So, I've seen that LWP aren't exactly "smooth", but that got me thinking.
I don't need interactivity in my wallpapers, I just want them to move
So I tried setting a .gif as a wallpaper, but it doesn't move past the first image.
So the questions is: How can you set a .gif as a wallpaper (so that it moves)
You cant

Are you asking about the wallpaper scrolling between homescreens. If yes, GIF wallpapers also scroll.
And the color quality of GIF will be low.

No he wants moving wallpaper (with animations) but not "live", in other words he wants to put animation as his wp, so it moves, but you cant interact with it.

There was an app that did this. It created an "Empty Livewallpaper" and allowed you to put your animated GIF in it, essentially doing what you are looking for. However, it seems to have been pulled from the market. (Obviously, the reviews were not that good)
It's the closest I can think of. More details here:

Wally removed
well wally was removed from market but i found an app called animGIF livewallpaper 2 but, unfortunately you need live wallpaper support so if your looking not for interactiveness on custom roms but just for the looks of a gif id suggest getting that and getting a live wallpaper compatible rom.

Yo!
Can I set diffrent, one, wallpeper for each desktops or one wallpaper for all desktop, without 'scrolling wallpaper'?
PS. I using CyanogenMod 4.2.1
I have not seen any way to do that, I think the code is written using the wallpaper spread out and then using the num of windows split between it but a single reference to the background
Hope I'm wrong but thats what it seems to me.
I google something interesing "You can set 320x480 wallpaper by app 'Wallpeper Set & Save', free from market, after it, it will be not scrollable.". So I can set one wallpaper, not scrollable.
Oh ok, I'll give that a try, I'm kind of interested in how it would work too.
Thanks!
i use an app called wallpaper plus you can set either one image for all the walls without the wallpaper moving or group each wallpaper to a diff wall if you like.
here's a demo video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NgZL2zhL2d8
Anyone notice that there is no lockscreen wallpaper? You only have a homescreen wallpaper.
I cannot find any place to set a separate lockscreen wallpaper.

the lockscreen wallpaper is the same as the homescreen wallpaper, I was unaware you could change it.
You could have different wallpapers on hero 1.5 and 2.1

yeah what is the deal with that????
It appears to just be a design decision...while it was nice to have it seperate before, I was not aware that you could have your live wallpapers on your lockscreen before either, but you can now. *shrugs*
Personally, I like it.

IMO, I don't. You use to be able to take a picture of something and save it as your lockscreen. It would all display. Now the lockscreen only shows part of the stretched wallpaper.
Sad they made this change. A step backwards if you ask me.
It's crazy!
It's the same on the HTC Desire of course. I agree with you, it's crazy, why would they leave out something like that?
Does anyone know a way modifying system files to bring this option back?
Thanks,
HRH
Any scrolling wallpaper app with slideshow feature?
So it could display highest quality scrolling wallpapers without reducing, or cropping, but also could auto change the wallpapers every X minutes or hours?
Are you talking about something like the HOX? When you change from a main screen to another the wallpaper scroll a bit, is that what you're talking about?
I do not own HOX, but scrolling wallpaper - we already have that on SGS3, just we set 1 photo for it to show.
What i want is to auto change the wallpapers, so I select a folder with wallpapers and it does the job
wallpaper changer on playstore do the job

Hi thanks so much for the app, I love this wallpaper changer!
There is a Thanks button for that
Multipicture live wallpaper is the best I have seen, you can set it so a different wallpaper comes up on every home screen, and you can chose set pictures for 1 home screen and cycle through a folder for the others! They cross fade into each other which looks great as well

Scrolling wallpaper feature is useless if you want to have different wallpaper on each screen
I used to have a wallpaper app on my Evo that allowed me to use wallpapers without having to crop them the way the stock wallpaper app does. It was called wallpaper plus but is no longer available. Does anyone know of an app like this?
I'm not looking for an app that downloads wallpapers, only that allows me to crop them the way I need or not crop them at all.
Thanks!!
It's not the size of your toys, its what you do with them that matters!!!
i use wallpaper wizardrii. not perfect, but has quite a few options

As long as it allows me to use wallpapers I download from the web or transfer from my Mac or PC. I don't understand why Android makes you crop just a small portion of the image. The Wallpaper Plus app I had allowed me to crop it so that it fit right without having to be enlarged and pixelated. I'll give the one you mention a try and see what happens. Thanks for the suggestion
What I've been using since I got my Acer a500 last year is multi picture live wallpaper. It allows you to use 1 or multiple wallpapers and uses them in actual size. It uses minimal battery and is buttery smooth.
Good afternoon guys and girls who own this beautiful sexy phone! I have some problems with our device regarding the wallpapers. How do i put 720x1280 wallpaper that i download to be on fullscreen on our phone? Whenever i try to set as wallpaper it takes only a portion of the hd wallpaper and zooms and it looks like ****. If you did not understand what i mean i will try to explain better. Thanks mates!
You can use the app called "Crop wallpaper" from Google Play Store. We all know what You are talking about 'cause we all suffer this problem.

Homscreen wallpapers have to be 1440x1280. While lockscreen wallpapers are 720x1280.
On the other hand, there are 3rd party apps that let you use 720x1280 as homescreen wallaper without any cropping. I dont know the app but a similar topic was discussed here on xda before.
