Did they fix the front facing camera's awkward orientation yet?
Not really sure what you are referring to, but my front facing camera seems to work as normal on EF02
Whenever I tried to use a video chat app it would rotate everything 90°

I've noticed that, while it may sometimes appear rotated to you, it's not always rotated to the receiver (or they may just rotate their device assuming it's supposed to be that way).

If anyone has encountered this or knows of a fix, please help me!
My camera app (as well as other apps that use the camera, such as Google goggles) are not functioning properly. The camera on the phone is making a noise as if it is opening and shutting, and the picture on the phone is blinking on and off. To top it off, the apps start to freeze when this happens, which makes me think that the app is having problems initializing the camera, and it may not be just an app issue. It also has the same problem with the front camera, so both back and front are doing the same thing.
Any ideas guys and gals? I could really use some help here, I rely on the camera multiple times during the day at my job, so I need it to function.

is it the speaker in the phone making a shutter noise or the physical camera? im pretty sure there are no moving parts in either cameras..
Hi,
I wondering if there is a hack or any kind of mod that allows epic to have screen upside down. I searched around the forum, and none had answer except to get CM7.
Since we got Gingerbread 2.3, I am wondering if there is a hack.
This site mentions way to enable 180 deg rotation for 2.3: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/...e-rotations-by-90-but-enable-rotations-by-180
I recently busted AUX cable in my car because of inconveniently placed audio slot for our epics..
Let me look for this. I know I had it on a ROM in the past. I am not sure if it was intentional or not. It was 360 degrees. It didn't matter what way I turned my phone, the screen rotated in every direction.

Thanks for looking,
I searched through out internet, and looks like only solution right now is to get CM7.
I am wondering how other people are handling having aux port on top of the phone?
Is there an music app that flips upside down? just flip the image of control buttons and display? I wouldn't think that would be hard...
Did some digging and it was an error in my ROM or kernel I believe. It was quite some time ago but it is possible as you found out however if CM7 does it, you still are going to have to wait for a bit

Hello all,
So I've searched for this issue before, and while I've found others that have the same problem, nobody seems to have found a solution.
The issue is that when I take a picture in portrait mode, and then either try to MMS or send to my PC, the photos end up rotated on their side. I noticed that when I open my camera, it looks like my phone is rotating to landscape. I have tried resetting auto screen rotation, but no luck. Anyone have any idea about a solution to this? My wife's S3 does the same thing so others MUST have the same problem, I'd assume. Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Just take photos in landscape. They come out looking normal. It's a known bug. I don't think there's a setting to change it.
Since i rooted and flashed new kernel and rom never happened again

this happens when i have Auto Rotate function turn off. I just turn it back on and everything is back to normal.
I didn't know that about auto rotate.
How many articles have been written about the pitfalls of taking pictures in portrait? Just don't do it
I did a quick search and didn't find anything about this problem, but if this question has been asked before, I apologize.
Anyways, When I take pictures in portrait mode they show up fine on the device, but they are rotated sideways if they are viewed on the computer. I also experience this issue about every 4th time I share a portrait photo on Twitter. I know I can rotate each photo individually on the computer, but that is a pain.
Is there anyway to fix this?
Also, it isn't phone specific because I had the same problem on my Epic 4G Touch.
Having the same issue when trying to upload to Instagram. Could really use some help on this 1. Didn't have problem until I came to jellybean. I'm stock unrooted

Instagram has a rotate button once you crop the picture.
I've always had this problem with 2 Samsung Galaxy phones.
I went through and manually rotated each portrait photo on my computer today to upload to Snapfish.
I hope there is a solution to this.
Yea I know about the rotate button on Instagram. Even though I use that it still uoads sideways. I just decided to take all pictures in Landscape.

Seems like it would be a format/read issue that would need an extensive rewrite of the code to fix. The camera is probably taking the pics as you see them on the computer and the phone is reframing them as instucted from when the pic is taken. Have you tried placing pics from your computer onto your phone that are turned 90º clockwise?
I was having the same issue but it you take all the pics in "Landscape" mode where the camera button is to the right, they come out fine and upload fine as well. Portrait mode is set to landscape as well. Sucks but that is how it is.

That's what I've been doing for 2 months now. Haha.
Ok i am going to try to describe the problem. In the camera app everithing works but when switching to the front facing cam it freezes and it says camera aplication stoped working. I have tried in several apps, roms, kernels and the problem remains. Is it a hardware problem? And another problem is that the back camera pictures look kind of crappy (blurry) i bought it used a few months ago and it keeps bugging me. Is there a way to fix it?
I think it is a hardware problem

I have the same problem, but on the back camera. I think it's a hardware issue.
My front camera caused the same issue. Getting the app to work required stopping the process so it would default again to the front cam. This was about 6 months ago..
I just tried it again and the front cam works... Kind of. Images are blurred and screwy.
Gonna say it's a hardware issue?
