When I try and run Unrevoked it fails near the end and says that my firmware might be too new, or something along those lines. How can I go about rooting my device or rolling it back so I can root it? Thanks in advance.

I'd retry it a few times in unrevoked. Took me a couple tries to successfully root my friends incredible.

Been a while since I had to reroot. Could it be that maybe you need the modded drivers for Windows?

Slow phone and bad battery

So I've been messing around with my phone and when I tried to update the radios yesterday it seems to have had a negative effect on everything. Here's what my software says. Does something seem amiss?

I've messed with the TMartinPPC_EvoGingerSense_v0.1 update that was recently put out and I've had a couple issues, mainly the voicemail icon that won't go away, and I noticed this morning that my camera wasn't working.
Flashed a backup back to 2.2 but in between I updated the radios. It also seems to take the phone a few minutes when I switch it to Disk Drive to show up on the computer.
Any suggestions?
Either update your software from 3.29 to 3.70 or downgrade your radio from 11.19 to 09.01. To save time, go to the following address and then download the ODEXED version of the 3.70 rom. It is the latest official Sprint EVO rom and should set you straight. No, you wont lose root. Just make sure you go into recovery and do a complete wipe before flashing and yes, make a nandroid backup first.

Thanks, I will give it a shot. Would something like this be a good starting point?

Yes, that will work, but unless you plan on changing themes and mods, I recommend the ODEXED version. When you replied, I was editing my original post...lol

Ok, downloading both at the moment. I just want it to be stable until a good 2.3 ROM comes out.
I understand, my friend. If you get tired of the stock look but still want to maintain speed and stability, give Myn's Warm TwoPointTwo RLS5 a try. It is Sense-based. If you want a clean, fast and stable AOSP rom, I recommend Salvage-Mod 1.2.1 with the Tiamat 3.3.7 kernel and LauncherPro. It is a very solid 2.3.3 rom. Anyway, take care and enjoy the rest of your day....

Ok here's where I stand as of yesterday. Things seem to be better. Had to downgrade CWM to be able to install the 3.7 ROM, but that wasn't too bad.

Noticed something quirky lately. When I get online via browser or whatnot (last night I was trying to stream music) it seems to take 5-10 seconds before everything kicks in. I was using an app to look for songs to stream and every search would take what seemed like 10 seconds or so before the search would commence. I also have noticed it on the browser too. Any ideas?

What ROM is best recommended for Cricket Evos?
You won't able to get it from the phone cause it uses sprint inet to go to sprint server if you want updated prl *22804 and no need to update profile ya inet works then it's fine

Ghost notification
I am confused. I'm coming from a nandroid backup of:
Hardware Version: 003
Android Version: 2.2
Baseband Version: 2.15.00.11.19
Kernel Version: Stock #15

Any Sense 3.5 ROM I flash I get the ghost voicemail notification. I did the Sprint Visual Voicemail installation restoring data only from titanium backup but that still didn't get rid of that damn notification. None of the Sense 3.0 ROMs do this. Can somebody please tell me why I get this with Sense 3.5 ROMs??

Are you installing after doing a full wipe?
I wipe everything (except for SD Card) and even flash Virus' wipe script before I flash a Sense 3.5 ROM. I've tried 3 different Sense 3.5 ROMs and they ALL give me the ghost voicemail notification. I flashed back to King Shooter and was fine. Flashed Mik 3D and was fine. Wiped everything, restored back to my nandroid back up and then flashed Runnymed 3.5 and bam, the ghost voicemail notification is back
Seems that its a bug in the rom itself

Fixed! I had to call Sprint to reset my VM
Strange. Never had any problems like that.

I got rid of the blasted notification by calling Sprint to reset my VM. Bada bing, bada boom it's gone!!
Anyone who is having the same issue, I advise you do the same thing. Restore your phone to a rooted stock state and call Sprint so they could reset your VM.
Please hit the thanks button if I've helped you
What did you tell them to get them to reset your voicemail? and do you have to be on a stock rom?

Sorry for the extremely late response, but all I told them is that I finally decided to upgrade my phone's software to the gingerbread update and now get a false voicemail notification and if they can please reset my voicemail. Yes you must be on a stock ROM because they have you enter in EPST codes before pushing a reboot code on their end.
Also another solution, if this does not happen to work, is to activate an older Sprint phone (preferably the last phone you had if you still have it) and go through the whole voicemail setup. Delete ALL voicemails on your account if you have any saved. Then ask that they reactivate your EVO. That should do the trick aslo

Error:Failed to root. Is Your firmware too new

Hi Experts,
I have a HTC EVO 4G ( Sprint Version ) flashed successfully to Boost Mobile with talk, text, MMS, Data at 3G Speeds working perfectly. It was great. But now a big problem.
I tried to update and get into the the latest components like, Baseband, Radio, NV,PRL, etc etc etc. I do not know much about the Cell Phone stuff.

These are the details that are there on the software information screen.
My requirement is
1. I need to root my device to use wifi tethering
2. I want to upgrade to Android 4.x or Android 4.x.x
I want to know if both options 1 and 2 are possible or not? Because I did wirelessly tether my HTC EVO 4G earlier and I was successful with 1.5MBps speeds.
Any help is highly appreciated.
Thanks,
A J.
Both 1 and 2 are possible. You can root your phone using the HTC Dev method. Look in the Development section for the thread on rooting Hboot 2.18. Your radio is the most up-to-date radio out there, so you're good to go there. There is a newer software version out there (5.07), although you can only find it in rooted form, as the non-rooted version was never officially released other than in the form of an OTA update. As far as upgrading to ICS or JB, there are several ROM's out there for both, so you're good to go there once you gain root access.
