Hi all. I upgraded an x10i w/CM7 to Arc rooted 2.3.3 and thus far great! I was wondering if there was an app that allowed me to configure LED notification lights per app, like Messaging = green / Email = Red , etc. In the CM menu this is available .. can any one help get me this functionality on my Arc ?
Thanks!
There's lots of them in the market... but you can also try CM7 (freexperia), only "major issue" left in this beta is the camera that's not working yet.

Hi all! I'm trying to figure out if Desire Z would work for me, if I should buy it or not. I have read all the threads on led I could find but thngs are still unclear to me. My provider sells the Desire Z with android 2.2. still. I want to be able to use at least the 3 possible colors of notification led to set amber just for sms, green just for calls and red just for battery for example. From what I could find Led me know stopped working when 2.3. update came for Desire Z. If I DON'T update however, I can not completely understand which possibilities Led me know beta gives and which not. For example, can I choose which color I want for sms and frequency and lenght or will the color for sms be the phones' default one (if it has one).
Or is there any better application with which I could also update the phone and be able to shoose color, frequency, lenght? The pre relese for 2.3 Desire Z does not work right?
Also I can't seem to find anywhere where the led is located. Is it behind speaker girll like on sensation?
Thanks all!
Can't change colors if there is no color to change ;o). No the only colors you get are the ones you've seen already

Really? I understand I can't get blue, magneta etc, but I can't even choose for example if I want red for sms and not green?
nope. i mean the app is free just try it. but the trackpad only has 1 color and the charge indicator only has the green and red.
led me know not really meant for our phones
I can't try it, I don't have the phone yet lol. I'm asking this in order to decide wheter or not I should buy it.
I don't understand why it is not at least possible to use the existing colors in customised way. If amber color does exist, why not be able to set it for sms?
How visible is the led behind the speaker grill? I have found it is hidden behind the grill right?
You can set the top led for red, orange, or green. The buttom (trackpad) is white only. Ledmeknow allows all that on 2.2... 2.3 it has problems with. If you want GB and led mods, go with light flow. But still red, green, orange only of course.
But yeah, the mixing doesn't work. All the newer HTC models are like that. I'm not sure why... but you can combo top and bottom led at the same time and they are all very visible. The top led is behind the speaker grill but is extremely visible still. Enjoy your new Desire Z/G2!
What do you mean by mixing?
Does Led me know or Light flow require root?
Hey guys,
Despite the poor placement of the LED light on the Arc, is there any build.prop tweaks or apps ( compatible with ICS preferebly) that make the LED light work/persist for notifications? I have a feeling that it does work but then turns off as soon as the screen turns on but that is rather pointless ( not sure about this)
Thank you guys.
That's how Google intend it to be since 2.1. Unfortunately I haven't seen or come up with any solutions yet..

What colours has everyone got working?
For a while, installing it stopped all notification lights. I only wanted it for sleep settings. I changed some colours today (red and green) but then even what was left as blue stopped working.
Test only shows green too.
It just seems to be unreliable for now. I wish I could get tasker to turn off notifications.
On my phone (I9300) it worked, but not perfectly. There were some audio outputs activated. Like someone is commenting me, while I'm doing pinch out on the touchwiz launcher. Idk why, but that f*cked me totally up, so I had to delete this app -.-
hopefully it was a bug, but it was really annoying.
EDIT: A glitch inside this app activated partially the talkback feature, to be concrete.
HTC Desire S!
I guess its not working on HTC Desire S can anyone confirm I tried but nothing happened no change in light color!
I made a video for the Samsung Galaxy S3 LED indicator and the app Light Flow Lite!
Originally for Xperia S/P and U but its working also on our Xperia ZL. Just use the settings for Xperia U to get the notification led lights in different colors.

Thanks to Rundgong for this app.

Are there any users which use Illumination Bar Notification?
It's not working here anymore... kinda weird, anybody has got the idea?
As example... An email... I enable the colour red, 0,5 seconds...
And when I get an email the light blinks white, 3,0 seconds or something like that...
In the emailapp the notification light is turned on... I want to select own colours
and not with any notification the same original white led notification... Any ideas?

Has anyone tried out, which one drains more battery (illumination control vs. light flow)?
I'm after a Jelly Bean ROM for my Desire. Was going to pick the AOKP ROM but then discovered that it only supports green led light notifications. I'd like something with multi-colour notification support. I also need GPS and WiFi tethering support. I did try searching other threads on here but didn't find any explicit references to multi-colour led notification support.
Any recommendations?
AFAIK the desire doesn't support multicoloured led lights. Green is our only option.

I dont think the Desire supports any other colour than its own, i could be wrong though
The Desire LED is definitely multicoloured, however a few custom ROMs i tried disabled various different combinations of colours and blink rates, think it's kernel related. I currently get blinking green for WhatsApp, and solid blue for Go SMS pro even though I try to change the colour within settings. Used to have pink as well, haven't seen that in years...
It used to be very useful on SMS apps before I rooted, I set a different colour and or blink rate for different contacts
I can't remember if I tried LED me know before, don't know if it's support anymore, worth a shot
From what I've read, the Desire LED supports:
Red
Green
Orange
Blue
White
Magenta
Purple

Yea you're right. Facebook seems to occasionally give me a blue led, but that's the only colour other than green that I've ever seen.

Mine's rooted and I'm running a custom 2.3.3 ROM...still supports multi-colour so rooting is not the cause of the problem.
I've given up on finding a Jelly Bean ROM with multi-colour led notification support. Is there an ICS ROM that can suit my needs?
Take a root explorer and navigate to " /sys/devices/virtual/leds/lcd-backlight/subsystem/" (may different on some roms). The folders green blue and amber are for the notification led, you can switch them on by setting the brightness file to 255 and switch them of by setting 0.
You can also use some combine, the desire hardware (and most kernels) supports multiple led colors, but no rom really use them for notifications.

There seems to be a misunderstanding. I don't want to switch on the led light manually. I just want the light to flash green when I have a missed call / new email and blue when I receive a new SMS. This is exactly what my phone does now with Android 2.3.3 and Handcent SMS. However, I read that Jelly Bean only supports green colour led notifications.

You could try: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.sabragesoft.poweronindicator
And https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.rageconsulting.android.lightflowlite
They work on most of the roms.
I cannot remember if lightflowligt worked well on JB though . I'm currently back on 2.3 with MW5.

Was it Jelly Bean? Did you have to install a 3rd party app for multi-colour support?
