[ FIX ] Cyanogenmod 7 missing Market - Defy General

Hi there people,
I've been using CM7 since beta 6.0 was released. I've seen how has improved greatly, but now I have a big problem and I don't even know if its only me or for anyone else.
Since flashing RC1v2, My defy is not showing Market App anywhere. And if I try to install any other release over it, market keeps missing.
I've tried to flash SBF Nordic again, and Market returns again... but whenever I get RC1v2 or Newer Nightlies, Market disappears.
What can I do to fix this? Has it happened to anyone else?
Thanks!!
PS: Sorry about my english level.

I've not got this problem and I'm on RC1v2. Assuming you've flashed the google apps update, the only thing I can think to try would be to log in to Google Talk. Probably unrelated, but I read a while back that people couldn't install from the market until they did this...
Otherwise, think you need someone more knowledgable than me, sorry :/

Thanks for your answer!! I've flashed several googleapps versions, but none works. It's like flashing changes nothing on Operative System. Haven't tried logging into Google Talk, and then flash Googleapps.
I'll flash SBF Nordic clean, Install RC1v2 and do the trick... I'll update this post when finished.
EDIT============================================================================
Ok, Now Market Appears, I have done this steps:
I have...
1 - ...Flashed clean SBF Nordic Froyo 2.2.2 , wiping cache / Data Before and After flashing the file.
2 - ...Restarted phone, config Market, and downloader some apps, just to make sure it works.
3 - ...Rooted phone, Installed Snd Init 1.4.2 apk, and rebooted phone.
4 - ...Entered Snd Init, selected Recovery, Wiped Cache / Data and Install RC1v2 zip. Rebooted phone.
5 - ...Initialized phone, checked that Market wasn't there, and rebooted again.
6 - ...Entered Recovery again, and flashed googleapps zip.
Once every step was done, Market reappeared. Don't know what the problem was, but, It's fixed.

Connect to wifi first

For anyone else who needs help on this:
There are specific versions of google apps for specific CM phones. Check the CM website.
Also, Try:
wipe data+cache
flash cm7 (dont reboot after)
wipe data+cache
flash gapps (now reboot)
delay the google aps install tho, id wait untill you set up the wifi first lol
Just checked my sd card, the version i used was gapps-gb-20110307-signed.zip for the DEFY

[Q] HTC desire Cyanogen Mod 7 "New Market" Problem

I recently flashed the new Cyanogen mod 7 nightly and The new google apps. As I started to experiment with this rom, I noticed that i cannot download any market apps at all. Whenever i press download, the "downloading" notification would pop up for like a second or two and it would then disappear. Any suggestions on how to fix this?
-Dan
Did you try to clear data and cache for the market? That might help. It does not seem like a CM7 issue as it is working perfectly here.
Yeah I have tried that actually. Still the same problem..
Wipe all the data including both caches, flash the build and then flash the apps. Things are working fine with the CM7 builds since I use it. Maybe a radio update if your not up to date ish?
Same Issue
I'm having the same issue on my HD2 Typhoon Cyanogen 7. I was able to download apps from the market for about an hour, right after first launch - now (3 hours later), nothing. I don't have the ability to click 'clear cache' for the Market and I can't seem to download from the online market, either. I don't know whether I should try to clean-install Typhoon or switch to another ROM - or if this problem will just 'go away'. If anyone has further advice, or wants any info from my device, please send me a message.
Update: ROM Manager won't do anything, but I'm not too worried about that. Booting while holding 'Power' gets me to the Bootloader, from there I can get to the Clockwork Recovery. I tried 2 fresh wipes of Typhoon CM7 before throwing in the towel. Another ROM installed and I can download anything I want from the Market.
Ditto here. I installed on a full wipe and market is not working. Are you using wifi or 3g?

I have the same problem, i tried to solve it doing everything (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but nothing.
I noticed that every time i re-flash the rom market works for a period but than gets stuck !
- download "zipsigner" from market
- select the new market apk (the one that didn't install and fc's)
- select "platform" as key/mode
- sign the file
the resulting apk can be installed as every apk
cc to c3k
wel then you are one of the lucky ones i have tried wipe cache wipe delvick cache reinstall nothing works

I have your same problem on DHD CyanogenMod 7 RC2 (uninstalling and reinstalling market, full wipe, re-flash the rom) but the Market don't work!
I got the same problem and solved it by simply wiping my device (Desire) again without flashing CM7 (RC1) again.

could you be more specific on 'wiping'? how did you do it? having the same problem here.
EDIT: reflashed rom and wiped data and cache. market is now working.
EDIT AGAIN: market only worked to download GAPPS eg gmail, youtube, google maps etc etc. when tried to download other apps, a prompt comes up saying "the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. please try again."
Hi,
Had the same problem, with cyanogen Mod 7.
First with stock (cyanogen) Market, then even after updating with the new market 2.3.4. Always the same, trying to connect and failure when downloading, no FC at all.
I just solved the problem by flashing again the radio 5.14.05.17 ! (I had this one before flashing Cyanogen and all the other communications were ok, except the market downloads so I didn't think it could come from there ...)
Hope it helps you
I simply solved this problem thanks Titanium Backup that takes back the Market (app+data). Obviusly you had had a backup!
EDIT: doesn't work...after reboot market doesn't exist... I've to rebuild it from TB every time.. that sucks
RE-EDIT: finally works!! I installed it from a backup and then I started it after flashing again gapps(if you don't have a backup you can unzip gapps.zip on pc then move the apk vending to the phone: install it with a file explorer) Then I entered my gmail username and psw(<--- important step) and now it works great! I've made also a reboot to test it.
Solved Problem
After flashing gapps, i had the same problem....
Try a restart - It worked for me!
Yeah, I have the same problem with my freshly installed, latest stable CM (7.0.3-desire). Not all downloads are affected, it's about a third to half of them. If I get the apk file in some other way, installing it works fine. It's just the download from the market server that stops after a second or so (or perhaps never even starts properly).
I've tried to clear market cache, tried rebooting, tried versions 2.3.3 and 2.3.6 of Market app, to no avail.
When you guys say "flash this" or "flash that", does that mean "update"?

i've manage to fix it.
first i backed up my SD card, partition it with ROM Manager, downloaded S2E from the market, check Download Cache, reboot. done. anything and everything can be downloaded now.
I managed to fix with re-flashing CM 7.03 and wiping data. For a couple of days it worked properly. Now from time to time it happens again and the only solution is restarting the phone. Probably I found a similar problem when I tried to install Cut the rope apk from my sd card, CM just did a warm boot. After a several try I restarted my phone and installation worked like a charm. Any thoughts?
what do you mean by using the term "flashing" ?
I am a noob and I am having the same problem too.

[Q] Market problem

Yesterday i flashed the latest version of the runny Rom and everything seemed fine until i tried to download apps from the market. i cant download anything, market keeps showing that its going to start downloading but the progress bar never moves, i force close Market app and the progress bar doesn't dissapear from the notificacion bar.
i thought i t was the rom so i restore to my previous rom, and the market wasn't working either.
i've tried every solution i've seen on this and other boards (clear data/cache from market app, start gtalk when downloading, clear date/cache from every gApp, uninstall market updates )
i've wipped everything on recovery and installed 4 diferent roms (1.0 2.1 3.0 and 3.5) i've done everything i can think of, and my market still doesn't download anything.
i really hope some could help me.

im gonna try that, and report how it went.
no luck with the fix.apk, im trying to de-root and re-root to see if it helps..
still no luck, please i need help, i've just went back to stock, s-On, and market still not working, then unrevoked, s-Off, custom rom, market still broken. i've tested the the next roms with no luck:
-Community Rc5
-Runny Revolution v1
-Incredible HD V1.0.4 (and with the updates to 1.0.5)
-Miui 1.9.3
-CyanogenMod 7.0.3
-Stock 1.0
-Stock 2.1
Kernels:
- Stock
- Latest Gingertiny
Hope this info could lead to a fix to my problem.
Ok, i think i've found the culprit, i've just tested to download only on 3g/1x and downloads start and finish, on every rom, but when i try to download through wi-fi, downloads never start.
i've checked other sources on the web and apparently its a common issue with all kinds of android phones not just my inc, and some people are able to fix it unblocking some ports on their routers, but i've done that with no luck..
but i have a hunch that my problems started when i installed the latest beta of gingertiny, the one that enables 802.11n... hope with this extra info someone could help me, im really desperate.
Thanx to the couple of people who actually tried to help, if anyone runs into this problem with the market i've found the solution, its not your phone (rom, mods, radios) its actually some kind of issue with your router.. i've just factory reset my router, and the downloads from market started to work again.. hope this helps someone in the future.
updating..
i've found a temporary fix for this!
Yesterday after i reseted my router i though my problems with the market where gone, but they started a couple of hours later.. so i asumed that i wasn't my routers fault.
so i started again testing roms, kernels, unroot, reroot, and bam! found a fix.. not the best one but so far i can download anything from the market..
what i did was:
1.- unroot with PB31IMG.zip (stock rom from last year)
2.- connect to wifi during initial setup
3.- login to my google account during setup
4.- open market app (version 1.82 i think)
5.- download any app (wait what? yes im downloading)
6.- market updates itself and i stop being able to download anything.
so it seems obvious that the culprit was the market, so i freezed "market_updater.apk" to stop the market from autoupdating, uninstall updates and create a backup of that markets verison (1.82)
now im running community rom with that market and everything its perfect, hope this helps someone in the future.

CM7 Market problems since last week

Hey people,
I'm currently located in China and I've got serious problems with the Market lately.
I'm using and been using CM7 on my Moto Defy for months (almost since CM7-Jordan beginning) and I've never had such Market problems before.
So I'm wondering if
1) other users from China can tell me if things are the same (or fine) for them?;
2) anyone have hint/suggestion on how to fix this after reading what I did/observed here?:
First, I'll say again that I've never had problems with Market before; none getting it installed (through gapps zip) on CM7 when updating/reflashing ROM or Nand backups/ none with downloading or upgrading apps with the Market app.
But all in a sudden last week, I noticed that the Market was not reacting quickly. I was testing 111004-1128 nightly (which has a newer Superuser file included) then after SU updated itself automatically [coincidence???], all things broke loose, Market would not connect and give me errors. SU would also alway stay in the "Not Installed" List of my Market apps (even after reboots and logins).
I've then tried to install the Superuser Market update fixer app (big mistake I think now) but that just made things worst. In an effort to get the Market going again, I did clean it's cache and eventually it's data which basically resetted all my listed apps in the Market.
Following all that, I did numerous fresh installs [maybe 10 at this point]: RSDL Froyo flashing and CM7 and gapps installs [with and without restoring old working CWM backups] and with countless install combinations of older CM7 builds and gapps versions.
On August's gapps, Market always gives me the "No connection Retry" even if I can get connected to Google services since my wifi indicator turns blue or green (depending on theme/CM7 build used) and Talk and Gmail logs in fine.
On June's gapps, login seems fine: I can browse apps but as soon as I try downloading something, I get stuck at Downloading 0%... and it seems to put the servicee in some sort of bootloop since and other apps icons do not display until I get "Download failed to install - Try again" and click OK. Market will also FC as soon as I select anything from the "Just in" sections.
I've tried clearing Market's cache many times, started Talk, signed out and back in, let my wifi on all night to leave Market to update. I've even created a new gmail account and tried it on yet another fresh install with June gapps; nothing works and this drive me nutts!!
I can go on my desktop, use a VPN service to log in to my Market account and install something from there; it will be pushed on my phone alsmost right away. But again I can't install anything from the phone no matter what.
That would be fine with me, but that means that for any special apps that otherwise would require me to use Market Enabler, I will not be able to do it from the desktop either.
It's not a question of having DroidWall or anything else I've installed blocking something out; like I wrote; I've tried many clean installs without restoring or installing anything...: same.
So, has The Great Firewall" finally caught up to Android Market and stopping use of any Vending.apk from withtin China? Are they recent changes from Google? Or am I having other Market setup/install problems here? What's your take on this?
Thanks for reading and thanks for any help in advance.
Cheers.
And PLEASE do not "full quote" this long post (sorry for that btw) .
Market has been blocked by GFW. I can't access it either unless using VPN.

This sounds not so far fetched..
I live in the US, and I see the same type of behavior at my college.
I can get to the app, but when downloading it sits there for a century.
the idea of censorship isn't something I would blame, nor shrug.
Her are a few things I should try...
Use a spare gmail account to test with, and see if you can reproduce the same results...
Try and use that same vpn, configured through your phone this time, and disable any apn/data settings other than wifi... Now try.
Edit:
P.s. What ROM are you using? The cm team has a stable out now.. Guide that a shot...

My OP was a long one, but I think that i did mention somewhere that I've tried a new gmail account with same result.
My vpn use encryption and will not work on defy ;(
Strangely, from all my recent tries at getting gapps to work properly, it seems that I can only use 2G data to do the first account setup. And that seems to 'work' only with June gapps package.
Recent update (on RC1.5):
I've also managed to get my installed apps listed again by playing around with 2G data and installing and uninstalling a standalone 3.1.3 Vending apk as update and undo it.
I was able to download 2 or 3 apps (out of 50 trials) also by fiddling w data enable/disable.
But again, never before, in 4-5 months using CM7, I had to turn on data past the initial Google setup and I've never had any download issues either....
So i don't think that it's related to TGFW and will keep digging...
On 7.1 now but no change..as
I did flash june gapps w 7.1 but never got any setup to do since no factory reset. Will try a clean install tomorrow or the day after...
Thanks for your reply.
OK I finally got it to work after all.
I just tried to fix the fix the problems caused by the new Superuser update after trying a recent nightly in just the worst possible way over and over.
So what you have to remember is:
1- to NOT signin to your Google account using data and do it over wifi. So select "Skip" on the screen showing "Create an account", "Sign in" or "Skip" and go ahead with other settings: your baseband, wifi and especially turning off "Data enabled".
2- always use the latest gapps version, not the June one like I tried many times
3- Install gapps along with a fresh CM7 zip install; not a nand restoration.
4- after reboot (if needed by Defy Baseband Switcher) just press the Market icon and set up your account then
So wipe data, cache and Dalvik and install CM7 zip (RC1.5 is a good one to start with) and and latest gapps zip and follow the above.
Sorry for this useless thread and for me trying to get this working like a chicken without a head
So @ TimelesslyPrecise: if your downloads do not start, it might as well be because you did setup your account over data the first time.
So just start from scratch again:
- backup your apps [with TB, the newest (and free) Astro file manager or other];
- do a fresh CM7 install (no need to reflash Froyo) but do as above;
- restore your apps;
- then just click on the Market icon and sign in.
Don't worry if at first your apps are not listed under "My apps"; they will eventually come back with usage.
@xcjiang: yeah I knew that, but that doesn't mean that the Market app on the phone doesn't work.
Sorry again about that.
Cheers.
Didn't worked for me...
Instead I found cause and solution elsewhere http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295222
To cut the story short, problem is in way that Market don't get DNS right.
Solution is to install app that will change DNS for every wifi connection DNS to OpenDNS (my choice) or GoogleDNS. I'm using DNS Changer.
Now enjoy superfast Market

[Q] CM 10 Google Play Store refuses to work

Hey guys:
Unlocking and rooting my HTC Wildfire was the second most frustrating experience of my life. However, it's finally over and I flashed CM 10 onto my phone along with 4.1.2 GApps signed (I followed this tutorial http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1878031&highlight=unlocked+bootloader+but+s-on).
Everything seemed to go well, except the Google Play Store doesn't work. It keeps giving me the "Error retrieving information from server. [RH-01]" message. I've also noted that Google Services Framework is NOT installed on my phone. I should note that I have 0 apps installed, meaning I do not have a file manager and there is no file manager/explorer that comes stock as far as I'm aware.
I've looked all over the internet and everything tells me to erase the cache because corrupted data seems to be the most common cause of this error message. This is obviously not the case with my phone. What do I need to do to get this thing to work? I've reflashed the GApps and even flashed a different one. I've tried manually downloading and installing Google Services Framework but it won't install. I've tried moving files around on my SD card (the only thing I can access from my computer) and nothing has worked.
I'm just about at my wit's end here guys. Please help me!
PS. I have a clockworkmod back-up from before my phone was rooted saved onto my computer. However it doesn't have my apps in it so I don't think I can get a file manager from it.
**FIXED**
I feel like an idiot, but the reason it wasn't working was because the CM 10 mod I was trying to install failed to install :S I wrote the warning sign off as something else and didn't read the message it sent me I guess.
ANYWAY I found a fix here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2136011 use the SLIMCM-10 ROM instead and that's what fixed if for me (use all the other downloads he has there too, except for the regular CM10 mod). Thanks for the help that I received, and sorry for being a n00b. Love this community BTW, you guys are the best!
This happened to me the first time I flashed icu's marvelc port of paranoid android...I fixed it by wiping everything and just reflashing the whole rom and gapps. Try that. Tell me if it works.

[Q] Installed CyanogenMod updates no connection to Play Store

I was running cm-10.2.1 and last night I installed CyanogenMod updates cm-11-20140104-SNAPSHOT-M2 and cm-11-20140210-SNAPSHOT-M3. Several of my apps either quit working or disappeared. When I clicked on Play Store to try and re-install the apps, I got a message of "No Connection". Searched the problem and several people said to delete the Google Account and re-install it. After deleting it, the phone will not let me recreate it. When I click on Add Account and then the Google symbol, nothing happens.
Is there solution to fix this? if not, can I just re-install 10.2.1 and fix it?
My phone is an AT&T SGS3.
Thanks,
retnuh
Re-flash GApps, that has happened to me before, and this is what fixed it.
As LittlePalmTree stated, sounds like you need to reflash GAPPS. Make sure you grab the one compatible with cm11. cm11 is android 4.4 where as cm10.2 was 4.3 if I am not mistaken.
Thanks for the help. I tried to re-flash the gapps after reading the first reply but before reading the second reply. You guessed it. I did it wrong. The phone would not get past the spinning circle screen. Ended up using CWM to re-flashing the rom stored on my phone and also re-flashing the gapps stored on my phone. So, I'm back to version 10.2.0, but at least my phone is working again. While I would like to update, I'm afraid I will mess my phone up again.
Thank you for both of your replies.
Googled the problem and found a few solutions from the simple - force stop/clear cache - up to full factory resets.
Different things seemed to work for different people.
Tried the force stop/clear cache and check time/date is correct (which causes some people problems.
Then I tried removing my Google account and adding it in again. However, it wouldn't let me do that until I re-flashed GAPPS. Did that and it all works fine now.
