The only thing I want to know:
- How is the battery life ! This is important for such a huge screen.
- Is there any 30 fps cap like in the EVO:
http://www.engadget.com/2010/07/09/htc-says-evo-4gs-30fps-cap-on-video-output-cant-be-increased/
Most probably this is no 30 fps cap because it does not have HDMI out.
Too bad, there is no front facing camera
Will definitely be upgrading to this device if it turns out to be as good as it is made out to be
It really is sexy but I think the Win7 phone that was leaked is even prettier! I just wish the Desire HD was unibody
it is unibody as legend...cant get more 'uni' from it...
still, this phone is way to big for a phone, if i want portable tv ill get that...
It looks terrible IMO. Why can't they make a more powerful version of the legend with similar aesthetics?
I'd also miss the real buttons. I like the click and touch wouldn't be the same.
I think this phone looks sexier. Shame about the Windows
It is soo interesting device for two reason, big screen and more internal memory (4 GB), but i dont know why they mount normal lcd... i love amoled display...
It's an ugly piece of junk that's for sure. All those (what I believe to be) rubberised sections just throw the whole aesthetics out of the window. Needless to say I won't be upgrading. 1. Because I can't afford it and locked into a contract and 2. because it's pig ugly.
I feel buyers remorse no longer.

there are many times when im sure a wide angle lens can come in handy. the lens of the stock camera is rather narrow.
i know i wouldnt mind a wider lens anyways, or rather the option of one
If you have a loupe (The magnifying lens used for inspecting jewlery), that can be used as a macro lens easily.
I've noticed that the stock htc camera is bad for taking photos
when i had Acer liquid with acer stream camera photos quality was really good
now i'm asking: is a software issue or what? also liquid with stock camera was bad,but only changing the application, the quality was a lot better
any suggestion? which parameters do you use with desire ? ( like saturation, brightness, iso etc)
Attacched photos to see differences ( sorry aren't 100% the same but you can notice the difference)
Just to know (I have pretty the same problem).
Try to make a photo without the back cover.
mmm tried but didn't noticed difference...
you noticed difference without backcover??
Camera indeed sucks. So what other camera applications are available?
Retro Camera and FX Camera. Those are not really for replacement.

Yes, I can clearly see the difference with and without the cover. Especially when making videos but also with photos.
Would be great to port camera from other devices.. also the google camera ( source camera) is better as i saw.. is possibile to port to all roms?
the camera of acer stream is awesome with awesome settings, but don't know if will be possible to ort to desire..
You right! without back cover there is a very visible difference!
Why this and how to solve?
Here you can see the difference with and without the backcover. For me, it's because of the plastic used for the lens. It spoil out using the phone with time.
You can try to remove the plastic or replace the cover. I have not found a good solution yet. For now... I just remove the cover when needed (thanks god I don't make a lot of photos)

a friend of mine was at a clockmaker. He just drills out the plastic cover and glues a saphire-glass in, now its a scratch free and HQ camera cover. Costs are around 20 Euro including work (it lasts 10 Minutes). But you need and old-style clock-maker with its own repair-shop.
I like Vignette alot. Well worth the money, really professional-ish look & feel to it.

too difference! i think there will be a way to solve this problem,is inammissible for htc to made these things
someone has home-made solution working?
Or for 20 € I've found a battery cover replacement.
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=199270
But it's brown or silver . And it will get scratched in no time, like in the original one. Brian's solution is definitive.
Have you tried cleaning really well on the inside, as well on the outside ? Mine is a bit scratched too, but I can't see much difference when taking photos. (can you ? http://picasaweb.google.com/101504838761028525419/CoverOnCoverOffCleanedCoverLens?feat=directlink)

aint that using the same plastic cover??
Mine aint scratched but I still notice a different without cover so replacing it with glass seems to be only option other then removing cover everytime you wanna take a pic/vid.

Your pictures seem much more to what I am experiencing taking photos. Hardly(if any) difference cover on or off. I did notice there isn't a lot of color in your pictures.
Tbh, I don't think having a tiny smudge on the cover affects the quality that much as andycted demonstrated. The real limitation is that after all, its a phone camera.
Try using different camera app's with some image-enhancing effects. I recommend Vignette, try it out!

I'm inside, in a very drab cloudly light coming from the window. Indeed the default settings for the camera (stock froyo) lack a bit of saturation, I forgot to set it to +1.
I remember noticying quite a lot of difference and thinking that since my protector is scratched, that was the cause. Turns out it was greasy on the outside, as well as the inside, as I remove the cover every other day to change battery
EDIT: I've added a couple of shots with +1 and +2 saturation and one where the autoflash went off

For me, also your pics lacks of shaprness. You'll notice it better with hi-def images.
just bought Vignette to see, I think is great apllication and take better photos than stock camera
There are a lot of optimization and i really like it
try this out!

I didn't take the pain to change the settings, or to take great pics, it's a chair and a bottle ! it was just in order to compare lens on/off photos, in every day conditions and the difference isn't all that great. My lens is scratched too.
Stock camera is ugly to see, dodgy in some stuff, but has a ton of functionality. I can't, even remotely, be called a photographer, but I had some fun while going for a walk some minutes ago.

The sky was very grey and light quite dim, so I tried to play with exposure and saturation, burning the sky and pretty much everything else in the process. A couple shoots aren't bad though. Try to guess which are with and without lens cover hehe.
So I decided to bring along the GN on a fishing trip at the Colorado River, just to see what it was capable of. Now, I'm not a great photographer, (you can see my finger in one of the pictures), but I played around with the exposure, scene, and zoom settings, and I took pictures at different times of the day to see how the camera would react to different lighting scenarios.
It seems the camera is able to handle shadows and sunlight in the same picture fairly well, but when looking toward the sun there is noticeable discoloration and glare, and when fully zoomed in, the picture loses a lot of its quality (duh).
I think for a cellphone camera, these pictures are great, and while is won't replace a dSLR or a point and shoot, it's definitely adequate for the quick shot.
Let me know what you think.

not bad, not bad at all. i believe most of the complaints have been around low light environments and motion pics.
They tend to always fare well outdoors
Nice pictures, beautiful place- so jealous that you can just take " a trip to the Colorado river"

I was thinking the Same
"A trip to the Mersey" has a depressingly British ring to it
They look great to me. I wish I was fly fishing for trout! Was that in AZ?
I've read it's best to not point digital cameras at the sun as the optic sensor could become damaged.
Lovely. I cant see what people really expect from a phones camera.
You cant have it all, If you would be ok with a 250gr heavy and 50mm thick nexus, it would be taking amazing 12 MP photos
You have to choose between "slightly better photos, smaller screen and no freedom at all" and "bigger screen, faster and slimmer phone, and full of freedom"

Yeah, this was in AZ, by Lee's Ferry if you're familiar with the area.
I figured a quick shot wouldn't completely mess it up so I decided it was worth the risk to see how it would handle it. Maybe not the best idea, but oh well.

That's what I was thinking. I've yet to get up there but I may have to do it soon.
Very nicely done! And nice catch!
Okay, so I know no one likes the look of themselves when they catch glimpse of their face in selfie mode when you first open an app like Snapchat or front-facing cam is already activated when you go to take a pic etc, but, wow, I feel like a monster when I see how I look using the Note 7.
Arm fully stretched out and the pics/video look great, but why is it so disgustingly distorted up close? My head looks so long and weird. I know front-facing cams have always had a little distortion, but I've never experienced it this bad before (coming from 9 years of iPhones and brief flings with a Galaxy Note 1 and a LG G3).
Can anyone explain why? Will any of us have an ounce of self-esteem left after a few weeks of use?! lol
Sorry to say but you might just be ugly.
If i recall correctly there's a "beauty" setting that change the way your face looks, maybe it's on and you just don't like how it changes it ?

Don't get me wrong, holding the phone with arm fully extended to take a selfie produces great results (with or without settings changed). I'm talking about when it's close to the face. The lens makes things look really out of shape. Never seen anything like it on a phone before.

I think because it is a wide angle lens so the edges of the camera lens makes you look a little weird. That's less so the case with the portion of the image that's more centered. Is the entire image distorted or only the edge portion of it?
mines super wide to what im accustomed too. Looks silly
Try to put your face in the middle of the camera, not near the edges.... Everything near the edges will look a little distorted since the camera is spheric and the image is a square, so thats just a weird effect.
When you use other apps that take 4:3 pictures you won´t notice this distortion because you are not using the edges of the camera, it will only happen in 16:9 pictures.
Basically every phone nowadays. Every one wants a wider selfie camera but don't realize wide lenses have a big byproduct. DISTORTION.
EVERYONE WANTS A WIDE ANGEL CAMARA. NOT SURE YOU KNOW EVERYONE, but if that was true then every one is an dumb *as. Wide angel is for scenery to shoot landscape not to point at once face and look like a blower fish.
My phone is useless with this wide angel camera and the idiots at Google messed up since the camera app was supposed to correct the image but doesnt work. SO we should be asking for a recall and a refund, but we are so stupid that we just deal with it. THis is a defect people. I have go pro with wide angel camera and my face doesnt look like long or fat head. COMPLAIN PEOPLE AND GET A REPLACEMENT OR A YOUR MONEY BACK> I"m a professional photographer, so I'm telling you. You all got scammed
