To us the true FM radio you need an alternative rom based on sense or CM. Stock Tmobile roms don't have it. As for an app "TuneIn Radio" has the online stream version of analog radio stations. So if your favorite station has an online streaming ability then it will probably be in this app.
ok but actually I don't want internet radio I am looking for any alternative appljcation of FM Radio to the one delivered originaly with ROM.
Have a look at Spirit FM from the market.
I'm not sure where your located at, but I use "TuneIn Radio" app in the Tampa area and I get almost all the FM stations around here. The only ones I don't get are stations exclusive to the "IHeartRadio" app. Which is only a few. Good Luck!

Spirit Radio
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.mikersmicros.fm&feature=search_result
+1 for spirit fm radio ^_^
same Issue
Did anyone get a solution for this? I am on HTC Desire Hd running Android 4.1.2...somehow lost my FM radio application during the upgrade
Spirit FM will allow you to access your phone's FM Receiver hardware.
The "Light" and "Unlocked" versions are both available paid from the market. The Light version gives you basic stereo reception and the Unlocked version gives you some UI enhancements and the ability to read a station's datastream giving callsign and program info.
The app's developer has posted a thread here. There's links on that thread to "Spirit FM Free," which will give you mono FM reception at no cost.
Spirit works great. Highly recommended!

Anyone know how to stream radio to the Rhodium from a website, or if it's possible? I'm trying to get www.newstalkradio.com, with Warren Ballentine from 10-1, to play on my device, but not sure how to link to that stream. Any help is appreciated.

Yes, streaming audio to the TP2 is certainly possible, through a number of ways, through various providers....the trick is finding which (if any) of them carry the channel/stream/program you want. I went looking on the site you mentioned to try to see what format and from what source his broadcast is available in, but I didn't find him listed anywhere...do you know where his broadcast originates from?
One of the services I use to bring streaming content to my TP2 is called "Kinoma Play" (or the free version I use, "Kinoma FreePlay"), which brings together a large number of different streaming audio sources...shoutcast, podcasts, and many others including NPR and other radio stations from around the US and the rest of the world.
There's other services available as well...the best thing to do would be to determine which method the audio you want is available by, and then we can know which options are available for getting that on to your phone.
I think streaming media is one of the best uses of this wonderful piece of hardware, I take advantage of that capability almost every single day

Well if you have the streaming URL you can try opening that directly in IE or Opera, but the odds of that working aren't great. I'm looking now to see if I can find what methods he's available by so you can stream him to your phone.
Are you talking about the BBC's radio one? I'm pretty sure the media player I mentioned (Kinoma) can get BBC R1 streams, I'm looking now.
Cant seem to be able to find good gps navigation sw.. Anyone got any suggestion
I would recommend iGo My Way
iGo doesnt have an app for wvga devices, the modified version of iGO for wvga is called motonav. But there are other softs like: navigon, copilot, sygic, ...
check discussion related to Desire
here is a good link :

I recommend Waze. Crowd sourcing GPS navigation, with real time traffic gathering from other Waze users. You can even update the maps online if they are incorrect. And its completely free.
When I switch it on in the morning it auto plots the fastest route to work, and the same for going home in the evening. I love it.
I really like Waze, especially the traffic information wich you receive from other users in the area is incredible! And its kinda fun socializing with it
The Waze is really interesting, but its useless in countries where only few people use it.
Yeah it needs a small community behind it to make it really powerful.
most of your suggestion are for US / EU... not for asia.... anyone got other alternatives???
Cyberazi, you can use Waze anywhere in the world, but as mentioned, if there's not many others using it in your area you'll find that you'll be the one creating new roads as you drive along them for the first time.

Try:
- iGo
- nDrive
check for papago, this should be asia compatible
I've been using Ndrive for a past 1 year, seems dependable...
Which is the app to improve my gps for my unrooted Galaxy S?
I have a huge problem when I'm using the Igo. I have done all official updates and I think I will go to the other way......ROOT!!!!!
What's your opinion??????
Waze is the app you are looking for, as many users use it the better and reliable the evolving maps will be available for you.

I'm just starting to dive into App development for Android and one of the things high on my list to develop is an app to record FM radio. So far, I have not been successful in finding an API reference or SDK that allows me to interface with the FM radio. There is no mention of it in the Sprint Dev Guide for the EVO and a Google search hasn't gleaned much either. If anyone has or knows where I can find a good API reference or SDK for the BCM4329 chip that includes info about the FM radio, I'd greatly appreciate it.
I did a ton of searching on this. The only thing I ever found was in looking at the source code from the OS that was released by HTC. That st least showed the API and the example code for the FM radio app from HTC.
All that bring said, it really did not help me any since the sdk does not provide the api, I still could not code anything against what I found.

Thanks, that's kind of what I was afraid of... guess that explains why no one has released any alternative FM radio apps... i'll keep looking though...

Hello all,
In light of the recent congressional events regarding ("shhhh") downloaded music, I am now in the wanting to play it safe mode. At my age I have more too loose.
What I'm looking for is the best home to phone streaming app that does not also utilize web based streaming like Audiogalaxy and Subsonic. I am now using both of these but would like to see if there are any alternatives which...shall we say...'are more private'. Simply an app that does not require any website registration but only needs ones own IP to access music.
I would also welcome discussion on the legalities of steaming already downloaded music (home to phone).
Thanks for any thoughts on this topic.
Edit: Now trying Gmote. Can anyone recommend a better one?
Just use Grooveshark.
if you have a daap server at home, say itunes or WDLXTV firmware, there is a simple daap client in the market that works well

Thanks for the reply. After trying Gmote for a couple of days I've decided to ditch it. It tends to start/stop too much on a 3g network, and the UI is horrid. The daap server sounds interesting. If you could recommend one that will work on either XP or W7 I'll try that...assuming there is such an animal.

Not yet, have looked that one over a bit. Gmote lags too much on 3g so I'll try Homepipe next. Oh yea, and my Bucs almost came back on your Ravens last Sunday. If only Freeman had started his "famous" quick offense earlier.
@dsuare021979 For music streaming try:
Pandora (unlimited access is 36/year but has the best quality sound IMO.
A Online Radio (the "A" is part of the app name)
iheartradio
Last.fm
Thank you for the help, but none of them work with the radio station I normally stream
MEGA 97.9 NY. I hope we get an app like wmp soon.

Checked into Homepipe a bit more closely and it's another type that requires a website registration, which is what I'm trying to avoid. Gmote is what I'm looking for, but it's too buggy for me. Guess I'll keep looking but use Audiogalaxy in the meantime. I like Subsonic but on the EVO it has a tendency to repeat the first song all the time. Anyway, thanks for the input.
Just a question to see if you know something that I don't... if you go through and Retag all of your mp3s there should be no real way to see where they came from... ripped from your own cds or otherwise.... at least that's my opinion. But maybe you know something that I don't?

My only experience with re-tagging is to get the files to look right in Audiogalaxy. I collect alot of "Greatest Hits" albums and most of the tracks each have their own album tag. I wish I knew the answer to your question for my own benefit. Anyone else?
I finally found and app that let me stream any radio stations around the world, ( RADIO TIME ) it work great
Two of my most used apps in Sense are the car app and the internet radio app TuneIn.
It was really useful in previous version of Sense to have those combined, and controlling and viewing TuneIn from within the Car App was an awesome feature that was a nonstop use for me.
It seems however that in Sense 6 it no longer exists!
Anyone know if custom roms somehow have reclaimed this feature, and if it's even possible?
I really loved that feature too, it's a shame it's gone.
Have you found solution ?!
Htc One (M7) stock 5.0.2 (rooted)
I'd like to make a suggestion for a different app, try Xiia Live (Pro), it is really superior to TuneIn. Check out their website too.
I'm a sysadmin for a podcast. Used to do a lot with Tune In. But then the Tune In crew changed everything that made their app nice, removed features, and added features nobody wants. Apart from that, their Pro app is over €11 !! And nothing goes to the community. Really, they are not helping the podcast community.
Xiia Live is interesting for developers too... And they make use of public radio directories.
Plus, you should take a look at the interface. I am hoping that this app will become the more popular one, because it actually works together with podcasters and radio stations.
Finally please note - I'm not affiliated with them in any way. I'm just a fan!
