Phone colour

I got my Desire from Handtec and the colour is supposed to be graphite.
However, the area around the screen is almost purple in colour, especially in sunlight.
Is this normal??

Sounds like you've got what others call 'Urban Brown' - all the colours seem to be the same tbh!! lol
Does you box actually say 'Graphite'? Mine, unlocked from CPW, just has 'HTC Desire A8181' on the box...

Mine also says A8181.
Is your device particularly pinky/purply?

Yes, mine is the same as the above!
Good news.... but this isn't really graphite is it... HTC seem to love their pink all of a sudden (AMOLED, screen bevel...)

Same here guys. Bought the so called 'graphite' one off clove.co.uk but compared to a picture of a graphite one mine really does look brown. Loving the phone so not a problem and won't return it but it's false advertising!

I'm waiting for a silicone case for mine. it'll cover it then. It's not really a problem to me but I wouldn't have used the word graphite to describe the colour...

What case did you get? FlexiShield by any chance?

new evo4g tomorrow

Picking up my new Evo in morning and will be rooting with urevoked by afternoon
just wondering on some thought from others...
I am looking at 2 diff roms right now, any thoughts on which is better on battery life and still has some stock apps (nascar,football,footprints,voicemail) dont want the others like amazon etc
1.fresh evo
2.supersonic
or any others that can be recommended to me

also, wait a few weeks before you root it, just to make sure there are no manufacturing defects. since the device has almost no moving parts, if something is going to break, it will most likely break in the first few weeks of owning it

Well going on one week and all is great
Had it rooted same day I got it and loaded up (rom etc in signature)
Evo4g is like the big badass brother of my old droid incredible....

I'm using the latest Fresh, that I stripped Sense out of completely. Tossed the Matted Blues theme on top of it and it's friggin awesome.
lol the placement of the sun on your clock widget makes it look like your evil skull has a bright yellow clown nose.

If you could get a new phone

I currently have a DHD, but as Three UK have decommissioned the mast in my area I can cancel contract early. I like this phone but was wondering what others would get as an alternative....
Any thoughts.

It has an amazing development community which I would not give up for something new that's still locked. But if Sensation didn't have a signed bootloader I would like to get that as a extra phone.

yeah... DHD its one of the sex-simbols of android now....
Still there stays much that to develop and to enjoy with our DHD..
AND IT MAKES MY HAPPY
THE problem of the htc sensation it´s like error22 says... "its still too clossed"

I appreciate and understand the bias. I here good things of the Galaxy2 though...

If You are into rooting Your phone and putting custom ROMs, don´t even think about Samsung phone. There are much more developers that work on HTC models...

Wait for a dual core & display tipe amoled or similar... Htc device of course.... And minimal 4'3"... And of course wait for to confirmate that its rootable and fully customizable

[Q] Initial boot screen replacement?

Is there any way to replace that blindingly white screen with the green HTC logo, when you first turn on the phone? I know a lot of roms have custom loading screens to replace the droid eye/flashing system specs screen.

Same here, just saw his sig too (for all I know he could have had that since he joined, I usually use the app and when I'm on the site I never look at sigs :silly: ), I love it, now I want one

Black HTC ICS Blue Splash Screens

Inspired by gersto's Black HTC Bootscreen/Bootanimation thread
I basically just changed the HTC font to ICS blue instead of the company color green.
The image was sharper/cripser...but when I resized to 480x800 it blurred.
Maybe i'll get it sorted out, but as for now, it doesn't look bad on the phone.
Instructions: Rename to PG32IMG.zip. Place on root of SD card. Start phone by holding power button and volume down at the same time. When it prompts to update, volume up for yes and then power button to reboot.

Very cool. I got my hands on an inc2 my company retired. I may load this one after I root it. Still miss using the inc2. If it only had 4g I'd switch back from my dinc4g. Not as good as I had hoped, and nowhere near as much dev love.
