Hi everyone... so I have been endlessly trying to get my Wildfire to send stuff to my mac, my pc or my ubuntu.... but nothing....
Long story short, after pairing I see right underneath the paired device's name 'Paired, but not connected'..... I can receive files just fine, the issue's with sending them... it just miserably fails... I have tried them all: Bluetooth File Transfer, Astro Bluetooth Module... you name it but nothing seems to work, any ideas?
My wildfire's running CM 7.0.3.
i solved this issue today on my win7. basically I just removed the phone from the system 5-6 times and kept pairing from windows until it gave up
I also flashed .20 radio
tomorrow it might decide not to work though...

Can you send files to other cell phone's via Bluetooth File Transfer etc???
I just extracted the BluetoothServices.apk (using ROM Kitchen)... tried to install it on my wilfire but miserably failed... so I thought it could be a compatibility issue (the stock rom being froyo and all).... is there a way to somehow recompile an apk without the source code??
I tried what ameya88 suggested and it works, it can both send and receive files from other phones, the problem seems to be with sending files to computers, I guess.
I had the same problem. Make sure your MAC is set to share with Bluetooth in sharing settings.

To be honest, the bluetooth functionality in Android is complete and utter rubbish. I've never been able to make use of it properly, without some sort of problems. Not being able to send files is the most annoying issue. Apparently there's a 3rd party app that works ok for this, but it really should work natively imo. Google, get your act together! This has been a problem for years now!
use "Bluetooth file transfer" ew can send files easily and at super fast speed

Is tehre any way to AUTO accept bluetooth file transfers from paired devices at least? It's kind of annoying that the phone just can't get the file and let me deal with it later without my interaction.
I believe when you get the "Accept Transfer" window up there is a check box to allow that device to send without confirmation from that point on. I can't check because I believe I've already done it with my laptop and so I don't get a confirmation alert any more, the files just transfer. I've turned BT on and off on my laptop and restarted the phone and it still doesn't so I'm sure I got it to do that.
I believe there's not not on my desire anyway, it's just accept or deny and there is no option to "always allow" so I have no idfea how to maek the phone STOP ASKING
Well, I just deleted my phone from my laptops paired devices and vice versa on my phone.
I made the phone discoverable and sent a file from the laptop. First the laptop searched for it and found it, I selected it and a request to "pair" showed on the phone. I clicked Pair and confirmed on the laptop, a second confirmation popped up to show a pass key and confirm the same was showing on the other device, being my laptop. This was correct so I confirmed on the phone and again on my laptop.
Finally it tried to send the file and a third and final confirmation screen has popped up. It says "Device <laptop> has requested permission to access the files on this phone." There is an option to allow or not and above that is a check box that says "Always"
You're saying you don't get that "Always" check box? I'm looking right at it.
I am scratching my head, what in lords name, well I don't have one I will go through the pairing procedure again and see if I magically get one but I never seen it so far weirdly enough!
Redid the entire procedure and find no box anywhere what so ever

Very strange. I've paired two different laptops this way, one a Dell another a Toshiba, both with different blue-tooth stacks (Toshiba and Microsoft)
so st range I've now tried pairing it with another cell too, I STILL never get a darn checkbox. I do get a checkbox to always allow the computer to connect, so far I'm good, but when I send a file I still get the box to accept or deny the file and there is no check box at all in this dialog.

Got no problems with connect confirmation. Paired my Jabra BT car speaker and since then when I turn it on - it automaticly connects with Desire without askin' me for permission.
Just thought I would chime in, I have the check box and checked it but it still asks me everytime anyway lol
lol, now that's helpful, even if I get the darn box it won't help me!
I was looking for some auto accepting app but there seems to be none so guess I (+ a few more) are the only ones having this problem.
BT Stacks?
I'm using the Toshiba bluetooth stack which does give you the 'always' option, but my HTC Hero (Fresh ROM 2.XXX - the latest as of 06/06/2010) asks every time anyway.
At some point I believe I had my phone auto accepting the file transfers from my home comp, but I can't remember which BT stack I was using. As for the phone I had Sprint's Android 1.5 release.
Maybe its the combination, you guys mind letting me know what BT stack and phone OS combo you're using? It's pretty annoying to have to confirm each send, since I can't send folders (never been able to do that with my Hero). I can send 10 files at a time though (think thats a BT stack restriction, since nothing happens when I try to send 20 files)

Weird. I've basically given up on this one though some say it works some say it doesn't. Gotta pick you fights, I'll just accept manually for now.
I don't have this auto-accept checkbox either... why??
HTC Hero using Android 2.2 with FroydVillain 1.4.4
I can get mine to auto accept file transfer by sliding down to the notification view. It ask for the first file, I accept, during the file transfer, I slide down the notification view and then it auto accepts the following transfers. If I get out of the notification view, it starts to ask me again. Weird...
May be it works also for U
Mine always asks me to accept communication with another device (at this point I tick the 'Always accept' box), then asks me to confirm file transfer.
Every time after this I stil have to confirm the latter, as there is no tick box for that one!!
Is this the same as other people are experiencing?
BlueTooth File Transfer Confirmation
Folks, I think this is what your looking for, let me see if I get this right > you want to transfers files i.e.(FTP,OPP,BIP files, or Files, Objects,& Images) to a Laptop and you keep getting the message that says "File Transfer Confirmation". If this is the problem you can try this.
Start>Bluetooth (all programs) > Bluetooth setting>Options>security Tab>Custom Level> under Bluetooth Information Exchange>uncheck boxes> Display File Transfer, Display Object Push, & Display Image Transfer.
Now when you Bluetooth to your laptop the file transfer window will appear to show you that something is transferring but will no longer ask you to accept it.
Make sure that you have chosen what location you want the files going into, because if you want to change where it is being saved, than you have to go back into Bluetooth setting to do so.
Hope this helps. - Jason

I cant send or receive files via bluetooth, and i tried couple softwares, it still didnt work. do u guys have the same problem?
Bluetooth file transfer for me actually only works if I DON'T use any app at all. I just pair my laptop to my phone and then use my laptop to browse the phone and send/copy files that way, and now I do it all the time for pretty much all files. I used to use Bluetooth File Transfer app, but now if I open it, for whatever reason, they can't pair properly.
Well, i have tried that app before, but it seemed didnt work well. Hope DIY roms will fix it.

Yeah, that's what I'm saying. That app (and no other I've tried) works. It actually works for me when I don't use any app at all and just pair my phone to my laptop through the native Bluetooth settings and then navigate to my phone on my laptop. Then Bluetooth file transfers work really well
Ok, I know I'm not crazy, but is there ANY way, besides Bluetooth, to transfer large files between the LGOG and another Phone?
I've tried the LGOG's FileShare app but it refuses to recognize my GS3 even after they both connect via Wi-Fi Direct. And just using plain ol' Wi-Fi Direct doesn't even come up as a sharing option on this phone. I can't use NFC obviously because it's only intended for small files and links. I've already tried bluetooth, but I have another thread floating around this forum detailing my experience with my LGOG being unable to connect to ANY other phone after it powercycled when connected to a friend's GS3. (On a side note, it did it AGAIN when I was connected to my bluetooth speaker today)
This is the only thing that freaking bugs the hell out of me about this device. The lack of options to wirelessly share files between devices. Obviously my bluetooth is most likely defective. Waiting on a custom OS to see if that will resolve my BT issues. But come on, this is ridiculous.
EDIT:
Oh, and the SmartShare app limits you to only Pictures, Video, and Music!
You could always connect both phones to a PC and put them in MTP mode (not charge mode) and the PC will recognize them both as a media player, allowing you to browse the entire file system. Then just copy the file from one phone to the other using PC.
Can't WiFi direct be used? I know you tried it but maybe your doing something wrong. Sadly I've never messed with it

Well, I have a GS3 also. On that phone, whenever you long press on a file/app and click "Share", Wi-Fi Direct comes up as one of the options to use as a file transfer medium. All you have to do is clock wifi direct and click the device and BOOM! The file starts sending. However, on the LGOG, it's not that simple for some odd reason. I can turn on wifi direct on both phones AND link them. But if i wanna send a file from my LGOG to another wifi direct device, it doesn't come up as a share option. You can open up Smartshare and use the LGOG like a DLNA server and play/upload music, movies, and pictures from the LGOG to the other wifi direct device. But Smartshare (unless i'm using it wrong) only limits you to those three options. What if I want to transfer an 850MB .zip or .iso file???
You could try "samba file sharing" on the market. Phone should show as a samba share on your windows network. Then you can use es file explorer, LAN, access the share. Have not tried, but this should enable wireless file sharing.

Haha, so funny that you mentioned that app. I did an intense search and ended up stumbling on Samba Fileshare a few hours after my last post. Has a tendency to force close every now and then but it works pretty good.
So, I have been having problems with the Bluetooth on my S4 since I got it, and so have some other people based on my research. I am now hearing scattered reports that whatever update AT&T put out (the apps on the SD card update) has solved the problem. I am wondering how hard it would be to look at the update, see what they did, and implement that change on my device somehow? Or, do you think it's heavily tied into other things that wouldn't make it easy? I really don't care about the apps on the SD card and such, but I really need my Bluetooth to work correctly pairing with my vehicle, and I'm getting annoyed that I have had to jump through the hoops I do currently to make it work when the phone is brand new.
As a side note, Windows 7 is telling me it can't find drivers for my phone as well when pairing to my PC via Bluetooth. This also isn't helpful. Possibly not related to the first problem, but has anyone else solved this? I searched around a little and found not much more than "me too" and "same here", but no one really solved how to get it connected properly.
EDIT: I found some information on this update. It looks like the Bluetooth stuff was definitely patched as I suspected. I am still wondering if we can somehow patch this into our phones.
Reference material:
The updater script is HERE which lists Bluetooth a number of times.
Single posts by user Aou posted HERE and HERE also list the Bluetooth changes.
I also found a copy of the update HERE.
So, can I pull the updated stuff from that file and install it on my phone? Or is it more complicated than that?
I use Ford Sync with mine. I have no problems at all.
You may try clearing cache and data on blue tooth. I heard that can solve your problem.
On your pc insall Kies...it will install drivers fir you. Then get rid of Kies...its useless.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the reply. Are you connecting both calls and media audio to your Ford?
A Google search for "Galaxy S4 Bluetooth issues" will show plenty of people having issues, so it's not just my device. Also, this problem has persisted since new, it has NEVER worked right. It has also persisted through multiple ROMs and plenty of wipes and clears. It is an issue in the device itself, hence why the AT&T update fixed it for other people.
Also, not only are the drivers available separate from Kies on Samsung's website (which I use on my laptop), but I do have Kies installed on this PC and it still doesn't work.
Using both media and phone with hyundai premium audio. Syncs contacts and works perfectly every time. Not a single problem with this phone.
I'm not trying to argue that there is something wrong, but there is obviously something different between various manufacturers of vehicles. Here are some threads discussing the problem:
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/278206-galaxy-s4-bluetooth.html
http://forums.androidcentral.com/ve...96510-bluetooth-paired-but-not-connected.html
http://forums.androidcentral.com/samsung-galaxy-s4/290639-bluetooth-will-not-auto-connect-car.html
In one of the threads I have read (can't remember which one), at least two people who previously had the problem said the OTA update from AT&T fixed it. That's all I am getting at. I am wondering what it was in the OTA update that fixed it since obviously I am one of the unlucky people who are experiencing this problem.
Maybe I missed it but what's the issue exactly?
Something that's bugging me, and might be your issue also, is when I'm in the car the phone doesn't automatically connect to my car.
I have a 2012 Jeep Liberty equipped with uConnect and everytime I turn my phone on I have to manually select uConnect in the Bluetooth devices list to pair my device. I don't have to reset it up and pair it from scratch but it doesn't automatically pair for some reason.

This is similar to mine, but not the same. I guess I wasn't very specific, but then again, I'm not trying to solve the problem any other way than seeing the feasibility of porting whatever fix was in the OTA update because I don't believe anything else will fix it. I also contacted the engineering department of the vehicle device and they told me it's a known issue isolated to the Galaxy S4.
Anyway, my phone will reconnect to call audio, but gets stuck connection to media audio and will never connect unless I toggle Bluetooth off then on again. Or, it will connect to call audio, but not re-select the media audio. Everytime I turn off Bluetooth or the car, I have to either re-pair, or toggle it to get it to fully connect. Once it does connect, it's fine.
For what it's worth, the Bluetooth Auto Connect app in the market might fix your issue of automatically re-connecting. Check it out HERE. I had played with this app hoping it would solve my issue by telling it to automatically connect both calling and media audio, but it didn't. Nor did A2DP volume which does similar things. This one can also automatically start an application on connection (for instance I was having it auto start Pandora for me). It also has a feature that can capture your GPS location at the time of disconnect. This means you could get out of your car in a huge parking lot, it captures the GPS location, and you can navigate back to the car later easily. That one can be seen HERE.
Check them out, might fix your problem.

Yes. Multiple times. Again, Google search "Galaxy S4 Windows 7 drivers" will give you a whole list of people who have the same problem...
Strange thing to note. The phone pairs with my laptop running Windows 7 much better. I can play audio through the laptop from the phone, transfer files, etc. The desktop PC displays a message that says the device "needs troubleshooting". When I do that, it says the driver cannon be found, yet it works ok with my laptop. Very strange.
I think I got a fix for you here.

This I can recommend a fix for. I had the same issue with my Clarion aftermarket deck (issue did not occur on my previous Android devices). Google Play Store has an APK called "Bluetooth Auto Connect". This runs as a background process and will fix the issue for you.
\\
Still wondering about extracting whatever they did to the Bluetooth...
Thanks everyone about the recommendation for Bluetooth Auto Connect. Hasn't failed since I installed it, way more convenient now.
Thank you!
Strange issue but i am having issues with Bluetooth connectivity. I don't use bluetooth a lot but occasionally i will use it to transfer a picture from my computer to my phone.
It has worked once or twice but for the most part i keep getting...... "Failed to establish connection" ??
It often asks me to allow bluetooth tethering (no idea why as i have never had to do that before) but even if i do allow it, it makes no difference. Its like it connects as soon as i am about to send the file and then disconnects the second i hit send.
Interestingly i had had this issue before on previous Samsung device but never figured it out either. Whenever i get a new device i always disable a few apps that i don't need/use and i am wondering if maybe i am the cause of the problem! In saying that though. I don't seem to have anything disabled that would interfere with bluetooth and there has been the odd time when it has worked so i cant figure it out!
Any thoughts?

Always figured this was a Windows issue. Had the same problem with my Note 9. Bluetooth setup has both devices connect, but then it automatically disconnects on the phone right after. Trying to send a file to the computer results in an error even though if I try the opposite and send a file to the phone, it works. I tried again when I got my Note 10+ and same result. I used to use bluetooth to stream music to my PC speakers but since maybe around Windows 8.1, I've heard they removed that feature and i figure this is the result of that.
restricted file type? send from sd card?
