When I send a status message to Facebook from People Hub (and untick the Windows Live in People), it still sends the same status update to my Windows Live account and Messenger. Why?
SOLUTION:
I just remembered that this issue started to happen when I tied my Facebook chat to the new Windows Live Essentials 2011 (Messenger). Since the messenger syncs my Facebook chat (and also my status updates) with my Windows Live Messenger, the only way to solve this issue is to get rid of the connection to Facebook in your Windows Live account. Just tap your name in the Messenger and then tap "Show profile". From there, you can disconnect from Facebook.
Sorry,
But your post is useless and meaningless and nothing but detritus to the XDA community if you don't share your solution with us
Someone else may have the same problem as you, and search the forums for information and a possible answer.
If they're lucky sifting through the thousands of threads and posts they may find this thread you've started and think they've found a gold nugget, only to discover you were too lazy to share your solution
So please have a thought for others too

There you go (and all other members), I posted the solution. Sorry for my lazyness .

So i installed the Mango Beta, but i have had trouble setting up Facebook chat.
Every time i go to, it try to do it, it clearly tries to do some oAuth authentication. Most of the time i get a "The address is not valid" in a browser control. Sometimes i get another weird error (it hasn't come up in a while).
So I'm wondering if anyone else has tried this, if they have had they had any success, or if they have found a way around it?
I have tried over both 3g and Wifi.
Same problem on my wp, and i still haven't had success

It seems that you have to add the Facebook Service via Live so that the Facebook Chat gets enabled. I have managed to activate FB Chat on my phone now, but still there are no contacts online. Gonna have to look into that.
Some people said to delete the Facebook account from the phone and add it again but it didn't work for me, same error :/
Works fine for me, I already had fb connected to live though so try that
Sent from my OMNIA7 using XDA Windows Phone 7 App
I already had it set up with live for 9months or so now.
But i just checked it now, and it enabled its self and is working AFTER (about 30minutes after) i went to account settings and syncronised my facebook account...
Its must just be a werid beta issue
I don't think it is a WP issue (well the whole page loading error is) but my contacts aren't populating the desktop client. Everyone has reported that once the desktop client populated with FB chat friends, that it immediately started working on their phone. So there is some issue going on between IM and FB.

Ya i guess that's the problem once you're connected.
My contacts are also not shown in the Windows Live Messenger. (I have to admit - I do not have the Messenger installed, but the contacts are not shown on the Windows Live Website neither)

I was able to force my Windows Live and Facebook accounts to sync up by just going to accounts and pressing them and choosing 'sync'. Did Windows Live first, then Facebook and a minute later all was well.

I was also able to get mine to work doing this.
Took a bunch of hours, but Facebook Chat finally works perfectly.
Mine says "error0" or something like that when go to my Facebook account in Email+Accounts, can't use Facebook chat.

Tried everything I can. Went into FB on my computer, deleted the Live Messenger client, re-installed. Everything, but nothing. When add friends, it says I either have no friends, or that I already invited them.
Dunno.

Set everything up, and just sit tight for a day. Let is all sink in.
I just got my fb chat working this is how you do it!
Disable facebook chat in the message settings.
Login to your live.com account you used for your phone.
add facebook if it's not under services already. it is click on it anyways and just then click on save. Back on live.com you should now see messenger friends, and it should show all the people facebook available for chat.
Now go to your phone, settings, email accounts, and sync the live account first, then sync your facebook account.
Go back to messaging and settingsm turn fb chat on and everyone should show up! Atleast this is what worked for me, but you have to login to live.com on your laptop, not your phone.

I just manually sync'd my account & it worked fine after... Took my phone a little to pull in my exchange contacts tho

Update: Got it working!
Here is how to connect your Messaging Hub to Facebook Chat:
On your phone, remove the Facebook account setup
On your PC (or in IE9 on the phone), go to home.live.com.
Under "Messenger social" click "Connect Facebook"
Go through the steps to connect Facebook to your Live account
On your phone, add the Facebook account under 'Settings' / 'Email and Accounts'
When it asks if you want to connect to Facebook Chat, tap 'Not now'.
Let it sync
Facebook Chat should automatically be activated as long as it has finished its initial syncing
If you want to check if it's activated:
Go to the Messaging Hub
Tap 'Settings'
Facebook Chat is the first option and should be activated. If not, you can activate it now.
Initial post: I have been attempting to setup Facebook Chat through the Messaging Hub in Mango, but after it says "We're connecting to Facebook" it just puts me on the Mobile version of my Facebook homepage but doesn't ask me to do anything and is not setup on the Messaging Hub when I hit the back arrow.
Has anyone had success connecting the Messaging Hub to Facebook Chat? If so, how did you go about doing it? Changing settings in IE9 doesn't seem to do anything about it.
Ahh same here, fb chat worked in mango b2 but once I updated to 7712 it stopped working

Mine wasn't working in the first Beta 2 either. I suppose this is a Beta limitation so hopefully it'll be fixed in the final version.
You can try linking your Facebook and Windows Live on your computer. I had this setup initially and never had a single issue with fb chat on any mango beta.

You can try the menthod i am trying.
1. Link your Live ID with Facebook (Piece of Cake), make sure you can chat with someone on Facebook through Windows Live Messenger (On the PC)
2. Add Facebook to your phone
3. Choose "not now" when it asks you if you want Facebook chat on yourphone
4. Let it sync
5. You are done.
If you don't understand that much, just shoot me a reply, i will guide you step by step.
Mine didn't work until I performed these steps....
1) Go to Home.Live.com and choose to sync Facebook with my Live account
2) Remove the Facebook account from my phone
3) Re-add the Facebook account to my phone
4) Re-attempt to enable Facebook Chat on my phone, which then worked properly
It's been great ever since!
Got it working! I deleted the Facebook account setup on my phone, associated my Live ID with Facebook through live.com, re-added the Facebook account on my phone, and it worked. Thank you guys!
After i update official Mango, I can't see my twitter contacts. I could do it with mango RTM version and I create group and see only the news of group, idem to facebook. Now with official Mango it's not possible.
Look in People Hub/Settings/Filter my contact list. It looks like they defaulted to Twitter contacts off for the official release, but you can check a box in the filter list that will show your Twitter contacts in the People hub.

Just saw this discussion... so apparently there is some issue beyond a filter default. On my Focus it was toggled off by default, but turning it on in the contacts filter works... for others that is not working.
Same here to me. People hub dont show Twitter contacts... But new feeds still works.
Never happen in Mango RTM before...

Hi hoaisonongame
My device does not show twitter contacts in the people hub since performing the upgrade. I get the tweets in the news stream but can't see the contacts.
Cheers

Yes I saw this but don't works for me in LG E900h
I was on the leaked RTM and recall it took while for me to get it working. I just looked at my phone, and sure enough, Twitter handles were not in my contacts. I went to the options and checked the box to add Twitter to my contacts (it must have become unchecked during my "samsung update") and that didn't work. I deleted my Twitter account from my phone, powered my phone off/on, added Twitter again, checked the box to add Twitter to my contacts and now it works again. It still shows that Twitter is syncing, but I checked a contact and it's there again. Sounds like part of the upgrade process screwed everything up, but I can confirm I got it working again.
Mine were showing, but then vanished.
I deleted the Twitter account from the phone, reset the phone, then re-added my twitter account, all are showing again - for the moment.
P.S. I have only used official updates
Dave
Only used official updates and my ONE Twitter (just signed up a few days ago) contact is showing.
Ok its done.
I deleted twitter account and then re-add but it didnt work..
Then I repeated deleting and re-add again. Bum, Twitter contacts appear now! Dont know why?...
Update on this... MS knows about the issue and is looking into the problem:
https://twitter.com/#!/WinPhoneSupport/status/119511004559323136
This is pretty much the same thing that happened once the betas were released.
You would add Twitter, for some people it took minutes for it to appear, for some it took days. Its got to do with some hangup with Windows Live, because Twitter is connected to your phone through it.
For most cases, if you just add your account and give it time, it should appear eventually.
what I did:
-deleted Twitter account
-rebooted phone
-re added twitter account.
all is well now.
Great, the trick worked for me! Thanks!

Error 500 is usually a website problem.
The Auth process takes you to twitter's webpage to authorise.
Try again in a bit, maybe the gremlins are running about the twitter servers

I just waited for a couple of days, and then all of my Twitter contacts showed up. Didn't have to do anything.

yea that's because they already fixed it by that time. the prior solutions were just workarounds.

I can confirm your problem, I have it too:/ And don't know how to solve it. I tried almost everything - factory restore of phone, remove/add FB connection in my Hotmail profile, be on phone on 3G/wifi only etc... I'm having these problems till Friday or Saturday. On my LUMIA 820 with WP8.
Now I tried it on girlfriend's Lumia 710 (WP7.8) and it is the same. No incoming messages... She also can see online contacts and send message (it is send immediately and I can see it on computer)...
Does anybody know where the problem is???? Many thanks in advance
So I made a research and these messigings are only sync when the phone is internet connected, which is really bad cuz we can't see what is new when we are online, alot of people want to have the Facebook messanger on their wp as android and ios, so we want facebook messanger for wp, or somekind of fix.
I don't understand Facebook chat is online service, so it is clear that our phone has to be connected to internet. Some messanger app is not needed, that integrated FB chat is really good. But now from some reason it doesn't work for me. And on the internet there no similar topics, it seems it touchs only two of us:/
status.live.com also says there is no problem...
It really makes me angry...
Solved! For test I add into mobile new FB account. And everything worked. So I tried it again with my normal FB account. In Live account I remove FB account. In FB settings I removed Microsoft application and then add this account into mobile. Now it works standardly like a charm) Hoooray.
I didnt work for me, it reqired to intall Microsoft in FB again and it's all the same
