[Q] Need help with my phone (access only to hboot/fastboot) - Desire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
on my phone i have access only to HBOOT/FASTBOOT and i have goldcard. So i tried to flash it using PB99IMG.zip on SDcard, but iam getting error "Main Version is older!". When i tryed to flash it by RUU, i got error 140 "BOOTLOADER VERSION ERROR"
I have HBOOT version 0.93.0001
What should i do now?
BTW, phone is S-ON and i dont have access to recovery.

Yea you need to flash a ruu using the PB99IMG.zip. However the one you have tried is an old one(hboot is older than 0.93.0001) And HTC doesn't allow you to downgrade your hboot(for security purposes).
So just download a more recent ruu and use the PB99IMG.zip it should have a software version around 2.29.405.

Ok, but where i can download that images? I tried to find them on google, but no succes :-(.
Can you give me a hint pls?
EDIT: Ok, i think i found it... downloading now, will inform you later...

It worked for some people. And in five minutes there should not be any hardwaredestroying at all.

So that freezer thing really helped :-D. Flashing was sucessfull, now trying to boot to android.

So flashing was sucessfull, but phone still not booting to android or recovery. Just freezes on green HTC logo on white background.
Any sugestions?

[Q] Bricked my DHD, please help :(

Let me just start off by saying poop.
I've been reading up on these forums quite a lot, equipping myself with enough knowledge to get going on using this phone to its potential.
After the anticipation of getting my DHD, I went about rooting it. I used this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=841076.
Everything went fine without much trouble. I completed all the steps in rooting it and gaing SU access. Also installed the Clockwork Recovery mod without a hiccup. I went on to install the Android Revolution ROM and going through the guide I used a tool called: 'Easy Wipe Upgrade.'
After installing this zip, the phone reboot and it just refuses to budge. Stuck on the HTC splash screen.
I've held down the bottom volume button with power and it gets me into HBOOT. I've tried a variety of option such as factory resets and nothing seems to be working.
My luck and phones. Just have a very expensive brick now sitting on my desk. Ah
I'd appreciate any help I can get please. Thanks.
I managed to resolve it!
Just FYI. Mounted the USB (Which was hidden fairly deeply) I guess you don't look when you panic? I then dropped on the ROM and installed it and boot up took a while but voila, it worked!
Well done, I would go mental if I bricked my phone. That's why I am still just reading up rather than trying things.
Sent from my Desire HD using XDA App
in the exact same situation as you where Could you go into abit more detail how you resolved this? currently have no phone cheers
whats wrong with your phone mate
Just so you know, as long as you have access to the bootloader (can be stock bootloader with S-ON, doesn't matter), 99% of the time you can 'unbrick' your phone by installing a stock RUU (PD98IMG.zip method) which returns your phone to complete stock.
If you install the wrong RUU while ENG HBOOT S-OFF then you can potentially fudge up your phone for good (unless you have Radio S-OFF, then you are fine - just install the correct RUU).
So don't worry, because there is nearly always a way to go back to how your phone was before you started hacking it.

hey guys, hope u could help me out.. i tried this RD1945's method.. got an ruu file, renamed the ruu file, then i put it on my micro sd card using a reader, then i plug it back in my phone, run hboot, the hboot parsed the zip file which i renamed according to the steps.. after it parsed it brought me back to the fastboot, recovery, restore factory defaults menu, etc... which i then chose fastboot then reboot... it reboots but im still stuck at the htc white splash screen for some time now.. what am i doin wrong? does it take long to start? sorry im a noob can someone explain to me how its done properly?

You are not supposed to rename the RUU file, rather you run the RUU file and then afterwards locate the ROM.zip file located in your temp folder. This ROM.zip file is meant to be renamed PD98IMG.zip, NOT the RUU file.
ok that was stupid of me.. ok will try to give it a go..
sorry if this sounds stupid to you again.. but, i just wana be sure.. its my first smartphone..
anyway, i run the ruu file on my pc, yeah? so then when i run it, it asks me to connect my dhd using the usb cable.. so i did... but it couldnt detect my phone.. thus, it couldnt continue it's setup.. ;-( thank you for helping out..
Make sure you install HTC Sync, it should also install all the DHD USB drivers needed.
hey, do you have any step by step guide on doing this? im afraid il do something wrong again and just risk messing up the phone even more..
i have htc sync and the htc drivers on my laptop but when i connect the usb plug to my phone and try to run the ruu.. it still gives me the prompt of no connection from the pc and android phone.. :-| what am i doing wrong? sorry...
thanks in advance for the any help!
i managed to get to the update part.. but now it prompts a 131 error message.. :-( help?

cheers man!!
I have the same problem and even in fastboot it doesnt work.
Give us more details please.
SwiftKeyed from dGB with Transparent XDA App
so you done super cid and it work? then you tried to flash th rru using windows and got the error?
155 can also be if you have CM hboot or something as RUU wont fit.
so just to make this clear if i get this error i put the phone into hboot and then run rru again on the pc?
Thanks
Thanks mate i had same problem thanks to your post i saw i needed to put it into fastboot!
(HTC SENSATION)
Possible solution?
I also need to send my sensation back for warranty but couldn't get the pyramid ruu to install, also getting the 155 error.
IDK but I was running a custom rom based on RUU 1.73 and trying to to RUU 1.29 and it kept failing.
I finally installed a different custom ROM based on RUU 1.43, and then I ran the stock ruu installer/updater and it worked just fine.
Like I said, IDK for sure, but maybe it had to do with the versions of the RUU that i was trying to get from/to.
good luck

Go into the bootloader, press on fastboot, connect to your PC and run the RUU.
Nice job!
Thanks for the info dude you saved me a lot trouble.
PS: if ruu is not finding your device on the white screen make sure you select fastboot and press the powerbutton, then try it again
My problem was the error message came up after the installer tried to reboot to bootloader. The custom ROM I had installed must have been interfering with this. So selecting fastboot from the bootloader menu, before starting the RUU, has bypassed this sticking point. Great news, only took 2 hours! Usually a problem like this would stump me for days until a Eureka moment.

HTC DESIRE unroot with RUU 2.3.3 failed

Hi guys.
I know there are several posts already opened about this, but I`ve tried all I read there and nothing worked.
I wanted to send my rooted Desire back for repairs(camera LED broken thanks to a Torch app), and wanted to unroot it before I do.
I`ve read on some posts that u can unroot the phone by running the official Gingerbread 2.3.3 RUU found on htcdev.com (the official RUU), so I downloaded the RUU, installed hTC Sync, installed the Desire`s USB drivers(the same one`s that are required when rooting with Revolutionary).
The RUU started installing, the phone rebooted into the HTC splash screen and the "update" of the RUU started going, both PC and phone showed the cursor of the installing process, and at about 90% the PC gave me an error (update error).
I`ve tried again and again to run the RUU but everytime, it failed. And now, my Desire just won`t boot. I`ve taken the battery out, put it back, turned it on, and the only thing that appers on the screen is the white HTC logo on a black background, with 4 icons in each corner of the screen(looks just like the icon that appears when u plug in the usb cable with USB debugging mode ON).
Volume-down+Power and BACK+Power don`t work anymore, even though I press them, the phone just simply ignores the keys and takes me back to the before mentioned hTC splash screen.
I know this is probably something I did wrong, but if there`s any one kind enough to help me out with this, I`d deeply appreciate it.
Thank you!

It doesn`t say anything.
This is what I do:
1. Take the battery out.
2. Put the battery back in place
3. Try turning phone on using: Volume-down+Power -> the phone doesn`t show anything, it simply takes me to the HTC logo(white HTC logo on black background. It does the same thing if I turn it on using BACK+Power)
If I try running the RUU again, the installer gives me the next message: Error[152]: image update error.
From what I`ve read, this is a radio error which can only be fixed by hTC. Could that be true?
Also, after the RUU gives me the above error, if I unplug the USB cable, the phone shows following:
*************
RUU
Radio_V2 - OK
Splash1 - OK
Recovery - OK
Splash2 - OK
Radio_cust - OK
Bootloader - Bypassed
Userdata - OK
System - Fail-PU
Boot - OK

even if it is its covered by htc warranty so don't worry about it
I don`t think it coveres it, as the Alpharev CM7 R2 bootloader still shows.

oh you're still S-OFF?
You're automatically in fastboot when you turn on since your phone is like that so just turn it on, plug it in first flash this and then flash this, Then run the RUU again.
Yes, I`m still S-OFF.
How do I flash them if I can`t access recovery using Volume-down+Power or BACK+Power?
I`ve downloaded the first one, renamed it into PB99IMG.zip, put it on root of SD CARD, turned phone ON and it takes me to the same htc logo screen as before.
LE
Tried with Android Flasher, but it gets stuck when trying to flash the bravo_alphaspl.img that u`ve given me.
So basically, I can`t enter Clockworkmod, I can`t enter the bootloader menu by turning on phone usine Volume-down+Power / Back+Power, and the phone is stuck in the HTC logo, while still S-OFF-ed, also the 2.3.3 official RUU gives me the error at the end of the installing process.
Does anyone have any idea what I could do?

I have the exact same problem as i_cs_u.
I tried to use an RUU to install 2.3, I have alpharev cm7r2 installed and I get stack on the same step as i_cs_u. I successfully flashed bravo_alphaspl.img with "fastboot boot bravo_alphaspl.img", but which partition do I flash bravo_downgrade.img to?
Flash bravo_downgrade.img and then the RUU.

He probably figured out that he has to use the fastboot flash boot *name of img* command or Android Flasher on that screen with the 4 ! At the corner instead of renaming to PB99IMG and attempting to flash it on the phone.

[Q] Phone Freezing At Droid Eye And AThen Bootloops

So i was running a miui rom and did a clean wipe to try and a new rom. I couldn't get past the boot screen of the rom so i figured it was just a bad download. so i went and unrooted the phone. i have Hboot .92 thew radio is 2.15.10.07.07. i have the phone to s-on. i downloaded and installed the stock verizon gingerbread rom by renaming it to th P whatever lol. the reboots gets to the incredible screen then goes the htc quetly brilliant screen then it does the droid sound and i get the red snapdragon logos. but when it get's to the droid eye after it circle goes back and forth once then freezes on the second one. it sits there for like 3 or 4 minutes and then it just reboots to the droid sound and snapdrogon screen then the droid eye and stops and just keeps repeating this. i am hoping someone on might have a cure for this. the only thing i can get into iss hboot. hoping it's not fried. thanks for your time. and sorry for the long post, just trying to be very detailed to get the right help.

Have you tried doing a factory reset from hboot, and then reflashing the ruu (PB31IMG.zip file) thru hboot again. Also why did you go s-on, just makes it way harder to reroot or fix issues like these? The only reason anyone should ever go s-on is if you need to return it to verizon under warranty.
the reason for s-on is because i was selling it and the new owner just wanted it stock. they know nothing about rooting or any of this kinda stuff. i do believe i tried the factory reset but i will give it a go again.
so i believe i have found the problem. and doing some research it's my own fault. i am still on the .07.07 radio baseband and i found out that i should have downgraded before getting s-on. now i don't know if i can fix this problem or did i just ruin my phone. hoping for some good news. thanks

Im pretty sure you have to downgrade the radio to get s-on. As in it wont work to get you s-on if your not on the right radio. Are you sure you didnt downgrade and doing the ruu just upgraded it again?
I would try doing the latest ruu.exe with a pc, instead of PB31IMG.zip.
i would love to but the pc will not read the phone because it just boot loops.

Have you installed the phone drivers on your pc?
i have installed everything that i can to try and get this phone working. hboot comes comes up on the phone just fine and i can get to fastboot on the phone. when i go to recovery from fastboot it goes to the green triangle then it turns red. i do the volume and power to get to recovery but when it comes up i get a bunch of error messages. and am at a lost with this. all i know is i don't think it is bricked because i can get to hboot. when i try to install another pB file from hboot it either does not do anything or it tells me it failed because it was an older version. i am pretty sure it is a software problem i just can't figure it out.

Download the 2.3 ruu from my sig. Do not rename the zip.
Take it, and put it on the root of your sd-card, like... Outside any folder.
Then, boot in hboot. You should be prompted to update. Select yes, then post the results.

It's a radio brick. Your baseband somehow got corrupted. There are three methods of solving this:
1. Change your phone.
2. Go to a gsm service for a fix
3. Endlessly flash RUUs and hope that one of them will eventually succeed. (About 1/1000 chance of that happening)
I see that i need S-OFF but i even can't login to my phone.
"PREREQUISITES :
a ROOTed HTC Desire ROM with debugging option enabled on it."
I reflowed phone. Now Radio is OK but its trying to login HTC logo and vibrates...
