No data on INC3PTION

Disclaimer: yes i watched the noob video and yes i searched for my answer first.
Im running the INC3PTION rom on my glide. It works great, but there is no data that works. It still recieves texts and can call, but i cant connect to internet, nor can i recieve MMS. Ive tried rebooting and taking out the battery to no avail. It still works on Wi-Fi. Can anyone help?

Have you tried adding your network's APN settings? Do a google search for your carrier's APN settings then add them under settings - wireless and netwrok - mobile networks - access point names.

That ROM was meant for Rodgers network not Att i did the same thing so thats why data isnt working. If you update to inception v2 its for att so flash that one =)

That does work it doesnt matter that its based on rodgers it still will work with at&t if you add at&t's apn

AT&T and Rogers versions are both the same the APN simply allows the phone to connect to the Required network. Think of it as setting the network settings (Which it is).

[Q] MMS not working for virgin mobile galaxy s3

Does anyone know how to get mms working on a sprint galaxy s3 flashed to virgin mobile?

Check this out. It didn't solve my problem the way i wanted (go sms works, though i wanted to be able to use any messaging app), but it may help you, as it has helped others. It updated a few days ago to include virgin mobile.

WIFI Tether after ota

Has anyone had any issues with wifi tether after the 4.3 ota.
I am having one hell of a time getting it to work.
I tried everything i can think of and it refuses to work.
Get errors about not finding the binaries, gets phone in unknown state ( the only app that does it )... yes i am rooted and confirmed that i can mod system files.

I'm seeing the exact same thing. Also seeing messages like "Couldn't install file-data/data/com/googlecode.android.wifi.tether/bin..." and when trying to view the log file it also doesn't exist. Have tried several configurations and several tethering apps and can't get anything to work.

Gain root access, delete or rename /data/misc/wifi directory.
Reboot your phone.

Hopefully it works for OP. I'll just have to go back to FoxFi for the time being.

What exactly is happening when you start tethering ?
Are you getting "error" or you can start tethering but no data is transfered from your device ?
My post solves the "error" problem as described here

Other posts here indicate that in some cases tethering won't work if you don't have a plan for it.
Anyhow there is a fix for this issue too. search the forum.

Depending on what I try I either get a screen that is forever asking me to "Please wait while starting..." or I get the error like wpsantennas where it tells me "Couldn't install file-data/data/com.googlecode.android.wifi.tether/bin/tether!"
It will tell me my phone is in an "unknown state" if I try to stop and restart the tethering process.

No the fix don't work , it sits n just days starting n spins, and gives the data data thing

Same problem here. Tethering worked fine before update, after updating to 4.3 experiencing same problems listed above.
From what I've read, a few of the custom roms, including some sense roms, seem to have the stock mobile hotspot working. Anyone know what was changed in those to get it working?

Oh, but I am rooted, just running stock (except for root, of course). Your NuSenseOne rom has a working modified wifi tether. Can it be transplanted to stock 4.3?

100% stock rooted, debloated.
Im trying to get the native tether with security check bypassed.. i found the code but of course when i debloated i dont have the files, so i got to wait 3 hours to dl the rom with the file ..ugh useing th previous rom files i can get it to launch and run, and show up but going into settings crashes settings

I'm stock rooted except running ObOne kernel. Didn't think the kernel was the problem but didn't run tether on 4.3 before flashing the new kernel. When I ran into the tether problems I wasn't debloated but since then I've dumped some stuff.
Based on the error messages it seems as if the app can't write to the directory but have no clue why. Tried OpenGarden and it had the same errors.

I decided to check out the sprint forums for the one, and the exact same thing happened to them when they got 4.3 . It seems it was hit or miss with the tether apps. and it seemed that a reasonable fix was to use native tether with security bypassed. The person who modded the one tether app that we are having problems with seems to be MIA

Can someone please help me with getting the Wifi hotspot to work on this Rom? I'm definitely interested in running this but I do rely on the mobile hotspot for my XBOX. I've seen someone post about it work for them but I can't seem to get it to work for me. Reflashed the Rom with a different kernel and no go. Thanks guys I'd appreciate it! Great Rom overall!!

Did you test with another device? Try connect another phone or laptop to your hot spot.
I was using it earlier and I had no problem.

Well I have found a solution. If anyone is having the same issue with this rom, use Wifi tether router. It's in the marketplace and cost $2.50 but it's so worth the money. I now have my hotspot working along with a sick TW rom. ??

I've had the same problem with not being able to hot-spot since I installed this rom. I found this thread a few months ago and downloaded the app and it had been working great up until recently. Don't know why it stopped working. But I really wish the rom would just allow me to tether rather than having to rely on an app.

Same problem, none of the fixes in the thread worked.

I'm not on it now. But it was decent.
Fixed tethering. Change the tethering APN to match the LTE APN. And make both protocols ipv4/ipv6.

Hey Guy... you may want to try and flash the Effortless+tether+and+SD zip file this worked for me, have rooted your phone anyways??
See attached zip file for the tether option... all credits goes to him and those who put together this amazing zip not me.
Check it out, download it and flash to your phone with TeamWin Recovery, enjoy.....

Effortless ROM-REV8 is the best now, Trust me...

Even when i select the tether apn, it automatically switches back to the LTE apn after a few sec.

I don't see Effortless as a rom available for my carrier in the rooms list, so maybe it's not compatible with my specific device.
Aside from that, would clockworkmod recovery not work with your rom, an if not why not?

Verizon APN

Hello all,
Ever since I rooted and unlocked I cannot send mms messages...I can receive but not send. Just sits there and hangs. I have tried everything I can think of all stock and fresh.
Has anyone on Verizon had this issue? Before I rooted and unlocked it worked fine for me...using all stock message app. Tried changing to LTE/CDMA mode, airplane mode, wifi on and off...nothing. just curious if some one can pm me or reply with their apn settings.

I googled for them...but all seem old. Seems the pixel has Advanced Calling ect...I didn't see any updated ones on there site? You have a link please?

Those are the exact settings I have...it just be root that is causing my mms and group message issues. Every since I have rooted I cannot send mms or group texts...tried multiple message apps and nothing. Verizon has no clue either. So I am going to try to unroot and see if that is the problem. I will report back.

Yeah I did last night and still can't send pics or just a normal group text message. Normal SMS is fine. I am going to unroot this evening after work to see if it that fixes it.
Pretty strange that root would be the cause though?

I have confirmed Root is what is causing my MMS sending issues. I have no clue why. I have tested this 3 times to confirm it to verify it is root. I have PM'd Chainfire to see what he thinks would cause it.

I have no clue why it is root that is causing it. I have a new SIM, tried everything I can think of to confirm it was/wasn't root. Once I root though my MMS issue reappears. I don't get it. Guess I will have to not root the phone if I want to send pic or group messages. Makes no sense to me either.

Add mms to the APN type. Mine are working fine rooted

Could be the app you are using. Are you using stock messenger?

Yes, all stock. Have even wiped the device 2 times to confirm and every time after it boots after I boot-to-root MMS issues reappear. I even sideloaded the new OTA and factory reset and same thing happens after root. Has me puzzled. Smh

Yeah I have tried to add it. Doesn't work. Only works not rooted.
So looks like I won't be rotting this phone unless @Chainfire thinks it could be fixed or if there is a way to figure out what I root is breaking when it boots up on my phone.
