While using the camera to take pictures the phone will occasionally freeze and reboot.
I've had this problem for about a month and it doesn't matter which camera app I use and it happens in both RCmixS and MIUI so I don't think it's a ROM specific issue.
It didn't happen before i rooted and I don't think I experienced this before I flashed the CM7 HBOOT but I don't see how the HBOOT version would affect the camera.
Any ideas?

Try upgrading your radio to a 5.17.xx.xx one.... should fix your problem.
Here's a link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=687464&highlight=radio
Thanks, will flash it as soon as I get back home and give it a day or two to see if it stabilizes

I do have 5.17.05.08 and it also occasionally freezes and reboots. This must be connected somehow by android 2.3 roms, as on Froyo roms the problem does not happen.
Sent from my HTC Desire using Tapatalk
Flashed 5.17.05.23 and it actually seems to be working, been taking pictures like crazy tonight just to provoke a freeze and nothing yet. Camera360 is working flawlessly now!
MIUI Camera still gives me the occasional FC's and crashed camera so I have to reboot to restore function, but no more "surprise reboots" today at least.
Let's just hope it stays that way

Only when i got the phone with the factory 2.2 ota update did it work. I have tried numerous roms to try and find one that gets rid of this issue. I open the camcorder app and it will run fine for 5 seconds, freeze then reboot. Phone was downgraded to 2.1 then rooted with unrevoked3. I have tried CM6, CM6.0.1/2 ans nightlies 94-97, Shadow rom, uncommonsense, jagerrom, virtuous, and a few others. no kernal updates. I never had issues with my moto droid any insight would be appreciated.
I had isues where the camera would freeze up, but no reboot, when i try to start the camera up again, my phone says it cant detect the camera, ruby 1.1.1 unrevoked3 + forever
Don't know if there is a correlation to the two, but they sound similar, did you try ruby 1.1.1?
yes i tried that too. just tried kings kernals too. same no matter what
Which radio are you running? "Phone was downgraded to 2.1" sounds like you might be running one of the 1.00 radios.
2.05 is what it says for baseband
Went to 2.15 seems to have fixed the issues.
I had the same problem with my old ROM and upgraded to Froyo 2.2f and still the phone hangs and restarts after i open the camcorder .... please if anyone knows how to solve the issue tell me ...

Update your radio.
When I use my GPS with Google Maps/Navigation it works for 3-5 mins and then it causes my phone to reboot
Maps without GPS work fine though so it seems to be a problem with GPS
Is anyone else having this problem?
I am using the latest release of the Oxygen Rom (1.3) with 32.44.00.32U_5.09.05.30_2 Radio
I also had the same problem in LeeDroid 2.2?
Is it more likey to be a hardware problem that a Radio/Rom issue?
maybe you should try and flash another radio before, so you can tell if it is a hardware issue.
Upgraded Radio to 32.49.00.32U_5.11.05.27
Still same problem.
So I changed to the Stock Froyo Sense Rom 2.29.405.5
Problem still exists ...... any ideas?

Sounds like a hardware issue. RUU then warranty?
Install GPS Status app from market. Make GPS Satus wipe A-GPS data and download the new data.
Running GPS Status now see if that fixes it.
But also getting a new one delivered tomorrow from Orange
This will be my 4th Desire I've had in 7 months think I might just get rid of it?
Question is do i stick with Android or go for Windows Mobile or even an iPhone my friends havent had any problems with theres
Still getting reboots must be faulty HW sending back to Orange thanks for your help and advice
maybe it is the wisest move!!!

I also have the same problem however I suspect for me it is the Simeji keyboard that's been crashing and rebooting my Desire.
I'm using Reflex S 2.1.5 rom with radio: 32.56.00.32U_5.17.05.08.
Last time it crashed I was using Simeji in Colornote and then tried to open alogcat but it forced closed so I tried to open it again then it rebooted. I'm gonna try to replicate what I did to see if they're the culprits.
Update: Managed to crash my phone twice. Alogcat was the one crashing my phone. That's not very helpful since I was trying to use it to find out what was crashing my phone the first time prior to installing alogcat. How frustrating.

Hi, My first desire which was not rooted had a similar problem. It would just switch off on its own. This was caused by a faulty motherboard and had nothing to do with radios, kernel or the like. My suggestion would be to make a nand backup and then flash a completely stable kernal, rom etc and then run that with little to no apps installed. If it keeps restarting its unlikely to be a kernel, rom or software issue. Hope that helps
Can anyone suggest a stable RADIO/ROM configuration? Please ?
Hello,
at first sorry for my bad english, I hope u could understand
This is my Desire:
MIUI 1.7.1 - Android 2.3.4
Eng S-Off
Hboot 0.85.2007
Radio 26.08.03.07_M
Baseband 12.35d.60.140fp
Kernel 2.6.35.13-LorDmodUE-V5.0
My problem is, that BT doesn't work for me! I turned it on...after a few seconds the switch returns back into off position.
I tried everything, full wipe, wipe script, etc...
I rooted my DHD out of the box, so I don't know if it worked in the beginning! I never used BT before, but now I got a BT Car Radio...and now I need it of course! I thought the problem is the Radio maybe, so I tried to flash the Revolution Rom with the corresponding Radio...but it still don't work!
Any suggestion for that problem?
No ideas??
Update everything in your DHD. MIUI 1.7.15 already out there, use recommended radio 12.54.60.25_26.9.4.11_M2 and also fresh LordModv6.1cfs/bfs kernel.
Sent from my HTC Desire HD using XDA App
EDIT: latest MIUI 1.7.22 and the radio above is my preferred radio
flashed your preffered radio and lordmod 6.1 cfs...but it still dont work
Wiped everything, also formated the hole sd card
Logcat says :
Bt_enable_impl : timeout vor hci device to come up
Whoa, there's no need to wipe out the whole sd card! Hmmm, I'm feeling guilty right now. Okay, usually changing the mix of kernel does the trick though. Have you tried to revert to stock rom?

I have the same problem when my battery is over 80%. If I restart my phone after the battery drops below 80% then my bluetooth turns on. I am running Cyanogen 7 nightly with LordModUE 6.3 and radio .09.04.11.

No problem mate...I thought that could not actually be the problem...but that was my last hope so I wanted to exclude all possibilities! I have backuped everything before formatting, so do not worry...
I tried the Revolution Rom with corresponding kernel/radio...also without success...i will now try the stock rom...
did you try using another radio?
it could also be hardware related
So, I have HTC Desire with rooted MIUI rom for a while.
HTC Desire, GSM, MIUI 2.1.6
It was okay until 5th January. I have about 25 installed apps and anything was fine. Few days ago I noticed strange "Force stop" in apps like Twitter, Foursquare, Internet Browser.
Then the same started to happen with random restarts of the phone. The phone simply started, then restarted and entered into bootscreen loop, so I ejected battery and inserted and so on. Clearing Dalvik Cache doesn't help.
Also when I try to enter Wi-Fi settings it freezes and gives out "Force close application?" That's just ridiculous!
I have lately updated from previous MIUI version 2.1.4 because that problem started there, but with no changes.
Can you please help here?
i have always faced similar issues with MIUI , my phone doesnt like it
so i have simply stopped using it
edit: if you still want to use MIUI id suggest you stick with a stable version for a while rather than weekly updates
Well, it really might be like that. Seems like I fixed those issues by doing a full phone wipe and fresh flash. Which release can you suggest me?
Wich releases did you try before ?
Sent from my HTC Desire using XDA App
I have MIUI on mine and flash each update. The biggest issue I have is that it tries to update and always fails with an E:\SDCard error in recovery. I just download and then flash the full rom (no wipes) and it works a treat. The one issue I have with 2.16 is that SMS messages disappear below my 'Better Keyboard' where they didn't in the version prior. I've switched to Android keyboard now but have yet to see if the issue persists. That said, it is by far the most stable ROM I've ever used and I'm running 40+ apps on it with zero problems.

As far as it is, it looks fine. No big problems at all. The only issue is that I backed up 5000+ messages back to phone, I like to store them there. Sometimes seems like it is a little hard for android to hold so many sms's.
