GB builds so far - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Making sure I remember them all.

Edit:
EF16(Not yet leaked, possibly final release)
Is that all of them?
Sent from my Epic 4G, awaiting official Gingerbread.

EF16 hasn't been leaked (yet?) but it should probably be on there since it seems like it may be the final.

I stand corrected...I probably started reading the posts after it was an understood joke to everyone who'd been following from the start

(q) no 2.3 for epic?

Sorry, but i don't understand why our Epic doesn't have Android 2.3 and my old HTC Touch Pro CDMA from Sprint does. Isn't that ridiculous?
We don't have the development community of the touch pro. They basically built gb from scratch we just don't have the manpower..
cd's or tapes?
That's verry sad.
This needs to go to the Q&A

agreed .......
It's because they use HARET, which more or less boots into Windows Mobile, then boots into Android(which gets GPS, data and stuff like that from the WinMO Haret boot)
Sorry, won't do it again.
in before the kick.
once the nexus 4g comes out we'll prolly have straight port.
Wer have gingerbread but it's not fully functional. Cm7. Tmiller also got a nexus s rom to boot on the epic. Still needs work tho. Just wait to sprint gets the nexus s. Big things will come

Because it's not like that has stopped any other device from already porting the Nexus S ROM. Sadly the above is true, Epic has no community. Most has left for the Shift, and even before that we barely had a community to start with.
I have a feeling that the Epic will get an offical Gingerbread from Sprint...
Wouldn't that be nice to have.

No, this needs to be closed, shot, smashed into a million pieces then burned.
agreed this thread is misleading from the title. and we are geting 2.3
Yea we,have CM7 which is Gingerbread in Alpha 4 so we will have it from the community before samsung decide to release it.

Hey guys back into rom using

Hey guys so I am back on here after skiming by once in a while to see wat was new but I a back now to try something new I've been stuck on stock rooted 2.2 I think cause I don't even kno what I have...ohh wait I have bonsai 4.0.1 I kind of gave up on bonsai cause both 4.1.3 and anything after 4.0.1 one left a bad taste in my mouth and really dnt want to try that again so pretty much I am on here to get bck in the trying out game and seeif anybody could recomend what's the badest ROM available now I would gladly apreciate it!!

Stability and battery life: srf
Cutting edge (decent battery from what I hear): the new gingerbread leak, don't think anybodys done anything with it yet though. If you want a gingerbread more customized try the era rom but I don't think its based on the newest leak.
Cd's or tapes?

Sent from my SPH-D700 using Tapatalk
Yeah that's exactly why I'm not really too excited about cm or miui. No way I'm giving up 4g I pay 10 extra a month for it, you know? And acs makes SRF and they do gingerbead stuff. A reliable group to go with. They have their own forums at acsyndicate.com.

Get rid of EL29 update notification?

I am running unnamed rom with steady hawkins stock pulled el29 kernel. I went through and changed all the "el13" references in build.prop to "el29" but that didn't work...any advice?

There is an answer to this in the UnNamed thread, have you tried it?
I just wish I got the notification...I've been waiting for it on my stock Epic 4G Touch...wish I could just push the update instead of waiting for Sprint to push it. Used to work like that on my HTC device...but Samsung phones do it other ways.

Why are you in such a hurry? It's not like the update makes our phones able to print money or anything like that. It'll come, and when it does you will wonder why you made such a big deal about it.

Cyanogen mod 7...

Been searching around the forums and can't seem to find any info.just wondering if there is a CM7 build for our phone. I figure 7 would be more stable and complete than 9 at this point considering it is still in alpha. Even cyanogen mods main site doesn't really acknowledge our variant on the galaxy s2.
Seems all GB roms are on 2.3.4, are there any on 2.3.7? I know there isn't much difference. My old backflip had this version and I was curious how it would run on E4GT.
And yes I have used the search button.
Edit:
Oh dear God I am an idiot. Posted this in dev.GAAAAAAAH. Rackin frackin tapatalk. Mods can you please move this to Q&A? Sorry sorry sorry!

Cyanogen 9 is actually more stable than cm7 just fyi, the cm7 dev moved on and the cm9 team fixed outstanding bugs that remain in the cm7 testing builds

I actually only use cm7 for the recovery. Which is probably why he is looking for it in the first place.
on a side note, please read the rules and post in the correct section.

You don't need cm7 rom to get safe recovery. All you need is the stock el26 center kernel

Everyone always says go EL 26. Why not stock rooted 29? Thought it was more stable than the leaked 26.

Let me know how that runs if you do manage to install it, I'm not very anxious to run CM9, AOSP, AOKP, or anything ICS untill we have source and can be built from the ground up rather than borrow from here and there. That CM7 is a really small file, just seems like it should run great on the phone. Thanks.

I was really asking about kernels in general. Seems like every ROM wants you to go back to 26 before doing anything. Just was wondering why not 29? What issues would arise from using 29 as a base vs. 26?

MIUI and WiMax

I'm trying to figure out, how does the Nexus S 4G on MIUI have WiMax but the Evo doesn't. Is it because no one is trying or is it because of something else??
GB version btw.

The Nexus S 4g only has WiMAX working on their MIUI v4 roms. I believe Scott helped with that. WiMAX is being worked on for the EVO 4g just have to give it time. Toast and Shinzul are working on WiMAX on ICS.
