Hi there,
when i bought the phone, i went to Pays-ROM right away..
But now i wanted to test something new so i wanted to try CM7.
i flashed a Fixed SBF an tried to do an update.zip. But CM7 didn't have one.. Just Nandroid, and i couldn't get into the normal screen to get clockworkmod to work..
so i flashed motoginger update.zip and it worked!
only when i rebooted i got into a bootloop and it all went crazy..
i could not get anything to work.. tried several SBF's wich where given by different Threads:
- JRDNEM_U3_3.4.3-11_BLUR_SIGN
- JRDNEM_U3_3.4.2_177-005_NORDIC_SIGN
but none of them work.. i can't even get anything to run.. not even a M logo.
some SBF's did work but i got stuck in a Bootloop again.
the only thing that does work is:
- JORDN_U3_97.21.51.sbf
but then my gmail and market don't work. and i can't get a custom recovery on it.. Because i don't think it's rooted.. and i can't get it rooted with superoneclick or whatever...
so does anyone know what i should do??
thanks!

go to stock recovery then wipe data/cache... then flash a nordic rom via rsd, root your phone via superoneclick, install clockworkmod then flash cm7 via clockworkmod...

new error message
hey there,
back from a week of work... trying out some new stuff..
did the Macgyver trick with the battery, so RSD lite recognizes the phone again.
tried to flash the U3_97.21.51 wich did work before, so i could clean the whole phone in stock recovery. and then flash the nordic rom wich was suggested.
but... i got a new error message:
failed flashing process. Failed flashing process. Phone(0000): Checksum error in the RAM Downloader for Flash Bootloader. File 0xC943, Phone: 0x6EF8 (0x702C); phone connected
so that's a bummer...
anyone nows what's going on??
What ROM are u on? I mean android version?
U can go back to 2.1 if u din flash full sbf n start over again...
Swyped from my DroidDefy using xda Premium app
edit: tried the nordic rom 177-005 and got the same error message..
i don't know if this is any helpfull, but RSD lite recognizes the phone Model as:"S Flash OMAP3630"
thnx for the quick reply,
i was on Pays-ROM (2.2 i think..)
but the last running rom was: JORDN_U3_97.21.51
after that, no rom has been running..
So wich 2.1 SBF should i flash??

Try redownloading the nordic froyo then wipe data/cache and flash via rsd lite.. just wait for it to say pass before pulling out the usb cable... even if it says manually reboot dont touch the phone..

i'm unable to boot into recovery...
i just get a black screen and sometimes a white led..
no boot at all
but when i put it into the pc RSDlite does see my phone, but doesn't flash properly..
just got JORDN_U3_97.21.51 to work.. with a fresh download and a fresh pc!!
that just made my day!
but... when i tried to wipe everything and then flash the Nordic rom suggested.. i get a black screen and nothing to work..
any ideas?
Put back JORDN_U3_97.21.51 and try to root it with an older version of superoneclick. I think this ROM has CG31.smg and CG39.smg with version 5... so you can't flash directly froyo (CG's version 4). You have to root it and then with custom recovery install a froyo or ginger nadroid with fixed sbf.
Damn!! NICE
got it rooted... at last,
clockworkmod installed succesfully, but i don't want to make any mistakes..
so could someone give me the steps i have to take to get to CM7??
as you can read in the rest of the thread..
i am on JORDN_U3_97.21.51 rooted!
grtz
>Here< you will find all the steps needed for CM7. Start with step 7 : How to install CM7 and keep downgrade-ability? (Froyo or Eclair).

Have you tried the boot image way? Download the boot image to the root of your SD card and boot into bootloader (Vol down+power) and then follow the prompts?
what is the boot image. i have tried running the PC36IMG.zip hundreds of times and it goes through and says

Are you actually trying to unroot your phone or what? I get the stock Sprint part, but do you mean you want to go back to just a Sprint rom that has root or do away with root?
no i want to keep the root with the htc evo stock sprint rom with the sense ui.
but if need be i can loose the root to get it back and then reroot it later. i want to build my own custom rom is way i want to get it back to the way it was when i first got it. im just stuck in the bootloader and cant seem to load any image.
There are a number of basic stock rooted roms available in the dev section. Just download one of them and flash it through recovery. Be sure to wipe data/cache/dalvik cache beforehand though. Another method you can also use is to flash a rom using rom manager. Rom manager is fairly easy to use and mostly foolproof.
Edit: Also, if you used unrevoked for the nand unlock instead of toast's method, there's a good chance you don't have the eng bootloader installed. Your rom flashing success rate may increase if using the eng bootloader.

I decided to root my desire HD today,
I was on firmware 3.xx with sense 3 ... Stock Gingerbread.
I successfully downgraded to 1.24.405.1 with the help of RUU
then i managed to root my device following the wiki.cyanogenmod tutorial.
Booted up with the respective android 2.2 successfully even after the root.
Checked root access via Root checker Basic , it said i had correct root access.
How ever , after flashing the clockwork recovery mode , My cell phone has NOT been able to *reboot* properly
i.e when i switch it off , it does not give any response without me taking out the battery and putting it back again .
When i try to go into bootloader/recovery mode , it just gives me a blank black screen.
Please tell me what to do in such a situation , i tried re-running the same RUU , but it gave me an error.
Please forgive me if i have created a re-post.. understand that my situation right now isn't the best.
PLease advice me as to what i should do , i wish to flash CM 7.1 on it, or at least return back to proper stock as soon as possible .
P.S the cell works fine right now , after i have removed the battery & re inserted. It however does not reboot.
Please help me as soon as possible !

This page should have some details on how to install recovery via ADB. Not sure if it will help but it should. Try the FastBoot method.

Do you mean you tried rebooting with holding down the volumeDown button and then pressing the power button?
When i shut down the DHD .. & press volume down + power, it did now go into clockworkMod.. instead it booted up fine .. into android 2.2
This probably happened because i deleted the rom manager before..i thought deleting it work also remove clockworkmod's unsuccessful recovery flash..!my bad
Also ,I wanted to ask, is it because of the buggy flash of clockworkmod recovery, that my phone does not boot up when i try to *reboot*...
Anyways, i tried the volume down & power button again , & it goes into the HTC bootloader/recovery.. which has the options of fastboot, etc .. Not the clockworkmod recovery, even though i have it installed(5.0.2.0) via rom manager
Sorry for such a long post =(

This is a very good idea, you can do so through ROM Manager. If that doesn't fix your problem, try reinstalling ROM from clockwork - don't use ROM Manager to flash ROMs.

Thank you for your kind suggestions,
I finally have a working clockworkMod Recovery,
I have to boot into bootloader, then recovery.
So right now i have backed up my ROM from clockworkMod recovery, and now preparing myself to install CM 7.1 from recovery menu itself.(after data-wipe etc)
I am safe right ? I have successfully backed up the phone(ROM) 2 times from clockwork mod recovery.
So now I can go ahead and flash CM 7.1 right ?
OH MY GOD !!!!
Now i know what the problem is !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
i flashed cm 7.1 successfully , still the reboot issue !
i returned to stock successfully by using the same RUU in fastboot mode... & amazingly .. SAME REBOOT ISSUE !
So now ive analysed , its the freaking wrong RUU version for my Indian desire HD
that is at fault !!!!!
So now , can any1 help me find a exploitable version ruu , so that I can flash to that version and start the rooting process again ??
If not Indian version , am i safe to put the 1.32.405.6 version RUU ??

I honestly dont think it has anything to do with the rom. Just reinstall recovery either through Rom Manager or using the link i gave to you earlier.
Solved ! =)
Downloaded proper version RUU..flashed via fastboot... solved reboot issue!
Then rooted again and put cyanogenmod 7.1

The U8120 hasn't a real bootloader.
You hould flash the phone again!
And I mean fullflash (root the phone, install AmonRA...)
Just like you want to root it.
In my Thread (just click U8120 in signature) you can download the stock rom!
P.S.on't change the recovery after rooting!
Eclair works only with AmonRA
!FORMAT YOUR SDCARD BEFORE TRYING THIS!

the only problem is that now every time i try to enter recovery mode it is stuck on the samsung logo.. and then i turn off and on to normal mode...
anybody can help me maybe restore the stock recovery?? or have a different solution??

CWM isn't compatible with Froyo... You must upgrade to Ginger to use CWM. But ginger is hard to root with Super one click... So you must flash it! :good:
Flash stock 2.3.6 with Odin, then flash cwm with Odin directly afterwards.

Hi Sam,
You can use CWM to format "system", and clear the cache.
Then re-flash the rom, and see if that allows you to boot up normally.
If this fails, then you can flash one of the stock roms on this thread to get your phone up and running again - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1653188
Once you are up and running, remember to make a CWM backup before trying something risky (and yes, Google apps can be considered risky )

OK, so now you need to use "flashtool" - you'll have to search for it on the forums if you don't know what to look for...
Then you can find the firmware for your phone on this thread - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22105604
When you use flashtool with a firmware like this it overwrites the entire operating system with one that definitely works - even if you have a locked boot-loader.
Once you have a working phone you can start with the whole root and custom rom thing again...
Good luck
the reason for your bootloop is wrong kernel i think... you may have tried to flash jellybean rom with ics kernel...try to change kernel if you wanna flash jb again

To recover, put your phone into flashmode and then install stock firmware from a FTF file by using Flashtool.
