did you install the custom flash apk? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=752582
yes i did, video plays great then in the video it says in caption this video not optimized for mobile, and the the demon talking..any other ideas??
I cant offer a solution, but I can certainly back up your claims. I have the exact same slowed down audio with nearly perfect video. I downloaded the hulu app and new flash (same zip file) as well.

Hello,
Does anyone have any guides on how to root a Samsung Epic 4G Touch?
My wife and have ordered this phone and it is set to arrive this Monday.
I am trying to get a head start on the rooting process, so that I can get remove the Sprint bloat apps (Sprint Navigation, Sprint NASCAR, etc.) and also install the Mobile Hotspot hack. Currently, I have a rooted HTC Hero (Android OS 2.1) with the Wireless Tether app. The rooted HTC Hero has been a great phone. Due to its older Android OS and hardware, it cannot seem to handle the demand of current apps and the Wirless Tether app is pain slow. My previous Android phone was the Samsung Moment, which I thoroughly despised. I experienced nothing but problems with it. In face, I swore that I would never get another Samsung phone again. But alas, the features/specs of the Samsung Epic 4G Touch impressed my wife and I. I was eligible for a phone upgrade and we decide to take the plunge.
I would like to be as prepared as possible before the phone arrives.
As previously mentioned, I'd like to root the phone, remove Sprint bloat apps, and install the mobile hotspot app.
I also heard there is a wi-fi issue after rooting the phone. Is there any way to resolve this? I will be using wi-fi very often.
I do not have any previous flashing ROMs, other that the stock 2.1 ROM that was provided on the HTC site. I was able to root this 2.1 ROM with the Z4root app.
Thank you in advance for all your help.
Sfhubs auto root in dev sticky. Easy as pie. For a stock look rom with hotspot, try calkulins rom.

qbking77 may be a great asset to you if you're also more of a visual learner. Here's his latest vid on how to root the E4GT (sfhub's method) on EL29 which your phone should be on when it arrives.

Thank you for the quick reply.
I have read that the wireless tether app is problematic and the Sprint Mobile Hotspot hack is faster and more reliable. Which do you all recommend?
The Calkulin ROM looks great. The hacked Sprint Mobile Hotspot is already preloaded in the Calkulin ROM? Are the Sprint bloat apps already removed?
Since the phone will NOT be activated and straight out of the box, what would be the recommended steps to ensure the best rooting/flashing results.
I am trying to ensure the best possible result.
Thank you again in advance.

Since you have some time its quite simple go into development and read the OP of different roms and of course the stickies normally have the most reliable methods. This is what I normally do. Honestly its best to read for yourself which can always make trouble shooting in the future easier. Also don't Use Rom manager. Good luck and happy reading....
Just remember development has all your answers
Thank you for your help.
I am currently running Calkulins ROM via Mobile ODIN.

I'm running a stock rooted T-Mobile G2 Gingerbread ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1314541) and I just noticed that I no longer have field test available to me (fieldtest.apk / fieldtest.odex). I tried checking some other stock G2 Gingerbread ROMs and none of them had it either. I checked a Froyo ROM and that did have it. So, this brings me to two questions essentially:
1. Does anyone know why "they" seemed to have gotten rid of the field test app?
2. Does anyone know how I could get a working version of field test on gingerbread?
What I've tried so far is taking the fieldtest.apk and trying to install it...the installation failed. I then realized that the app doesn't get "installed" like other apps and then tried placing it and the .odex file in /system/app using Root Explorer, but it was not able to launch.
If anyone has any ideas or suggestions I'd be interesting in hearing them. The reason why I would like the field test back is because I used to used to determine which ARFCN I was on when on 2G networks. I could not find an app in the market that would do this...I've found an arfcn calculator, but that doesn't tell me what arfcn I'm on. Network Info II doesn't tell me this either, although it is a nice app with other good info. Thanks.
I guess I'm retarded but after hours of searching, bricking, restoring, and trying all over again, I can't figure out how to root my phone. I just want to be able to tether now that sprint has blocked foxfi. Can anyone make a suggestion? SPH-D710
Just use a one click package

Doesn't that mean you have to start from scratch? i.e. lose all you settings and apps?

Follow this video and you should be fine, qbking makes great videos having to do with E4GT
Thanks so much. yeah, I like his videos. I thought it wouldn't work at first but... I just gotta learn to read better after being up all night! Question, does this reset the phone?
is there some nifty rom that might be better that has tethering enabled? Since I'm going to have to start from scratch anyways....
Btw with a one click no data package you jeep all if your apps and data for those apps. Its best though to wipe clean anyways. Less problems. Blue kuban rom is pretty nice

Many roms already have the hacked 3g hotspot in them just read the OP of whichever rom you want to make sure. I'm not sure if this resets all data but if your going to switch roms you could try the goodness rom or black rom easily found in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=1284
You can also try the re-calked rom
I Googled and Googled and Googled and here is my last resort. I know the thing keeps resetting when you open up the camera. I'm on a custom touchwiz rom 4.3 . Super annoying how I gotta keep manually resetting it. And no, the TouchWiz Camera is the best and there are no others like it so I do not plan on using any 3rd party app. Is there any fix to this?
I am trying to figure out a solution to this aswell.
Would be nice if there was a easy solution or if a developer could make a flashable zip that just removes them completely.
