Case Recommendations

Hi,
What case do people recommend to keep their Orbit safe? I'm stuck between the Krussell (which I have protected phones with before) , a silicon case (ebay item number 160068404562) or PDA Leather Flip Case (ebay 160068463414).
I'm tempted for the silicon as you still have easy access to the screen , but welcome any other ideas.

Before reading your question, I was not aware of the existance of a silicon case for this model. Now I've looked it up at Ebay and am also interested. A couple of months ago I bought a silicon case for my mp3 player (different brand though, ZCover) and am very pleased with it. So far however, the seller seems only to ship within the UK. I have just asked him by email if he is able to ship abroad, no answer yet.
Update: he does sell abroad. Apparently he has more than one item on Ebay, all about this case but with different shipping methods. Anyway, I just ordered a black silicon case, due to arrive later this week. I will let you know.

i have the PDAIR flip case and am very pleased with it. i prefer it to a silicon type as it gives the screen more protection.

I agree that a flip case does give more protection, especially to the screen, but isn't it annoying when actually making a call? I presume you don't take the phone out of the case before calling. To me it looks rather silly. NOFI.

Have a look for the aluminium (on ebay, under artemis/p3300) case for the artemis as I have just ordered one and hope it is a good fit for the orbit?

Not massively protective but the slipcase supplied with the 8oGB ipod is a perfect fit. I'm using it just now to avoid scratches until i find a good screen protector and silicon case.

has your aluminiun case arrived, How much extra bulk does it add, as I'm thinking of getting one. I already have a black silicone case which is very good, and a very tight snug fit, but no protection for the screen. If the aluminium one is not to big, then I would sell my silicone case.

Yes my aluminium case came through the same day as my last post and it does not add much bulk to the device. The only issue I have had with it is the stylus is covered slightly so to remove it you have to open the case and slide the phone up slightly. Apart from that great case would recommend highly to all those in need of a case. My case came in a Pdair box so I assume it is made by them?

I also have the leather PDAIR flip case and my only criticism is that it extends a little to much toward the sides of the base of the screen so that I must angle the stylus a bit at the edges.

I just had a look at the aluminium cases sold on Ebay but they don't seem to have protection for the screen as well? How is that different then?
Just like you, I ordered a silicon case last week and it arrived a couple of days later. I'm pleased with it, pretty tight fit, better grip, no chance anymore of scratching the camera lens when the phone is on it's back, and all the required openings are exactly on the right spot. Indeed, the only thing left is the absence of protection for the screen, but I don't carry the phone in a pocket together with keys or coins.

The aluminium case has a plastic screen in it to protect the orbit. You have to open the front cover to use the touch screen.
All of which is not a problem as I would advise anyone with a phone of this quality to purchase a screen protector ASAP.
I didn't use my orbit till my protector came through the post.

I spoke to the lady in the O2 shop in Swindon about cases, she said that O2 will be releasing some Orbit specific ones in the next couple of weeks.
I have my fingers crossed.

The slightly scratched, fingerprint smeared and dusty state of my just-over-a-week-old Orbit screen would probably give you a heart attack then! Screen protectors don't come cheap, £10 for little sheets of sticky plastic... selotape is under £1 a roll! I'll just use some of that!

Has anyone on their internet travels come across a vertical leather pouch/holster for the Artemis that has a belt clip?
Something like this:

Just want something that can be attached to a belt and the Artemis slid into and out of - not for use in the actual case.
Must be vertical and minimal size (ie designed for the Artemis and no larger).

Krusell Vertica with Multidapt® - S-Wide

Selotape aside I'll almost certainly be going for http://www.pielframa.net/pielframa_productos.asp?id=1685 (mentioned on the other case thread) if I ever bother getting a case... can't beat something made-to-measure!

Just got myself a Piel Farama in black for my Jasjam. Looks very good and high quality but certainly requires getting a bit used to as each time you have to open the flap and fold it all the way back to get a hold of the device to take or make a call.

Thanks Moleshome - that is exactly what I am looking for except my only concern (as with all "multi" cases) is that it will not fit it nicely and/or be the smallest possible case for the dimensions of the p3300. I can't think it fits all of the listed "compatible" models perfectly and I don't know if the Artemis would be in that category.
Anyone bought this particular case? Experiences?

Got my Piel Frama case today - it fits the Orbit well despite being designed for the P3300 (sharper corners).
Overall a beautifully crafted case which I will probably return as it won't let me store a credit card in the flap. My last case for the XDA Mini was a Krusell - hope they bring out an Orbit sepcific case soon....

No good for spontanous gprs internet shopping on the go then?
I dropped an email to see if I could get one for review, fingers crossed otherwise I'll have to fork over some mulah or see what my birthday holds. (I've been a games/tech journalist for a while, which is nice)
Would be interesting to get a comparison of the Krusell and Piel cases, and maybe something a bit more on the minimalistic size. I'll see what I can do, but neither are contacts I've dealt with before.

Which hard case would you recommend?

I much prefer slim hard cases, typically seidio brand. I can't seem to find a good alternate. Quality is much more important to me than price. What do you guys suggest?

I'm on my fourth case and they all suck. One scratches the phone. One turns it off when I'm not looking. One fits too loosely, and one got all dirty the first day.
I'm going to buy this one next in silver. I like the fact that it looks like there's really no case and it got good reviews on the case mate site. I'll let you know how I like it if you want.

I've been using my case-mate tough case ever since they came out with them, and I can't speak highly enough about the quality and fit.

I tried this case in silver and sent it back. I found that it degraded my phone signal. Of course, AFTER I buy it I do some searching and find other complaints on the silver cases for various phones.

I haven't noticed any issues with the silver barely there case that I just got. But as far as protection goes, probably not the best one for this thread's request.
I also have a tough case, which I highly recommend for anyone looking for a solid case for protection.

Case-mate tough case is great, as someone allready stated I cannot recommend it strongly enough. You won't find a better case for the money or more imo

What about the body glove case? I was looking at that one for a hard case. What do you guys think about it? Anyone use it?

I have a body glove case and frankly it leaves alot to be desired. The case easily doubles the thickness of the phone, and with out fail turns out my jean pockets every time I use it. I'm not sure if i got a bad case or what but the case does not seal properly all the way around the phone. I have had the misfortune of dropping my case from table height (appx 3ft high) and the body glove case did protect the phone wonderfully. I have the full black and chrome case, not the clear back shell. I am in the process of deciding on a different case and thus far I am heavily leaning towards the case-mate tough case.

Mesh case. Love it... every other case makes a thin phone too large.

Hope that doesn't happen with the one I just ordered. But everything else you say about the case sounds great to me. I don't know how many times I have almost dropped the phone from it slipping out of my hands while pressing the volume or power buttons. Do the black Case-Mate cases have a rubberized feel to them?

My vote is for the bodyglove case. I have been through 4 cases and this far is my favorite. It protects gives the extra bulk and looks slick. It also has a kick stand which I use all the time.

Case Mate tough case for me. Silicone inside prevents scratches and tough plastic outside offers some protection from falls.

Here is a couple pics of the body glove in action. By the way it protects well I have dropped it a couple of times and the case comes apart instead of the phone breaking. I dont know how you wear your phone but I slide the phone in my pocket with the clip sticking out.

Got the TPU case, good fit, but feels cheap. Got the mesh case, looks decent but not much protection. Got tired of waiting for Otterbox. Almost got the CaseMate Toughcase but they only come in black or pink. Then I came across this last week. Check out the plugs and the buttons, even the back camera has clear cover over it. Liked the attention to details so pre-ordered it. According to the website, they're being shipped this Wednesday 11/17. Since I'm new, I can't post the link, here are some photos of the product. Just google Trident Cyclops Samsung Vibrant. Be sure to "Like" them on Facebook to save the $6.00 shipping. I wish ElementCase would make an ION3 or Liquid Carbon for Vibrant. I have a case that I bought from daydeal.com, its a hybrid case made from hard plastic on the back and soft tpu on the sides, it pretty good.

I got my silver case mate barely there and it is awesome. I guess it is more of a looks than protection thing, but the front of the case is over the bezel so when the phone is face down there's still a gap. The silver is really good looking. Case mate also sent it the day I ordered, and I got it from GA to CA in 3 days.

Are you sure it wasn't just a coincidence? The complaints were about the chrome, not the metallic silver. I haven't seen anything, and my phono widget says the signal is as strong as ever.

It's hard plastic with a rubbery feel. It's smooth enough to slide into my pocket and not pick up lint, but sticky enough that it can sit on my center armrest in the car without worrying about it sliding off.
There's also about a 1/16th inch high border around the screen that does a good job of keeping down any chance of a drop resulting in the screen touching anything the ground.

Figures!!! The upper left corner of the body glove case doesn't want to keep closed. I just sent an email to the seller for a refund. I'm thinking of just getting a extended battery with a rubberized back cover, and a new pouch to fit it.

Yea that's why I have the casemate now, hopefully you didn't order it on ebay there was this one seller that I bought it from and he would not repond to my messages about the case, also my bodyglove case won't stay closed at all anymore. I just think their quality control isn't all that great.
The tough case feels like abs plastic and is textured so it doesn't catch on pocket lining when you pull the phone out your pocket but it still feels good ib your hand and doesn't feel like its going to slout og your hands

It came in and it fits perfectly, its slightly rubberized feeling so its grippy and its slim. I tested it and it works in a pocket without sticking to the pocket liner.
The nicest thing I like is that the graphics are several layers deep, giving it an interesting depth to it. Ill try to take some pics with my Tbolt of her Tbolt in the case.
Not bad for 6 bucks. The only drawback I noticed but she does not care about is that some of the graphics of the front and back piece do not line up perfectly on the seam.
I also ordered her another similar case but more flowery. Ill post when that comes in.

I bought a solid black one from the same seller. It is a nice case for the price. Looks good and appears to be good quality. Only time will tell if it begins to peel.

im so torn over whether to use a case on this or not. if it had gorilla glass i wouldnt care.

Being a 2 piece case, how well does it hold together from a fall? If it landed on its edge is it going to pop open?

Hard to tell. I don't want to drop it and test it for obvious reasons.
But it does snap together pretty well and its not terribly easy to open it back up and take it off.
Here are a few pictures of the second case I ordered for her from Amazon. This one looks even better than the other. And it snaps the same, front/back, but it feels a little less sturdy. It does not snap as strongly as the other.

Here are two pics of the two pieces of the case.
Power button opening is quite large so my entire thumb pad fits well and the button is not obstructed at all.
I have no idea on name for finish, they are rubberized plastic. So they are grippy on the outside and won't slip. But they are smooth plastic on the inside. Also, its not grippy to where it clings to pocket liners, its fine in my jeans and in my khakis and suit for work.
I just need to find one I like for myself now. Maybe something like this:

man that case on ebay is vibrant! I went for the hard/rubberized case from the same seller. figure if i dont like it or it beaks after a few months im only out 6$

Very nice case indeed

TPU (or Thermoplastic polyurethane) is like silicone, except much sturdier and glossier. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Thermoplastic_polyurethane
I got the shell/holster combo from VZW and I love it. It is slim and grippy.

Ordered my case yesterday. Got it today. That person don't mess around. Damn good case for the price too. I got the rubberized black one. Had to graba Sharpe and mark the inside edges black, cause they were showing white when clipped together.
This thing will stay together for a few falls. Can't beat it for this price.

1st complaint
I removed the case for the first time today. I used a penny in the access slot on te side and it chipped away some of the black. I had to use a sharpie to fill it in so it wouldnt be so obvious.

[Q] Barely There-type case for the Samsung Captivate

So it looks like Case-Mate does not make a Barely There type case for the Samsung Captivate. Are there any other good similar options out there?

incipio feather is similar...but its less flexible

For a truly "barely-there" experience, I've just installed a screen protector. Voila!

I used to use what noma_pride mentioned above and was quite happy until recently. The full body skins tend to peel up from the edges and eventually dull overtime requiring replacements which can become quite annoying.
IMO I found no case/skins best. I found these jackets made from microsuede from sfbags.com and they are awesome! Check them out http://www.sfbags.com/products/cellphonecases/cell-phone-cases.php

I personally like the flexible cases that body glove makes. The AT&T store sells this one, but I would not recommend getting it from them. Much cheaper through ebay. I had a hard case that snapped on, but found it covered up the sides and bottom too much. It affected dragging apps from main screen to other screens because you couldn't get your finger far enough to the side for the screens to scroll. Also I purchased a spare battery with battery charger and it was a pain to unsnap the case and swap batteries when I needed to. I have dropped mine with the body glove and phone still looked perfect. I am sure a hard enough drop would still be able to damage it though. The only thing about the body gloves that I think suck is only comes in black or pink.

I have a silicon case I bought in the mall (don't recommend that but I needed one as the lady one broke), and it's awesome. It's a harder silicon that still moved, and grips the phone like a condom. Our was made by an off brand, but I'm sure you can find it easily in any mall or online shop

I think TPU cases are the best. They aren't "barely there" cases but the closest providing all the proctection you need. Price is a plus too. Try searching tpu in ebay

1mm ultra thin case - video

Has anyone bought or tried this case? in looks very interesting as its so thin it may be comparable to buying something like the Bodyguardz skins without the hassle of sticking that stuff on.

i've got one. its about 0.5mm thick in some parts, so the only thing its good for is protecting the phone's body from scratches. it offers no drop protection, and no camera protection, and its not grippy either.
i prefer my ringke slim case and my anymode pebble jelly case, theyre grippy and dont add much bulk, and offer decent protection for the corners of the phone (if you drop your phone, its more likely to land on a corner) and it goes slightly over the edges of the screen, so if your phone does land face first, the glass is less likely to touch the ground, making it less likely to shatter.

Thanks Souai, I had the ringke for my galaxy s2 and i found that after a while it started stretching out and not fit the phone properly. The reason why im so keen on these ultra thin ones is more as an alternative is the skin shields. ill check out the pebble case though.

i have the Original Moshi Back Cover for my Note. man the Grip is awesome! really! i mean i have the white Note and u know the white Note has different back cover than the Black one. its so shinny and slippery! but this Moshi cover gives me the real grip! got that for about Rs 5000 (approx US $ 54), but its worth the money!

$54 seems a a lot for a case, the 1mm is just $4 including delivery.

lol 5000 INR is not 54$ its more than 100$ to my knowledge and also that for a case is too much IMHO...
Anyway I would have bought one if it was sold from Amazon . Looks nice

I ordered some from ebay (the seller sold them in pairs) - one was cracked from the start and unusable, and the other was slightly warped from being stuffed in the padded envelope. I found them to be not very grippy, and the cut-out for the m/usb was quite sharp, and being as I rest the Note on my little finger when I hold it one-handed, painful!
Hope you have better luck than I did - I just use the Note bare-back now!

Every time i buy a new phone get into a mad rush to buy cases for it, i use them for a week or two then ditch them because I prefer to use the phone bare, i'll probably do the same as you Towserspvm2000, but at below 3 quid a pop im not going to be losing out on much if it is crappy.

Just got this case from China. I like it. Simple and almost like it is bare. Only issue is the buttons are a little harder to push. But not a deal breaker. This is my third case. thinnest and the lightest. Not bad for $4US. Just got to make sure I don't drop it. More for scratch protection than anything.
