HI, i am new here and i found this forum very informative.
i rooted my evo but i cannot figure out how to install themes i found here so please help
also i cannot find goole search by voice anymore. where can i get it again and how to install it.
please help, i spent the last few days trying but i cant find instructions for the themes.
thank you
Most of the themes on the site are installed by flashing ( just like custom roms ), the only exception i can think of off the top of my head is the Gala S Theme ( my personal favorite ) which you can either flash, although it doesn't work with the latest nightly's for CM6, or use Metamorph to apply the theme, which does work up to & including last night's build.

thank you so much. but i do not know the steps to install a theme. metamorph would not work because it says there is no space ( somehow )
so if you know how to flash it in let me know please.
thank you for the quick respond
Which theme are you looking at? If it's flashable, drop it on your SD Card, boot into recovery, Flash Zip from SD Card, & go from there.

DO NOT UNZIP THE FILE
1. Drop the zip file to the root dir of your sd card
2. boot into recovery
3. select flash file from sd card
4. select the theme file and let it do the work
5. When it's done it'll tell you "install from sd card complete"
6. reboot

Hey Guys!
I was just wondering if it'd be possible to get the rotary Lockscreen on HTC Desire. I found the Thread in the Theme Section but it seems that the .zip-file from there isn't working, 'cause there isn't actually a Lockscreen in it. The Vanilla Lockscreen is in every Smartphone with Android, because it's part of the OS, but not the rotary... So shouldn't there be a Lockscreen itself anywhere? In the zip from the other Thread there is only a META-INF folder and the system/framework folder with the android.policy.odex file in it...Or is the screen itself in the odex file? The whole zip is about 1MB big...Not very much
Thanks for your help in advance!
There is a lockacreen apk in the market that has the rotary one. Maybe not what your looking for but its an easy fix. I'll post a link when I find it
From a galaxy far far away....
Yeah, you mean such apps like Lockbot etc. Don't like 'em, 'cause you can sometimes see the original (Sense) Lock and it's just not the same like the real thing, you know?
But thanks anyway
EDIT: Thanks to the Mod who moved it into the Q&A Section and sorry for the extra work...
Check out this thread
I assume you've seen this thread already :hxxp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=686567
The thing is you need to flash the zip through the recovery, then it will work.
Cheers
At first, I started the phone with the Volume Down and the Power Button, went into Recovery (Clockworkmod) and went into the Menu where I can mount and unmount drives, 'cause it didn't work via Terminal. I've got no idea, why, but it just didn't work. When I saw that /system was mounted, I cd'd into the system/app folder and renamed the Htclockscreen.apk to Htclockscreen.bak, so the phone won't find the Sense Lock. Then, I typed in "Exit". My next step was, to mount the sd-card in Clockwork, because the file needs to be pushed onto the SD. No problem, the file (update_rotary.zip) was pushed successfully by adb. So I chose "choose .zip from SD-Card" (or smth. like that ) in Clockwork and clicked on the update_rotary.zip. The flash went on without problems and was, of course, very fast, because of the small filesize. After flashing the update_rotary I chose Reboot Phone and it went to the white HTC Screen. Nothing special. Then it showed the Bootscreen (HTC - Quietly Brilliant) - nothing special, too. But after a short time, the Bootscreen started new every 4 or 5 Seconds. So the Bootanimation was finished and began from new...Bootloop. And that was with ev'ry Rom I've tried. And every Rom I tried was deodexed, like it has to be....So I think I didn't make any mistakes and if so, please post them so I can try it
Clockwork has known wiping issues.
AmonRa is what most use.
Wipe cache
Wipe Dalvik
Choose zip and flash
Reboot.
If that doesn't work redownload your zip or revert the adb changes u made. Hope this helps. Sounds like your on the right track.
Ps. That app is called lockbotpro
But I know what u mean "its not the same"
From a galaxy far far away....
Thanks...Gonna try it right now
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
EDIT: Installing AmonRA v5 first
EDIT2: AmonRA on my phone, flashing AuraxTSense right now, 'cause its deodexed. And that is important for this Mod
EDIT3: Made the changes. Waiting for reboot....
Reboots every 5 or 6 seconds....I think that's a Bootloop, eh? Hate it! I'd love to have that Lockscreen!

I've made this build based on great prj Clean Desire v0.3.2 build. It has the same features + I’ve added things that I was missing the most:
Clockwork Mod 1.3
Apps2SD+
Evo keyboard
Reboot option in shutdown menu
Notification Menu Power Control Widgets
Un-squashfsed, oxed system app and framework
ROM is rooted (SU app + SU binaries)
Percentage display on battery
Fast and low battery drain
Now you don’t have to worry about decreasing internal storage when you install more application. You don’t also lose access to application when you phone is connected in drive mode to computer, because application data is being hold on ext3 partition on SD card. That partition isn’t mounted when your phone is connected to computer. The things that are redirected to this partition are: /data/app, /data/app-private, /data/dalvik-cache and /data/data.
Requirements:
MAGLDR v1.13
ClockworkMod Recovery v1.3 (included with package)
Changelog:
v1.4
fixed missing APN's and hopefully data connection drop
hopefully fixed low call volume
v1.3
added Notification Menu Power Control Widgets (based on JsChiSurf and mendozinas work; see screenshots; thanks to mini_robot; you can customize this widgets using notification.widgets_signed.zip addon)
hopefully fixed high call volume (thanks to athulag and oyvpet)
added option to install without SD card
now by default after clean installing /data/data folder also will be moved to SD card (you will have more free internal storage; if you'd like to have /data/data on NAND use data2NAND.cmd script from "extras" folder)
v1.2
fixed Angry Birds issue (fixed problem with installing big apps; it needs repartition of NAND; see upgrade info)
v1.1
Supports AD Recovery in MAGLDR (now you have access to ClockworkMod Recovery from NAND partition)
added Evo keyboard as default
added reboot option (normal and hot restart, based on snq- mod) to shutdown menu (see screenshots)
for those who would like to customize their themes I’ve added an optional skink_Clean_Desire_v1.1_update_deodex_signed.zip deodexed package (see addons)
v1.0 initial release
based on prj Clean Desire v0.3.2
basically clean Desire build
removed: Maps, Youtube, GMail, Flash Player, Facebook (these was old version; install what you need using Market)
un-squashfsed, oxed system app and framework
ROM is rooted (SU app + SU binaries)
percentage display on battery
no 60ma drain after call
Wifi mac individual for every device
Smartass governor by default
G-Sensor freeze fixed
low volume in-call fixed

skink_Clean_Desire_v1.1_update_deodex_signed.zip 11-02-2011 - for those who would like to customize their themes
For version 1.0:
EVO.Keyboard.zip 28-01-2011 - for those of you who misses Evo keyboard from prj build v0.2 (it has got arrow keys)
Original.Keyboard.zip 28-01-2011
Supported themes:
Carbon Ara V2.5 + Power Control Widget for Sense ROM [UPDATE: 2011.02.11]
If you’re looking for custom themes you can check http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=630 forum, where you can find lots of modifications. Not all will work but you can try (always make CWM backup before). Main reason why it’s not working is old type of META-INF\com\google\android\update-script in update.zip. You have to convert it to updater-script. Please post here any working theme and I’ll update list.
How to install custom theme:
Power on phone holding power button to access to MAGLDR menu.
Select the "AD Recovery" item.
Select the "backup and restore->Backup" item.
After backup will be done select the "reboot system now" item.
Using USB cable connection or SD card reader copy downloaded custom theme zip to root folder of SD card.
Clean /data/dalvik-cache folder (use "rm -rf /data/dalvik-cache/*" in android terminal or in adb shell on pc or Advanced > Wipe Dalvik Cache option in CWM).
Reboot phone and hold power button to access to MAGLDR menu while booting.
Select the "AD Recovery" item.
Select the "install zip from sdcard->choose zip from sdcard" item and select downloaded custom theme zip.
After flashing will be done select the "reboot system now" item.
Eventually if something goes wrong use CWM "backup and restore->Restore" item to restore from backup.

Everything is ok. It's just how Apps2sd+ work. You have ext3 partition on SD card that you normally don't see under SD & phone storage. On this partition are stored /data/app, /data/app-private and /data/dalvik-cache (eventually /data/data if you use method described under tips). This folders are linked to folders on internal storage. So for android nothing changed, but when you install apps they are physically stored on /system/sd/app, /system/sd/app-private and /system/sd/dalvik-cache. The simplest way to check available space is to use Titanium Backup. On first page you see: Internal Storage free space, SD card free space an SD card (a2sd) free space. (you can also use terminal app and command: df –h)
How add "reboot" option in "long press power button" menu? Or can someone help find app or widjet for phone rebooting, that work whit this build?
Is this ROM rooted? I remember I've tried to make my prj 0.3.2 rom see ad-hoc networks but I didn't manage to replace a "wpa supplicant" file.
Also, I'd like to go back to the good old sense ui in froyo

On /system partition it should be about 12.3MB free space. This is normal, because this partition is for system use only. The important for user is /data partition and after fresh install it should be about 140MB free space. If you also use “Tip” from first post you get additional free space because /data/data folder is moved to ext3 partition. For example on my phone on which I have almost 50 application installed I still have 147MB free on internal storage (/data partition).
As for message that you received just click wait.

Yes this ROM is rooted. As for this file the problem that you have in prj v0.3.2 appeared because /system partition is mounted as read-only. I can make update.zip for you that you can use as described in addons section and change wpa_supplicant file.

Very nice work bro....many many thanks from Greece
I have a small problem i installed font installer from the market and now after uninstalling the keyboard is stuck on the font that was last installed by the app. I have gone through the root of my sd to find the apk from which the keyboard is installed and cannot for the life of me find it. I thought maybe if i could find it wiping cache and data on that apk would remove it. If there is anyone out there that may be able to help i would greatly appreciate it.
As seen in pic its only the keyboard. Also kote that swype keyboard and gingerbread keyboard are both the same as the system font for some reason its only this keyboard and that is it.

Flash your last back up from cwm?
Or try to install the app again and set it to the default font then uninstall it.
In the future use the built in flipfont.
Deebo took your bike too?
Hey there everyone. Here is the story in list format.
- Got first Galaxy S2 (Tmobile)
- after a few days rooted the phone using odin
- uninstalled bloatware via titanium back up pro
- installed a few apps(fb, twitter, swift key x, mobli, two different font changers)
- everything was running smoothly until i actually installed a font and the app prompted for a reboot.
- i reboot and the booting process freezes at the bootloader logo (tried countless times)
- i enter recovery mode to wipe phone.
- wipe phone.
- same issue.
- i thought then that the phone had some sort of issue in itself.
- i take the phone to tmobile a few days later and tell em some bs.
- get my new phone.
- root it again same way.
- uninstall all the bloatware i want gone and install all the apps i want.
- again SAME thing happens when i install this font changing program.
the program downloads previews for 146ish fonts. you select one. it actually downloads it and reassigns the default font with the font you download and after a reboot it should work.
except i get a frozen bootloader screen. so this time around i am convinced of the app somehow messing with the bootloader settings (etc...)
soooo...i decide to flash "SGH-T989 UVKID // Insecure // Root // Busybox" by bubby323.
odin says its successful, but still same freezing issue at bootloader.
help please.
Your problem is with the ROM. Boot into recovery, mount USB, put the ROM on your SD card and flash it from recovery.
Also, stop using that app

There are drivers posted in the dev section, be sure to try and download them again.
Your phone's "/sdcard/" location is actually an internal SD card. So when you use CWM to mount the sdcard, it will mount both the internal, and external SD card if it can. So you should still be able to do it.
as you said i was able to mount and copy over the rom, but after i copied over the rom file, it does not show on the android cwm file menu. maybe if i restart the phone?ill try it now.
still no go the rom file is not showing, the drivers have been installed. i reinstalled them JUST in case.
maybe i'm doing something.
- i mount usb storage
- copy over rom tar files
- unmount and look for it in the apply update from sd card and install zip from sd card selections but both show no files.
alright well after a few hours of trying a million different things...the only thing that worked was eaglesblood rom via cwm mount. thanks romanb for helping.

FAQ CreedROM:
First, thanks to @leal by the FAQ, good work! :good:
WARNING: After installing a new rom, many of malfunction or when running applications are caused by improper installation, hence the importance of following the steps outlined.
QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
1. - How is that version I have now?
Go to Settings / phone information, there you will see the Android version, the version of the baseband and kernel version.
2. - How to know if I have the generic IMEI?
Easy: Settings -> About phone -> Status -> IMEI
If it starts with 0049, you have the generic
3. - How I can get my original IMEI if I lost when installing a ROM?
Have one bakup your efs folder? look in the internal memory if you aver a folder called backup or backup efs .. roms sometimes make you the efs automated backups. if you have the backup you follow these steps to restore friend @ Dexafree:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IYjWmVpoRa4
or this method (thanks to Palmatron):
Take the copy of the EFS folder with the original IMEI and paste it into the internal memory of the terminal.
Download Galaxy S Unlock: https://play.google.com/store/apps/d....galaxysunlock
Once installed, and with any file explorer (ES File Explorer, OI File Manager, etc), we see that we have created a folder called Galaxy_S_Unlock.
After verifying that the folder is created, move the EFS folder before we copied to the internal memory of the terminal (or whatever ... the folder with our original IMEI), inside the folder called Galaxy_S_Unlock.
Once done, open the application Galaxy S Unlock, and we see up there is a tab called Unlock. Chop it and choose all the options behind option # 3 and setting; Restore EFS Saved Folder.
Once chopped this option opens another box that says; Restore efs folder saved?. Chop to YES and once told us Restored, restart the terminal and you should have the original IMEI in place, whereby all options function calls, messages, and other programs.
I hope this does not lie more as my only intention is to facilitate (or rolling), over the issue of the restoration of the original IMEI after get out the generic.
If you have no backup of efs, do clean install JVU with odin and hopefully will return your original IMEI ...
4. - What is a clean install?
It's about doing a clean installation of an official rom, which has not been modified by any cook, with the aim that our phone be as clean as possible before installing the desired rom and avoid installation errors that may cause malfunction. The usual process, for example, is as follows, of course making for wipes and formatting between versions.
- Installing the JVU
- Install CF-Root for JVU
- Wipe data, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache and format system
- Install v10 CreedROM
5. - What is the recommended way to install the CreedROM v10?
There are two possible cases:
A-If you have installed any other CreedROM I recommend you do all the wipes, because I've taken things in system, the procedure would be:
- Wipe data / factory reset.
- Wipe cache.
- Wipe dalvik cache (in advanced).
