So I'm using a stock EF02 rom on my phone and I'm starting to notice that voicemails aren't going to the app, but rather to gmail.
And there's nothing in the voicemail settings that lets me change that or anything.
Help?

OK I know this has been brought up a few times in the CM threads. I get this ghost VM notification on CM6 and on all the nightlys. I also am getting this ghost VM notification on the MIUI rom. I do NOT get this notification on ANY sense ROMs I have tried.
I read this Forum everyday as much as I can. I have tried search. Every thing that comes up close to what I have going on doesn't seem to get fully answered as to why this is coming up on some phones and not others.
I flashed CM6 and a few nightlys on my Wifes phone and She has NEVER received the *86 VM notification.
I am always updated to the most current PRL, PRI and NV. Nothing I have tried will clear this message. On the CM6 ROM I can hit the clear button under the notification bar and that clears it for a little while but then the damn thing comes back.
Can anyone explain this and offer up a FIX. I know I'm not the only one.
Any one have any help on this?

I guess I'm in the club also. Same problem when I was on Vaelpak. Flashed back to stock, rooted, for a while. Now on Fresh.

Thank you Brutus for the input.
I know all about that part of the set-up. This DOES NOT get rid of the Ghost notification. I still will get a notification that I have a voice mail (and YES I have checked to make sure my VM's are cleared out).
Just FYI I use google voice when I am on CM6 or nightlys. Google Voice works great but still will not clear the VM notification.

Dont skip my post I am going to say two diffrent things . First normaly you get the notification because you received a voicemail. The stock rom has a code writen in to block that text so that you dont see the notification when you receive a voicemail.
Now Jetdr I will try to answer your question here. I think your voicemail hasnt been provisioned. Click on your VVM app and hit menu, when you hit menu you should have 3 options, compose, search and settings. If you have a 4th option that says unsent or undelivered click it. When VVM sets up, it automaticly sends a voicemail to the server to setup your VVM. If that message doesnt get sent then it probably never will. You will have to uninstall the VVM.Apk and reinstall the app. One time when I was setting up CM6 I had to install the voicemail apk several times before I got it to provision correctly. If it doesn provision a minute or two after you install it then its not going to. Not sure if this is whats causing your ghost voicemail text but I am thinking this is it. The easiest way to tell is to just click the vvm app and see if it shows four options or three. It should only show three.
If you are using google voice you dont still have the sprint VVM installed do you? If you dont have the sprint VVM installed then I am not sure whats causing your issue considering my directions to fix your issue is in regardes to the sprint vvm app.
Hope that helps.
I've tried all that and more.... nothing fixes it. I've concidered calling sprint but don't want to ruin my insurance..

Twilk... thanks so much for the response. I did all you suggested and I flashed back over to the newest MIUI ROM and I still have the VM notification. I made sure I didn't have any voice mails before I flashed. The notification will not clear even with the settings selected to not show.
Initially it has the *86 number but when I change the VM settings to my number it of course then comes up in the drop down box with my number.
The same thing happens on CM ROMs.

My notification says 4 voicemails... so I'm wondering if when I rooted my phone I had voicemails.. I don't really listen to my voicemails.. i'd rather just receive a text from someone... I just wish that I had made sure to clear my box before I rooted.. not sure if this is the reason for it... but it doesn't seem like there are many users with this problem. I'm sort of anti-twitter or I would ask cyanogen myself.. this is soo annoying! Especially since I hate voice mail to begin with.. I don't read my bills much, but I think sprint charges for voicemail.. anyway I can cancel my voicemail service? Also they charge me to keep a spending limit.. I want to call sprint and ask to cancel my voicemail..

Anybody ever figure this one. Or do we just clear the message on each reboot?
Clear dalv. and cache, then change *86 to your mobile number then block 9016 from your sprint account.I added youmail and mine works perfect.I get txt and VM very quick. If the person that left you the voice mail is in your contacts it will show them as leaving the VM and you can just tap on there pic and it will play the ones they left you.
And I have no phantom notifications or anything odd.

Here. That's the only known way to get rid of it. It's a PITA but it works.
I have salvage mod 1.2.1. I like the default visual voicemail app on the stock rom and I hate Google voice so I took it out of my old rom and put it in salvage mod. So I have 2 questions.
1. It is constantly trying to verify my sprint account but that information is apparently not in this rom. It still works but I always get pop-ups telling me it can't verify my account and it seems to run down battery.
2. If I just get rid of the voicemail app all together will I still get notified when I receive a voicemail?
Thanks and all help is greatly appreciated.
Instead of uninstalling the Voicemail app, freeze it first and see what happens. I think you will no longer receive Voicemail alerts. it may also break the os so do a nandroid backup first.
I am currently running GingerSense ReMix for Droid Incredible. I love it, but it doesn't have Verizon Visual Voicemail or the combined SMS/MMS/VVM.
I know Google Voice's voicemail is good and free and there are other free voicemail apps, but I was rather fond of Verizon's. Does anyone know a way to add it to this ROM?
I've tried pushing the VVM.apk to my phone and that didn't work. I tried adding it to the ROM before flashing the ROM. I've tried adding lines to Build file too. But nothing has worked. The farthest I've gotten is having the VVM app, but it won't connect to Verizon to get voicemail messages.
Does anyone of any other ideas I can try?
I wonder if has to do with the EVO mms apn issue that alotta people were having for the gingersense roms when they first came out. Did you make sure.the specific Rom you flashed had the fix for that or not?

I'm not sure if it was fixed for that or not, however, I don't have any problems sending or receiving MMS
I couldn't figure it out. I've decided to just go with Google Voice's voicemail.
I'm on Calk's ROM, 2.8.1, and I cannot figure out how to get my voicemail app to download my voicemails. If I have a voicemail, I don't get any notifications or anything, and if I go into the voicemail app and have it check for new, it find nothing. If I go to the dialer and call my voicemail though, they're obviously there. I've also tried random apps like Youmail and Phonefusion.. Nothing. Any ideas?

Keeping an eye on this post, as I have the same issue, using the TSM Rom talked about here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1429635 The ROM itself is great, really fast, good battery life, however also having the Voicemail issue you described.
It's getting really annoying, every ROM I flash, it appears. I've tried few things to clear from switching to Google Voice, to sending myself a voicemail, and then reading it to get the notification away but nothing helps..any suggestions?
Are you deleting the voice mails? I've never had an issue with the voicemail icon sticking. Every time I get a voicemail i listen to it and either save it or delete it by pressing "7" on the dial pad. Another solution would be to change the voicemail notification icon to a transparent image.

Voice mail notification
Hi,
I have the same problem here. It seems to be linked to Gmail account, as it appears on two separate phones as soon as I set up Gmail account. I wil try to do some more investigation. I deleted ALL voicemails from my Google Voice and the notification is still there. Restart of the phone does not renove it. Any settings changes in the Google Voice seem not to affect the notification. Maybe Gmail settings?
Did anybody found a workaround? It is annoying as it takes one more line of the notifications and I get a lot of texts, e-mails and ebay notifications and I would like to see as many as possible just by sliding down thenotification bar.
Thanks
Running Galaxy S2 T-mobile with 4.0.4 stock.
try downloading VisualVoicemail on the market and open it up see if its giving you any new notifications in there if so delete from the app and should be good to go after that its what i use to make sure they dont hang on my bar
