Has anyone tested a SIM card in the Inc2 after using the XTC Clip? I have one that didn't seem to work which I attributed to being older and provisioned for a BB. However, I tried an original Verizon SIM card and I still get the same errors:
1. No Network is ever found
2. When going to GSM Call Settings - "Network or SIM card error."
Does anyone have any comments or different experience with it?
Thanks, Matt.

which ROM are you trying this on? XTC clip is a full NAND and SIM unlock should work.. strange.
I've tried it only on the nandroid backup I did of my system before trying other ROMs - currently only plainjane roms support SIM cards, but I cannot install them either (see my post in that thread). I would really like to see CM7 support the SIM.
I know that the clip successfully unlocked the SIM, because before my card would give an error; something like its not a valid SIM card even though it would ask me for my PIN at reboot.
Now, it doesn't pop up the error after a reboot, but still asks me for my PIN...so it sees it. Its just when changing to GSM/UTMS mode that I get the network/SIM error.
I'm going to try with a buddy's SIM that I know works in his iPhone so i'll see what happens.
I was just wondering if anyone else had tried it yet.
Thanks, Matt.

Nice, am interested to see what would happen and if that works!
you will be the first to know!
OK, don't have a known-good SIM card to try yet, but I tried changing the mode to GSM/UMTS only on a stock INC2 with the stock verizon SIM card and it had the same behavior as mine - "SIM card or network error".
I will get an AT&T SIM card from an iPhone to try hopefully this week, but I wonder if its a provisioning issue with the SIM? Anyone have a SIM they can try with a rooted/XTC clip s-off'ed INC2?
Thanks, Matt.
VERY interesting...looks like verizon is doing some trickery in the radio firmware - I'm willing the be the same thing is going on here. I'd love to solve this before I leave for Europe next week, but if not I'll update the thread with what I find using my SIM card aborad.

After unlock by xtc clip not success . I buy unlock code
but
Ive recently unlocked gsm , but can't change to GSM mode ( always show CDMA mode)
change to GSM mode , Incredible 2 show
"there is no Sim Card on your device . Your device will switch to CDMA mode now"
try another Sim card , change to GSM mode ,still show ""there is no Sim Card on your device . Your device will switch to CDMA mode now""
My incredible 2 , new in a box 100%
Unlocked by code
Solution ??? help
I think you hardware is just fine, but the radio firmware is filtering out any US GSM carrier codes - essentially making GSM operation in the US impossible.
However, I think there must be a software or radio solution to this.
I am an inc2 Verizon customer. I called Verizon and got an unlock code easily. I have a T-Mobile prepaid similar that I put in and it works perfectly. I switched to GSM and made a call without issue.
Next I added the apn in settings for data, bought a web daypass, and data also worked.
I live in an edge only area or I would test for 3g. Ill update if I travel to an area that has it.
T-Mobile US bands work fine though
At&t sim works, tested today.

Do you get EDGE/1X or 3g/HSPA with ATT sim?
I believe it was edge, but I'm not familiar with AT&T in the area so I'm not sure if that is normal or not. I was more concerned with the overall ability to use a non-verizon SIM.

The sim card that is required for our devices to be able to use wifi calling is labeled with a TM9177 (newer sim card) so if you have a TM9073 (older sim card) you need to update that at your local T-Mobile store. it didnt cost me anything. they replaced it with no problems at all.

I've been seeing a major bug lately with WiFi calling. Sometimes (seemingly at random, though always when I am trying to connect to a WiFi after being connected to cell network) the icon will turn RED and give me the dreaded SIM error. Generally this is fixable with a reboot. So if you have a TM9177 SIM and for some reason you are getting the SIM Error code then try a reboot first.
Of course if you have an older SIM then yes, you need to get a new SIM. Call TMO first and tell them to put a note on your account that you are able to receive a free SIM. Otherwise some of the more A-Holeish stores may try and charge you 20 dollars.
No problem so far with wifi calling on my phone.
just goto your local t-mobile store and tell them to change your old card for a new one. they know what to do. and it's free.

Curiosity....what ROM are you using? I wonder if the wifi calling bugs I'm seeing are a ROM issue...
Thank you guys, I will call them first in head of time and then go to the mall. Thank you all!
I recently sold my Incredible 2 to a friend and he is trying to use it on T-Mobile. I know this is possible, but I have no idea how to do it. The phone is S-OFF by XTC Clip running a custom ROM. When he inserts his SIM it doesn't ask for the unlock code, how can I get it to ask? Is there something else I need to do? Help much appreciated!

It wouldn't need to if you did it via xtc clip. That's a hardware unlock so it gets the Sim slot at the same time.

So he doesn't need the SIM unlock code? I know the slot is unlocked, but the phone doesn't get service with his SIM card inserted. Is there a way to get the SIM card unlock prompt?

That I have no idea. Sorry bud, anyone else have any idea on how to get this done?
So he called T-Mobile and they told him it should just work if the phone is unlocked, like you said above. He got the IMSI number and is calling them back, I have never done anything like this before so I have no idea what I'm doing
Still nothing, can someone please help me.
Since it is running a custom ROM, does that ROM support GSM? I would try the phone with zeus or Andy Bones stock rooted ROM just to be sure.

He tried CM7 and another sense ROM, I'm not sure if either of those support GSM, but I will have him try out Andy's stock ROM in a few.
Any luck?

Also check the mobile network settings and see if it is set to switch between cdma and GSM. Actually if he is strictly on GSM then I would turn off cdma all together.

Does the DI2 has service at all or problems with data/mms only? Does the T-Mobile name show up as the carrier with the phone in GSM mode? For T-Mo, one has to subscribe or enroll in one of the data plan/option for mobile broadband access.
Is the T-Mo chip working or taken from another working T-Mo phone? Can you check for basic voice only service using an AT&T chip (prepaid or postpaid)?
Does it ring on incoming voice calls and answer? (Just starting with all the basics to try to eliminate the obvious ... )
If these checks are confirmed as functional - check and edit the APN and mobile internet/MMS settings (default locked to VZW/Vodafone ??) - changes made & saved?
Not all Sense ROMs are verified as GSM compatible (3.5 won't work, 3.0 is the highest with Sense 2.1/3.0 and hybrid usually with GSM functionalty) SR's Zeus V1.3 is good, same with andyBones's ROM or RMK's Ginger Sense released last year.
You need a P.U.K Code to unlock the apn side of the phone then input manually into new apn.

Why'd you use XTC clip instead of Revolutionary?

Here are some steps I used to help me use Incredible 2 for Tmobile
1. Under settings go to "Security" and "Disable SIM card lock" to enter the code. I bought my unlock code from ebay for $.99 from dr.unlockusa....others couldn't do it and refunded my money.
2. Make sure the back cover is on since antenna is integrated on the back cover. Also make sure that SIM card is inserted correctly...cut slanted side faces down.
3. Go to "Wireless and Network" and "Mobile Networks"....after your phone detects the sim card, you should now be able to click "GSM/UMTS MODE" under "Preferred Network".
4. After step 3, click "GSM/UMTS Options" and click APN settings. It should be blank....hit menu( it should be second button from left on the bottom) and add apn setting. Google APN settings for whatever network you're trying to use...either tmobile or at&t....and enter those settings....
5. Everytime you switch network or factory rest (done under "SD &phone storage) APN setting has to be entered again...it sucks...
hope this helped...
i have the gt-i9250 and i always used an at&t sim with it with out an issue, recently i wanted to switch to t-mobile (thinking the phone should be unlocked considering it was an international phone and was the yakjuxw than i flashed it to yakju which was wierd cause i had google wallet on it and it was working fine although i only thought it was compatible with takju, but anyway all and all i put it to the usa firmware of takju 4.0.4 not going to jellybean yet, but my issue is that i am not able to use the t-mobile sim card in it and i get this (look at screenshot where signal is) what does this mean and how come i cant get signal, when i go to settings and mobile networks it shows me the apn for t-mobile us but not selected so i select it than after i go to mobile networks and it shows t-mobile and at&t and when i click any of them they tell me its unable to connect and it cant connect to the network at this time, so what would this mean and how would i fix it so that i can use it with my t-mobile sim card, also i flashed the newer NA radio uglc1.
That is weird. It should work on either of them. It just means you have no signal. That is strange. You could've actually just popped the Sim right in. It didn't matter if you were using a ROM

Is the SIM activated for sure? I know when I switched to the T-mobile $30 plan it took it a good 15 minutes or so to activate, and then I didn't actually get signal until rebooting the phone for whatever reason.
Did you reboot your phone?
Although you can sometimes hot plug a sim card by turning on flight mode, taking the sim card out and toggling flight mode a few times, it won't work sometimes.
probably your cell imei not free and therefore can not change your sim.
There is an application called "****docomo" worth to release the imei. Make a backup just in case

Don't think he has a SIM unlock problem. Considering that it was working with AT&T, which never had a locked version of the GNex, I think he's having another issue.
I'd tell the OP to make 100% sure that his new T-Mobile SIM is activated and not defective, then try a few reboots and swaps back to the old SIM and do some troubleshooting. If it's the phone and not the SIM, its likely a mobile network registration error or an APN issue.
Looking in the notification bar, it seems like the phone doesn't think there's even a SIM inserted. Make sure you didn't damage a pin in the SIM tray, and that the SIM is properly inserted and clean. I don't think you'd get this error of "no SIM" if your phone was locked. If that was the case, the phone would recognize the SIM and prompt for an unlock code, which you're not getting.
We have a Galaxy Note 2 from ATT now. Just upgraded, so we're not using it. We want to take it to Europe to use as a phone and a hotspot for our computers on our trip. I've read that people do that with unlocked Androids and a European SIM.
I was able to unlock the phone with no problem using a data only T-Mobile SIM card in the process. The problem is that I can't turn the Mobile Hot Spot on. I've tried with the valid data only T-mobild SIM installed. When I try to turn the hotspot on, it says that either the network is not available, or there's an invalid SIM. I'm worried that it's the ATT restrictions on the phone that aren't going away even if the phone is unlocked, and there's a different SIM in place.
Does anyone know what we have to do to enable the hotspot, so that this phone can be used in Europe?
Thanks.

The thing that sticks out to me is that you actually need the correct Sim card that is provisioned for phone service.. I'm assuming this "data only sim" was provisioned for a tablet and therefore can't make any calls... the network unavailable message will show up even with no Sim installed and trying to enable a hotspot. You need a valid cell service in order to hotspot.
Hope Getting the Right SIM will do it.

Thanks. I hope that's what the problem is. It would make things simpler to be sure. I just didn't want to get there and then find out it wasn't going to work. In the meantime, I found my old Galaxy S 3. I managed to unlock it, root it, and install basic ROM. Thought maybe that would work, as well. I'll know by next week.
Hello guys!
I have a phablet Cube WP 10 with a locked SIM card (No service status). I already installed InteropTools_2.0.95.0 and searched in the registry of OS using the Interop Registry browser, but couldn't find any parameter related with a the SIM card and its status.
What should I do to unlock the SIM? May be there is another trick without using the registry?
Attention! Added information: The SIM card works with another phone and this phone sees it, but can't use the cell network - "No service" when calling...
Which carrier is the sim card from? What do you mean sim card lock? SIM card has a pin enabled?
Try putting the sime card into another phone yet?
You won't unlock locked phone to use SIM from another carrier by modifying registry. There is no such a thing.

No service

If you purchased your cube for a specific operator, you must call this operator to have the unlock code.

I thought the Cube WP was an unlocked device.
If the SIM sees no network that means the sim is not compatible. I am not sure what the problem is exactly.
I've changed current SIM card to the SIM card of another cell-operator, but nothing has changed. And what is important to mention, I can't find any cell-network of my region using the network search. May be it's some kind of lock?

maybe, simply the phablet has a hardware issue - most probably antenna has been disconnected from the motherboard
I have sim cards that if they are deactivated will get no service when inserted into a valid phone they can work on. Are you using an active sim? If so maybe look at this link as there are some service codes to try maybe...but make sure to read any warnings. Not sure if any of them work either.

Thanks for this link, but these codes destined for Android OS and don't work on WM10 except first one.
