Hello,
Is there anyone that can kindly recoomend and point me in the right direction to a pure gingerbread rom (not CM7)? Preferably based on the G2 update, that is up to date, pure and stable?
Thanks
here you go Virtuous G-Lite
There is an RC of the same rom available over at #virtuousrom irc
Id recommend xboarders rom. He also has a cyanogenmod mix as well

Believe it or not its faster, I tested it last week. RMK said he was going to release it. Don't know why he didn't though.
RC isn't available for download anymore.
The cyanogen/mix rom appears to just be a paint job. Not worth it IMHUMBLEO. Virtuous g-lite is really the only other thing. Sorry
Xboarder's Pure/stock rom is what I'm using now. It's fast and stable in my opinion.

Thanks for the replies, Been using CM7 nightlies, been great, but sometimes feels somewhat unfinished and often get force closes and crashes when using normal apps. Sense is great but in my opinion is a bit of a memory hog.
Just installed xboarder56 pure stock gingerbread rom:

Seems to be working great and very fast and stable.
Wish there were more roms based on the official T-mo G2 gingerbread rom.

I've been using CM7 since the first nightlies and its been months since I've seen a force close. I realize everyone has a different setup and therefore different issues though.
I've also checked out the xboarder56 ROM. Very good if you want super stock.

Try CyanogenMod 7 or use Google and install Ultimate Droid Mod 3.3.0. If you prefer the HTC UI called Sense UI you could use Virtuous Rom. If you prefer the "iPhone"-Style (please dont punish me for that xD) you could use a MIUI rom.

xboarder's rom is built from CM7 source, but isn't CM7 itself. still, it is new and if you like it, it should work better than GV1.5 in terms of bugs.
be on the lookout for a gingervillain update sometime in the future, though. I've been waiting for a loooong time for 2.0 to roll out.

What custom ROM have you found to be the most stable and functional.
Im using CM7 nightlys at the moment
RMK's stock debloated rom. CM7's constantly crashed and did weird **** on me.
I second RMK gingersense.
OMGB. super stable, functional, speedy and customizable. Honestly its my daily with the exception of MIUI

What is the difference between the 2 files
I use the debloated gingerbread rom from RMK. I like that one alot. Although recently I have been getting bad data issues. I will prolly try both of these OMGB roms and see which one I like better.
The difference is one has more customized features and the first link is mainly just plain gingerbread with a different font style.
I'm new to this game but I've been very happy with CyanogenMod so far. I've had no crashes or problems yet. It's been exactly what I wanted.

OMGB = Oh My GingerBread = Pure Gingerbread Stock
OMFGB = Oh My Fxxxxxx Gingerbread = Modified/Customized(however you want to call it) version of OMGB
I'm diggin OMFGB right now. Very simple with enough customization options to keep me happy, I'm not really a customization freak though lol. Its been very stable for me since I flashed the 7/24 nightly and is a great ROM overall.
Sent from my Incredible 2 using XDA App
If you want to stay mostly stock, rmk's Gingersense. Otherwise, I'm running OMGB, and now that I've figured out some more "major" issues, I'm not seeing myself going back.
OMFGB is a slightly more customized version of OMGB, nightlies only (90% sure on that), but still pretty stable too though.
I wish some other ROMs besides RMK had a compass fix. I use google sky and google maps a lot so it's the only ROM I use. I wish some other ROMs would fix the compass issue like they did with the OTA GB update.
left CM for OMFGB so far Im impressed. I realized I really liked sense and I can actually hear people when they call. I also like the fact when you dial a couple digits of the persons name it brings up their #, Not sure whats that feature is called but That was something I was missing in CM

I just got an Incredible 2 to replace my Nexus One (new job, new phone), and I'm trying to find a stable, updated and minimal ROM. I have been going through the DEV forum, and I see quite a few choices, but I don't see anything that's minimal. Something similar to this.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I might give Liquid Smooth a try- AOSP GB 2.3.7 built from source and very minimal. It's in ROM Manager too.
Im not a fan of rom manager, but I like most AOSP.

It looks like a nice ROM, but I don't think it's minimal. Are there any other suggestions? In the mean time, I'll just root my current phone and remove the bloatware.

OMFG is probably the most minimal AOSP.

Are you looking to upgrade to 2.3 or stick with 2.2?
If you want to stick with 2.2, my vote is for SkyRaider 4.3 on the Team Bamf site. It is my all-time favorite. I don't use it anymore simply because it is still 2.2.
I've got no advice on sense 2.3, as I use AOSP now.
I gotta have me some notification toggles (which SkyRaider has)....

Skyraider is an excellently built ROM and is extremely stable.

i just installed the stock+ rom... so far so good.
i like the stock phone but wanted to fix things like ext4 to fix the low memory issues which lead me to needing non-stock kernel. stock+ rom / kernel got installed this morning and so far so good!
Did you try the messaging icon under all apps? Sometimes I have to remove the messaging icon on the main screen and drag the all-apps one back to the front screen. Then all is fine again...not sure why???
I've personally tried a few Sense 3.5 ROMs and the upgrades to the interface are really slick. I'd definitely recommend giving a couple of them a shot.
Try Nils Business Gingersense 3.5 or Prime XL 3D to get a feel for it.
Cyanogenmod 7 with the new Incredikernel is my favorite, if she do without the 720p recording give that a try.

I need to update my wife's DInc 2 and was wondering if anyone has suggestions on a stable ROM. I don't have time to try a bunch out for her and am not familiar with the phone. she's not techy, so it needs to work, but stock is a little boring/laggy for her.

If you want stable but don't like stock, I would suggest cm7 (mrom) or the old gingerbread miui (though this may be harder to find unless someone still has it, try rom manager). Ics and jellybean can be iffy since we never got an official release and a proper kernel.

I say CM7 (even their latest nightly has a lot of customizations) or Skyraider Zeus (what I am currently running). Although ICS works really well - it has its glitches which could be frustrating for someone who doesn't want to deal with workarounds.

+1 for Skyraider Zeus, got an iPhone and I gave my DI2 to my mom threw Skyraider on it because I didn't want to have to talk her through clearing data to make camera's work and I used it for two days while the new phone was in the mail and forgot why I stopped using it. One of the smoother/fast roms and the battery life is amazing. Easily double what I got on Viper's.

Agree with this. Although I've only tried CM7 because I'm all about battery life and stability. MROM does that and more. The UI is clean and everything is zippy. It really gets the most out of this phone. Who needs ICS or Jellybean when you have a kickass rom like this?

I have run this rom with and without the scripts, I don't see much if any difference. You don't have to use those if you don't want to. And you don't need an app to overclock, it has that in settings. But you can use that to undervolt and change I/o's. As phonetool stated, this rom runs really well on this phone. Give it a shot.

I had been using DKStunna's Global 10.1 JB ROM build 3 as my DD for a few months and it was mostly stable. It would lag out once in a while I was managing apps, but it was pretty fast with the built-in Nova Launcher. I got tired of not having a working camcorder and since DKStunna broke his Vivow and ceased development I decided to switch to ChillyBean's ParanoidAndroid/PAC 2.19 ROM. So far it's been awesome! It has "inverted" GAPPS, Facebook, and some other core system apps, which I'm not a fan of, but it's supposedly something you can change. I have a working camcorder again (after a few tweaks), which is what I was looking for. It looks like ChillyBean broke his Vivow also so I don't know how much more development he'll be able to do, which is very sad. Anyway, I highly recommend the latest ParanoidAndroid.

You don't have to change anything for the inverted gapps. Just flash the normal ones instead. Then you never have the inverted ones to begin with.
