Cm7 GPS - Wildfire Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Just installed cm7 on my wildfire however GPS is not working. How do I get it working (and how do i get the HTC ime back)
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

Reflash the radio. Radio can be found in the WildPuzzle thread (Or in my Index thread). Also, there's a thread in Dev having the HTC IME, which works on CM7. (No Enter key though)

Ok. Also how do I get the notification led working
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App

I don't know about 3rd party apps, but, Notification LED works fine for me. :/

Edit: the notifications was me being a idiot

Hi, today I did the same...and I've the same problem: GPS icon does not appear, i try to install Radio_13.55.55.24H_3.35.20.10 in recovery mode (recovery-clockwork-3.2.0.0), but it says "Amend scripting is no longer supported"
Where can I find a working package to fix GPS?
Thanks, kind regards.

Install ROM Manager (Or, it is already installed by default). Open it, Select "Flash ClockWorkMod Recovery". It will install CWM v2.5.0.7 on the SD Card. (Technique called FakeFlash). Then, select Reboot into Recovery from within ROM Manager. This will take you to recovery 2.5 which will support flashing the Radio.

Hi I've the same problem. I have latest CM7 stable build. I installed the latest 2.5 clockworkmod, and flashed the latest radio package. Still no GPS on my Wildfire Any ideas anyone?

Flash the radio package which ends with 19.25. Also, in CM7, you do not get the GPS Icon on the status bar as soon as you turn it on. Only when you open an app that actually uses it, will you get the icon. (Apps like Google Maps, Navigation Apps etc)

yep, that also surprised me
Do you know if there is actually a connection when the image is not shown? (when GPS is not used). Or will the battery only drain if some program is using the GPS? Meaning it would be okay to just leave the GPS option on all the time

I think it will still drain your battery out, even if you don't use an app and keep GPS on. I was testing it, and didnt get a lock in my location, so, closed Google Maps and kept the device as it is. But, the battery log showed the whole time as "GPS on"

Thanks 3xeno. 19.25 version radio worked for me. Strange, as it wasn't the latest!

hye my gps still not working..
i have try these steps 1. Go back to your stock froyo ROM turn on GPS and then open Google Maps. Let the GPS find you, wait for a few mins and then go back to your intended ROM after clearing and formatting the data. Have tried this method on 3 cells ( My friends were the victims!!!) and it worked perfectly!!
but the gps still cannot capture mylocation...
so what to do??
should i try flash the radio but my baseband version is already 20.10..

Reflash 20.10. Or, you can try 19.25 also. In some cases where GPS on 20.10 failed, it has been known to work with 19.25

yeah !! thanks...
flashing to 19.25 seems to solve the problem..

[Q] GPS not working

I just installed this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1458749 and my gps doesnt want to work anymore. when its turned on and google maps opened it doesnt even show the icon. i tried some other programs but gps wont work in them either.is there any way to fix this problem or i need to download another rom?and another question:is there any way to fix 2.3.7 android camcorder problem?
sorry for bad english!
This happens very often
You can try 3 things when this happens... like a month ago it happened to me S-FFing my Wildfire
Some people says that Flashing the last radio for the wildfire (3.35.20.10) solves the problem: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.com/wiki/HTC_Wildfire:_Support_Downloads its very easy but you need 25 or more battery when u start the process because if it does not finish u can brick your phone.
You can also try with this patch for the GPS, also makes it faster http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1447591 (x3 trunk Download the Google Specific) Just flash it
What it solved my GPS problem was to Install my original HTC Rom and activated my Gps, you should enter google maps and wait until finds you. leave the Gps enabled and restart your phone in recovery. Wipe everything (Data, cache) and install whatever Rom u want
I already have 3.35.20.10 radio and i already tried to flash agps patch but i havent tried last thing
It's slow and sporadic even with the fixes. The offset is usually at the same spot on my map.
another option is to create a nandroid backup the, flash a ROM with known working GPS, turn on the GPS on that ROM and let it get a fix on your position, leave the GPS on then reflash your backup. GPS should now work fine
Thanks arkoze and r30orozco!And is there any way to fix camcorder force close?

[Q] Radio issue, flashing does not help

Hi xda community, this is my first post here, although im am following the forums for a while now. I have also read similar threads, and googled for about 3 hours now, and still couldnt fix the following issue:
I installed CM7.1.0.1 on the standard HTC Wildfire, and the GPS doesnt work. the radio version was 3.35.20.10, and I downgraded it to 3.35.19.25 but still nothing. problem is i cant get the signal, and there is no satellite icon on the status bar. like nothing is happening. I reverted the radio to 3.35.20.10 but still nothing. what do you recommend? are there any special methods to fix the issue? I did it by downgrading the recovery to 2.0.5 or something and then istalled the zip from the sd card.
edit1: downloaded GPS Test (i am not advertising, some1 might find it useful) and got the icon on the status bar. ill go and test it, and will update the post.
edit2: seems to work, found 7 satellites in 3 seconds with GPS Test. turned off wi-fi, started a popular navi app, locked signal after few seconds. maybe ill set it to solved?
Long story short:
Downgraded Radio
Upgraded Radio
Downloaded and started GPS Test, outside
Found satellites, icon is also there
started a navi app, locked signal
Same problem, still no solution though...
I had, still have the same issue. And I have already tried all that you have done in vain...
Any one else had that issue?
Thanks
Flash a sense based rom, turn on GPS, open Google maps and leave it to get a good fix. Without changing anything pop out the battery and then reboot to recovery and either restore a Cm7 backup or flash the rom again.

Thanks. Trying that now...will edit after.
EDIT: Can't find a proper Sense based ROM. Tried REMPuzzzle but phone stuck on HTC Screen. Downloading DK CustomROM now... If anyone knows whether there is a safe flash Stock ROM around, please do tell. The link in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680 is dead.
FINAL EDIT
@saadislam and @LucidSomnia: I know, but when I said it takes time, I meant like over 2.5 hours, I think there might have been something wrong in the zip file.
Anyways thank you for all of you there in XDA Community for your support. I finally managed to sort it out by using Scratch0805's advice above and it works fine now.
**The only issue I got was to find a Sense-based ROM. Everything I tried either had an error, could not install, corrupted or took TOOOO LOOOONG to load. So here are the steps I have taken:
1. I used RUU to start over with a Stock ROM. [ available here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1275680&highlight=rom ]
2. Re-root [ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1145035 and/or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1365159&highlight=rooting+guide ]
3. Flash new Radio (20.10) since rooting goes back to 19.25 or 15.35.
4. Install and run GPS Test (on the Stock ROM)
5. Allow it to lock on couple of satellites.
6. Pop the battery out.
7. Boot into Recovery.
8. Use a Nandroid backup (or you could install a fresh one)
9. Enjoy GPS Working again!!!
Thank you again XDA Community!
Are you sure the radio was reflashed... I am saying this because when I tried to flash radio via recovery, it completed and I reboot.. but Gps wasn't fixed.. I rechecked the radio version but it was the older one so basically radio wasn't flashed...
So I went on to flash via flashboot.. this time all process was completed and Gps worked fine afterwards...
Radio version 20.10 is the one which has always worked for me...
And one thing more.. Rempuzzle Rom takes time to load first time...

[Q] Help: Gps not working as it should.

Hey guys,
My gps isn't working accurate.
First off it worked pretty good but when I changed to a custom rom (android revolution Hd) it didn't anymore.
When i use google maps, it takes a damn long time to get a fix on my position and when it does it stays accurate for about 5 seconds and then it starts to change to a street next to me then to another side... etc. . Also when i am standing still it jumps for my location to 50meters ahead of me and behind me, changing my speed to 20km/h ... I think you get the problem. Also the same problem on navigon (navigation software) it is constanly rerouting me because of the inaccurate position. So its not an application issue.
I flashed the rom as it should be, with boot.img through fastboot and zip file in cwm. Except for the gps there are no other issues.
Then i flashed the original rom in cwm with boot.img in fastboot, still the same problem.
I then tried CM10 and it became even worse... every 20 seconds it gave me a position update in maps and with navigon there wasn't even a update because it couldn't get a fix.
And i also used fasterfix on every rom except the original one (not rooted) to set my gps to europe.pool.ntp.org or something like that...
Now i am trying to revert to android revolution HD but first my battery has to be charged above 10% and it goes damn slow because of the bricked boot (made a mistake while changing form CM10 to And rev HD) Can't flash the and rev HD yet but does somebody in the meantime know a solution ?
Somebody ??
Could it be a problem with the kernel ? because i didn't flash one separatly
Does somebody has a solution ?
Unfortunately, I also have the same problem with rom coredroid and igo primo aid to some expert please
thanks
I had the same issue when I moved from Stock to the Modaco Ir5 Vanilla ROM, my GPS didn't even go as far as finding my location inaccurately, it didn't work at all. Hence I couldn't use my maps/navigation.
I am now running the Slim Bean ROM and everything is working great. I am no expert, but have you always done the usual 'full wipe data > clear cache partition > clear Dalvik cache' while flashing new ROMs?
For your charging issue, maybe try this? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1646135
My phone is now allright but you i'll try the rom you are speaking about and see if the gps works better.
and... Also tried another kernel (eternity) but it still didn't work
I had this issue and had it fixed after sending my phone to service 3 times.
The first time they only did a reset, didn't help.
Second time they changed the wifi, GPS module, didn't help.
I sent them a recording of the problem on the third time. This time they changed the motherboard and it finally got fixed.
Remember to tell them that the issue is specially visible when GPS and WiFi are both on.

[Q] Problem JellyTime 4.2.2 on HTC DHD

Hi everyone!
I have problem with JellyTime on HTC DHD.
First I install JellyTime 4.2.2R7 into phone. The bluetooth not working.
After then I re-install JellyTime 4.2.2R9. The bluetooth ok, but gallery can't play video. Error text "Can't play this video"
--> Finally I re-install JellyTime 4.2.2R8. But the same, can't play video (open a video, waiting a long time and it still not working)
I also wiped cache and data and flash again.
Can everyone show me resolve this problem. Thanks so much!

Hi,
I installed JellyTime 4.2.2 R8 a few days ago and never tried to play a video file on it before seeing your message.
I just put an .mp4 (720p) on my DHD and opened it with the integrated Google video player. Everything seems to be fine for me on that point. I can go forward and backward without any lag.
I tested also 3gp files, recorded with the camera and it works fine as well.
If you do it another way, could you give more details about how you proceed? I'm interested in checking if it works. And it can be handy for people to help you find a solution.
By the way, do you have any issue with GPS on JellyTime R8? In any case, could you indicate which radio version you have and if your DHD is S-ON or S-OFF?
GPS is not working on mine (no notification-bar icon, no fix), my phone is S-ON and radio version is 12.65.60.29U_26.14.04.28_M.

Apparently, flashing the radio ROM can fix it. But need to be S-OFF and it is more risky than just flashing the OS.
The ICS ROM you talk about has Sense, right?

yes it does...i read about flashing a new radio too..but yes basically it must be s-off.
I'm still researching. I'll tell you if i have any news.
Ok I solved doing this:
- Install this ROM (full wipe first) from herehttp://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1382235&highlight=zip full stock version.
- Then check that the gps works with gps status
- Go in recovery, do a wipe data/ factory reset
- INstall the JB R9 + gapps
Hope you can fix.

It really works? Amazing !
I saw a few posts talking about that procedure, but it looks so weird that I couldn't believe it! xD
I will try this week-end and let you know.
EDIT: And by the way, you still have the same radio ROM? It just flashes JB to Sense, activate the GPS from Sense and flash JB back?

Amazing !!
It fixed my GPS issue as well! But how it solved it is still a mystery.
I did it almost the same way as you did. I explain it behind in case it can be usefull for somebody else experiencing GPS issues:
Reminder: being S-ON, do not forget to flash boot.img from the ROM image using fastboot.exe !
- back up of JellyTime R8
- from Recovery:
-------->full wipe (data/factory resest + cache + dalvik)
-------->restore back up of my previous Sense ROM (the one that has been installed after using HTCDev-like tools to root/unlock/S-ON the phone)
- reboot on the Sense Rom and activate GPS and check status using GPS Status & Toolbox (can take several minutes before getting a fix signal)
- reboot in recovery:
-------->full wipe again
-------->restore backup of JellyTime R8
- reboot and finally activate GPS using the icon bar or going in parameters (the GPS icon should start blinking) and check the fix using again GPS Status & Toolbox (or whatever).
Thank you again Icifide !

gps not working :(

running a rooted stock 4.1.2 rom, and for some reason the gps doesn't seem able to lock onto any satellites or even recognize any satellites. when running the 'GPS Test' and 'GPS Status' apps, there are 0 satellites in view, and 0 connected. the icon is in the status bar blinking eternally, searching for a gps singal.
so far i've tried (from various other people's solutions on other threads):
- tightening the screws on the back of the phone
- factory reset from twrp (to the rooted stock 4.1.2 rom) (wipe data/cache/dalvik cache)
- clearing data from Google Services Framework and Maps, uninstalling Maps updates, and then rebooting the phone.
- a gps fixing patch from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1563226 (factory reset through settings + flash patch)
- removing and redownloading some a-gps files from within the GPS Status app.
- removing the battery for 30+ secs
im currently downloading a different rooted stock rom to see if it makes any difference, but not sure exactly what's wrong...
the gps icon is blinking in the status bar, which i read in other threads meant that the actually gps hardware isn't broken or anything. should i be sending the phone in for warranty?
Could it also have something to do with me not receiving the new google maps update yet? still hasn't shown up as an update in the play store for me..
- i747M TELUS S3
edit: i don't use the gps that much, so i have no idea if this is a result of the current rom in using or not, but the gps worked fine when i first bought the phone. i have since then been on various AOSP roms before reverting back to a stock rooted rom, and gps worked on at least one of those AOSP roms as well (don't use the feature all that often so i can't say for sure if it worked for all the aosp roms, but i did use it a few times with no issues).

Try this method. You have to be on a Stock ROM for it to work:
Easiest and most reliable way. Try this first!
Enter the Samsung service mode by typing this code into the dial pad *#197328640#
Then go to Mainmenu>UMTS>Common>NV REBUILD>NV REBUILD> (Important: don't exit the menu yet!)
Wait 30+ sec
Long press power button and select "Restart / Reboot"
Now check your GPS from any software that may use GPS like "Maps" or "GPS Status"...
All credit to harshaedvern for this easy fix
This has worked on a couple of phones that none of the other methods worked on. The problem begins when going back to a stock ROM after being on an AOSP ROM.
