Okei.. Before you tell me to use the search button, ive been searching for an hour for this question..
How can you find out what hboot my G2 is on? Because ive been wanting to flash a radio to my phone and threads say that i need eng. hboot to actually flash it or it will brick my phone..
It will be helpfull if someone tells me how to find out..
Also, can someone please link me to the eng.hboot file?
Thanks in Advanced.
Turn off your phone and then hold power+vol down.
Will it show the eng hboot symbol any where?
Ok, well this is what it says..
VISION PUT ENG S-OFF
HBOOT-0.76.200(PC1010000)
MICROP-0425
RADIO-26.03.02.26_M
eMMC-BOOT
It says ENG in the beginning but at the end it say eMMC-BOOT.
sooo, idk?

couple of things...
1) you have engineering hboot as evidenced by the "ENG" in the first line
2) you do not need engineering hboot to flash a new radio. I don't know who told you that, but it is not true. in fact, I would say that it's easier to flash a radio the PC10IMG.zip way rather than the fastboot way. if you need instructions on how to perform a PC10IMG.zip radio flash, let me know. it's very easy.
Can you show me please?
You can find all the radios you need and very simple step-by-step instructions here
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970809
I followed those instructions but when i went into bootloader it didnt scan the zip file. I seriously dont know what is wrong.. people tell me to name tthe file in capitals and all but it doesnt work either way.
Any help?

Did you ever format your sdcard to a different format? I think I read somewhere that Android won't read NTFS, only FAT
What do you mean by formating it? Hmm..

Did you rename your file "PC10IMG.zip" and when you do so, make sure that you have windows set to show you the file extensions otherwise you'll end up naming it "PC10IMG.zip.zip"

Yes i did rename it pc10img.zip
Okei this is what i did:
1. Downloaded .30 radio
2. Copied it to the root of the SDcard
3. Renamed it PC10IMG.zip (while in the sdcard)
4. Mounted the sdcard to the phone
5. Turned off the phone
6. Did bootloader by doing so; vol_down and power
7: and this is when i see it get scanned but it doesnt find the pc10img.zip file.
By the way i have the realesed sense 3.0 rom for G2

Ok, I've had this problem before. Delete the current PC10IMG.zip and redownload it, that should fix it. Just be sure you're naming it correctly by changing your settings in windows file explorer to show you the extension of the file

"Just be sure you're naming it correctly by changing your settings in windows file explorer to show you the extension of the file"
Ok, no problem. When you open "My Computer", click the "Tools" menu, then click "Folder Options", then the "View" tab, then the tenth (or so) checkbox down should say "Hide extensions of known file types". Make sure this is unchecked, as you want windows to ALWAYS show you the file extension, this ensures that you're not misnaming it by accident i.e. "PC10IMG.zip.zip", this should help you prevent that.

Omg, thank you! You were right! On root of the sdcard it said it was .zip while in the winrar folders it said .zip.zip
I flashed the radio already it seems like it didn't do any improvements.. I'm using .30 radio. You recommend me any other radios that work good?

I'm currently on the 04.30 radio as well, and it's about as good as it gets for me. I hear a lot of people have favorable results with the radios ending in .17 and .26 - I think, lol. My recommendation is to keep flashing until you find the best one for you (keep in mind different radios also affect wifi and data speed, not just signal strength)

So I'm not fluent in the linux terminal. I'm basically illiterate, deaf and dumb. So here I am trying to root using toasts tutorial, How To Root The HTC EVO ~ Part-1 \0/
the forum won't let me post links yet., and apparently the software here thinks some part of the code I'm posting is a link.
Anyway I'm at this step,
- At this point it will boot into a rooted rom.
- YOU ARE NOW ROOT!!!
- rename the PC36IMG.zip on your sdcard:
- plug your phone into a usb port on your desktop and do:

I may be root but I had a problem and had to redo this step... my sdcard was not being recognized. After reflashing/ updating I was able to access it again.
Now this rename the zip file step... I'm thinking if I rename it the code I'm supposed to enter isn't going to work. What should I rename it to?
How should I enter this code? first off my sd card isn't called sdcard it's called an 8 digit number.
I tried this (can't post the code for some reason) without changing the name of the zip file. I'm thinking I don't have the locations right because I know the file is in there.
I need some direction to get to the next step.
Thanks

i have no idea what your doing...i rooted via the unREVOked method...i had to downgrade to 2.1, then actually root...can u send me a PM with what tutorial your following? and also the current info you have for your phone, like what its running (2.1 or 2.2) and stuff of that nature.... we shall see if i can help, not sure but its worth a shot
okay form what i read you have already flashed the .zip. Make sure you clear your data and cache as these will cause boot loops if not cleared. Also you can rename the .zip to anything you want, this just makes it so the bootloader does not try to install the .zip a second time.

I just removed the .zip part. What is the point of the next step, which I couldn't get to work, if I rename the file?
Code:
adb shell mv /sdcard/PC36IMG.zip /sdcard/root-PC36IMG.zip
Well I guess I'm going to start over and wait for the latest unrevoked to come back out. Thanks to everyone that tried to help. "NO ROOT FOR YOU!"
You have a lot to learn....
First of all, don't rename the sdcard, rename pc36img.zip. Just rename it to anything you want so boat loader doesn't recognize it and try to update itself. Next, you aren't utilizing root. You do have a rooted boot loader, but you are still using a protected recovery and rom. Install a custom recovery and flash a new rom so you can be cool.

Yes, I know I have a lot to learn. I didn't rename the sdcard, that wasn't possible. I figured part of the problem with getting this to work was the path. My sdcard wasn't called sdcard it was called some 8 digit number. I eventually worked around pushing the file to the sd card by installing the phone as a drive and dragging the file to the sdcard.

After I rebooted and updated/ flashed the file, I renamed the file on the sdcard by removing the .zip. I did this via disk drive on my laptop because I wasn't getting anywhere with the command line.
Again this part didn't make any sense to me, not that most of it does, but what was the point of the next command in the directions if I renamed the file?

Right "I have a lot to learn" I thought following the directions in toasts tutorial step by step would have gotten me to that point. I didn't realize I was just supposed to skip stuff when I run into problems. That kinda seems like what your telling me to do. I thought all of the commands were important.
I was hoping you had some follow up insight dkdude.
if you still on 2.1, try this method (just make sure the files aren't corrupted)

HTC Wildfire (buzz) 1.01.0001
You need the froyo ruu from shipped roms website with the filename " RUU_BUZZ_FROYO_HTC_WWE
and you also should make a gold card. And if the ruu gives any error, extract the Rom.zip from the windows temporary folder and rename it to PC49IMG.ZIP to be kept at the root of sdcard. Then reboot to hboot menu from where you can update that.
And CID errors mean that your gold card is not working.

Yes, its the right file with the right HBoot. But I hope that you are referring to the extracted ROM.ZIP which must be renamed, not the EXE file itself. If not, just follow that post above.
Hello all,
my son has a wildfire with these specs :
- android 2.1
- baseband 13.45.55.24_3.35.15.31
- kernel 2.6.29-6fb59e13
- build 1.29.163.1 CL235700
and...
- HBOOT 0.80.0002
- Radio 3.35.15.31
- S-ON
He wants to try a cyanogen rom.
How can I do ?
I've done this : install root/recovery with unrevoked.
Root is OK but the recovery don't work : when i select an option, the screen become black and nothing happen...
So I think i've done a bad thing...
After reading many posts, i think the method could be this :
- flash an official froyo 2.2 rom to have the hboot 1.01.0001 (got a goldcard for that)
- s-off the phone with AlphaRev X
- install ClockWorkMod
- flash the cyanogen with ClockWorkMod
Right ?
But i also read that when flashing an official froyo 2.2, the root become impossible.
Somebody to help me ?

Cm7 needs cwm recovery 3.x or above. Download any 3.x or above recovery.img file and then use unrevoked to select custom recovery from file menu. Point to the downloaded img file. It gives you the required recovery for flashing cm7 rom.
And altrrnatively you can also flash a 3.0.0.6 recovery from the rom manager if you had a rooted phone presently. Open rom manager and select "all clockworkmod recoveries" at the bottom. Flash 3.0.0.6 recovery. Then reboot to recovery from the option in rom manager itself. Then you will get 3.x recovery for that instant. But I recommend to use unrevoked and flash a higher recovery because few people had problems with 3.0.0.6 recovery .
And you can also use alpharevx to s-off and then root. But better do it after knowing the uses of s-off. And if at all your phone is A3335 wildfire, I would strongly suggest not to update hboot. Because almost all the people who faced alpharevx "nand writing error due to bad blocks" are having A3335 wildfire. If at all you want to go with alpharevx, then check my sign for the links to process.

Yes, it is the right ruu.exe file .
Just make a gold card and run the ruu with phone connected in charge only mode. If you face Cid error then problem with goldcard. And for any errors, go with second way.
Do not connect phone to PC. On PC, click on start and type %temp% and enter. This opens the user temp folder of PC. Now open the ruu and donot go with process. And donot exit the ruu window too, just keep it aside. Now if you observe the temp folder, there will be 2 extra folders created with lengthy filename enclosed in {} brackets. If you explore these folders, you will find rom.zip . Copy the rom.zip to the root of your sdcard ( formatted with fat32 ). Then rename the rom.zip to pc49img.zip Then boot into hboot menu for updating it. And donot interrupt the process and make sure you have enough battery. Since the hboot and radio flashing in that are sensitive. Ofcourse, goldcard is needed here too, and Cid error mean goldcard not working.
[Don't know what things you need. But just thought of making clear. And I didn't mean renaming of ruu.exe to pc49img.zip].

Dear bharatgaddameedi,
first : THANK YOU !
This is why i love XDA : a great community with great members.
So, i'm going to read carrefully your complete guide (i don't know why i miss it !).
And after, if it don't work, i will ask questions !
Just a little one at this moment : you said if my phone is A3335 wildfire, don't update hboot. Where i can find this information ?
Because i thought that A3335 was just the wildfire code (mine has been produce in may 2010).
[EDIT] : for this question, it seems that this thread give me the answer.
Mine is like the first pic (A3333), so it's not an A3335 ! that's cool...
So i'm going to follow your guide because, i've installed the 3.0.0.6 recovery and, like the 2.5 version, black screen when i select something...
You can see under the battery of your wildfire whether it is A3333 or A3335. Just need to read the tiny letters. Pics of both will be same.
Edit: and I think you are using power button to select options in custom recovery. If so, you shouldn't use power button to select options in custom recovery. Instead you should use trackpad to select options and power button to go back to previous menu.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
You're right my friend !
I was using the power button to select options in custom recovery...
(because it's not my phone... mine is an LG O2X, and in the clockworkmod, i use the power button...)
I followed all your guide, and the wildfire is now S-ON, rooted and has a recent clockworkmod recovery (v4.0.0.5).
So, my son is going to choose the rom he want (cyanogen i think) and let's go to flash !
BIG THANK again Bharat for your support!
[EDIT] : Cyanogen nightly 128 has been flashed. Everything is going OK ! My son is happy ! Thanks again Bharat !

Creating ext partition on memory card depends on your need. It is not mandatory, but may be needed if you are out of phone memory. It gives you true apps2sd with the ability to move dalvik cache too. It moves every 3rd party app to the ext partition. After creating the ext partition you should flash the DTApps2sd from recovery to use the true apps2sd.
On the other hand, without creating ext partition, you can use the traditional android froyo + aps2sd which installs apps (almost all apps) on the android secure folder of memory card. It doesn't has the ability to move the cache. But you can move almost all the apps to sdcard. You need to use adb command "adb shell pm setInstallLocation 2". This command is not even needed for cm7 since cm7 has inbuilt option for this command.
And creating ext3/ext4 may depend on the speed (class) of memory card. Also moving dalvik cache to sdcard should be done with a better class sdcard.
And personally for me, partitioning with cwm recovery gave bootloops (after flashing DTApps2sd) for a memory card but got success with other card. Anyway I used "gparted live CD" to partition my memory card which was a bit headache at first but finally got success.

1: You can do that, or use apps like Titanium Backup / Root Uninstaller to uninstall apps like DSP Manager
2. I keep VM Heap Size at 24MB, Rest all are at Stock. I would rather not mess with them.
3. When you use Smartass, and, your screen is on, it will automatically set the lowest clock value to 528MHz. When the screen is off, it reverts to the set lowest value. Thus, it conserves battery when needed, and provides extra power when needed. Thereby- smart.
3. Can't help you with Facebook, Sorry. Don't have that installed.
I looked in the thread about flashing the newest radio. I followed the instructions but i just cant figure it out for the life of me. can anybody help me out?
download the radio of choice. Put it on the root of your sd card. Make sure it is named exactly right it must be named PG32IMG.zip it is case sensitive. Power off your device. Hold volume down and power to get into hboot give it a few seconds to automatically find the image. It will ask if you want to update hit volume up for yes and let it do its thing. When its done hit power to reboot. Before you do this make sure you disable fastboot under menu/settings/power or you may have a hard time getting into hboot. When your done remember to delete the radio from your sd incase you have to use hboot to boot into recovery for some reason if you don't it will load that image every time
+1 many thanks i just got it up and running

on win7:
-go to folder options in control panel
-go to view tab
-uncheck 'hide known file extensions'
this will let you see the full path and avoid .zip.zip issues.
You should check the md5sum when flashing a new radio..
you can use the AFV app on your phone or use winMd5SumPortable on Win7

Download Correct Radio for your phone.
Check md5 to ensure it matches.
Put file on root portion of your sdcard.
Make sure it is named correctly. What OS do you have? A lot of errors come from naming the file incorrectly by naming it PB32IMG.zip.zip
Tell us what error you are getting.
Be careful before proceeding...wouldnt want a bricked phone.

Make sure it is named correctly. What OS do you have? A lot of errors come from naming the file incorrectly by naming it PB32IMG.zip.zip
Tell us what error you are getting.
Be careful before proceeding...wouldnt want a bricked phone.

I check the file name when i check the md5sum. usually using afv.
What error message are you getting.
This is my 1st actual post for development...so I hope you enjoy what I have to give!
I know this isn't long, since this isn't a ROM, so there aren't any changelogs or that kind of stuff.
Basically what this is, is a myTouch 4G radio flasher, it automatically puts your desired Radio onto you SD Card without you having to type it.
So...without further ado...here it is:

........Death before dishonor........
Seems legit to me
This is NOT an apk.
This file has a .rar extension. I have checked this package.
Two files:
1) READ THIS FIRST!.txt
Instructions!!:
1. You MUST have already downloaded AndroidSDK, if not, search it on Google.
2. MUST HAVE S-OFF FOR THIS TO WORK!
3. Download your desired Sensation Radio and rename it to PD15IMG.zip(if not already named that)
4. Put the Radio(.zip file) into your C:/AndroidSDK/platform-tools/ directory(if not, rename the SDK tools folder to AndroidSDK)
5. Once you've done that, plug your myTouch 4G in your USB port and put charge only on the phone.
6. Double-click the Batch file in the folder and wait for it to do its magic.
7. Once it's done rebooting into bootloader, wait a bit and some green lettering should come up.
8. After a few seconds, it should find the Radio, if it does, just press the Volume UP button to start the update(it's either
Volume UP or another button, should say).
9. Once update is complete, reboot and enjoy your new Radio!
Click to collapse
2) MT4G Radio Flash.bat
Code:
@echo off
title myTouch 4G Radio Flasher
color 0a
echo Putting your desired Radio onto your SD Card...
cd C:/AndroidSDK\platform-tools/
adb push PD15IMG.zip /sdcard/PD15IMG.zip
echo -----------------------------
echo Now for part 2...
echo -----------------------------
cd C:/AndroidSDK/platform-tools/
adb shell md5sum /sdcard/PD15IMG.zip
echo ---------------------------------------------------------------------
echo Now rebooting into bootloader...
echo ---------------------------------------------------------------------
cd C:/AndroidSDK/platform-tools/
adb reboot bootloader
echo DONE! :)
pause
exit
Conclusion:
This is a bat file for WINDOWS USERS.
It needs the SDK installed or adb(android debug bridge) in it's PATH!
It will only place the modified PD15IMG.zip on the sdcard so that when it reboots into bootloader/spl(second partition loader) it reads and updates the device.
**Remember, if you use this method, you must erase the PD15IMG.zip from the sdcard root directory. What happens is if you don't erase it, every time you reboot/boot into the spl, it will read the PD15IMG.zip and update it again.**

Why would you need to do all that when you can simply download a radio in our thread put it on the root of sdcard and boot into bootloader? Waste of time and the o.p clearly did something wrong to get banned

1kb file is probably just a small script... Don't judge an app like this by it's small size, text files are never really huge. If it's a script with 3 simple lines, then it makes sense.
I haven't looked at it myself... But I suggest you all keep flashing as you normally did. It's not complicated.
the thing is, why would you need an App to flash the radio when the device can do it via HBoot?
that was already strange in itself....

Moreover, the major problem is that there isn't any reference to md5 checksum whatsoever- Flashing a corrupted radio file could result in major headache.
The OP should add this into the instructions (between steps 3 and 4), and could also be nice if the script could also include md5 checking...

That'll be kinda hard since the OP has been banned (at least for now), but yeah lack of MD5 verification was the first thing I thought of when I read the description.
you know what's easy? Download all the radio files putting each one in a separate folder. Verify MD5 so you know you have good downloads. Put all those folders in a "Radio" folder on your SD card. Then you just copy the one you need into the root directory of your SD card when you need to reflash.
Not sure why you'd need a script for this.

I don't need a script for this, I was just trying to find some justification for the OP's post, which actually does almost nothing other than push a non-checked file.
Anyway, op is banned and we added to the thread a warning to check md5 for whoever reads this.. probably more than enough.

Downloaded from a different computer and still the same issue, file is corrupt. Trying to check the md5 value and it does not even give me a md5 at all matching or not. I am going to go to a friends house and try downloading it again.
Ok, I have tried from a 3 different computers, my tablet and my htc thunderbolt and everytime it ends up in a corrupt/invalid .zip file. Can anyone link me to a known good working file so I can downgrade my hboot and get s-off?

You downloaded from 3 different computers, probably through the same connection, but I believe you tried to run them from the same computer that failed every time, just a guess.
Just tried 2 of the links:
http://d-h.st/XJX
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38127313/RootEvo4GNew.zip
and I'm currently in the process of trying the 3rd.
http://downloadandroidrom.com/file/H...otEvo4GNew.zip from your link here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=1771755
They work just fine. The problem appears to be on your end. All three downloads are OK.
And if that's not the case, here is the same file that I have been using since last year that others have downloaded. So if this one fails as well, then yes, there is definitely something wrong on your end.
https://dl.dropbox.com/u/38127313/P....15.00.0808_NV_2.15_release_220182_signed.zip
Also, I'm going to downgrade and S-OFF my old Evo with the same files just to verify that they are OK.

Stop trying to open the zip files and you'll be fine . The ones in my thread are fine, as was mentioned.
In the past with my thunderbolt and downloading the same files I have noticed if I can not open the zip file and see what is in it then it will not properly flash. But just for the sake of argument I will do it your way.

If you have to you could always download the froyo RUU and pull the rom.zip from it, rename to PC36IMG.zip and flash
To do this, run the RUU but do not click anything after it opens
With the RUU still open, open a "Run..." window (WindowsKey + R) and type in "%temp%" then enter to go to your temporary files folder
Sort the files by date modified and go into the most recent folders, find a zip called "rom.zip" and copy that to your desktop
Close the RUU, rename the "rom.zip" to "PC36IMG.zip" and you can then flash it through bootloader

Yep, the downloads do work. There is nothing wrong with any of the files. Phone went from 2.18, S-ON to 6.16, S-OFF without any issues from those same downloads.

I'm having the same problem. I just finished repairing my old EVO and looking to downgrade it to 2.15. All the links have bad files. Tried D/L from work, friends house, parents, and to my SGS3. Always get the same message..."cant open the folder... zipped folder is invalid." I've been to numerous sites about this and i'm always directed to the same files. This isn't a rare issue, it's a lot of people. There's something wrong with those files.

No, there isn't. The zip files are encrypted, so most zip programs will throw an error if you try to open them. They should not be unzipped. The files from my post have always and still work fine. Just follow the instructions and stop trying to open the zip!
NOTE: Some browsers will try to automatically open the zip file when download is complete. In that case, try a different browser.
No go, sir. Opening the zip or not, the fact is it doesn't work. I have a few of these files and none of them are recognized when boot loader is brought back up to flash the file. It scans the zip, can't find file, image or anything. Its the same thing no matter which one I use. I'll keep looking for a good procedure and a decent download.

There's nothing wrong with Captain's files or the pc36img.zip files given on this page. They work just fine as usual. I just downloaded one (again) and confirmed it.
Is your phone S-Off? Did you flash a mtd-eng.img file to your misc partition, so that it will downgrade?
If you answer no to both of these questions, then the problem is not necessarily the zip files, but is likely on your end. And if you answered no to both of those questions, then the zip files are not likely going to work for you.
And, if one of your answers is yes, then it could be a problem with your sdcard. Sometimes they are full, or not formated correctly, or have some other issue, which will also cause the files to fail. You cannot always assume that just because a file does not work the way you expect it to, that it is necessarily something wrong with that file.
