Hi,
I just rooted my phone with the help of the noob proof guide and i must dat, i was a big help.
So now my phone is rooted, s-off, sdcard partitioned and backed-up.
But when i restarted, several apps were gone. Apps like Dolphin browser. I believe it has something to do with the sdcard. I have been using my phone for a while and used an app to force it to SD instead of my phone.
Also, i used to be able to go trough all my files on my phone with the Windows explorer. But now, all i can open is a map of the backup i made with clockworkrecovery.
I have astro manager on my phone and everything derks to be sake as before placewise.
Is there a way to access there apps, could've something gone drong when partitioning the sdcard or is it all lost, in wicgh case i just delete it all and reinstall all the apps ?
Regards,
Thomas

after any re-partioning SD files will be gone or corrupted
format your SD card again, then do a full wipe in recovery and either restore your backup or flash a new ROM
Okay, got it.
Thanks for the speedy answer.

My phone is debranded, rooted, has clockwork mod and the gold card. I have also flashed the phone with NexTSense 5.0 FroYo by NeoPhyTe.
Now, I went to applictaions, and tried to mave some apps to SD, however the button ("Move to SD") is grey and I am not able to mave any apps to SD.
I have been reading about partitions on SD, however I don't know if that is for moving apps to SD or some other function.
If anyone knows, could you please enlighten me please?
Also, if anyone know (I persume most of you do), what does Radio mean? I have searched "Radio on Android OS" however it seems to be and FM Radio, is that what it is supposed to be?!
Thank you for your time!
Hi !panda,
There's an app called app2sd on market. Also titanium backup. Your phone needs to be rooted I think. I've managed to move some hefty programs like earth to the SD with little if any gain in speed but at least some satisfaction. Good luck with that.

None of my apps will move to SD, same as you with the button being grey.

Also, Radio is sort of the image file for your phone wich handles the calls and data and such. some radios get better reception and make the phone run better overall.
For instance, my desire was getting trippy after i used a custom rom. I updated the radio and everythings fine now
You need to partition your SD card. Install rom manager from the market. You can use this to partition the card but it will wipe the card so backup the contents to your pc first. Partition with 512mb then 32mb swap. Copy your contents back to card. Then install either spare parts or modinstalllocation from the market, both allow you to choose where apps are installed and will open up apps2sd.

hi, sorry for the late reply..
even ROM Manager doews not work for me! I did the 512 and 32mb but now when I got to doing it in Applicatioins, the buttonis still grey and I can not press it,l I aslo got an app called SDMove however that only shows 3 apps, Titaniunm Backup, SetCPU and ROM Manager...
any other ideas??
I'm upgrading my SD card to a 16Gs one from my old 8Gs. Is there anyway I can get all the apps back and working if I move EVERYTHING exactly as it is to the new card? Or is Titanium Backup the only way? And IF Titanium Backup is the only way, I guess there's no use of moving the app folders as Titanium Backup does backup all the app settings and data? Right?
And also, do I need to partition my SD? Because all my apps seem to run fine on SD. Does partitioning make it faster?
Thanks! \m/
Just move it all. It'll be like you never changed SD cards.
You don't need to use Titanium Backup but to answer your question, yes it saves data too.
Partition your SD if you're gonna use Link2SD or A2SD. Apps in your partition can still be used even if you have connected your phone to pc via usb. I put all widgets on my partition so I can still use them even when it's not on my internal memory. No difference in speed of running apps but apps load faster at boot because you don't have to wait for media scanning to start/finish. And more internal memory too.
So 512MB of partition becomes the internal memory? And I do use Link2SD but it moves the apps to the external memory without the partition on my 8GB card. And the apps run just fine. So why do i need the partition for?
Confused.
Copy everythng frm your current card to pc... Isert new card... Remove it n copy back everythng in new card.... Datx it

Because when you move apps to SD not all files are moved, some of them are still taking space in your internal memory. When an app is linked all of it is moved.
And widgets don't work when you move them to SD so they're stuck in your internal memory taking up space. When it's in your partition it isn't, and widgets still work.

I use link2SD. So i guess everything is moved to the external. The widgets dont work though. So I guess partitioning is only to move widgets to SD so and apps stored in the partition load up on boot without requiring the media scan. Correct? Are there any other uses?
Even if you moved apps to SD with link2sd unless it's linked all it moves is the apk file. If it's linked dex, lib and apk files are moved.

Ive done the upgrade and the apps are working. But my back, menu and lock keys aren't working. What could've gone wrong? :/
Never encountered that before. Did you move any system apps?

Nope. Anyway, I've installed Hybrid 2.1 now. Keys are back to normal. Thanks for all your help. And by the way, I've to go the Titanium way because I had to factory reset my phone. And I have the Nandroid backup too. So if I reinstall from my Nandroid backup, will the key problem come back again? Because that was taken when I had the problem.

Hi
I have just partitioned my sd card through recovery mode, and when it rebooted, all my apps had gone, the icons are still there though. How can I get these back? Also my photos etc. I didnt backup the SD card properly, so cannot get them from a backup
Thanks in advance
when you say "I didnt backup the SD card properly", does this mean you didn't back it up at all?
partitioning wipes the sd card, so if you don't have a backup of it, then all your photos will be gone unfortunately. there's not much we can do to recover these. i'm guessing some of your apps were manually moved to sd card, which is why some of them have disappeared as well.
which recovery were you using? clockworkmod recovery for desire doesn't make the best partitions, also uninstall rom manager if you were using it. i would recommend repartitioning your sd card with 4ext recovery (requires s-off) or gparted, search for guides.
then reinstall your apps which don't appear through google play. if you're lucky the app data should still be saved, so things like game saves etc will still be there.
you also have to make sure you're actually using the new partition. i don't know which custom rom you're using if any? it may have an a2sd script built in, so when you reinstall apps they'll go to the ext partition. otherwise you may need to use terminal commands to activate it, or flash a separate script. check and search the rom thread...use another app like 'diskusage' to browse your partitions.
Thanks for your reply

I tried using a file recovery program, but could only recover a few files, is there no way I can recover files from a formatted card?

Once information is deleted, you cannot recover it all back.
I have unlock the bootloader, rooted the phone, and installed custom recovery following this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2201148
still running stock rom at the moment.
I installed Titanium Backup Pro, and wanted to move some apps that I don't use often to SD card, but cannot find the option from Titanium menu anymore.
What I found out is that Titanium uses the external directory "sd-ext/app" for moving the apps from internal to external memory.
However, my current SD card is mounted as ext_card and also sdcard1?? I don't know why both of these directories point to the same location, is it something that Sony assigns? or is it how Android is configured right now?
Anyhow, I just want to know if simply renaming the folder ext_card to sd-ext would work?
If not, how can I remount the sd card as sd-ext without affecting other things that are already linked to it?
Thanks.
edit: admin, please move to the appropriate section.
found a work-around.
Just use root browser to create a short cut of "sdcard1", then rename it to sd-ext.
that's it!

I've been trying and trying and TRYING to accomplish your solution, yet I'm not able to modify any files or folders in the internal storage. When I try to do so by any means, my device freezes the app trying to create new files (in this case Root Browser, but it happens with anything else like ES Browser, apps, desktop applications, etc).
I just CAN'T write to the internal storage even if my device is rooted. I've tried to solve this but I just CAN'T. I don't know what else to do.
Any help is appreciated beforehand
THANKS!!
After flashing different Android 4.2 roms on her DHD, my friend is seemingly unable to install most apps and seemingly have no access to the SD card. I told her to use the repartition of the SD card function in CWM after flashing the first rom she tried, since she was stuck in the HTC boot screen. After having flashed the boot.rom file so that the OS now actually boots, something still seems seriously wrong after that repartition.
I don't know if apps actually require an SD card to function, but whenever she tries to install for example Tango, it says that the app already is installed on her phone. The reason why i suspect the OS not having access to the SD card is because the ext folders or whatever that supposedly are supposed to appear on the SD card when you install a new rom never appeared. There's nothing on it except the zip containing the new OS.
I can't find any solutions to this for this specific phone, and the information about this that i found in other topics i don't really understand.
Can someone please help us figure out what's wrong with her phone? It worked fine before in Android 2.3.
Do you have access to another SD card?

Hmm, no i don't think she has. But it worked before the CWM repartition, so something should make it work again.
Your first mistake was partitioning the sd card. Thats a waste of time and a headache waiting to happen. Remove sd and see if you can boot phone into recovery. If so format sd on computer do not partition then remount sd. You jave to also reflash rom.
Many people have been having issues with cmw. My suggestion is move on up to 4ext recovery. And stay away from rom manager its garbage.
Good luck

Thanks, that did solve the problem with the SD card. The folders were properly created when she flashed the rom once more.
The problem however still presists with apps; the play store says that they're already installed.
Try clearing play store history in play store settings see if that resolves it.
Edit: Also in memu>app manager try clearing rhe playstore data. It will open as tgo it was never opened and ask to accept terms and agree.
