Anyone know what com.htc.fusion.FusionApk.apk is? It is taking up 50 MB of /system. I unpacked it, and it appears to contain three theme-related files: Default, BlueSky and Burgundy. However, the asset files for those themes exist as their own apk's as well, so I'm not sure what this FusionApk thing is.
Virtuous Unity 1.26 leaves about 60 MB free on my DZ's /system. I can easily free up an additional 150 MB by deleting unneeded system APKs with Titanium Backup. I've frozen them first to see if there are any bad side effects, but so far there don't seem to be any. For example, the Sense clock widgets take up 26 MB, and the animated Weather lockscreen takes up 24 MB. I don't use either of those, so I might as well delete them. I'm just not sure what FusionApk is, and a Google search isn't turning up anything useful.
So nobody knows, eh? I suppose it can't be that important then...

Hi, taob, have you found answer by now? Can one safely delete com.htc.fusion.FusionApk.apk, clock widgets and Weather lockscreen?

Not a definitive one, I'm afraid. It does seem to contain a lot of resources used by many other Sense components, so it is probably not safe to remove.

Widgets
Verified clock/weather widgets can be removed as long as neither are active on your unlock screen, but is it worth getting rid of them just to have to reflash if you need them?
deleteeeeeeee

I just deleted it, will post back in a day with results. Phone didn't force reboot so I assume It's ok.
---------- Post added at 02:21 PM ---------- Previous post was at 01:35 PM ----------
Confirmed, you shouldn't delete it, upon reboot, I lost the visual lock ring and my widget boarders as well as pretty much everything that was themed besides the app tray. If you know where these things are, they still work, I.e. you can unlock the screen by sliding the unseen ring and what not, but I would not recommend doing so, now to restore my backup.
Gave it a shot.
Don't wanna bring back a dead thing, but I figured I would answer it...
Using NoBloat, I disabled it. It takes away the dock with HTC Sense 4. It makes your buttons all weird and takes away your app drawer button. I re-enabled it and my dock frame came back. So it is a vital thing to sense UI. My lock screen, its still different but I have no idea which service does that. [I disabled roughly 40 things.. lmao] It doesn't bother me, I do like this lock screen better. Which instead of dragging it up, you drag it to the right, or left for camera. I never noticed anything app wise. My lock screen still worked fine. But when I get a phone call now, I have to unlock before I get to the answer button.. That I don't like but it doesn't bother me that much. Aha. I suppose you could use LauncherPro but I don't like it on my device since it add an on-screen menu button.. lol.

I know... I know... but why?!
Why not?! For the time being, I'm barely using 4, so why the extra 3?! Any way to get it down to 5 for now?! Until more is needed?!
Try LauncherPro
Umm just curious but just don't go to the last left or right screen. The home button can take you back to the middle and you are good to go?
Launcher Pro is an alternative but perhaps you like Sense...well..Refer to first suggestion.

Obviously I know I can avoid the last 2 screens, but I was wondering if it was possible in order to avoid going to that screen by accident. It would also make it easier to select the proper screen when pinched out.
How different is Launcher Pro?! The only reason I like Sense is due to the widgets they have. Will the same ones work with Launcher Pro?!
Just switch to LauncherPro.

I totally hear you. If widgets weren't starting to get so big I think I would be pretty happy with 3.
No, Sense widgets will not work with LauncherPro (or any other launcher) but there are some good market replacements. Also LauncherPro is moving towards having it's own set of widgets that replace most of the functionality of sense, which I think is a great idea.
It is probably possible that someone could open up the Rosie (Sense Launcher) apk and edit a line somewhere to tell it to only have 5 screens, but I haven't ever seen anyone do it. It would only be usable on a rooted phone too, since Rosie is in the Nand, and you can't change it out without root.
ADW.Launcher. how many desktops would you like today? 1 or 7? with adw it's your easy to make choice. along with many many other swell customizations.
i have reduced my total number of desktops as well. i use SmartShortcuts to condense my more commonly used apps and place those icons on the adw bars.
it will have the same issue with widgets. if a widget has been written specifically for Sense it won't work. however, there are many nifty cool things in the marketplace.
for example you you can use:
SmoothCalendar - a calandar widget (there are many on the marketplace depending on style preference)
Beautiful Widgets - many folks love this product. (not a free product)
DigitalClock Widget - what i use to get time/date on my screen.
SmartShortcuts - allows me to keep a very clean main desktop...the 4 visible icons pull up custom application groups. (see chess screenshot)
i would also suggest trying out:
QuickDeskBETA - see screenshot with all the icons? that is QD, it will popup over top of any existing window simply w/ a long press of the search button. so i can turn on my screenshot tool without going all the way back to main screens or turn on 4G without having to exit the browser.
one last thing, i would suggest that you install either launcherpro or adw and play with em. what will happen the first time is this. when you click on the home button it will ask you which launcher you wish to use (Sense, adw or launcherpro). there is a check box that says 'make this choice default' ... check that button when you feel semi confident as to which launcher you wish to use. 2 days later when you decide that you want to try using Helix2 (or whatever) simply go to Settings -> Applications -> Manage applications -> go to the current default laucher and "clear defaults" (see the adw screenshot)
I am running SkyRaider 3.3.3. My desire is to remap Rosie so that the center button will open the root folder in App Folders rather than my usual app drawer. This is because I have a lot of applications and having folder organization in my app drawer is a necessity.
I have searched and found a lot of threads about remapping, but none that give clear, step-by-step directions as to what needs to be edited.
I am likely trying to get into a project that's way over my head, but I would love to give it a shot and noodle with it in my free time. I just don't know where to begin.
Also, I am aware that this exact modification went into Uncommon Sense, which I have used and enjoy, but I would love to be able to change ROMs at will without losing this valuable feature.
EDIT: In an effort to try to figure it out by inductive reasoning, I have looked at the logs to see what events are triggered when I press the app drawer button, as well as the action I'd like to remap to that button. I then decompiled SkyRaider's Rosie classes.dex with baksmali and started digging around. So far, I can find absolutely nothing that makes any sense, leading me to believe this project is much, much bigger than I anticipated. I did get a laugh from the "UserHappinessSignals" file (the name, at least). I almost expected to open the file and find a list of words like "smile," and "laughter."
Alas, that was the one ray of sunshine in this otherwise massive and hellish undertaking.
The saddest part of this whole thing is that this exact thing I'm trying to do has been done in another ROM (Uncommon Sense). Mapping the exact same app (I installed the same modified version from Uncommon Sense 1.1) to the exact button I'm aiming for. I know the answer exists, and might not even be that impossible, but thus far, I'm stumped. Further, I'm lead to believe that Rosie.apk isn't the only place I'll need to work; I hear also com.htc.resources?
Honestly, if anyone can help me out, I'd be much obliged. I have put forth a great deal of effort thus far, but I'm realizing that effort without guidance results in a significantly higher ratio of time wasted vs. productive time.
Bump, with clarification.
I don't need or want to change the appearance of Rosie. I just want to change the event triggered when I press it.
I feel that should be at least a bit easier than an extreme cosmetic overhaul. Still beyond me, though.

I'm pretty sure I can get this working for you homie.
you need to be on a stock DEODEXED ROM. this is a must, I deodexed teh latest Nov OTA with no name completely stock deodexed. here is a link - http://www.multiupload.com/2KS0OS60DR
then what you need to do is either take uncommon sense's ROM rosie.apk or it's framework-res.apk. I think you just need the Rosie.apk, if you pull the rosie.apk from the uncommon sense rom you know has it, and make it into a flashable .zip to flash in recovery. I used this method for mynwarms rosiesettings.apk which allows you to pick the left and right rosie buttons with an easy to use app. its mad kick ass. but hit me up PM we'll get you going.
@kensikora:
The issue is that there are a couple of areas that need to be changed depending on how you want it to look.
The buttons, mapping of buttons and icons are in the Rosie APK. the App Drawer information is also in the Rosie APK (transparent, black, 4 or 5 rows). The look of the dock is in the resources (transparent, button look, traditional arc or straight line, ETC).
I am sorry if I missed this, but could you please let me know EXACTLY what you are looking for:
This is what I have currently:
Left Button - Phone
Middle Button - All Apps
Right Button - Google Voice
The dock it a traditional Rosie that is Semi transparent.
It is possible to create a flashable zip for the Rosie only that will assign your button locations BUT will take on the look of what ever ROM you flash.
EDIT: re-read 1st post. I belive I suggested you check out the EVO thread : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797688
if anyone can set up that center button to go where you want, he can.
The only change I really want to make is to have the center button open a modified version of App Folders instead of the usual all apps drawer, exactly how it works in Uncommon Sense.
I just really want to be able to try different ROMs instead of being tied to Uncommon Sense based solely on Rosie mods.

Is there some way to re-arrange my home screens?
I am running a rooted, stock Sprint Sense ROM. The last time I flashed a ROM, I did not know how to back-up my home screens (still don't), and slowly re-built them. I couldn't remember exactly how I had them set up before. Now, I pretty much have what I want, but I don't like the order they are in.
Is there an app or trick that would let me re-arrange them? What about backing them up and restoring after a ROM flash?
Umm, you just long press each app shortcut or widget. Then you can delete it or move it. If you want to add something to a blank space, long press the blank space. Android 101...
I think he is referring to rearranging his home screens as a whole so that he doesnt have to individually move each shortcut/widget.
Unfortunately, I haven't used Sense in almost a year. So I am not much help in this area.
Mikg does this...

Press the home screen so that you see all the home screens. Then select one and HOLD. Then drag it and it'll rearrange.

Hi peeps,
I expect to get flamed for posting a repeat thread, for not fully searching the forums before posting, etc etc,
So instead of asking anything specific I'm just gonna share my experience so far with my Sprint Galaxy Note 2 and if any of you have any helpful tips for the issues I'm encountering, fire away.
I have searched for a few weeks now, and what I'm about to describe is where I'm at AFTER lots of experimenting and searching both this and other forums as well as plain old google web searches.
I researched devices before buying for something with enough processing power and RAM to replace my ASUS netbook, which, though small, wouldn't fit on my bike handlebars and was all around too bulky for outdoor adventures. Offline GPS app use, bike computer apps, taking videos in its handlebar mount as I rolled down the highway, etc, etc. I also fancied the idea of connecting it to the (usually 1080 16:9) TVs found in the hotel rooms across the country, most of which these days have an HDMI port on them. Also in my plans is to hack together some kind of case with a mini bluetooth keyboard in it.
I use Photoshop all the time on my Windows machines so I wanted something that would run Photoshop Touch. I downloaded PS Touch from the Amazon app store (paid for it legally) since Google Play wouldn't let me download it. I knew it was't officially supported before purchasing.
Then I set about hacking into things to get more content, icons, menus visible on the screen and tried to get PS Touch to display properly.
First I rooted the phone, installed super user, etc. Left the stock ROM on there. Then I modified the Build.prop for 180 pixel density, and voila, Photoshop Touch worked great, the full menus were visible. But a host of other problems presented themselves.
Some of the UI elements scaled to the display fine. 3rd party apps ALL look fine. They all scale correctly. The most obvious issue was that the home pages were still showing the same amount of icons, the grid count was the same, but all the icons where in the middle of the screen with lots of space around them. I noticed that the clock on the lockscreen was now in the upper left corner, and that Chrome was now showing (desktop/tablet style) tabs at the top. So I realized that some aspects of the UI and certain apps were coded to display different depending on the pixel density.
I'm wondering where in the APK's manifest.xml (or elsewhere) this is specified.
To get things looking better on the home screens and to enable landscape homescreens, I installed Nova Launcher, and I prefer it over the stock launcher. It's a more desktop like environment. I figured I could set up a homescreen page with lots of big widgets on it for fumbling with it on the go (making things big and easy to touch like with a 320 pixel density setting), and then I could have a bunch of icons on another homescreen page for the "desktop" style view when close to my face or connected to an external display.
All of this was fine except several of the widgets not longer worked, or didn't even show up in the widget list anymore. My list of issues follows:
- The multi-window app-chooser bar scales correctly when it's at the top or bottom of the screen, but does not completely span the display when on either side of the screen (in portrait OR landscape mode).
- The multi-window separator bar (between the 2 displayed apps) does not span the entire display, though it works otherwise
- In the stock e-mail app, landscape view works fine, but portrait view of the messages list and of the emails themselves is cropped to only the left side of the display, with blank space on the right.
- The drop-down notification drawer is the same number of pixels as it used to be (I believe) and therefore no longer scales to the entire display. In landscape mode, it's not only too small, but off-center as well. This is something I haven't been able to hack, there doesn't seem to be any notification drawer replacement apps.
- The alarm clock app (which honestly I liked better than any thrid party ones) stopped working completely. When I tap the Clock icon in the apps drawer, it starts up but only displays a black screen and then I get the error message that Clock has stopped. Bummer.
- The numeric keypad for the stock dialer app is up in the middle of the screen (vertically) and at the left edge.
- The UI elements, buttons, etc on the camera app don't scale, leaving buttons floating off of the gray background strips and over the top of the image viewfinder area. I prefer the interface of Camera JB+ anyway, which works great. But you can't use Camera JB+ with the stock messaging app if you wanna snap a quick pic to attach to a message. Unless you take the pic with Camera JB+, then go to messaging, then attach it from the stock gallery app. This leads me to one of my biggest questions. I'm sure it's been covered, but I don't know the terminology and numerous searches have yielded no answers...if someone just tell me what it's called, I'll do my best to search for it myself...I wanna know how to tell one app to allow me to use another app to import content What I mean is when, for instance, I go to attach a pic to a message, a list of sources comes up, gallery, camera, etc. But certain apps are't on that list...only the stock camera shows up, only the stock gallery app...sometimes this isn't the case...when I am in the stock contacts app, and I go to add a photo to a contact...it lets me choose from the various camera and gallery apps I have installed...when I click on the little button to message the contact, it lets me choose Handcent, etc...but the messaging app and the lockscreen wallpaper chooser in the settings menu don't let me choose images from anything but the stock gallery app, wheras the homescreen wallpaper can be chosen from any of my gallery apps. I want to know where to hack in and change this to "link" or "associate" the apps. Or at least I wanna know what this type of link between apps is called so I can search for it myself.
- The stock weather widget is just plan missing now. Don't know where it went. I liked it better than any of the ones I've downloaded.
I'm also noticing decreased battery life...not sure why, as I have a bunch of bloat apps removed and I'm running the same ROM. Maybe that's in my head.
So I'm looking at installing a custom ROM...but not sure where to start...I have searched and read about a bunch of ROMs for the Note 2. But nowhere did I see anything about how well the ROM's UI elements and included apps would scale to a 180 pixel density display...
I'd like a ROM that works well with my display settings, includes options for the number of icons on the home screen, where all the included apps see each other, and where I can ad any program to the multi-window list without hacking into each and every APK to enable it (I know there's really no way to do that, but perhaps an included feature to help you through the process without using a PC would be cool). I want everything deodexed so backups and restores are easy (I backed up a bunch of system apps and uninstalled them, creating a backup from ES File Explorer, AND saving the APK and ODEX files...but was unable to re-install them...).
Anybody have a good suggestion for a ROM that works well with different pixel settings?

I think you would REALLY benefit from installing the XPOSED app mod. Essentially, it changes the DPI value, but instead of changing the DPI for EVERY app, it only changes the dpi for the app you select.
so assuming you start from the normal 320 dpi, you can then assign Photoshop touch to run at 180 dpi, therefore ONLY affecting that app and leaving everything else the same.

AWESOME tool to know about, thanks. That sounds like it would do what I need...though I'd still like more/smaller icons on the home screen....Which I think you can do at stock pixel density with Nova Launcher paid version...
Researching XPOSED now...some people complain about longer phone startup...is it the kind of thing where you can use the app to modify the APK, then uninstall the app? I'm gonna find out...THANKS.
There is also a thread in the app/theme section regarding resized stock apps. The dialer, camera, keyboard etc were are scaled to a lower dpi. That might help some of your issues

I appreciate y'all takin the time to help me with this, Helps me out a lot......I have one question about android and scaling of graphics in general...The notification drop-down drawer...is that technically an "app"? Like is it one of the services, or hidden system apps or something...or is that "part of the frame work" and not skinable or changeable without changing ROMs? because I'm wondering how to scale that...but also just so I understand the OS better, what is that status drawer part of? Cause it's obviously not part of the launcher...
I'm about to try all these things out...thanks.
For email, pull the note 10.1 email apk and exchange apk from a 10.1 rom and put it in system/app reboot and enjoy!
That and as mentioned...xposed app is full of win. I personally use go launcher or apex launcher to fix the whole launcher issue.
The drop down is customizable. .you may really benefit from spending an hour or so reading through the themes and apps section

Dudes....thanks a ton. I got all of that up and running. I'm able to set it up just as I want and with the tip about which app controls the context menus, that answered my next question. Totally tweakable. My only issue is that the stock dialer and stock contacts are really within the same app...I wanted to keep the dialer at default dpi and scale the contacts to be smaller....I'm guessing that's what a "shared package" is....which isn't supported yet....but I'll try that 240 dpi version mention above and see how that works.
I'm in the process of reorganizing and editing my UCCW skins since I know more about it than when I first started. I'll be uploading edited and new skins shortly. The widgets I make currently are all 5x2 size except the Daft Punk skin. That was my first attempt at making an actual skin, I'm still fairly new to this app. I have no idea how to get weather icons to show up again. Once I get an idea I start working on it, and I usually wind up changing a few things before I'm done with it. I'm so indecisive at times it's irritating lol. I'm open to ideas and suggestions, as well as critiques (don't be to harsh, I'm still new).
I was using Nova Launcher with Prime add-on for the Daft Punk skin, Scarface skin, and Elegance Skin. I'm now using TSF Shell which I LOVE for the Mortal Kombat skin, Killer Instinct skin, and Swirl skin. The hotspots I assign and use are pretty much universal. I don't want to "force" you to use an app you may not even want. If anyone runs into an issue with one of my skins, please advise me of it so that it can be corrected. I use wallpapers I've found on the internet and/or Zedge. I'm not trying to take credit for things that aren't mine.

That's a very nice setup you have. You're right, the possibilities are practically endless for this app. I'm still learning how to use it and do certain things with it. I do have a question that maybe you can answer, where can I get additional font files to use for the widgets I create? I happily donated to show support for something that will keep me occupied since I'm constantly changing things around on my phone. I've attached a few examples, but I'm not using them right now.
You can use ttf files, just make a folder called "fonts" on your sd card, I find them all over the net for free.

Thanks for those websites, they've come in handy for me. I have a question for you though, are you familiar with making full screen widgets? I'm trying to make one now and honestly, I see why people just search for themes. I used to have an HTC Inspire 4G so I decided to try and make a HTC Sense 2.1 style widget. I can't get the sizing right, and it's a hassle trying to actually use it. I tried to make it Apex/Nova launcher friendly first because I don't think everyone has/wants TSF Shell. You can see the issue in the screen shot, and to do that I had to enable resizing and overlapping widgets and then send the full screen one to the back. I preferred the sizing abilities in TSF Shell because I can be more precise when adding new widgets/folders/apps but just make sure to add the full screen uccw widget last but even still, there's no send to back option so would the transparency in the widget allow me to use the other items on the screen? I know this is a very difficult and round about way to have a sense style look because there are plenty of themes for it, but I was just thinking outside the box compared to what I've already created.
I haven't really tried anything like that, and I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to do. Are you trying I to have like a wifget-in a-widget sort of effect?
