Hello! I am using an Epic 4g running ACS Frozen 1.1.1
I am encountering issues on my wifi network when accessing webpages and other content (though particularly webpages). I have tried using the stock browser as well as alternatives (Dolphin HD).
This is a relatively recent issue and I had not encountered problems with my home network at all previously. Any help or suggestions at all would be appreciated. I'm sure i'm not providing all needed information so if you have anything else you need to know, just ask.
P.S: No other device has trouble utilizing the network.

Just suddenly understood your comment. Yes sir, yes I am.
Not sure if this is the same problem or not.
My WIFI shows as being connected even when it is not connected. Thus, it appears that I am connected but data is in fact NOT working.
I tested this by choosing an encrypted wifi connection in my neighborhood and entering a random password. To my suprise IT CONNECTED! Nope, not really. it just showed like it was connected, it really showed that I had connected to my neighbors encrypted WIFI- but when I opened the browser to navigate I got nothing. Fooled me.
Any ideas? Running SFR 1.2 with Genocide and EC05 baseband.

4G wireless tethering? If so what configuration are you running? Rom? Kernel? I use my tethering often, and not being able to tether 4g has been disappointing.

Using wireless tether? What version and what settings? I can never see the ssid broadcast even when I get no errors.

I have my phone set to epic 4g in device profile in wireless teather
And work outta box after that
I've used pdanet with no problem over 4g, but that requires a cord.

It only works in adhoc mode.
Download and ODIN this file
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1282415
Then download and ODIN this kernel
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1305099
And finally use CWM to flash this file and then wipe your Dalvik cache in the advanced menu of CWM
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1286236
Worked like a charm for me and is many more times reliable than Wireless Tether.

try it without encryption just use access control you have to authorize each device from the phone once but it at least keeps people from using your bandwidth.
it is adhoc only though so some devices can't connect (mainly other phones tablets ect computers and the like are ok)
im currently on starburst 1.95 with the included kernel but i've yet to find a rom it didnt work on for me anyway
that sprint hack would be awesome if it had 4g enabled also
Thanks guys. I didn't know Adhoc wouldn't show up on my android and blackberry, the two devices I was testing to see if it would catch my SSID. Fired up my laptop and there it was. Sucks there's no infrastructure mode at the moment and hope they can fix that soon.
install the sprint hack from the dev section for those times you need infrastructure mode.
its only 3g but better than nothing.
Not sure what is the problem, im on stock rooted with LosKernel, and im able to ot use the latest Wireless Teather, with 4G on.. I connected my ipodtouch3G to check if it works, and it does
what are this ad-hoc and infrastructure stuff?

But does 4G stay on? Every kind of tethering I've tried, wireless, hotspot, wired, 4G acts like it is authenticating, then disconnects. So you are really tetherd on 3G.

Why would i want to use the Sprint Hot Spot? if Wireless Tether works?
Just wanted to let you guys know that if you want to wireless tether with any ICS rom just install wireless tether beta 11. Go into settings and change device profile to "Samsung Galaxy Nexus CDMA" and voila you have infrastructure tether with 4g!
I would attach the apk but I can't seem to do it from my Prime so here is the link!

Thanks works perfectly!!!

No problem. I also needed to tether and couldn't use the ICS ROM either so I had to come up with a solution. I figured there were others out there in the same boat.

Do the GPS fix mentioned in the threads. You have to go back to the EL 29 ROM and get a GPS lock with maps. Then immediately go to recovery and nand restore your ICS ROM or just flash an ICS ROM and I promise you will get a lock. Sometimes it won't lock but if you turn off GPS and turn it back on it well lock immediately. It's like the wifi issue where I have to turn wifi off then back on in order for it to reconnect to a saved wifi connection. This sort of sucks but it's a reliable temporary fix.

I've only used this on Caulks ICS but I don't see why it wouldn't work on Mijahs since he uses Caulks as a base. Try uninstalling and reinstalling it.

Thank you for this. This was also the big reason why I went back to el29 lol! Time for round two of ICS
Edit: this does work with 3G as well right? You only mentioned 4G

i got mine to work using the following:
Samsung Epic Touch 4G
Ad-hoc in setup method
checked Routing fix
in my computer wireless settings i right clicked on the icon in network and sharing, selected wireless properties, configure, advanced tab and enabled adhoc.
of course i enabled the wifi encryption and created a password. for a secure dedicated connection
working perfectly fine using Blazer Rom 4.0!

Still need GPS? as in your on ICS and with FF18 modem and you cant get a GPS lock? If I'm right, Flash the EL29 modem and GPS lock should work. Thats what I had to do to mine to fix it and Its been great ever sense..
Hope that helps..
Is it possible to use wifi tether and 4G at the same time?
It seems like everytime I turn on my wifi tether, the phone downgrades to 3G?
I'm just using the stock wifi tether feature on AOKP Build 4.
The only wifi tether I have gotten to work properly on all roms is wireless tether for root users (its the yellow one) free on marketplace.
If it is still not working, change your profile in wifi tether app to galaxy nexus.

EDIT: Found direct link: http://code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether/
Hmm, I can't see the SSID from my laptop? I've tried using the Galaxy Nexus CDMA profile as well without success?
Also tried rebooting the phone?
The stock AOKP wifi tether still works fine, albeit in 3G

Google it, you'll find a link to be able to download it and sideload. Sprint blocks free tether apps on the market. You may also be able to get it from PC playstore and then to your phone, but finding it on Google and then sideloading is much simpler

What about USB tethering?
It appears that the instant you select a tether option 4g disconnects. This solution works for wifi (as i am submitting this post using it now), but using any of the AOSP ROMs appears to have the 4g tethering drop off issue.
Ultimately if I can't find something I'll just give in and spend the $$ on a usb wifi adapter.
I am only able to test on two wifi connections.
One gives me a "connectivity error" at all times, and the other cuts in and out and is not very stable. Mobile data is working fine. I am on a school network so I cannot reset the access points.
Any ideas?
No issues on wifi on my ion on xzx, tested on several wifi networks with no issues whatsoever.

I did when I first flashed the rom, and when I started noticing the wifi issues, I re-flashed it but no change.
I don't think it's the access points because a Motorola phone I have works fine on them, as well as my laptop and other wifi devices I have.
Would re-flashing the rom itself help anything?
It may solve it. Give it a try.

I found that it is most likely an issue with an access point in the building, so I filed a ticket with my school's IT and they said they will investigate.

I know the tethering topic has been covered before but I cant find anything that has the same issue as I am having. I am running Infamous 3.3 with the kernel it came with. I use to have it working with no problem. Now the wifi hotspot will connect to my computer but there is no data coming through the connection. I then flashed Infamous Google Edition 3 and same thing no data connect through the wifi hotspot. So I am back to Infamous 3.3 since now I know its not a rom issue. I also tried using Hotspot shield VPN on both roms. Any ideas?????

I am, and was using:
WiFi Tether version 3.3-beta2 and a vpn prior to flashing Infamous.
I tried the WiFi option on Infamous and had a similar issue as you. But others have no issues, so I'm not sure what the problem is.
I have had similar issues with other wifi tether set ups so it may be a user programming adjustment needed, etc.
Nevertheless, I've used the above Wifi Tether set up without issues, so I stay with it.. As is said, "If it Ain't Broke, Don't Fix it"
