My rom manager says it has successfully flashed cwm recovery but when I boot into recovery its still on amon RA! I have never ran into this issue before switching back and forth between recoveries. Any ideas?

Flash cwm manually, PB31IMG.zip through hboot. Google it, and I think dougpiston.com keeps them.
^ Yup. Inc. Recoveries
Alternatively, you might get away with going to ROM Manager > settings > check "Erase Recovery" and then reflash CWM.

I'm looking for a flashable version of clockworkmod recovery. I want to be able to flash it in ra recovery. I know I can use rom manager but thats not what I want to do. I know it can be done I have had it before but I deleted it be mistake
Same here. I did a alternate flash with ra but can't get it back to clockworkmod as a recovery in Rom manager. I fix permissions and still nothing. I get an error saying can't flash into recovery until I flash back to clockwork mod. So my current back up is Ra. What's wrong with this picture? Thanks Xda.

ok so I just for fun tried flashing RA recovery.....now I am trying to flash back to Clockwork but cannot do so. Rom manager says it successfully flashes...and also shows it on the current recovery. but when i boot up into recovery it is still RA recovery. I then try to flash any other version of clockwork and then get the message in rom manager "an error occured while flashing your recovery' Any help or idead would be much appreciated.

Have you tried using flash_image through adb shell to flash the clockwork image to recovery parition instead of clockwork mod? Koush's site has the images for all the different phones. Only link I know is for the February versions.

Well I was able to fix it lol. After trying to flash the clockwork recovery so many times.....I just updated the rom manager app and now it flashes no problem lol. thanks again for the help.
Hi everyone. I'm having some problems with my Recovery which I can't seem to figure out:
I tried to mod my phone with CM6.1 the other day using ROM Manager. ROM downloaded and started to install, no problems. When it tried to boot up again, it got stuck in a loop at the CM loading screen. When I tried to reboot in to Clockword Mod Recovery, all I got was a picture of a phone with a triangle (can't remember which colour - think it was green). Eventually I realised that was a stock recovery and managed to get my phone restored to my backup but I can't seem to get my recovery to go to anything but the stock one. Rom Manager reports Clockwork Recovery reports ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 installed and I've tried using Rom Manager, Android Commander and UnrEVOked to flash ClockworkMod and Amon-Ra and nothing works - I'm still at the built-in recovery.
Now, If I boot in to recovery, I get the red triangle and a message on screen stating "E:Can't open /cache/recovery/command".
If I do use the built-in recovery to flash ClockworkMod as an update.zip, ClockworkMod launches but when I reboot, it's gone again and I'm back to stock.
Any ideas?
Thank you!
"Android Commander and UnrEVOked to flash ClockworkMod and Amon-Ra and nothing works" make sure youre trying to flash a .img file
"Clockwork Recovery reports ClockworkMod 2.5.0.7 installed" that because the recovery (.zip) is saved on the SDCARD. When booting Recovery from ROM Manager, youre fake-flashing the file (.zip)
"If I do use the built-in recovery to flash ClockworkMod as an update.zip, ClockworkMod launches but when I reboot, it's gone again and I'm back to stock." thats fake-flashing
what HBOOT are you on??
EDIT: You should S-OFF your Desire "http://alpharev.nl/".
WARNING: When using S-OFF your flashing a custom HBOOT. If that goes wrong, it may brick your Desire. If you use S-OFF, then you can flash a permanent recovery using fastboot
Thanks Chris. Any idea why it would have reverted though? I used to have a permanent version of ClockworkMod until the other week
Edit: HBOOT just says 0.80.0000 and has 3 androids on skateboards

Go back to stock, download the original ruu for you phone. After that try rooting again.
Rats - had a feeling that may be the answer. Think I'll be able to restore a backup?

I fake-flash all the time. I once messed up a ROM's installation and got stuck because it messed up the recovery too.
The loop startup is probably caused by older cache from your previous ROM. Just boot up recovery again, clear cache and restore factory settings and then flash your CM again. Should do the trick.

Flashed my HBOOT with AlphaRev - those guys are brilliant, coding that!
Thank you for your help!
Bingo!
Think I've nailed it now!
I used Fastboot Commander [v.1.0] to flash Amon-RA which took and stayed!
To confirm: I installed AlphaRev bootloader to S-OFF then Fastboot Commander to flash Amon-RA. Hopefully, I'll now be able to flash Clockwork Recovery again (as I use Rom Manager) and be back up and running!
Think I may skip CM6.1...

Reflash your recovery. If you can boot into the rom, use ROM Manager to flash Amon Ra, or reflash Clockwork, whichever you prefer. If you're just stuck at the bootloader, and can't boot to the rom, then as long as you're still S off, you can reflash a PC36IMG of recovery. I'll attatch Amon Ra. V2.3. Put the file on main directory of your sd card, boot to the bootloader, and accept the update. Then you should be able to boot to recovery.
Thanks, but I was using clockwork 3005, had to flash to 3003

Clockwork often fails to flash properly for me. If you can boot up, just reflash Clockwork recovery and it will fix it. If you can't boot up, which sounds like your problem, just copy the file in the link in k2buckley's post above to the root of your sd card and let it flash from the bootloader, then boot up your phone and flash Clockwork again.
ok. so I need to be able to use amend scripting and im currently on Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5. When i try to flash an older clockwork or Amon RA through ROM manager, It just very quickly says "recovery flashed successful" but it never really flashes the recovery. I reboot into recovery and its still 3.0.0.5... I used to be able to flash the recovery fine. I have CM7nightly 66, Tiamat 4.01, and Hboot .93. I have tried several times and nothing. ROM manager says it flashed successfully, but i still have the same recovery. I even tried running the Amon RA update.zip, but hboot wouldnt pick it up... please help!!! thanks in advance...
So you couldn't ask this in the question and answer forum?
Try the PC36IMG way to flash amon RA or clockwork.
Or try flashing through terminal using the flash_image command
