I figured out how to send, now someone needs to help me figure out how to receive.
To send all you need to is download "Go SMS Pro" from Market and go to settings and configure it. You'll be able to send , but not receive. If anybody gets the receive working post it here, share as I am.

Yes you need your stock MMS.apk , Sounds Like your on cricket? Either way this should direct you in right spot http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=762756
Are you on WiFi? mms over WiFi is a known issue. Try turning off WiFi and sending over 3G only.

solution
I had the same problem, i contacted my service provider (vodafone) and after 20mins of them doing something on my phone (and a small charge for the service) MMS messages are all go
You must turn on the internet, turn off firewall, and tune your phone.
Thnx for the advise guys!!! I didnt have the conversations.apk and was using handcent and i guess it doesnt work with that app anymore. Now im using go sms pro andit works great.

Is there any app that can send an apk via sms? If so would the receiving party also need to have that app installed? (My guess is yes but thought I'd ask) & before someone says just send it via email or bluetooth..yes I know about those methods but I'm looking to send it specifically via sms.
The only way i know of would be to upload to dropbox then send a link. Pretty sure you cannot send an actual apk

you cant file transfer over sms sadly. would be a great feature though. Our phones become more n more like computers every year and i think at some point we will be able too. Or im just to hopefull
Thanks guys, I figured that much. Hopefully in the near future it'll be something we can do.
Try the : apk extractor.. That app might let you do what your trying to do if any app can do it its this one

Hmmm ... sms is a text based service .... so normaly there is no way to transfer files. You could try mms and sending the apk as a jpg or something. This may work.

Flashed successfully last week, rooted now and running CM10 with ParanoidAndroid 2.54. Talk, SMS, Web, Wi-Fi, Bluethooth, pretty much everything but MMS. I installed APN Backup - Restore, used TB Pro and added as system app.
Backed up current APN list, downloaded and edited to what I have found on the interwebz as the correct APN settings for Verizon, copied back to device and restored through APN Backup and Restore, no errors or issues. Reboot, sent test MMS, nadda, zip, zilch. Message is stuck "Sending..." forever..
I know about GO SMS, however all it does is send a hyperlink of the image to the recipient to go fetch the attachment, which I can pretty much do with DropBox and enable camera uploads..
Did I search the fourms? Yes I friggin did! If anyone out there can point me to the right file, APN list, anything ... I would appreciate it :good:

I've noticed that I can only send 1 or 2 pictures at a time in the stock message app. Is anyone else having this issue? My daughter's iPhone can send more then that to me in 1 message. Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Thanks
Yep. That's why I went with textra.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using xda premium
I tried textra and it won't even let me send 1 picture. It says file to large. I'm only sending pictures I've taken with my phone and they are only 8 mb pictures at that
I send 11 pics at a time with textra.

Maybe I have a setting set incorrectly. Do u use it stock or did u tweak some of the settings
U don't have to tweak anything for pics. It should just work.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using xda premium
I deleted and reinstalled textra and I can't send any picture's at all! Texts are fine but no pictures and no matter what I do I can't seem to get it to work
Go into mms settings and manually check configure apn. Look at pic below.

Has to do something with your apn. So with or without that checked u still can't send pics?

Go to Settings>More Networks>Mobile Networks>Access Point Names
Match up what I haveā¦
Report back if its the same. If not then either check the current APN used and see if its matched up or create a new APN and match up with mine. Then save it. Then reboot your phone. Then try picture sending again.
Yes but now I believe it's an att issue in my area. My friends and family are now also having the same issue,so I believe once the art issue is resolved textra will work.

So you're saying your APN matches mine?
Yes it matches yours exactly. The reason I think it's an art issue is because now when I turn off my WiFi I can't load the play store or YouTube and when I access the Internet it takes forever before any Web page will load
Sorry att issue. Damn auto correct

If I were you I would go to the AT&T site and open up a chat with a rep. Discuss your issue and see what they say. They will be able to tell you if there is network issues in your area or not and provide solutions.
Update. Att had a service area issue and got that resolved and now textra is working great! Thanks to everyone for your help on this thread.
