[Q] AlphaRev-X / HBOOT 1.06 / "Waiting for device.." - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I am trying to run AlphaRev-X on a HTC Desire (CDMA) running HBOOT 1.06 but all I am getting it "Waiting for device..."
As far as I am aware, all drivers are installed perfectly fine.
USB Debugging is enabled.
Any ideas?

Exit HTC Sync? Just a reminder, as I've forgotten that a couple times, with similar results..

I don't have HTC Sync installed on the PC, so I don't think it could be that.
Could it be enabled somewhere on the phone? I'm currently in Charge Only mode.

Is this to get s-off?
What happens after a long time of 'waiting for device...'?
Not quite sure which stage you're at, but when I used AlphaRev I realised 2 things...
1. I had to 're-select' the phone each time it booted (but I was using a VM)
2. Right at the start when AlphaRev is trying to find the phone details, a message asking for super user permissions appeared on my phone - you need to accept it.
Also, you are using a HTC Desire, so you should be able to use AlphaRev1.8 (http://alpharev.nl/). I believe AlphaRev-X is for other devices? (correct me if i'm wrong)

There is no mention of it working for the CDMA version of the Desire on that page

I guess hboot drivers were installed correctly?
My only idea is to try this:
Install htc sync. Now uninstall only htc sync (not the drivers) and reboot computer. Boot your phone in fastboot mode, start alpharev x and connect your phone to your computer.

Installing HTC Sync worked, although now it's getting stuck on Beta key accepted - thank you for participating!
This is all rather frustrating

[Q] Bootloader corrupt WTF?

Sorry for my enthusiasm, but here is my problem:
I want to install Android Revolution on my HTC DHD.
I've done all these steps:
- Successfully created a GoldCard
- Successfully dowgraded from 2.3.3 to 1.32
- Successfully permrooted via Visionary+
- Successfully Radio S-OFFed, SuperCID + SimUnlock via this tool
- Now failed on ENG S-OFF via this tool

I opened it as Admin, I am on a Radio-S-OFFed and Permrooted Device with Software <1.7x, I checked "Yes, I have Radio-S-OFF" (or how it was called), I connected my phone via charge only, I enabled USB Debugging, I have all adb drivers (HTC sync), I accepted the superuser request on my phone and I so I have done EVERYTHING mentioned in the threads, which I Have read 2 times before doing it, but now this stupid error and I don't know how to proceed.
I hope you guys can help me. I did of course not reboot my phone, and I am continuosly charging it right now to prevent running out of battery.
EDIT UPDATE: I tried the tool now without the box checked, gives me "connection error" (yes I again accepted superuser request)
Ok, ok nevermind guys, figured it out myself:
Thanks to ratman33 and myself for trying out weird thingds

I had the same error and nearly crapped my pants thinking I bricked my phone. Its not really a big problem. Go to Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage apps and clear the data from Superuser. Reconnect your phone making sure you're on charge only, usb debugging. Run the Eng S-off tool and watch your phone as it attemps to push the data. Superuser should pop up asking to let the Eng tool have privs. Click allow and it should work fine. CWM has been working great for me ever since!

But this alone did not work for me. I needed to go to Menu>Settings>Applications and then check "Fastboot" so that it's enabled. Then disconnect your phone from the PC and WAIT min. 5 seconds. Then connect it again and run the tool, and it gives you success message!
But: Can I now be sure everything went right?

It should be. I guess there is only one way to find out, reboot in bootloader and see the results.
or you could have tried with your Wi-fi turned on and connected to a network.....that's the way it worked for me

[Q] AMT v1.8.5

Hiya guys!
I have a HTC DHD running 2.3.3, when i try to root my phone with AMT v1.8.5 tool, tool starts correctly but then i get a message Device is NOT connected! Please connect the USB cable and try again! I'm not sure which causes this problem, though i can access my phone SD card when i select USB Storage Mode, but this tool requires Charge Only Mode. USB Debugging was enabled. My OS is Windows 7 x64

Have you got the Android SDK installed on your computer?
You might want to try factory resetting your phone too. Although it seems like a driver problem. Try installing the Android SDK and HTC Sync. Then restart your computer and see what happens.
Have you got .NET framework 4.0 installed?
Also you must remember to exit the HTC Sync tray icon
And disable fastboot on your phone (settings/power - if i remember right)
I have .NET framework 4.0 installed but not HTC sync, how do I install SDK tools?
I never had SDK installed when I rooted mine. Not sure if your problems aren't caused by Windows 7. Can you run AMT in compatibility mode for XP and see what happens
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
It didn't help to run it as compability mode, still not recognizing my phone in charge only mode...
Did you install HTC Sync? Install it and then shut it down. Make sure fastboot is disabled on your phone. Enable USB debugging and also try enabling allow install programs from unknown sources. And try running AMT again.

I got it work, but i have to downgrade my firmware first, it installed GingerBreak v1.2 automatically to my phone, but when i run GingerBreak v1.2 it just keeps rooting and nothing happens.....how i can downgrade?
I have to root my phone with GingerBreak v1.2 before i can downgrade but GingerBreak v1.2 is not working in my phone...i'm out of ideas...
You could maybe try using jkoljo's guide to downgrading and using that. Then rooting using AMT.

When i try to start adb.exe it opens command prompt and then bunch of codes appears then it just closes, though its resource stays in taskmanager....i tried to run adb.exe in compability mode too but no luck, i even tried to run it on my external hard drive but no luck...and i ran it as admin but no luck...
I managed to get adb running correctly, and then i started to follow downgrade tutorial, but i'm so confused right now:
Connect Desire HD to a computer. Charge only, USB Debugging enabled!
Open up a cmd and go to Downgrade folder, execute commands:
How do i go to downgrade folder with adb??
It depends where your downgrade folder is. If its on the c drive then type cd "folder name"
Where folder name is the name of the folder containing your downgrade folder. Then type the commands as per the guide.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using xda app
I managed to downgrade correctly, then i tried to use AMT 1.8.5, but it didn't work..check this shot: ( my SID didn't change etc.... )

I managed to get perm root with superuser, but i didn't get SID to work...it's still HTC_Y13 and not 11111111 like it should be....
I don't know what to suggest. I have an unbranded DHD with CID HTC_01. I'm guessing yours was branded. Did you make a goldcard? I'm all out of suggestions. Although now you can ask in the ops thread.

Make sure you've made a GoldCard!
Here's a guide if you're not sure how to do it:

The guy's voice pisses me off, but he's still a champion for making the video.
Best of luck!
Try flashing the Eng Hboot. And perm root.
Then afterwards try to change the cid.
I tried to flash MIUI to my DHD and now my phone won't start anymore, it just shows that red animated MIUI ANDROID thing and won't go to my start screen....how do i get my phone back to business????
Please help me!! I can't even shutdown my phone!
Remove the battery.
Did you install rom manager from the market?
You need this to flash a custom recovery in order to flash a new rom.
Are you certain you acheived root yet?
Im not sure exactly how far along the process you are, but you could try using the Advanced Ace hack kit HERE

[Q] HTC Desire Z Problem

Hi Forum,
I've read about 50 responses on fixing a bricked HTC Desire Z, but unfortunately, nothig has solved my problem as yet, so I need to ask for considered advice:
I have an unrooted bog-standard HTC Desire Z.
This morning, it started updating applications, and I foolishly hit the button to 'Update All' applications. This was where it started to go wrong and it seemed to jam up.
After about 30 minutes, it was still completely locked up, and I had to take the battery out. When the battery was put back in, it just went to the HTC logo, and wouldn't go past it.
Having spent the day googling, I got to the boot screen, which reads:
vision pvt ship s-on
hboot-0.85.0013
radio-26.10.04.03M
eMMC-boot
Apr 11 2011,23:36:27
The options below this were 'Fastboot', 'Recovery', 'Restore Factory Settings', and another. (Sorry, I forget).
Recovery pauses for a few seconds, then shows an HTC logo, then a green and black icon with arrows circling a phone, then it turns off, buzzes 6-7 times, and locks up with no lights on. To get any more action, I had to take the battery out.
Fastboot provides some other options, but none of them seem to actually do anything other than starting from the point of power-on with volume down again.
Restore Factory Settings locks up for over an hour, and I have to take the battery out again.
The online guides seem to suggest creating a Goldcard, but I can't see how I can do this without being able to boot up the phone
Other guides suggest usind ADB. I've installed this, but to use it, I need to enable USB debugging on the phone. Which I can't do without being able to boot up the phone.
I've tried putting a PC10img.zip file on the SD card, which it does read, and verifies,but having seemingly processed this file, it doesn't change any of the other behaviour.
I tried to run an RUU, which appeared to work for a while. (Downgrading from 2.42.405.2 to a lower ROM) but this failed about halfway through with a 'USB Error' and no behaviour has changed.
I'm getting a little frustrated. Does anyone have any ideas that I can try?
Please bear in mind, I do not have the ability to boot the phone to turn on USB debugging, etc.
Thanks,
Ian.
Wrong section. Try Desire Z forum. Different device, different solutions (sometimes)
---------- Post added at 08:53 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:51 PM ----------
tutorial for goldcard is here.. skip the part where they get the CID wit hthe phone and use this (copy with no spaces, commas) and use an SD USB adapter, then follow the tut.
Then boot into fastboot mode, plug in via USB and run a RUU.. think this is the newest WWE one
Thanks for your help.
Do I still need the goldcard to install the stock RUU?
Regards,
Ian.
if you have the branded RUU for your network then no. If you want to use the one I posted then yes.

Bricked LG G3 - Need help!

Hi guys, I recently decided that i would root my phone and try and install cyanogenmod (new to me) as my phone seemed quite sluggish with LG's own bloatware on it. I followed the steps from LGG3ROOT and everything seemed to work well, and at the last stage when it asked me to then remove my battery and restart the phone... the phone just stayed on the lg page - never logging into the android system.
Ive tried to plug the device into multiple machines and each time the machines have issues with the device and it says the device has issue starting (10).
Im not really sure what else i can do as the phone seems bricked. Any help would be very much appreciated as i need access to the phone and i assume the warranty is now void.
Thanks in advance.

can you post
the guide that you used to root
your phone variant
and whether it boots into download mode
what firmware version you were running
the guide i followed was this (exactly) http://highonandroid.com/android-smartphones/how-to-root-lg-g-flex-2-g2-g3-on-lollipop/
i have a UK D855
I can get it to download mode (but cant get to recovery with the power and down buttons)
unsure exactly which firmware, i hadn't played around with the phone until this happened.
when i let the phone get stuck on the lg page the windows pc seems to recognise the device, if i put it in download mode it comes up with the device error that it is there but cannot be run.
Thanks.
You probably have either
1) A bad usb cable
2) Or your drivers arent properly installed
You are plugging it into a USB2.0 port right?
I installed the drivers from the universal LG driver tool from their site, it worked find with the phone (or so it showed) before this issue, i've also tried a different cable and a different machine for it to come up with that same driver problem (10). Ive also tried uninstalling the driver software and reinstalling, is there a way to get rid of all traces of the bad drivers? thanks again for replying

Working Fine
This is when the device isn't put into download mode and instead is left to try and boot (where it is stuck on the LG 'life's good' page).
Any idea guys? Im having no luck with any info im getting online at the moment and i'm really in need of this phone to work.
Thanks in advance.
Can you expand the "android device" section.
See if it's android adb
sorry, i think i quite understand. Which part should i expand on?
Thanks
In
device manager, look up Android device.
Update
The phone will now only go straight to firmware update and will never go or show the download mode as it has before. This is causing my LG Flash Tool to come up with 'cant change to download mode' and im not sure why or how this has happened.
The phone is now appearing fine on the device list. Its just the last of download mode. Is there a way to force it in cmd?
Please some screenshot again. The one I linked would be fine for adb
I see you can boot on download mode, so you can restore your G3 by applying a kdz firmware with flashtool2014: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2785089
On download mode the G3 is recognized only in ports (com&lpt)

Pixel 2 XL (rooted) bootlooping to TEAMWIN splash after factory reset

I am helping someone with this phone, so I don't have all the details, but I know the phone was rooted and most likely it was running stock Android 10. It had been working fine until a factory reset (from Android settings I am assuming) was done on it.
1. Now when it turned on, it displays the "Bootloader unlocked" warning:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
2. After the message, it goes to the Google logo for a second and then to the TEAMWIN splash screen, and it just stays there. I have to long-press the power button to power it off.
3. I can get into the bootloader using the power and volume-down keys, and the "Barcodes", "Restart bootloader" and "Power off" option work, but "Start" and "Recovery mode" just take me back to step 1 and then 2.
So, I cannot get into "Recovery mode". I have also connected the phone to my pc (Ubuntu), but the OS does not detect it, so I cannot use fastboot either.
Any ideas on how to fix this?
If you cant connect to it via fastboot while its in bootloader mode things are grim, thats your best bet at fixing it...
Connect to PC and flash the Android 10 stock ROM by running flash-all.bat while phone is at bootloader
Without editing the flash-all.bat file to remove the -w flashing stock ROM will format user data
Thats it
The state of the phone in the pic does not inspire confidence....
Im starting to think the two things are related....

After connecting a working and identical phone to my PC, I found out that the reason my PC didn't detect this phone was that the USB port on phone was dirty and the connector didn't go all the way in.
After I cleaned the USB port I was able to flash the stock ROM to it. I was getting an error mid-way through, so I removed the "-w" as per your advice, tried again and it worked. The phone works now. Thank you 73sydenay!
