i just flashed this rom on my htc evo and I keep getting the HTC Sense load screen when I close my apps or go to the home screen...Is there away to fix this issue??
Before I flashed this ROM I performed a nandroid backup
Format all zip
then Wipe Factory
then Wipe Cache
then Wipe Davlik
And still get the HTC Sence loading screen when switching apps and going to the home screen
Did you wipe ext2and android.secure? That is if you have the ext3 set up.
Edit: That is if you are using AR2.3 recovery and did a backup that included the everything but the cache...just wipe EVERYTHING except (obviously) the SDCARD itself (just below the wipe sdcard ext). The battery and rotation is not needed, but won't hurt.
If you are using this and did not do a recovery with everything checked except the cache (wimax is not a big deal if you have done that by itself). Do not wipe until you have. Only draw back if you didn't, you will have to set everything back up again after the restore.
Oops, I forgot that you had already done your nand and are attempting to get this running, so the last couple paragraphs are a bit late. Wipe EVERYTHING (but SDCARD itself obviously) and give it a go. Good Luck
After I wipe the sdcard ext and reboot the phone worked for me.Now I just got to get the camera fixed on this ROM.thanks for the help

Now my phone boots but force close rom manager, titanium back up, etc and although my phone is rooted and I can still boot into recovery I dont what todo to get the rom working again. Do I find a recovery image and flash it or do I flash the rom again?
Might want to try booting onto recovery.....wipe/factory reset, wipe cache, and dalvix cache and then reboot and let me know what happens

Thank you! That's exactly what I did. I booted into recovery, did a back up just in case something went horribly wrong. Then I did a wipe/factory reset, empty dalvix cache and viola. My phone was still rooted and I reinstalled Titanium backup and was able to put all my apps back on the phone. Afterward I did a back up of all my stuff, then I flashed the recovery and backed up the ROM. Everything is working better than normal. Thanks!
Good glad I could help......

Periodic SD to PC backup
As you've learned, a periodic backup of SD to PC is a good practice.
Same thing has happened to me, been backing up SD to PC approx. monthly since then.
I've just rooted my phone and now require a ROM which doesn't have sense UI, what one would be my best option?
Thanks
Anything with AOSP in the title
and CM7, cant forget that
The best vanilla Rom I have tried is redux, I found it much quicker than ginger villain.

I just tried to flash gingervillian on my phone but I think I must have made a mistake somewhere as it got to the gingervillian load screen and then just got caught in a loop where it'd just replay the animation of it. I then had to do a restore to sort my phone out.
I did follow the unlockr guide but it doesn't help that the guy is using an Evo instead of a Desire and the menu's are totally different in the Clockworkmod screen.
At one point he says you need to wipe the dalvik cache but I couldn't find this so just wiped the cache. So this might have been the problem? Also do you need to wipe anything else at this point?
You need to wipe everything, what recovery are you using - CWM or AmonRA?
I'm using the CWM recovery.
Dunno then, in AmonRA you choose 'Wipe' and all options are in there. Must be something similar in CWM
I've checked again and I have two wipe menus:
1. Wipe data/ factory reset
(under this I have: Delete all user data)
2. Wipe Cache Partition
(in this I have: Wipe cache)
Hmmm, not as many as AmonRA - find that surprising but probably better to see what someone else says

After you do the first 2 wipe's go to advanced its the last menu and do wipe dalvik cache, after that it should work fine...
Cheers

What do you mean by after I do the first two wipes?
Do I delete user data, wipe cache and also then wipe dalvik cache.
Thanks.
Yes. A "full wipe" means wiping the User data/cache/dalvik cache. So wipe all three:
1. Wipe data/ factory reset
2. Wipe Cache Partition
3. Wipe dalvik cache
The order does not matter.
Ah OK thanks.
I don't like the sound of having to 'wipe/ delete all user' data though, does this mean I'll lose all my contacts, calender entries, notes etc?
Yes, but if coming from another ROM you HAVE to do it. Do a nandroid backup before flashing a new ROM and backup any other data using Titanium Backup
I'm not coming from another ROM but regardless I'll do the Titanium backup and do the three wipes and try it again.

Well I've done it and unfortunately have been having alot of hassle trying to get it to be stable. These are the two main issues:
1. I can't seem to get psx4droid to work properly. When I go to load a game by selecting its data.bin file the screen goes black for a few seconds and then returns to the select screen, instead of firing up the game. Does psx4droid actually run on gingervillain?
2. Also I have the other extremely annoying issue where if I turn my phone off it will not get any further than the gingervillain splash screen and just freezes on it. The only way passed this is to then go into CWM and wipe all the user data again!
Can anyone help with these two problems?
Use Oxygen 2.0.1 and download ADW Launcher, sounds like what you want, i have flashed just about all the ROM's and i reckon Oxygen is the best, then use UOT Kitchen to make some cool mods and ADW Launcher EX speeds it up alot also.
Plus its very stable and you wont get any boot loops or anything.
so i have been using CM7 RC1 w/ stock kernel for a while now, without any issues. i was reading up and wanted to try the new incredikernel though, for the governor rather than using setcpu/juice defender for increased battery life.
so i did a titanium backup, then in Clockwork did a full backup before i started messing with anything. i then mounted to computer to put the kernel on the SD card. i did this, but was confused where to actually put the .zip file so that CW would see it. SD card or internal memory? i've had this issue before.
anyway, i didn't find the .zip when i booted into recovery, so i went to re-mount to USB to move it over to the other directory, and everything seized up on me. trying to mount USB basically froze my phone. re-booting did not fix, when i try to go into CM settings or try to mount USB same freezing would happen.
OK fine, i just did a nandroid backup so i figured it wasn't a big deal since i haven't actually made any changes yet and so i restored. then it would not boot. got stuck at the CM7 bootloader. ****. so i tried an earlier restore point, from a few months ago. that worked (also CM7-RC1 when i first put it on). i didn't wipe cache/dalvik when i tried the first time, so i wiped now and then tried to restore the most recent backup again. still, no luck.
so i've been living with the older restore trying to get everything how it was before. another note, i had installed a battery meter (RC1 did not come with one), and when trying to flash this, got stuck at the same bootloader screen again. another thing to note is that i have been updating CW to the latest version when it is available, but all versions are 3.xx. the latest i think i went from 3.0.0.5 to 3.0.0.8. just trying to include as much info as possible here...
any ideas? it's frustrating because i haven't actually been installing anything new. at this point i just want my phone the way it was, i.e. getting the latest restore point to work. it won't, but older restore versions will work. did CW mess up the backup, is it corrupt? is this a CM7 issue or CW? help please!
if this is in the wrong forum, apologies, it wouldn't let me post in the dev thread due to lack of posts.
Did you do a complete wipe before trying to restore your backups? In recovery, wipe data/factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, format boot, system, data and cache.

i did not do that before. i just tried though, and same result. stuck in CM7 boot loop.
wtf happened to my backup!
That happened to me once. Try this. Save everything on your sd card to your computer. Reformat card. Then put just the nandroid back on card. It might help.
Yeah sounds like it may be an issue with the SD card or your backup..

Here's the deal. I got a new 16GB sd card, copied everything over (including hidden files) and it worked fine for about two hours. Then the screen went black but the LED and soft buttons stayed lit. I did a Clockwork recovery (with a version that I've used successfully before) but it couldn't find SD-EXT so it would boot up to the red Droid "eye" thing (right before loading the homescreen) and then just keep showing that animation.
So I put the old card back in, tried again, and it still couldn't find the SD-EXT file so I've got a phone now which is stuck at this animation.
My question is, can I just boot into Clockwork and install Cyanogen (because I couldn't find a DINC custom recovery file anywhere) from a zip on the SD and have everything start working again? Don't want to mess it up more than it already is.
Unless you have made an SD-EXT partition, it will give that "error" in recovery. Its not actually messing anything up. I'm not sure why its bootlooping but you can try wiping data and cache then reboot or you can download a zip from www.dougpiston.com to take your phone back to stock.

I actually discovered that in further research after I posted.
Clearing the cache was a no-go so of DP's site should I go with PB31IMG or with one of his recovery images? I'm think of going with the one with CWM 2.5 on it.
I would try either doing a complete wipe and reflash of whatever rom you choose or you can use the PB31IMG.zip to get back to stock and flash a rom from there. Make sure you're doing a complete wipe as well (wipe data/factory reset, cache, dalvik cache) and do it manually in recovery, not with rom manager.

I recently got a replacement Evo from Sprint and was able to root and have been running MikG for a while. I haven't been getting the battery life that I'd like to see (I'm a fairly heavy user) so I want to go back to using Deck (which I had great success with in the past). However, when I flash Deck 1.3 I get stuck in a white screen boot loop. I wipe Cache, D-Cache and Data via AmonRa, but no look. I can get back to recovery just fine and restore a nandroid backup just fine.
Any thoughts?
Make sure to wipe everything except your sdcard and battery stats.
Wipe data factory rest, data, system, boot, cache, dalvik cache, android secure and sdext if your partitioned then flash ROM and gapps and see if that works for you.

Just tried wiping all of those partitions and reflashing with the same result. I even powered off after flashing just to be safe and I let it go through the boot loop about 10 times as well. No luck.
Just out of curiosity, what partition is the kernel stored on? I didn't know if there was anything special that I needed to do to wipe the kernel or not. My guess would be system but I'm not positive what wipes the kernel.
Try a format all zip. Are you partitioned for a2sd? Wipe SD ext.
You can find the format all in the link below
