steps will be gr8...
A typical use of HTC Streaming Media Player would be: e.g. you're browsing through www.youtube.com (or redirected to m.youtube.com) with PIE. When you click on any video image icon there, PIE will automatically start SMP, and you will be able to watch the selected video file on its window, without the need to download it to your mobile device. You could watch it fullscreen too.
Just my 2 cents...
Cheers!

I'm using the Internet Explorer on my WM5 Artemis, and when i go to www.m.youtube.com and click on a video, it just opens in Streaming Media app works well!
is the "m" in the web address important? Cause I have never heard of this type of address.
Streaming
It also works very good on my exec using 3G connection, Youtube I mean, but in full screen mode picture is agly enough of cause. After Stop it comes back slowly.

rtsp://link
I don't now if this tread is dead, but I will post anyway.
I use the rtsp:// for connecting to live streaming cameras.
I have one at my house that will email me if someone rings the door bell or the alarm goes off.
I can then connect to the camera thru a web browser if i'm at my computer, and talk to them thru the camera. If i'm out and about i can stream to the camera with my htc. I can even here what they are saying if there talking. THe camera i'm using is a VIVOTEK IP7151, http://www.vivotek.com/products/cameras/network_camera_ip7151.html
THere is a link for a live demo. If you connect with your phone the link would be rtsp://60.248.39.146/live.sdp or
rtsp://60.248.39.151/live.sdp or
rtsp://60.248.38.147/live.sdp
Sometimes there on, you might have to connect 2 or 3 times.
I've never managed to get anything from Youtube to work on it. Maybe it's a O2 thing.

First of all thank you guys for such a great apps environment you created for our lazy WM platform.
Second of all I hope I am posting my request in the right place. Could someone start developing an application similar in functions with AirVideo for iphone. Its a basic app with a server(PC) - client(device) side that allows you to play on the phone any video stored on the PC (and any other storage media connected to the PC) without having to actually transfer the video on the device itself.
For more info please check : http://www.inmethod.com/air-video/index.html
It would be amazing if someone could achieve this. I would gladlly pay for such an app as I oftenly like to review my video courses I have stored on my PC from the convenience of my phone.
PS: I gave up the iphone platform 6 months ago and I am so much happier with my HD2.

Try orb. i use it on my HD2 and it works great. There's no need for a client app either! Just a browser (built in IE will do).
10x for the suggestion, I wasn't aware of this software.
Does it provide access to my content through my wireless router (under a local connection - PC and phone using the same WIFI) or do I have to stream everything through my broadband and their online servers?
All you need for airvideo is that the phone and the pc are connected to the same WIFI. All the streaming is done using the local connection which is good for privacy and there is also the option to convert a video file on the fly.
This sort of functionality I would like on the windows mobile platform if a developer would like to give it a go.

Orb basically turns your PC into a media server. You just use whatever means you want to connect to your PC. I have a use one of those services that gives your PC a name, and I just connect to it via that, so I can do it via my internet connection if I want to, or connect via wifi and use the local IP address (192.168.x.x) to connect that way, but I don't tend to do that much, as I'm obviously in range of my PC if I'm in range of the router
Orb gives you access to specified folders on your PC, and all the media within them. It does images, video and music, so it really is a great addition to any device.
the video tells all about this product and shows how great that it does work. its overall very snappy and you couldnt ask for more than what the seagate offers. at the time of the video they were on sale through seagates website for 34.99 and are now priced at 39.99. They can be found here:

I don't need it because I know a way to use the wifi network to share your media libraries and stream the media to your phone. It's way better. I also can do it through Bluetooth.
So it can access the files anywhere? Cause this would be awesome to use with my Epic. I got alot of videos and music on my laptop. So if I was on my 3G network, I can wirless stream my music and videos?
No, wifi and Bluetooth only.

Sent from my HERO200 using XDA App
and forgot to mention in the desktop dversion of pogoplug you can check an option to have your ps3 and your xbox 360 discover the music and videos and whatever else you may have on your external/s
How exactly does it work? Is there a server?

It works as a virtual drive. I have one and it is very useful in the house since I dont have to connect my hardrive to anything in order to access it. another useful thing i do with is transfer files...my brother has the password to it so he downloaded the desktop plugin. Now whenever we want to show each other a movie or song...we just copy and paste the file onto the virtual drive like we would a folder on our computer and we have full access to the newly uploaded content...
the only draw back is in playback of your movies and music when not on the same network...it takes a while to load, and you have to deal with constant buffering.

I have this folder called "JON-PC: Jon" in my Gallery app and I believe its due to my computer's file sharing service and is visible via wifi. There are no content in it and it's just a black square on the album gallery screen on the top left corner. Whenever I try to open this folder it says "Contents location is not available. Check network status and connected device."
How can I remove this folder? I have all sharing media service disabled.
anyone?

Assuming Windows 7. You need to turn off media streaming in your advanced sharing settings.

Good point. OP, I've noticed this before in my S3 Gallery app when I've got my laptop turned on (and connected to the same wifi). I'm running Windows 7, so this is probably it. I don't see it very often, though, since I rarely use my laptop anymore. Between my S3 and Nexus 7, my laptop isn't that useful for everyday purposes.

Have to agree with that. Even with just an S3 + Desktop, my MacBook isn't seeing nearly as much use. Almost tempted to sell it and replace it with a Nexus 7, but worried that a 7" screen won't be all that much bigger than the huge S3 screen.
I'm not sure this is what you are looking for, but in gallery, hit menu> view by> content in device.

I've got the same problem. It's not a big deal but it bugs me for some reason.
I am able to watch certain videos on my computer but when I try to watch some of the same videos(same link) on my phone that is connected to WiFi which the same internet my pc is using and it says The uploader has not made this video available in your country. I don't understand why it would work on my pc but not on my phone...any ideas why?
