How to get back to Orange branded ROM? - Desire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have branded DHD from Orange PL. Currently I run MIUI but want to get back to the Orange ROM. I changed CID to ORANGB10 and S-OFF to S-ON but now looking for RUU Orange PL. Asked google and found nothing. Does anybody have a clue where to look for it?
What about simlock? How to relock the phone? I have partition7 backup that supposed to contain such data?

Here is the location of the RUU, I have done the same, as my phone needed to be sent back for repairs:
http://iloveabath.co.uk/index.php?dir=RUUs
Just install it whilst the phone is plugged in USB, on charge mode. Then I used http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=857537, and reversed the process, locking the SIM in the process.
Hope this helps

Hi guys, just looking for a quick bit of advice. I'm currently on the stock orange rom, which is frankly terrible - i'm looking to put it onto the stock HTC rom (ie no orange bloatware). Im fairly confident I know how to do this (goldcard + roll the rom back to 1.32.405.6 then just run OTA)...but my question is how to get it back to orange, should I need to. I've just finished downloading the orange rom from the link above (thanks, aliveanddead!) - will it just be as simple as running the exe? Or am I missing something...

Pretty much the same method. I had to reverse it once. To change to stock HTC Rom, you need to unlock the phone like you said, via a goldcard, and I think you still need to s-off it, then flash the new HTC rom, or like you said, use the OTA. Although, I am not sure on this 100%, I think you need to s-on as the OTA will not work correctly, I'm sure I read something like that somewhere. Either way, give it a go with s-off still. From then on you might as well leave it s-off unless you really do need to s-on, incase you want to re-do the orange ROM at a later date.
You just run the ruu .exe, in windows, connected via USB, I think you have the phone just on normally, and it will ask you to restart, or force restart. Then use the same tool as I posted to reverse the s-off, and change the CID back to orange default. It then just erases the data, puts on the Orange rom.
Hope this helps
Matt

aliveanddead86 thanks for links. I downloaded UK ROM and seems it does not fit to my DHD because of CID difference. Mine is ORANGB10 but UK ROM requires ORANG001 or ORANG202 (according to android-info.txt file from rom.zip). I found ES RUU with ORANGB10 in android-info.txt but have not tried yet. Orange PL rom contains additional games such The Sims 3, Uno and Tetris, do you guys have them in your rom?

I did have those originally in my Rom (the games that is). You can change the CID to match the orange ROM then? But liek you said, it is the UK version, but can always give it a go? When you said about your CID, I thought mine was 001 when I changed it back.
I forgot you were from poland, the picture wasn't enough

Hi,
Trying to get my brother-in-law's HD back to stock orange ROM so it can go off for warranty repair, but the iloveabath.co.uk links don't appear to work any more. Would anyone have a stock orange RUU that I can use?
Cheers.

RUU 1.15 wont flash - waits for bootloader

Hi
I've downloaded an HTC Europe 1.15 RRU that I used before and worked.
Now, however, it wont flash. I just get to the "waiting for bootloader" and then a "connection error". I tried rebooting into bootloader but then the RRU just counts upto 100 and then tells me there is a connection error.
The difference between now and last time is that I've updated my bootloader to Alpha-Rev bootloader and Clockwork Mod Recovery is installed. The phone is rooted and S-OFF as well.
I'm trying to restore the phone to factory condition in preparation for a return to HTC for repair.
I guess I need to resintall some bootloader and recovery mod?? or is that in the RUU?
Any ideas/advice?
Android version 2.2
Baseband 32.47.00.32U_5.10.05.23
Kernel 2.6.32.15-gf5a401c
Build 2.29.405.2 CL263770 release-keys
Software: DJ Droid v1.8 (but also tried latest MoDaco, Pinky, CM6 and LeeDroid)
Browser: WebKit 3.1
HBOOT 0.93.0001
BRAVO PVT3 SHIP S-OFF
MICROP-051d
TOUCH PANEL-SYNW0101
Clockwork Recovery v2.5.0.7
Why do you want to put the FIRST ever RUU back onto your device? Just download the latest RUU (2.29.405.2) by clicking on my signature. This is assuming your phone in unbranded from the start, if not you'll need to get the RUU for your operator
Er, because I said ...
"I'm trying to restore the phone to factory condition in preparation for a return to HTC for repair"
Factory condition means ANY ROM that was meant for the unit - you don't need to go back to the first!!! So long as you're on an x.xx.405.x ROM you'll be fine!!! LMAO!!!
If you just flash the 2.29.405.2 RUU then you're back to stock so the factory will accept it
bloody hell.
saved me a ****ty weekend there pal.
nice1
cheers
will do this tonight and report back.
My HBOOT is 0.93.001 (flashed using alpha-rev clockword mod install utility). Some older RUUs refuse to load (waiting for bootloader and a reboot to bootloader whilst the RRU is still running - doesnt fix the problem). Appears to be waiting for a special signature from the bootloader. Is your link (RRU) likely to work do youo know ??
If you're currently S-OFF, which I assume you are, then get this file instead:
http://shipped-roms.com/download.ph...9.00.32U_5.11.05.27_release_151783_signed.zip
It's the same RUU but in ZIP form. Once downloaded remove everything from the name except PB99IMG (so the file is effectively called PB99IMG.zip) and copy it to the root of your SD card. Then boot into HBOOT and it will read the ZIP and ask you to continue. Say yes and once done reboot and you'll be back to stock. Then just remove the ZIP from the SD card and away you go!
Word of advice: I was S-OFF and using the N1Table and the first time I ran this it failed on the System partition and got stuck on the white HTC screen. I left it an hour, ran the PB99IMG again and it completed so if you are on anything other than the stock table I'd go back to that first using the file from AlphaRev before running the ZIP
Either way you should be fine
Yeah S-OFF.
I'm okay with the PB99 - used that when creating gold card and downgrading.
The N1Table stuf is new to me. I'll google that now.
Thanks for the tip and link.
Cheers pal.
**EDIT:
Okay, so N1table is the partition table for sram/nvram chips.
I have not knowingly modified these, but in any event will grab
the stock HTC table just in case. I can only assume the hangup
is generated because the partition table is hardcoded in the RRU
rather than being read in by the RRU - or something like that.
Anyway, thanks once again pal.
[Q] The phone was purchased on the UK Orange network although no branding on the phone (orange square logo and orange applications). The phone was locked to the Orange network and the settings SLIGHTLY different than the unbranded phone my bro has. Will I need to get hold of the Orange RRU before sending to HTC for repair (as in will the IMEI number be registered to Orange or something)?
If it had the Orange ROM on it then you will need that before sending it back...now, an Orange RUU has never surfaced BUT I might know someone getting one today so if I hear anything I'll post back on here.
If you needed a gold card to flash the stock RUU then you will need the Orange RUU
With regards to S-OFF, unless you downloaded and flashed a new table you will still be on the stock Desire one
I used alpha-rev' s-off utility (cant recall the link and didnt save it) but unsure whether the table has been modified. I'll just download the HTC one. Simples.
DAMM. I thought I may need the Orange RUU. Yes, the stock RRU wouldnt install I recall; required a gold card and a bootloader downgrade as I remember. ****!
I've been searching for Orange RUU for months to no avail.
As I said, hold out a day or so as I think someone might be getting it from Orange
Leave it with me...
Acknowledged
My gracious thanks in advance.
Good luck!
Eddy if you get a stock Orange RUU you will be god . Hope you get it.

It won't be me but apparently someone is getting an Orange techie to debrand his phone and he's getting the RUU in case he needs to go back to stock...as soon as I hear something I'll update

Hang on; dya mean its possible to create an RUU or backup of a branded Orange phone - as indeed I had before I rooted et.al. ? Oh no, could I have created one - surely not ?

Nice1 Eddy. The ZIP did the trick. The RRU method didnt work but I expected that as it was looking for an original HBOOT signature.
So, back to HTC stock. Not sure whether they would accept it for repair though given that it was sold as a branded Orange handset. Can they check?
Well, I will give this a go. The reason for the repair is that I've installed god knows how many custom ROMs and:
1. wifi doesnt always work.
2. Data connection errors.
3. Random reboots.
4. 90% reboot when navigating in the car.
5. Failure to answer some incoming calls.
6. Sometimes outgoing calls carry no voice modulation (they cant hear me)
different problems depending on ROMs.
So, lets see how the stock does before I decide to send back/or not.
Thanks again Eddy.
No, the bloke at Orange is going to give the guy getting it debranded the Orange RUU so he can go back to stock if he needs to...
HTC can tell, and my still fix it and put the Orange ROM back on it, but they may also turn around and refuse to fix it due to having a different ROM to the original
You can get to stock Orange with a very complicated method. After debranding you would root the phone. Then apply the backup on my thread. You then remove the superuser.apk with adb. You then flash the two updates orange released this unroots your phone back to stock.

Nice1 Ste, however, mine is SLCD not Amoled. The nandroid is from an Amoled handset. Wont work with mine. Nice idea tho.
Anyone have a nandroid from an Orange set??

[Q] Error 131 on Orange uk HDH

Hi all hope everyone has had good xmas i recently got my HDH just before xmas on contract from Orange uk ive got it unlocked but would really love to get rid of the huge amount of bloatware the poor thing came with. I would like to return to a stock HTC rom and im currently using RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.6_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.26_M_release_155891_signed and everytime i run it i constantly get this message ERROR [131]: CUSTOMER ID ERROR i have used the orginal 8gb which came with the phone and a 2gb sd to create my goldcard. Ive created the gold card multiple time but still ge the customer id error message ive used the goldcardtool and also created the goldcard the manual way by editing with a hexeditor and still the same result. Please can any point me in the right direction the current rom on the phone is 1.40.61.2 and the Hboot is 0.85.0007.
Regards
Hi,
Hope you had a great xmas also. Your DHD will need to have SuperCID, Your DHD is checking the CID (Customer ID) of the Stock HTC Update and it doesn't match the CID provided by Orange UK.
You can follow This Guide and just follow the steps.
Once your CID is unlocked you can flash anything regardless.
Hope this helps.
Hi,
Thankyou for your quick response it worked a treat no more orange bloatware what a relief. I presume i do not need to keep the goldcard in the system and i can format my 8gb sd back to normal card?. Also the ruu i listed above is the latest one i presume from htc if you know by any chance, anyway thankyou again its so nice shame on you orange.
Regards
No, the ROM you listed is not the latest. If you flash the latest HTC ROM you will lose Root, ENG HBOOT, S-OFF.
Thankyou ill leave it at this one for now then have a good new year
Regards
thnks for the Good Guide...was searching for it...
@OP - As you have already installed an RUU u might have lost Root and S-Off already.
you can goto Settings - about phone - system updates and install the latest update.

[Q] Cat ate the Gold card and need to unroot.

Right, I have a slight issue.... my wifes phone is playing up at the moment ... the dreaded reboot issue when ever you do more than make a call, so I need to send the phone back to HTC.
The problem ...
I don't have my gold card anymore ... it was on my desk and the cat must have eaten it! I have tried unrooting without and it stops with an incorrect bootloader message (or something along those lines)
I have managed to boot back into Android after clearing all data (via the bootloader), am I ok in creating a goldcard even though I am on a custom ROM and not stock?
Did try Googling but got mixed messages .... not all relating to the Desire either.
Anyone tried unrooting an O2 Desire yet? If so what RUU did you use?
Thanks in advance
Doesn't matter what ROM you are on, you can even create a goldcard without your phone if necessary.
Be careful which RUU you choose, as some of the older ones can cause an SLCD brick (depending on which screen you have).
I'm not sure about the situation with O2, but I debranded my Orange phone with the latest stock RUU as there have been no Orange RUU leaks.
Thank you,
Hopefully that will work, it is going back to HTC not O2, so will probably go for the latest stock RUU (and hopefully the goldcard will work!!)
The bootloader is dated Aug 10 from memory so fairly new and still falls under HTC warranty.
Will post a few more details about the bootloader version later.
Thanks again.

[Q] Reverting to stock: some questions. (Italian CID?)

Hi to all, I know that this topic has been discussed a lot, but, after a couple of days of reading, I couldn't find all the answer to my duobts; so I'm sorry if something has already been asked, but (as you could probably understand) I want to be 100% sure about the exact procedure.
So a couple of days ago a crack appeared out of nowhere on my LCD screen (just on the inner LCD; the outside glass is unscratched and good as new) so I need to revert my DHD (running ARHD 5.2.3) back to stock for warranty purpose.
Please tell me if this is the correct procedure:
- Put the orignal RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.32.405.3_Radio_12.28b.60.140e_26.03.02.15_M3_release_155032_signed connecting the DHD to the PC in HTC sync mode and running the exe wich should flash the ROM and the RADIO in the device;
- Use visionary to gain temproot;
- Use Jkolio tool to revert ENG to S-ON (because, as far as I understand, RADIO S-ON would be reverted by the aformentioned RUU exe)
- Use another RUU of my choice (a.e. RUU_Ace_HTC_WWE_1.72.405.3_R_Radio_12.28e.60.140f_26.04.02.17_M2_release_161342_signed) to finally get a stock device.
Is this the correct procedure?
Another question.
My device is unbranded and purchased in Italy.
Before flashing the final RUU, should I also put the orignal CID (different from the actual 11111111) using jkolio tool?
In this case do you know wich CID should I use? The unbranded ONE (HTC__001) or the italian one (HTC__405)?
If i change the CID, will it be necessary to use the goldcard to gain the root again?
Sorry if this was asked a lot of time, but I wasn't able to find the answers I need.
Thanks for your time and your responses.
Edit:
For explanation's sake I add that I didn't use the goldcard to gain root in the first place and that using "getprop ro.cid" in terminal emulator, my CID appears to be HTC__405 (the italian one), but in the bootloader is CID-11111111
Sooooo, no answers at all?
Can someone at least say me if radio s-on is reverted by the RUU exe?
Sorry if I insist, but I've to take the device to repair as soon as possible.

Rru update

Hello chaps
Im a bit confused so im posting this in the hope that you fellas more experienced than me could maybe shed some light on my situation.
I have unlocked bootloader and custom recovery at moment and i have decided that although ICS is cool i want to flash some custom roms, so i decided to get my cid and check stock firmware to download appropriate ones in case i need them for serious recovering of the phone.
The problem is s-on, im aware that the rom has to match the cid and unlike my sensation xe i cant at present get supercid, however i was happy to see that cidgetter reported in the top left corner my cid was HTC__001.
Happy days, or so i thought, because my phone was an orange branded phone, unlocked, i assumed it would actually be an orange uk firmware i needed.
2 days later im struggling, so far ive attempted to install the following -
Orange Uk branded Ruu
HTC Europe (HTC_001) RUU
H3g UK RUU as im actually on 3 network
Nothing is working, so i reloaded cidgetter and examined the prop more closely, where i found a few instances of "WWE" which i see is actually ASIA, so i thought id try a ASIA rom, alas still nothing, it will not install.
What am i doing wrong, ive tried installing these htc roms on both custom and stock recovery, usb debugging is also on, everything checks out but i cannot get an RUU to install on my phone, having tried Europe, Asia and Uk im left wondering which RUU i do actually need to recover my phone in case of disasters, 2 days and my head is puddled with it all, i dont want to start customizing my phone until i know for sure that i can recover it.
Im not convinced that cidgetter is fully accurate, why would it report htc 001 or WWE when it was an orange uk phone, i have noticed theres also loads of info in there about carriers in italy, spain, germany and frankly, all over the world, but no indication whatsoever as to what the correct RRU recovery for the device would be.
P L E A S E H E L P
Because im ready to scream, there must be a way to determine what i need and i cant be bothered downloading every rru on filefactory because the site is so damn slow, takes an hour and half just get 1 of them.
Unless anyone has any links to a better server where they are stored like HTC maybe.
As a newbie to the htc im crying out for help here, and feedback would be most welcome and extremely appreciated.
Thanks.
Gaz
Did the phone have Orange branding/apps on it when you turned it on? If not, you have an unbranded handset so the x.xx.401.x RUUs are the only ones you need
Download the 1.29.401.7 RUU from the mirrors in the Shipped-ROMs thread
Why do you need it anyway? If the phone works then the only reason you need it is to revert to stock if you're sending it to HTC.
As a side note best way to flash them is:
1. Boot phone into HBOOT
2. Switch to FASTBOOT
3. Connect to PC
4. Run RUU
Thanks Eddy, top man
Its not that i want to use it, as i said its just in case of any mjor issue like soft brick or something whilst flashing a custom, just playing safe.
I think i have a feeling it could be my unlocked bootloader, i cant help thinking i may need to relock it to flash an RRu
Also correct, although my phone is orange originally, there is no orange logo on it and no orange related software on it, so im assuming you are correct in your findings and i shall give it a go.
Thanks button clicked, chhers for the info.
Yes, you need to relock the bootloader to flash an RUU on the One X
To confirm, when you first got the phone were there any Orange logos/apps on it when turning it on? If not, then you are unbranded
Update....
Relocked bootloader and followed your instruction
Got a bit further this time, it failed again this time at updating signature, the error report was -
Error 140 - bootloader version.
So i dont know what that error means exactlt but im still baffled by it, it wont flash the 401 rom either.
ok so this is what info i have -
Main cid - htc__001
endeavor_u_ics_40
ro.aa.rid - 1467
skulist - 401
bootloader - 0.94.0000
ro.carrier - WWE
ro.cid - HTC__001
Can anyone shed any light on exactly what RUU i need???
Speaking of the whole s-on issue, is there no way to firstly backup the build.prop and then manually text edit the cid to alter it?
This may result in brick is my only concern.
