Hello XDAs,
Sorry if i asked a noob question,
I was going to flash a new rom from stock, just finished rooted, flash ClockModRecovery & installed radio. right now i'm stuck on a part that require me to proceed ext2/3/4 partition (EXT2,3,4 SDEXT Partition for A2SD.)... How do i perform this? I search around ClodkModRecovery and i can't find this features... Is it wrong version of recovery installed? The Recovery was installed using ROM Manager from App Market and install automatically... Can someone help me with this?
I going to flash this rom,

Hey, I've read much about a2sd+...
some say it's only possible if included into the ROM, others say it can be included manually into a ROM. All of that mainly for FroYo but i found some post that it works on gingerbread too.
is there any guide for it? - can someone explain it to me? couldn't find anything.
Oxygen comes with a2sd, since version RC2/RC3(check change log) the dalvik cache is no longer moved to the sd(read ext) but to cache if big enough.
If you really need the space you can replace the new a2sd script yourself from /system/etc/init.d/ with old one. If you do this also removed the dalvik script from the new rom. Should work but not 100% sure, don't forget to nandroid.

don't mind what dalvik means... but I am using the ClockworkMod Recovery and was following the guide ( http://www.facebook.com/note.php?note_id=158809660835039 ) but there is no partition SD-card or similiar.. only format, and that doesn't help anything
Just make a ext partition (SEARCH) and flash oxygen, don't worry about my previous post.

it seems i am not able to partition my SD because my recovery (clockworkmod) isn't able to do so.
but flashing a new recovery doesn't work. can i reflash a new recovery with unrevoked 3? but it also trys to root it a second time, don't know if this is healthy?!
or does someone has unrevoked2 (which only reflashs recovery afaik) ?
Just use gparted or rom manager to partition. Don't ask how, there are plenty of tutorials.

I looked for everywhere bit couldn't find any link to clockwork recovery 3.0(ext4 partitions) or ny other that I can use with unrevocked..to make or erase ext4 partitions

Using a recovery to partition ext will only partition ext2/3 at best. To get 4 you can run some scripts or something that will upgrade the ext partition, or you can format it using something like Gparted or Easus.
I definitely recommend doing any partitioning with Gparted, cos I'm running Clockworkmod 3.0 on an SLCD desire (installed during rooting with Unrevoked) and the partitioning option never works. Neither does ROM Manager, whereas Gparted has never failed me once.
Keep ROM manager on your phone though, cos sometimes, 3.0 cant flash a zip cos of some edify script issue, so if this ever happens, go into ROM manager and tell it to flash clockworkmod, then ask it to boot into recovery. It will boot you into clockworkmod 2.5.0.7 as a one off, and flashing these zips in 2.5.0.7 always works.
After you flash the zip and reboot back to android, next time you try to use clockworkmod you'll be back to 3.0.
Here's the thread where you can get Clockworkmod 3.0.0.5:

You should avoid using Rom Manager. It doesn't work properly and causes more problems than what it solves.
In my opinion, use CWM 2.5.0.7 because it works and all scripts work with it. Until there is an official release for 3.0, it won't work properly.

This would be the ideal option, but I found that when using 2.5.0.7 creating backups failed, which is a pretty important feature!!
That's the only reason why I changed to 3.0.0.5.
Have you tried rebooting?
Hi,
A few hours ago I tried to update my desire to LeeDroid http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1038195
But I was a little to fast and I installed and now it's stucked at the bootscreen..
After I read that it doesn't work with ext4 I switched it to ext 3 and now it is still stuck at the bootscreen..

Tried that with the Insertcoin HD rom..

Thanks a your quick reply's!
I've used an other Miui rom and this on seems to work!
What do I have to do, to let my Desire let run the LeeDroid rom i've posted in my first post?
Greetz and already thanks ;-)
u need to use recovery 3.0.0.5 an make a new partion of ur sdcard
it makes partion ext3
And how can I make an partition with cwm? Greets
EDIT:
I've found out how to change my SD-card to ext3.
But it didn't work for me.
Make sure you still have root and are partitioning correctly
So maybe I have root my phone again?
There is a FAQ thread going around about LeeDroid 3.0 I can't link it because on my phone. Apparently people who are having success are using Hboot 0.93.xxx and Cwr 2.5.0.7, that's what I'm running and I'm using 3.0.2 right now

If you don't know about HBOOT, please check your bootloader.
Shut Down Phone
Press back button+powerbutton
Read the screen
Tell us what's HBOOT
If it's not 0.93.x.x , you may need to change it with either RUU or alpharev.nl
Best ClockWork Rom Manager Version For Desire?
okay i used the latest original untouched once yesterday installed perfectly, however after doing a backup it crashed on htc start up loop. i opened recovery and re flashed my backup all worked okay but am now wondering what if something happens when installing a custom rom. what is the best version to use.
thanks
Easiest, and safest way to flash is via your recovery from boot (ClockworkMod/AmonRa etc). ROM Manager itself has seen many issues recently and many people advise to stay clear of it until it's totally stable.

ROM Manager is made by ClockworkMod devs. It's an application, a standalone app whereas ClockworkMod is a recovery and this is what you would use to flash the ROM. If you have ClockworkMod as your recovery you flash a new ROM using this procedure:
Do this first to backup your existing ROM in case anything goes wrong.
Then do this to flash your new recovery.
Hopefully everything should go okay.
EDIT: You can leave ROM Manager where it is, it won't affect anything you do in the above procedures and you may find that your new ROM doesn't package it anyway so you won't have it anyway.
for me 3.0.0.5 was the best for desire

Hi,
So i have a HTC Desire flashed to CM7r2 Hboot (just moved from stock) and i have tried flashing all possible custom roms from xda (BlissMod007, AceS, Starburst, RevolutioN Aurora, LeeDroid etc etc....) NONE of them work on my desire.. I checked my hboot...checked my root everthing is fine...i even have a 1GB ext partition on my card that the ROM's want...Majority of the ROM's are stuck on the lockscreen others freeze after some time ..
I really want to know whats wrong! I CANT live with the original froyo bc that gives me only 25mb of free internal memory.
SOMEBODY PLEASE HELP ME!!

So you flashed the CM7r2 HBOOT and used every rom but CM7? If those roms aren't designed to fit on the CM7 HBOOT you'll end up with half a rom flashed on there.
Did you wipe everything between flashes (including dalvik cache)?
Last thing, try flashing back to the stock HBOOT partition layout and see how that goes. Might've got a corrupted partition file (you should always an MD5 checker on stuff like this).
yes when i flashed the CM7 hboot i flashed the CM7 ROMs for which i wudnt get past the white screen with htc in green
and when i had the stock hboot the ROMs wud get flashed the first boot would go smooth (wud take some time obviously but thats normal right?)
and yes everytime i flashed i wiped everything including dalvik cache.
and i also dont understand what with the MD5 how is that important... because i completely ignored it before.
From your posts looks like you did not read the tutorials carefully.
EXT partition made correct?
What Recovery do you have?
What version did you download from the ROM?
MD5 Checksum is fine?
i had this problem aswell before so all i did was flash the alpha rev downgrader hboot then on the phone click on restart bootloader then just flash the cm7 hboot..
then just wipe everything and flash the rom ..
also some sense roms take up to 15 mins to boot and some of the sense roms resarts the fone three times so just wait for a maximum of 20 minutes
yes ext partition is correct i had a 2GB ext4 previously but then i read on the forums that not all ROMs were compatible with a ext4 so then changed it to a 1GB ext 3
Clockwork Mod Recovery 2.5.0.7
Whats this MD5 Checksum ?? How do i verify it ?
Also whats the alpha rev downgrader ? do you have to downgrade the hboot ?
Because i moved from CM7 to stock just by reflashing it and on my bootloader i saw the change just fine.
I have 10MB free internal memory WT*

Use Amon ra recovery. CMR didn't work for me either.
Is that true could it be CMR ??
And how do i get amon ra ? i got CMR by default like when i rooted using unrevoked.
If CWM 2.5.0.7 doesnt work at all, it may be because you have a PVT 4 erase size 40,000 device.
Not sure why my guide is one of the only guides that mentions this, but there you go.

Some people have trouble with clockworkmod. Normally they solve it by switching to another recovery so it may be the reason to what you are experiencing now.
To get AmonRa recovery, download AmonRa recovery here. Then plug your phone into the computer and use this utility to flash the recovery.

Actually, I think the test 2.0.1 is better (for SD-ext backup), which you can get here for a limited time only:
http://db.tt/z7hzdp34
No mine is a pvt 3 atleast that's what it says in my bootloader
I think I'll try amon ra
Hey Guys,
So i flashed AmonRa and then flashed a ROM and it works fine so far.
Thanks alot will get back on how its performance is in the long run.
Thanks a lot
okay no as soon as i rebooted it got stuck on the lockscreen and froze....rebooted again same story....rebooted again same story done that about 5 times now
sorry false alarm its like the problem never went...back to the same old situation...
can someone please help me out..
also is there a way to go back to cmr ??
Try changing to a different kernel. It may be a problem with the kernel. What Rom are you using now?
Sent from my HTC Original Desire using Tapatalk
Well I tried RevolutioN - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1300224 which worked for 30 mins before it froze
and then i tried ReflexS - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1054435
which worked for about 15 mins and then froze.
which kernel should I flash ? thats the only thing left to flash now
And now i have switched back to CMR as i had a CMR backup of the stock ROM.
So im running the stock ROM now.
Try snq 111005 or gingercakes 0.6d. They are the stablest kernels for sense roms for me. Use the search function to find the kernels.
Sent from my HTC Original Desire using Tapatalk
im sorry but i cant find either of those kernels
i found gingercakes 0.8f and many other versions that were 0.8d/e/etc etc
can u post a link or something like that....also i dont know how to flash a kernel is it just like a rom zip thru clockworkmod ??

Can't help you with finding the kernels I'm afraid. But to flash one just do it through recovery like you would a rom. No need to do all the wipes, just wipe your dalvik cache before you flash it.
