[Q] From Vodafone branded HTC Desire Z (Android 2.3.3, 2.42.161.2) to CM 7

Hey
Situation: stuck with Vodafone branded HTC Desire Z (Android 2.3.3, 2.42.161.2), tried a couple of tutorials (none worked)
Aim: a super-slick, witty HTC Desire Z with CyanogenMod 7 or Virtuous
Is root access necessary to install a stock HTC ROM or a mod?
Do I need S-Off for that?
Help is much appreciated ($$$)

[Q] Cant find RUU help needed

I have bought my HTC Desire in India.
It is unbranded.
This is the information:
Build Number: 2.13.720.2
Baseband version: 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2
I am unable to find the RUU on this link

So what should I do??
Which RUU will suit the device and won't brick it.
Do i need to create a Goldcard???

I would say use the htc asia india one, since youre from india ;p and you bought it there.

But the build and baseband do not match. Would it be compatible with the phone.
I do not have much knowledge am a noob.

You won't know until you try. If it fail, it would say some CID errors (your phone won't brich, don't worry) and you will need a goldcard to RUU

You are HTC Asia India. It's the .720. That tells us that. To use any other RUU (i.e not .720.) You need a gold card.
Although if the 2.3.3 HTC dev gingerbread installs, this is still under warranty anyway

Hi There,
I'm completely new to the Android scene and I was wondering if anybody could help me to root, install a virtuous ROM and possibly overclock my HTC Desire Z?
Specifications:
HTC Desire Z
Android 2.3.3 with HTC Sense 2.1
Kernal Ver. 2.6.35
Software/Build Number 2.42
I'm a complete noob! so help would be greatly appreciated so I can unlock the full potential of my DZ!

Need help with my dhd

Hey, as you'll all notice I'm a complete newbie to all this and could do with some help.
I have a branded DHD (t-mobile UK) and would like to know of a beginner's guide on how to get Sense 3.0 and Android 2.3.5? As I'm still waiting on T-Mobile releasing their version of the updates and tbh I've waited far too long now as my friends who are on other networks had their OTA update months ago. My warranty has ran out (i think) so I've decided after reading a few threads on here that rooting is for me.
Also, could someone confirm my software is branded, if you can...

Sense 3.0
Baseband 12.54.60.25U_26.09.04.11_M2
Build No. 2.50.110.5.CL123205
Software No. 2.50.110.5
Any help would be greatly appreciated thanks in advance

if your going to root it anyways shouldent matter if its brandet
i cant see out from your info if it is or not only what version android and radio you use...

Forgot to include kernel ver: 2.6.35.10-gd2564fb [email protected]#1

Best thing to do is to unbrand your phone and then update it to 2.3.5. Done that with my Branded DHD on ThreeUK, worked like a charm. Ill post on how to unbrand soon

downgrade Desire HD

Hi,
Im having difficulty finding a new downgrade for my desire hd.
currently it has software no:3.12.405.1 running...
can someone please advise me of the best link to downgrade to 1.36.
