I have Desire HD with 2.3.3 Gingerbread and my GPS location is not correct.
I remember it was working when I have 2.2 Froyo, but now it screwed.
I contacted HTC and they replied me perform a hard reset, I did that but problem still exist.
I want to know if it an common error or it just me?
Thanks for replies

First of all i wan't to apologise because there's probably a thread about this somewhere, but ill be honest i searched and googled a lot and only got more confused. I am really lost in the terminology and everything that is availbale on this forum so i'm just going to ask here and hope for a simple answer.
I have an unbranded unlocked HTC Desire, which i rooted to the Nexus One 2.2 froyo. Now i want to go back to stock 2.1 htc sense so i can update it to 2.2. I can't use the stock roms because htc sync doesn't recognize my phone. so im kinda lost and don't know what to do.
Is it possible to do it? and if it is possible, then can some one please explain in a simple step-by-step form how to do it.
Thank you in advance!
Im pretty sure you can just extract the rom.zip from an ruu and flash it from recovery

Hello,
first of all, before doing something wrong
screen AMOLED or SLCD?
HBoot ? to check the Hboot vol.down+power
U can downgrade to 2.1 (HBoot 0.80) using a SAPPIMG there´s a thread in the forum explaining how to do it, but first check your screen type first...
If it´s AMOLED like mine i can post the RUU i used to unroot the phone and get the Froyo2.2
it's AMOLED
hboot version 0.80.0000
Ok so was mine, so i runned this RUU:
http://shipped-roms.com/shipped/Bra...3.00.32U_5.09.00.20_release_140022_signed.exe
then did the OTA update
i have froyo 2.2 already on it.
will this take me back to the 2.1 htc sense?
just tried it, getting an error that the phone is not connected to the usb. and it obviously is

Why is it precisely that you wish to revert back to HTC 2.1 then to HTC 2.2 again?
You can currently flash HTC 2.2 ROMs directly, which have HTC sync working. They are different to the Google/AOSP FroYo ROMs on many accounts, most paramount with the addition of HTC Sense.

Thank you everyone for your help and use full comments. I ended up using the guide from the desire development forum, its under "[TUT]Complete upgrading guide(root, unroot, flashing ROM & updates)" sorry i cant post links yet. . It is very easy and noobie friendly.
I downgraded to the stock htc desire 2.1 and updated with the official 2.2.
Now i have 2 issues with it:
car mode enables itself every 10 mins or so even if i switch it off.
and some websites reload themselves in 10 or so seconds after loading them.
any ideas?
Thanks

good evening all
i would like to know how can i root my wildfire...
its version is 2.2.1...
with unrevoked it gives me the error...
"is your firmware to new?"
did anyone did this rooting?
thanks
I've been searching up and down and still haven't been able to find it. I believe unrEVOked is working on the wildfire but I have no idea how long they will take. When Froyo 2.2 was released on the Wildfire/ Buzz they patched it so yeah, sucks to be Wildfire users. Lucky I have a Desire
isnt there a problem with the VGA pixels? I mean that it as a tiny display according to the desire.
I have got HTC DESIRE HD with the following Software statistics:
Android Version: 2.2
Software Number: 1.83.415.4
Now i want to root my HTC DESIRE HD to be able to install some custom ROMs of ANDROID 2.3 gingerbread... i have tried using all the different tools such as VISIONARY+ and many other methods that I have found over the internet but none of them works. Can anyone of you please guide me on how to correctly root HTC DESIRE HD, as i've heard that if your software version is greater than 1.72 than its not possible to root it and first you need to downgrade your software version. So help is required from anyone who could help me to downgrade and root my HTC DESIRE HD.
Try searching, you will get your answer a lot quicker. Your specific question gets asked around 2-3 times daily.
Dear, i have been doing that since long but unable to find any suitable option uptil now and that is the reason i finally posted it here.. So if you have any such link which could be of help than that would be nice of you. Thanks...

Hey thanks alot for the help... Actually i tried doing the same procedure again and this time it worked.. i was unable to downgrade as there was some issue with my SD card. Formatted it in normal mode (no QUICK FORMAT) and after that followed the same steps and this time it worked perfectly fine without any issue and finally i have got mh DHD rooted and also S-OFF... Looking for a CUSTOM GINGERBREAD ROM for it.. Do you have any suggestions which one to go for...
Thanks once again for the help...

Hiya matey,
Its gotta be LeeDrOiD's GB all the way mate. Make sure you have a nandroid backup of your old ROM and be sure to backup before any significant changes to your DHD.

Hello
I had a desire on stock froyo which connected to any wifi fine. I had the home button, menu and up volume fail and had a replacement device sent out. I upgraded to HTC official RUU gingerbread and the wifi strength was poor, wifi analyser would see the router but the phone wouldn't connect. I have read on the forums that "It's a gingerbread thing" so I downgraded back to an official htc froyo RUU but still have the exact same problem.
So my question is: Is there any known fix for the gingerbread problem for the desire?
Is there any known similar problems on froyo?
Is it the wifi driver?
is it bcm4329.ko??and can any be changed on its own or do I have to flash the corresponding kernel??
I have searched all over th
e forums, but there is nothing that is very clear as a fix, I have seen
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1039004
But it is unclear if this is a true fix, as some say it works others not.
So i flashed the Desire Z H-BOOT on my T-Mobile G2 so I can use sense UI (specifically sense 4.0). Th radio is outdated on the H-BOOT I used and wanted to upgrade. I don't know if this would be a noob question, but can I just flash the regular radio that the G2 gets in the OTA (26.13.04.19_M) or is there a specific radio for the Desire Z so I can use that? I had a problem where I can only hear calls when a headset is plugged in or speaker is turned on. I think its the radio but i searched everywhere and can't find a solution to my problem...
Thanks in advance!
There is a radio thread in the developement forum with all the files and instructions you need, follow them closely. You can flash whichever radio you want in that thread and I don't think there is a clear way to tell which is "best" unless you know someone in your area that has tested the different radios, it depends on your location, carrier, distance from tower, etc. Some give more siganl but drain battery faster, some are battery meisters but siganal is not so good. Try a few and see what works best for you, just remember to follow the instructions carefully.

i dont know if there are specific radios for the desire z cuz i have the desire z hboot. the radio i flashed is the same one i had when i had the g2 hboot. you think that their might be a radio specifically for the desire z or is the hboot outdated?? ill have to look into that.
thanks again for the reply!

No, there are no specific radios just for the desire z. I have the eng hboot 0.84.2000 for the desire z installed, my phone is through Bell Canada but I actually get better reception/battery with a T-Mobile radio, don't remember which one at the moment(been a few months sinse I flashed it). Not sure but I think that is the only eng hboot available, maybe someone who knows for sure will chime in....

Alright thanks bud! I guess my proble might be with the actual hboot. I'll see if I can find an updated version. You know any xda posts where I can find all of the desire z hboots??

No expert on this, but I don't think an outdated Hboot would cause your earpiece issue. I've never changed from the stock Desire Z Hboot on my phone (purchased Dec 2010) and never had any such issues over multiple ROMs.
Its not clear from your OP, did you flash a new ROM yet, or what ROM are you on? Did you wipe data, cache, and Dalvik before flashing the new ROM?
Agree with Redpoint73,earpiece issue is ROM or hardware,I assume you also wiped the EFS data ? Good practise but not sure will help your problem, no need to "update" your hboot, nothing to be gained.
Wipe your cache and see if that helps,if not try a different ROM ILWT CM 7 is a good effort

I know it isnt a hardware problem because ive never dropped my phone into any liquids, nor have i dropped it from a large height. I was running the ICS JIBwich rom thats sense 4.0. Thats when I noticed the problem. I then restored one of my backups (the instructions from virtuousrom.com told me to) and i still had the problem. Im on CM9 beta and still have the problem.
Im pretty sure its a software issue because i saw some other people have the same problem when migrating to the desire z hboot from the g2 one.
i think im just gonna go back the g2 hboot and then try again with the desire z hboot another time. I just want a stable ICS rom wether its sense or not lol. the sense rom was very stable up to the point where i noticed the earpiece problem.
Thanks for the reply though!
EDIT APRIL 25,2012: So i went back to the G2 HBOOT and still have the issue. It can't be a hardware problem because it happened right after I installed the Desire Z HBOOT. Right now im using the G2 Slim v1.6 ROM and i still have the issue. I saw somewhere that someone was running android 2.2 and when updated the problem was fixed, but I want to keep my rooted phone.
Anyway, thanks for your help and Ill keep searching for a solution to my problem.
