Just wondering cause I seen my friend with his CM7 root and loved it. I've been researching for a couple of days now including reading the wiki but want a clear cut choice from someone who has rooted and I want to make sure I use the newest safest method.
I followed the Wiki http://forum.xda-developers.com/wiki/index.php?title=HTC_Vision#Rooting_the_Vision_.28G2.2FDZ.29_and_DHD on this site about a week ago and it worked for me. Wasn't too hard but you should follow the instructions to the letter. Read and re-read and then make sure you have the ability to do all the steps before you actually start. There is nothing scarier than watching your phone get stuck in a boot and thinking you have bricked it!
Having said that, I'm running CM 7 RC2 now and it's made my phone so much better.
And if you don't have ADB, this was helpful: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865685
I see nothing you developed in this thread dude...do you not know what Q&A means????? Just in case its questions and answers. Sorry for being harsh but this **** is so easy to avoid you kind of deserve it

Was also looking for an all in one guide but no luck. They have it on Desire HD it was so simple and easy to follow. the wiki was fine though. If you found one hope you could share it. I'm not even sure if I missed something.
How did he post here with only 8 posts??
Thanks Tangiers for the info but to Spastic 909 thank you for being useless dude I asked for advice in the wrong spot sorry. I wonder if I had posted in the right spot if you would have even posted anything I'm guessing not. +1 for the Troll then I guess.
You are welcome. Good luck and don't be put off by it looking complicated. I am no expert but managed to do it without any problems.
And once you have root, a whole new world of fun opens!

I have been reading the forums for some time now in hopes to someday root one my phones. I started reading about a year ago and finally rooted last week.
Root went great then yesterday I flashed my first Rom and oh crap anything and everything went wrong because I missed one step. Now what??? Read Read Read.
After a lot of reading I found my answers and fixed my phone, I couldn't of done it without you so Thank You for all the walk throughs tips and guides.
Successfully running CyanogenMod on my T-Mobile G2x Rooted with Super One Click.
Again BIG THANK YOU TO EVERYONE!!!
You are so welcome
You waited a year before taking the plunge, and you still messed up?? No offense. I just find that rather odd. Not saying anything so don't be mad. We all make mistakes. Take care. =)
I too want to say thanks to all you great gents& Ladies her for your time & patience with this old broad. I haven't been on here for very long but I find that I am way out of my league with you bunch. In a lot of cases trying to read what you reply of post is like trying to read Greek & I can barley read Enlish & I am a Canuck. I have loved my Streak but as I rarely use it anymore for anything more than a phone & the problems it has given me, I have put my sim & SD cards back into my BB and will just use it in my latter years. I may upgrade to a Galaxy but I don't know just now. So anyway I have put the Streak up for sale here in the to sell forum as well as the accesories forum & next week or so I will put it on Ebay, Kikijji or Craigslist. Again thanks for all the advice I have placed this forum into my favorites so I have a place to come to if I need expert electronic advice. Cheers Angela aka fysty-1 Dodds.

We all now enjoy our devices and most of the tutorials that come with any of the processes are very easy to follow

I would also like to echo my thanks to this site, to everyone behind it and all the contributors and wealth of knowledge that is assembled here. After finally having enough with VZW, I unlocked and rooted my GNEX and it's been absolutely wonderful! THANKS!
Welcome in guys!
I see you have decided to step out of lurking and perhaps become part of the community, that is very noble cause indeed.
Feel free to roam the forums you guys frequent and help other members with questions or issues that you once had, this way we can help perpetuate the greatness of the forum and save developers' time answering things so they spend it developing.
That may be the best way to show your gratitude.
I too want to say Thank you to the xda community!
I've been here for many things, questions, ROM, some help.

Hi all,
I too wish to thank the forum's contributors, without them my phone would not be rooted etc...........still it can be a 'daunting task' wading thru the 'info', especially when one does not have any background in this stuff........I literally need step by step instructions....
A Big Thank yous
I would just like to drop in and say THANK YOU to the xda community as a whole.
i am not overly knowledgeable about these things. and the people here have been such a huge help.
originally all i wanted was to optimize my new tablet when i got it (acer a501) did a lot of reading and decided i wanted to root witch was easy... but i hit a snag wile flashing from one rom to another.
and the help flowed in. fast and helpful responses. while i was freaking out thinking i bricked my new toy, my helpers were calm and on point, and got me thru it. and they had no problem taking the time to teach me things that i asked about. now im helping people with simple problems so the experienced people can take on the big jobs......until i learn
so THANK YOU to the devs, cooks, and all the knowledgeable people that make up the best forum on the net.
THANK YOU!!!
I'm going to second this one. I don't usually do florid thank-you posts, but I really do appreciate the work going on here. xda gave my phone a second chance at life; WinMo sucked battery life and performance, but with GBX0B my phone feels like it's at least a year newer.
Thank this page and all people who are intetested in modding of Android

I want to say thanks as well. I discovered this site through a friend. I came here, read through on how to properly install rom and then downloaded a rom and it worked So yes I am on my way. I am not completely new to the Android world but when you deviate you tend to forget things. This site is bringing it all back to memory and helping me discover new things.
I would like also to show my appreciation to this forum and for the many people that support it and it's users.
It is been great on my side and greatly helpful.
I too would like to send out a HUGE thank you to all in the xda community for the compounding wealth of knowledge and experiences within.
It's taken me a little while to get where I am today, but like all things... persistance pays... but could definately not have gotten there without you all.
Thanks so much for all the help! This forum honestly made it really easy to start rooting and flashing. I remember getting my first android phone this year and boy was it difficult figuring out what everything meant at first... Thanks for keeping my G2x alive and well
I would like also to show my appreciation to this forum and for the many people that support it and it's users.
It is been great on my side and greatly helpful. GJ XDA
Thank you all at xda, You know that age old question what am I going to do with my life? Well mine got answered. I allways wanted to go to school for something with computers, i love how it works and I pick up on it very fast. Was thinking computer eng. but not anymore software eng. Thanks to playing with these roms and now I just want to make them myself. So as a first post I had to say thanks.
I want to join thanks. My knowledge of English is limited. but thanks to you, I have successfully mastered the rum and firmware. understandable and clear descriptions and instructions for the beginner.
in Russian forums (4pda.ru and et.setera.. ) all make a mess and difficult.
Online xda, with my poor knowledge of the language, I quickly figured out

I have been using opensource for ten years so getting answers on google and forums is a must sometimes.
I am very new to android and smartphones so naturally I had 1.5 million questions as I rooted, installed a custom rom, and installed my other high end useful apps. And I have yet to have to open a forum thread with a question.
Thank you
Ty CDs thanx to you all for helping root my nook my LG thrill and my HTC vivid

I have been working on learning to develop and give back to the community. I am currently working on a speedy port. It is my first attempt at a rom and could use some guidance. I don't want anyone to do it for me. Just to explain some things and point me in the right direction. Any dev's willing to help, I would be grateful.
It really isn't something we can just "tutor" you in a thread. You need to have a lot of programming background. Perhaps you should start by taking a few classes or reading a few books on the subject.

Thanks for the helpful posts. I have been working on different aspects of development for a while now. I have my port booting and usable for the most part. I need help figuring out what is wrong with it so I can start fixing it. I feel that there probably isn't that much wrong with it but I am not 100% sure. Also need to learn smali. Other than that, I am fairly knowledgeable in Linux in general.
