[Q] LeeDroid V3.0.8.2 OpenVPN problem - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

HTC Desire, S-On, Leedroid V3.0.8.2
Hi,
I am having a hard time getting OpenVPN to work. Leedroid comes with OpenVPN installed in /system/xbin. I am using OpenVPN Settings from the market to configure and start the connection. Connection and authentification with the server works. Yet, when the server pushes a route I get an "ifconfig failed: cannot execute external program". Ifconfig is in /system/bin.
I don't wanna s-off for the moment.

Same problem for me. Any solutions yet?

[Q] Rom with working VPN (PPTP) support

As stated in the topic I'm looking for a rom with working (!!) VPN support.
I currently have cm7.0.3 installed and can't connect to my VPN via PPTP or OpenVPN. Actually that is not correct... The icon in the statusbar states that I'm connected but no data will get through. I.e. doing a 'ping google.com' from the terminal emulator gives me an 'unable to resolve ...' error. same with any url in the browser and so on (no data connection).
one additional detail: via pptp i have to use encrypted connection ...
thanks for your time reading

[Q] Openvpn to vpntunne.se

hey all
i've installed openvpn to /system/bin and /system/xbin.
i've downloaded openvpnsettings from market and the openvpn.conf and de ca.crt from vpntunnel.se
i put this stuff to /sdcard/OpenVPN and set the tun and the path's right.
but when i will connect i past my user and pass i to the query but then i get an error about the keys are not found and it doesn't connect.

[Q] VPN client suggestion

Does anyone have a recommendation for a good VPN client/service to use with the Inc2 with MIUI?
I've tried Any Connect for Root Devices but I think tun.ko has to be load/baked into the ROM. The app installs successfully and I'm able to get to the login of the VPN server but then it gives me an error, something about secure gateway.

Connect an HTC desire to an ad-hoc network

Ok, i found this tutorial.
ott.net/knowledge/htc-desire-adhoc/
Installed apk and trying to terminal adb shell command and getting error
abd: not found
what is wrong?
this terminal i runned from phone not from pc..
You have to run adb from pc. A guide for installing it can be found in my signature.
TouchPaled from Oxygen with Transparent XDA App
I started adb shell and when enter:
insmod /system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko
I have this error:
insmod: init_module '/system/lib/modules/bcm4329.ko' failed (Operation not permitted)

I have spent some time yesterday trying the exact same thing, I didn't succeed.
For your question:
Try using the command "su" before starting insmod.
Also remember to assign execute permissions to iwconfig, else it will not work either!
I probably did something wrong (or it just doesn't work on my ROM (I'm on redux2)) because i couldnt get it to work.
Also the app ad-hoc (follow the links on his page i think) fails for me. Wifi will go to error state and only reboot makes it work again.
If you succeed please tell us how you did it because I'm veeery interested!
Doesn't work with su command...
I trying to change bcm4329.ko permission with root explorer but nothing happening.
Maybe this is the problem?
And where is located iwconfig file?
Can I change file permission from adb shell and how?
Finaly WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Because, I cant enable ad hoc on my Desire (I try many ways and nothinhg...),
I found another way to share wifi internet from pc to android phone.
This is my way:
Download VirtualRouter
Download fresh wifi drivers for Windows 7 64bit/32bit
Disable IP6 (if you have Windows 7 64bit)
After install VirtualRouter, reset your PC and VirtualRouter will start with your Windows in system tray.
In Network Connections, enable Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter if disabled.
Go to Local Area Connection (your default internet connection), properties -> sharing and check all box. Select home network connection -> Microsoft Virtual WiFi Miniport Adapter or Wireless Network Connection 2.
Run cmd as admin and type this:
netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=Test key=password
netsh wlan start hostednetwork
VR automaticly write ssid and key and starting virtual network.
Desire CAN SEE this network, and you CAN CONNECT!
If you have problems go here.

I work in the same way (with connectify)>
Too bad you couldn't get ad-hoc to work, i would like to have that solution, it is more elegant.

[Q] OpenVPN on CM9?

Does anybody here use OpenVPN with CM9? What OpenVPN settings and/or kernel are you using with success? I've tried it with the stock CM9 kernel, but no good. It connects and everything indicates it should be working, but nothing gets through.
Hi,
I'm trying to configure it at the moment with my Nexus One using the new 7.2 CM, but I didn't fully succeed for the moment. I can connect, ping the lan machines, ping everything on the web through the vpn, but I couldn't surf or use any web services. Server is on a Win7 x64 pc, I suspect a server bad configuration (first try).
Android 2.3.7
kernel 2.6.37.6-cyanogenmod-g0799e00
last openvpn server version
I tried with the openvpn software supplied with CM, but it seems better and faster with OpenVpn Installer + OpenVpn Settings android packages. Plus it provides ovpn client logs, DNS settings, auto reconnect, .conf/ovpn files and a simplified certificates system.
Hope this helps...
I used the openvpn installer and openvpn settings apps, but couldn't get it to work. I'm still investigating. It's strange because I've tried using different roms and kernels already.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA
