I need headphones wired with controls? - General Accessories

Any one has a wires headphone that has control on it, like pause/play, skip next, call/end, volume control, like the one that iPhone have so you don't have to get the phone in the pocket just to control it?

I had been looking for one about a month ago, i came across a couple forums saying android cant actually use (iphone like)physical buttons because there's no place for it in the OS(something similar to that). Anywho, dont quote me i'm only a noob(and this is my 1st post).
But i ended up buying
thecellguru.com/Products/28106
and
newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16875979005
, both of which are pretty good. The alteclansing one is better, but if too much bass is a problem for you, i would suggest the former. Both have physical buttons, press for play/pause/answer, long press for endcall, double press for next track.
Hope this helped

Skull Candy may have some like the kind you are looking for.
A few years ago when I owned my BlackBerry, I had a pair of Skull Candy headphones that allowed me to answer calls, skip songs, and adjust the volume.
It's been a few years, but it is a possibility that they still make some like that.
Sent from my Inc using Nil's Business Gingersense. Now that's Incredible.

I use the Klipsh S4i
And they are pretty fine. The sound's quality is fairly good for headsets that price.
You also have controls which are fully operational with an iphone. For android devices, you can use the lecture, pause, next and previous song, answer calls. But you can't control the volume.
But your device's volume can probably be changed even if the screen's locked and off I guess. from within your pocket. I do that and it's really fine
hope it helps

Are they with those flat cables? I simply love flat cables just like the Beats have

Nokia has some headsets too, IIRC the one you get with an N95 is suitable for your needs..

[Q] volume boost app?

is there an app or something to boost the volume on the g2? it's a little low in my headphones. i can live with it, it's not that low, and i'm not gonna root (when a permanent root comes along) just for a volume boosting, but i just wouldn't mind being able to crank it up a little bit extra by using an app or something.
thanks

It doesn't work with our G2. The app says it probably won't work with any devices with Android 2.1+
You'll have to contact him via twitter and/or email and request the LVH4 Beta. Could possibly work on G2 or maybe, he hasn't even made any headway with G2 yet...

wow, i just looked up that Meltus Louder Volume Hack app... awesome, im' gonna keep an eye out for that to get updated to work on 2.1+ phones so i can maybe try that for my G2... but holy crap, the comments make me lose faith in humanity... well i already didn't have that much faith in humanity, but it clearly says in the description "Doesn't work with 2.1+ phones, see site for full list." and yet tons of people are complaining that it doesn't work and they wasted their money and giving it bad reviews... how do people just keep getting dumber? maaaaaannnnnn.... haha
This is the reason I still carry my ipod fml

Are you using the headphones that came with the phone, or your own?
I was using some aftermarket headphones, and they seemed like they weren't very loud. I don't know why, but I popped in the headphones that came with the phone, and they are much louder. I'm guessing that the impedance or something is different. I guess it makes sense seeing as this phone has some sort of heard-aid rating (that I assume means it should be loud enough for folks that are hard of hearing).
I doubt thats the case. The included plugs still arent nearly loud enough.

You could look into an external amplifier.
I have the fiio e5, it charges through usb and its tiny. it would be great if it didnt pick up cell phone interference when near the phone. I would probably look on ebay for a cmoy amp, or check head-fi for recommendations.

SE Liveview is it any good?

I'm thinking of getting a SE Liveview. I want to know if it's any good as they're selling for about £20 on Play.com and to be fair it looks like a really cool accessory.
Sent from my R800i using xda premium
its just 13 quid by now. but my personal experience i am telling you not to buy. i have liveview for like 3.4 months but never used it cause you need to sacrifice the battery of your phone which is already a problem.
I love it but I would by the new version Sony made much more attractive works better called live watch or some thing
Sent from my R800a using XDA App
I personally think it doesn't affect battery life too much. It does lose connection sometimes, and that can be a pain. I think there is an app to get rid of that problem though. And the new watch is called SmartWatch I think.
It's a pity I don't have the £75 for the Sony Live watch. Tar for the opinions guys.

Got mine same day as my play. Doesn't affect battery that much afaik. Connection issues have been a problem. I just shelled out a buck for liveview manager in the store. Supposed to fix connection issues. Haven't fully tested it yet but I hope it works, I love mine. Especially great because I can't always feel vibration and I can when it's on my wrist.

Sadly yes - I bought one for 20€ at amazon a month ago. Since some people even mentioned good things about the device.
But continuous disconnects made it unuseable - since it refuses to do anything with broken connection it was not more then a little weight,...
Beside the range was really short - wich also broke the connection once the phone was 3m away - and the reconnect when in range again ALWAYS failed.
Ofc i tried to get the latest FW update (last from 01.2011),... even flashed different ROMs to be sure it not the Phone....
I sent it back.
Beside this I noticed - it really not more then a gimmic --- the useability is quite low.
I haven't used the new 'smart' watch/liveview but i still have my MBW-300 Bluetooth watch, and it was a great investment. Not as many features as the Liveview by far, but still looks much better and for basic notifications/music control its awesome!
does anyone know if this can be used with other media players like beyondpod or astro podcast player?
I know it works for the stock music player....but can it take control of other aforementioned apps!

I think it's a terrible idea. As I've stated numerous times: Why compromise the specs to fit on your wrist when you have a full-spec device in your pocket already? Make it remotely control the other device and FULLY integrate the functions!
All that does is make me have two Android "smart" devices I have to charge every night (actually, three because I also carry a tablet).
Allways dissconected

Maybe stuff some cotton in your ears ahead of the bluetooth headset?
If anything I find that the audio output of most devices is too low. Of course, I'm probably old enough to be your Grandpa and don't hear as well as you but that's just my perspective.
Have you tried the volume + app? There is settings just for Bluetooth. You can get the app for free through the devs website.

Aftermarket headphones with mics don't work for making calls on the GSIII?

Hey Guys, I am VERY frustrated with this phone.
I have 2 pairs of awesome aftermarket phones that I have used for years on various phones to make and receive calls: Klipsch s4is and Bose E2s, which have worked on: iphone 4, iphone 4s, nexus one, LG G2x.
I just sold my 4s to get a GS3, and now, the headphones are not recognized by the phone app. WHen I dial out, I cant hear anything, and the mic doesn't register my sounds. There is no option for wired headset in the phone sources section of the phone app (which has a bluetooth option, and a speaker option, but not a wired headset option).
Is there any solution to this? If not, I'm immediately selling. I can't imagine that this is the most popular android device. I'm already dealing with the stock mail app not showing or syncing Exchange sub-folders, which is very, very annoying. Combine that with the headphone issue, and I'm already ready to bail. Please help!

Loyalty? What are you talking about. I'm about quality and features, not loyalty. In fact, to be loyal to a phone sounds completely wacko to me.
I'll repeat for everyone: I just called Samsung tech support. They have confirmed that aftermarket headsets DO NOT WORK ON THIS PHONE.
The also confirmed that: exchange sub-folders DO NOT WORK ON THIS PHONE.
You're telling me that is acceptable on their premier device? That is a joke. I will most definitely be selling this phone for one that supports the most basic, basic functionality.
BTW, I tested the phones on 5 different phones at the ATT and TMO stores and the Samsung kiosk at the mall. The headphones work on none of them. The 2nd tier customer support at Samsung has zero helpful information, and no date to fix. This is pathetic. I'll be getting rid of this phone now. If anyone wants a brand new white 32gb GS3 for TMO with an elago case and screen protector, let me know.

Her advice was also to buy a third party exchange app.
Have you tried them using a non touchwiz rom? That might be a solution
I have the same problem, but it only happens on "3 buttons" headset. If you use "one button" headset, it works fine with S3.
Example: I have Bose MIE2 (universal) and MIE2i (dedicated volume buttons for iPhone).
MIE2 (one button) does not disconnect when making calls, but MIE2i gets disconnected everytime when making call and I have to re-plug to make it work again.
My brother has piece of sh it headphones from Walmart with a built in answer button and mic. It works just fine...

I feel your pain. The first time I realized that my headsets didn't work with the S3 I was baffled. And it sucks that every time I'm listening to music with my earphones and I get a call, I have to pull the phone out and answer the call using the earpiece and mic on the phone. Totally stupid and frustrating. I hope it gets fixed soon. It's also really funny how the buttons work (one, not 3 on 3-button headsets like mine) to pause and skip tracks but the mic doesn't. Stupid.
On the Exchange Folders front, all folders do show up. The way I access them (I have multiple exchange accounts set up) is to hit the account drop down and then tap on show all folders. So the Samsung support person you talked to was wrong on that front.

My original Android wired headphones (that came with the Nexus One) work perfectly with the T-Mobile SGSIII to play music and make/receive calls. The call comes in, the music pauses and I answer the call, talk to the caller, hear them perfectly and end the call using the headset button. There something wrong with either your headset (I'm leaning in this direction) or your phone.

[Q] New nexus 7 and an always on mic

I am just curious if any one think there is any chance it will have the feature that the moto x does with the always on mic.
Sent from my SCH-I605 using Tapatalk 2
I dont think this feature would be nearly as useful as on a mobile phone.
I think the mic is always on because of Google Now and the ability to do voice commands at will.
Honestly I can see the benefits but if you are too lazy to pretty a button then its pretty sad. I'd rather see a dedicated voice button then always on mic. Not only for security but also because if it is always on, then it is always processing. Seems like a waste of resources 99% of the time.
Just grab a Bluetooth headset and press the button on the unit, and it will ask for a command. At least mine does.
Plus what's next? Always on video? A Google employee moving into my house? Cats and dogs, living together?

That has to be the stupidest thing i have heard someone say.
Does your TV have a remote. What are you lazy to walk to your TV?
Its an evolution of technology. Why should i have to touch it when i could NOT touch it.
I am not huge on voice controls because if i am already touching my device i would rather just do it with my finger.
If i don't have to even look at my phone to send a message or skip a song then why would I.

ROFL
Even Star Trek's communicators on their shirts have to be pressed. And Star Trek knows the future better then we do. Nuff said.
Btw I'm only half serious.
Something like Google Glass, I understand IF it was paired to YOUR VOICE. But a phone...? It doesn't need to be listening every second just to grab 1 or 2 commands. Have you ever tried using Google Now in a noisy environment. I can only see my phone grabbing all sorts of random commands and doing random acts. Pass on that.
Even Google Glass reviews show it picking up commands from others and screwing things up.

I was under the impression the always on mic was powered by different hardware specs ie: the super low voltage battery when sleeping and a low power mic. Seems like this will be hard to implement for many devices without these hardware features.
I think always on mic is a moto thing, dealing with their custom made snapdragon aka "motorola x8 computing system", has a whole core dedicated to it, and another dedicated to gestures. I think current devices could do it fine, but battery life would suffer without motorolas software and hardware tweaks.
Of course I don't really know, that's just my guess. Guess we'll all find out next week

I have my new Nexus 7 in hand. I am pretty sure that is a moto only feature but i bet we see all the big players picking it up in the future.
The always on MIC is monitored by a dedicated low power core on the Moto X. N7 doesn't have that chip.
