Hi there - sorry to put this as an urgent one... trying to get help for someone who's been using the ENG S-Off tool for his DHD and has the following error message
"bootloader corrupt. do not reboot! seek help from xda"
to say he's a little worried is an understatement!
please could someone either get back to me on here or in the thread on androidforums

For anyone interested, I've been told that he found a solution:
Go to Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage apps and clear the data from Superuser. Reconnect your phone making sure you're on charge only, usb debugging. Run the Eng S-off tool and watch your phone as it attemps to push the data. Superuser should pop up asking to let the Eng tool have privs. Click allow and it should work fine.
Cheers anyway!!

Bortak's troubleshooting guide, stickied to the top of Q&A
You'll likely need to use the 2.3.3 RUU, you can also find it in PB99IMG.zip format from users here.

That didnt Work bro still the same problem
You need to give more information: "that didn't work" or "all of them didn't work" isn't good enough to help us troubleshoot the problem....
- How are you trying to install the RUUs? Are you plugging them in and running them? Or using PB99IMG.zip method, does it find the zip file when booted into bootloader?
- Did the RUU fail to install? Did it come up with any error messages? If so could you tell us...
- Did the RUU install, can you boot into your phone and use it, but still getting the "process.acore has stopped" error?
Also it's useful to know your ultimate aim: are you going to sell the phone after RUU, or continue to use it?
Was your phone previously rooted? Do you want another ROM (obviously without the error). Why didn't you backup and try a different ROM? RUU tends to be last resort...
The more details you tell us, the more it becomes easier to help...

Still not quite answering many of my questions..
So the 2.3.3 RUU successfully installed, did you restart the phone and does it get past the first screen?
Do you try to use the phone normally, but the Process.Acore error keeps constantly appearing?

Ok so real quick….I'm not tech savvy. I usually get the new HTC One, watch a youtube tutorial, and install ViperROM. This time around I get to the finish line and I keep getting the same "set_perm failed" …..I tried twrp hima 2.8.6.4 …still the same problem. I'm ready to give up. Please help me
We need more details.. Is your phone s-off? Also did you flash the correct firmware? And is your bootloader unlocked.

What exactly is "the finish line"? Like @bigp951 said, we need more details. Please list everything you've done to this point and exactly what you're doing that returns that error.
I'm no expert but the process i used was.
- Get phone, Unlock bootloader via htcdev, (hadnt realise the sunshine apk does both unlocking bootloader and s-off at the time >< doh!), then s-off using sunshine, flash custom recovery via fastboot, flash superSU and install superSU apk for root, flash 1.40.401.x firmware with fastboot, flash viper rom (i had to do this twice as the first time an error came up which was helpfully listed in the troubleshooting section of the dev's post for viper, boom, it was all done. Backed up for safety
hope that helps you get to the source of the error.
when you say you flashed supersu and then installed supersu apk, what does that mean? I ask because when you flash the beta-superSu it installs the apk for you. But then again you had to be rooted to get s-off (someone correct me if I am wrong). Also, did you check the md5 before you tried to flash? Did you file a ticket with team viper? What was the error that showed up on the first failed attempt? Did you post on the viperonem9 thread and ask them for help? what is your cid and mid? supercid may help... and what is the current state of the phone? Is it still working?? Can you go into recovery? Still lots of questions.
If you want a clean slate to start over with find the CORRECT RUU and run it. Then you will be stock all over again (disclaimer--Find the RUU thread and follow instructions completely).
Obviously I am no expert either. I just run through the troubleshooting list when problems arise. But I try to help or point you in the direction of someone who can.
EDIT- there is also a newer official version of twrp for the m9. As @jollywhitefoot asked, you did not state what the finish line is nor what you were doing to return the error. If you installed the rom and made a backup than it sounds like the phone was working...

Seems like this was a waste of time drive by. For someone "screaming for help" you would think they would reply when someone tries to help them.
maybe he's asleep...lol

yeah, I know what you mean they ask a question and disappear for 2 days LOL
or he's thrown the phone under a bus and hates us all!!!! >< either way, there is a lot of helpful tips and tricks to be found in these forums. I think as mentioned above a good idea may be to try to return fully to stock and start again.... carefully following each step to the letter.

Did u went to the main Settings page in your ROM, in “Developer Options”. Open that, and enable “OEM Unlocking”.
If the ROM won't boot, only S-OFF with a java card will fix your problem.
My 2 cents.

Hit flippy's thread in the general section.
Sent from my HTC One M9 using Tapatalk
As @shivadow mentioned, search in @Flippy498 's thread for a RUU for your mid and cid.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/one-m9/general/stock-nand-backup-ota-update-collection-t3132698
Read here about RUU's
http://venomroms.com/ruu/
A RUU should get u a functional ROM, and from there follow all steps to unlock.
If no compatible RUU exists, only S-Off will do.
Thanks ill have a look!
