best browser for downloading media? - Verizon Droid Incredible 2

i made another post regarding download issues with my Inc 2 but it has come to my attention that certain browsers now block you from being able to download stuff like .mp3 files. that being the case, I currently use the stock browser, dolphin hd and skyfire. downloads dont seem to work with any of them.
does anyone know of a browser that will allow you to download media?... and to let you know, i can download torrents just fine with adownloader.

Dolphin and stock both work for me as well

Download astro file manager. Go into preferences and check the box to allow browser downloads.
I've had other phones that would not allow me to download anything until this was done.

I have "Download All Files" installed and have been able to use that when email attachments or other downloads fail to make it to my SD for whatever reason. I'm not a big fan of the option to use it popping up almost every time I click a link though...

[Q] How to enable download through 4G?

I'm new to the galaxy section so give me a little break. My previous 2 devices never had this issue.
How to you enable the phone to download files(any files) through your 4g network or even wiring?
I cannot seem to be able to download ANYTHING to my phone regardless of wifi or 4g.
I can download from the market which works fine. Its only downloads.from like multi upload and stuff.

I've had the issue as well. I tried many different sites. Typically megaupload worked for me but not on this device. I have no workaround that I have found yet and can suggest.
Download Astro file manager from the market its free, then open it, go under file manager/ then scroll the top tabs right to "preferences" and put a check mark next to enable browser downloads. Works for me.

Thanks! I'll try this out!
I use "Download all files" from the market because astro didn't work for me. Give it a try if you find yourself in my situation.

Opera Mobile is also better about downloading files.
I noticed this issue with the browser too. I installed FireFox mobile and it works great for downloading from Multiupload!
yea i had the same problem. it has something to do with the browser, now i am using dolphin Browser HD and no problems i can download from any website i want. so just download another browser from market.
try dolphin HD. works amazing
Dolphin HD is much slower than Opera Mobile and has trouble with sites like fileserve.

Downloads Unsuccessful!

For some reason if i download larger files over 3g and i set my phone down and let it go into a deep sleep, when i pick it up and check the downloads they will be unsuccessful. How do i stop this? I don't want to have to play with my phone to keep it from going to sleep

you can try a different browser or use astro file manager to download files for default browser, download astro from market place, then press menu more preferences and enable browser downloads, its good for different file types and it works pretty good with downloading.

Stock Browser Doesn't Let Me Download...

Has anyone been experiencing this issue? I can pretty much download anything in a 'third party' browser like Dolphin HD, but my question is with the stock browser. I'm not a Dolphin fan since that whole "capture you information" issues with them, so I been getting myself use to use the stock browser that came with our SGS2..
I only had my AWESOME phone for only a week.. I came from a HTC G2, which I never had this problem.
How come I can't download anything? It would say download unsuccessful. If I go into downloads and press on the it, it would say "Download Failed. Can not download. The content is not supported on this phone.". I'm trying to download simple MP3s from the Coast to Coast AM site..
I never experienced this issue with my G2 on any browser. On my new SGS2, it can only be downloaded from third party browsers...
Any guesses?
It seems (as I type this post) someone in the G2X forums has also been experiencing this issue HERE.
Download astro file manager and I. Settings enable browser download. It'll let you use stock browser for dl. Its not a bug it happens with most stock browsers.

Or you can use Opera Mobile Browser. That lets you download straight from the server link.

flash player 11

Didn't see any posts, figured I'd upload it so people wouldn't have to search. Tested, works fine on stock browser and probably some others, but of course not chrome
Been looking all over for this. Thanks :good:
Thanks man. Going to test it

I'm running stock, of course I'm rooted, and I use dolphin browser.
HOW THE HELL CAN I GET THE TO WORK?! ha ha, I'm not freaking out but it's kind of annoying. I've install the APK but nothing has changed. Maybe I'm missing a step or setting.

Yup, if anyone wants to use flash with Dolphin, you'll have to find an older Dolphin HD app...but that typically crashes when you try to rotate the video...xscope works great with flash though.
I dont find the need of using flash with dolphin. Its the only browser that lets me see most videos online, in websites like gorillavid, putlicker and other. Dont know if it is because of the html5 support but it sure gives a nice performance. I used to watch the wire in dolphin at night

For those of you who go to the trouble of installing an old version of Dolphin- beware. Mine use to update itself to the new version all by itself. Even with updates disabled!
not working with opera mobile
works only with stock browser
I have the apk installed. To see flash content I use Firefox beta. Works very well. Only crashed once while watching a video.

I could see any flash streams BEFORE the update with the default browser, but after the update, it looks like the Stock browser does not work with Flash anymore.
I can watch the streams with Dolphin Browser, but not with the default one.
Anyone knows a work-around to be able to see the Flash content in the Default browser?

Dolphin is the best browser, does everything out of the box

Just use this along with flashify, which will allow you to open links that have flash running in them in your stock browser. Works well for me for the few times I need to see a flash derived page.
I've been using Dolphin Beta with the flash player, cause I think the newest Beta has some form of the Jetpack.
I use this to enable flash. Not so sure about the add-ons though.
At the very least, it's pretty fast, and it doesn't sacrifice flash.
Use "Puffin Web Browser" for Flash - Best I've experienced so far...overall....stable.

Flash 11 does work on the Note 2

If anyone was wondering about getting flash working on their phone for sites that haven't converted to HTML5, it is possible to install and make flash player 11 for android work on these phones. You can get the apk file from blapkmarket.com and install it. After doing that, flash will start working in the built in browser and add on browsers as well. So no more little ? box because it can't display that little flash video in the browser.
Proof it works after being installed in the screen shot. And the apk file is the installer I used from blapkmarket.
Enjoy!
Yes thank you:thumbup:

You may have to launch the stock browser and go into Settings -> Advanced and enable plugins to your choice, on demand or always to see flash working. Also I don't think flash works with Chrome no matter what. Other browsers seem fine.

Make sure you have the option to allow installing from unknown sources.
And I doubt it matters, but I installed this on a rooted phone. Still stock odex rom.
And its really simple to make this work. Download the apk. Copy to your storage (phone or external). Run the apk. It installs and presto, you have flash in browser. I've only tested it with the stock web browser.
worked for me, only on stock browser though, no go on chrome
Thanks!!!

OP didn't upload the latest version of flash. Get the latest version straight from Adobe.
Direct link to latest version: http://download.macromedia.com/pub/flashplayer/installers/archive/android/11.1.115.27/install_flash_player_ics.apk
Adobe's website where they post all of the versions: http://helpx.adobe.com/flash-player/kb/archived-flash-player-versions.html

Chrome is having issues on the Note II... for me at least.
I use FireFox for Flash sites.
Another thing that is not working well in Chrome is pasting into text fields. Lastpass and Chrome are not happy together for some reason.
Worked for me!
I've been running Flash Player 11.1.115.12 since the day I rooted my phone; about the second day after I got my phone. I had a Titanium Backup from my Evo 4G.
I don't like the stock browser. I use Boat Browser when I need a flash player for a website.
I've read you can download the APK directly from Adobe, but I could never find on their site. I'm always a bit weary about downloading something not on Google Play or developed by XDA members. Anything popular like Flash Player I'm even more weary because "the bad people" know it's popular, in demand, so one could end up downloading and installing malicious software instead.
my apologies, it appears I'm out of date. It looks like the international GN2, there was a thread with e direct link to the same version. The download link in the thread is to the same site macromedia that Adobe links to for the archieved versions. The thread is at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1954255
I'm still weary of anything from a third party android market which are victorious for viruses.
Victorious!!!
