Hello developers! I am putting together a team of developers to help on a app that will make NFC use easier for everyone. My idea was that the application will let users scan NFC tags within the application, and be able to create tags. The tags that users create can be used to share contact info and etc. Please feel free to email me at [email protected] if you have any questions. I dont have a lot of experience in android coding, but I really think this app would help NFC move forward!
UPDATE: I made a project on Google Project Hosting. Heres the link, feel free to join the project!
http://code.google.com/p/nfc-for-and...g-tags-easier/
Target Devices:
Samsung Nexus S/4g
Samsung Galaxy S2
Your link is broken. Also, what is NFC?
Sorry about the broken link
Heres the Google Project Hosting link: http://code.google.com/p/nfc-for-android-making-tags-easier/
NFC is a chip that transfers data using very low power, but is a short range transfer. NFC stands for Near Field Communication and can be found on the recent Samsung Nexus S/4G and the Samsung Galaxy S 2.
I really dont mean to rain on your parade -- NFC is great, but Google is in the proccess of building that exact functionality for Ice Cream Sandwhich.

Yes, but a community built application may bring more to the table. Plus, this application could have features packed in like chat, data transfer, contact share! I really need to talk to a NFC android developer so if you know any please tell them to talk to me.

Hi all, I'm a Singaporean developer and I'm here to tell you that I'm sick of idiots posting/bragging their daily life on Facebook, I mean, if you want to do that, why not do it so that I can ACTUALLY use that information next time? Thankfully, I'm a developer and I can actually do something about it.
WHAT IF, those stupid FOOD pictures taken at the restaurant actually POP UP the next time I am hungry and near that area? WHAT IF those slutty clubbing pictures could actually help me pick a club when I want to go? So here's my solution.
Spawt is a location-based experience bookmarking service so now you could actually point those idiots to the app and actually end up building a beautiful scrapbook of experiences that you and your friends can mutually share and discover.
Features
- Bookmark a great experience by creating a Checkpoint.
- Contextually discover interesting experiences from fellow Spawtters based on your current location.
* Spawt believes that your friends' experiences matter more, so your Facebook friends' Checkpoints will be treated as first class citizens.
- Builds a catalog of Checkpoints that will serve as a scrapbook of experiences for when you need an inspiration on what to do next.
- No need to create a whole new social network, leverages your existing Facebook network.
* Note, we send NOTHING back to Facebook, your privacy is MY topmost concern. (I should know, I'm a Facebook cynic.)
Download the app and tell me what you make of it, and most importantly how I can go on making it better for you and your friends. Search for "Spawt Beta" or get it here: https://play.google.com/store/apps/...result#?t=W251bGwsMSwxLDEsImNvbS5jdHJsZWZmIl0.
PS: Oh did I mention Galaxy S2 kicks ass?
PSS: Oh also, if the app does crash, and it will, please click Report so I can fix it so you can swear a little bit less when the next update comes.
This is a seriously fantastic idea. One think that may be a good idea to add would be to be able to use pictures from your gallery, rather than your camera, when making a new checkpoint. I'm really loving the GUI, thank you !

thanks for trying out the app! definitely a feature in the backlog.
I'm looking for a few project apps that developers may have abandoned or moved on from. If you have code laying around and don't mind someone else taking the reigns, please PM me. I'll be happy to take it over and give it a second life.
I'm not bored, development is my hobby, but if you want, you may continue my work on the barcode scanner (see my signature).
I can add you to the project contributors or owners, but please proof what you really like to work on this project first.
You could try to make some kind of call reminder or continue with haret project, if developers agrees. Just a thought
Hmm, that barcode scanner is intriguing. I'm working on an app for good reads and being able to scan barcodes would be nice, the only downside being is the app i'm writing is for marketplace ingestion, is there a branch that doesn't use undocumented apis to achieve barcode scanning support?
It was developed a long time ago; and official camera API was closed at that moment. Now you may (if you really want to) refactor the app to use official API. By the way, I still don't understand what you are trying to achieve. You just want to reuse someones code for your own commercial project?
Not doing any commercial projects, I just want whatever I pickup and run with to be able to be on marketplace for all to see, not just rooted devices.
There is a lot of "Abandonware" on the marketplace that could see new life with some cleanup for proper tombstoning, mango support, new controls, tuning and some refreshing. I was just wondering if any devs had any such apps.
Obviously I wouldn't take something and commercialize it, never my goal. I try and open source it if at all possible on github or codeplex.
I would definitely be interested in re-factoring the app to use camera API, I think that would be a fun project to Segway into my goodreads app where I want to be able to manage books/libraries by barcode scanning as well
So, what the problem? If you are really like to improve that project on the open source principles - just go ahead and let me know But... Barcode recognition now included to the WP7 bits (and it works pretty well) so you need to do something special...

Take a look at the ZXing barcode scanning library. It supports many barcodes.
Here you'll find a implementation to read QR codes on WP7. In the original blogpost you will find ways to properly enable other barcode types.
This library/control will pass Marketplace certification. (I have a App in the Marketplace that uses this library/control)
Hello.
Recently I made a remote control solution which can control your Android-based phone on PC. Server runs on Windows-based PC only for now. (Server is based on MFC) Client(Your phone) should able to get root permission.
We verified this solution works on Galaxy S, Galaxy S2, Galaxy Note. But not yet tested on the other devices due to lack of devices.
If you have interests controlling your phone on PC, please check this out and leave us feedback. If you are willing to make this project better, feel free contact to us. Remoteroid will get better than ever, with your supports and contribution.
Project site:
- Since I'm new user to XDA, I can't leave URL for project page.
just google 'remoteroid'! (remoteroid on Google Code)
Brief build instructions (For client):
Checkout both 'ActionbarSherlockLib' and 'android' into your workspace, make sure Android 4.0.3 System image exists on your system and latest ADT has installed.
Once all prerequisites are fulfilled, just press 'Run' button on Eclipse to install Remoteroid on your phone.
Please test on Galaxy Nexus for us. If not working I will request this thread be taken down.
Thank You.
Bro, your post should be in the Android Apps and Games or Android Software Development. There is nothing Galaxy Nexus specific in your product or post.
Hello XDA users! (posted in this Forum as this relates to use of an Accessory (Dock's))
Together with several App Developers we (iBOLT) are starting a petition today that we will attempt to deliver to Andy Rubin in about two weeks. The purpose is to ask the Android Dev Team NOT to remove the support to auto launch an app (through a car/home dock or NFC tag) and have this app be your new "home screen" until the handset is removed from the NFC tag or the Dock itself. See details and sign this petition if you agree on http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/dock/
Here's the link to the "issue" raised on the Android Alliance project platform
Here's the link to the 4.2 source code. See line 4361/2 "void startDockOrHome() {
// We don't have dock home anymore. Home is home. If you lived here, you'd be home by now.
Why should Android remove a key feature? Having a "driving screen" app like CarHome Ultra or Ulysse Speedometer/Dashboard is a terrific feature and going forward, a distinct advantage for the Android platform.
Please help us by re-posting the above petition link to other user forums around the world and help us bring this to the Android Dev Team's attention so they put the couple of lines of codes back in again required to support "home button" feature!
Please also make comments and keep the discussion going so that this thread is seen by many!
Interesting. What's their reason for stopping support for that?
Signed.
Why would they remove that functionality? Crazy.

Hello everybody,
We are a two member team with an application idea that we think could be useful for a lot of people. We have a list of features and a complete UI design plan. A video showing the features is also being created.
The application is intended to handle the notifications in a smarter way. To achieve that, we need a Google Chrome extension also. (Please notify us in your e-mail, whether you have already experience in developing Chrome extensions!).
With a simple and easy to use interface, this app is only intended for doing a few things, but doing those efficiently and fast.
We do not have a business, or any money. Our payment for a developer would be a % cut of the revenues, or we could try crowdfunding the idea. If it works out, we could partner up for future projects too, because we have an another app idea also (it is significantly bigger and much harder to make).
If you are interested in more details and UI design pictures, PM, or send an email to [email protected]
Please only write if you think that this idea has potential. If you have previous experience from developing an app, please include a link of that in your message.
Thank you!
