[Q] D-Pad Vs. Tilt control for emulator - Windows Phone 7 Software Development

I am looking at porting a fully C# GBA emulator to a WP7 XNA or WP7 C# Application. I am wondering whether to render a GBA Micro like interface for the emulator, or use tilt controls instead of the D-Pad. Which would be better for an emulator.

d-pad is better

D-Pad definetly... Maybe Tilt could be added at a later date though?

i hate tilt. d-pad defo!

Alright, now I just have to work out the porting to WP7 of a directX GBA emulator

Anyone have suggestions for good game emulator for artemis?

I'm currently using a MAME emulator for Atari games but I'd like to play some NES games too. But before I go down loading different emulators, I was wondering if there's one specific to the Artemis since it doesn't have a regular D-pad.
Well there is ScummVm for PPC ... but this Emulates only the old Lucas Arts Adventures (Indiana Jones, Monkey Island etc.)
For NES Games I would try MorphGear (has a on wikipedia entry).
Wel hope this helps and hapy gaming.

ScummVM is excellent, LOOM is an epic trip down memory lane.
That´s True
i wonder if there is some sort of joystick or mini-d-pad to plug into artemis mini-usb and some emulator be compatible with that. because playing with the trackball is really horrible, unless you only play arcanoid ^^
NO, there is no such Device until now - as far as I know. The only button equiped mini USB Cable I can think of is the E100 Headset from HTC. This device has a play, stop, foward ,rewind button and is provided with an driver .dll. Maybe one could use this as a base for a Homemade Controller? using an old NES controler and remap the appropriate buttons shouldnt be that hard On the other Hand the Game Emulator should be capable of Buton-remamping.... then maybe this setup would work quite well.

Best gba emulator compitable with the touch hd?

Just wondering what the best gba emulator is for the touch hd? (written with the hd)
me i have tried pocketgba and it doesnt work and also morphgear but doesnt seem to impress and has tiny keypad
The only option I have found is using Morphgear with the gamepad found on the forums, all the other emulators are not fit for wvga thus having keyboards that are way too small.
yup i take it back morphgear is ok with the sorta multi-touch pad posted here by dredd65
I agree, morphgear is the best for now.
For the big virtual pad, look here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=489147
Are there any decent free alternatives to morphdgear and the modules, i want to play pokemon!
Anyway, with morphgear playing GBA games is too slow. Max 15 fps, its pointless.
i still am looking for the best emulator for a wvga device.

Alternative way of emulating SNES on Touch Pro 2

I have been desperate for a decent SNES emulator for my touch pro 2 and have found a way of playing the games on my phone since Morphgear is all but useless on our phones. Put haret on your phone and run Android http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=627997. Go to the Android market and download the free version of SNESOID and enjoy. It plays nearly full speed on our phones. I would however recommend that before running SNESOID that you close all applications running in the background in Android before attempting to run a game. I can't wait until sound is supported with the Android build for the Touch Pro 2 then we will have our cake and eat it too. Hope this helps some of you guy's that have been searching for emulators as I have.
I'm sorry, but why is morphgear useless?
(I'm sorry, but why is morphgear useless?)
Hey Scalage. Speed and the interface of Morphgear is what to me makes it useless. When I play SNES games I like to play them to play as close to full speed as possible with sound. Morphgear just don't cut it on a WVGA device unless you are running it on a phone like Omnia 2 or HTC HD 2 with much faster processors. So it didn't take me long after I installed Morphgear to uninstall it from my Touch Pro 2. If you have found success with Morphgear then I am impressed. But performance with games like Super Mario World and Mario Kart when I tried it really disappointed me.

Pocket GBA and WM 6.5

OK here is my issue, I have a Sprint Touch Pro 2 and I just upgraded to the new windows mobile 6.5 rom. I am trying to get Pocket GBA to run in Full screen or....even half scree....hell any size screen would work.
I have a feeling there is no fully complatible GBA emulator for windows mobile 6.5 out right now.
I downloaded the newest version off
http://www.sunbug.net/board_contents/view/250/PocketGBA-GameBoy-Advance-Emulator-for-PocketPC
the cab wont install and however the .zip file will work just fine.
Any ideas or are there any 3rd party patches or is there a better emulator for GBA for wm 6.5 anywhere?
I can see there is no answer, possibly because there is no fully working emulator for 6.5?

nope not really. i've done some browsing for answers and it seems all emulators have some sort of issues with our phones (TP2/Tilt 2) in particular. they will run some games...but framerate, screen size, sound..or something or the other will be missing.
i would love to get GBA working on my phone and of course a playstation emulator to have some of the Final Fantasy games

That would be amazing if they were playable on the phone. the controller would obviously have to me emulated though the keyboard. btw, asiancuta, do you have a ff9 game?

used to own it, but unfortunately not in many years now lol. but i'd hunt for one on ebay, if i know for sure we can have an emulator that works and FF can run on it at 50-60 fps. i've been an FF fan since the NES first one.
FPSece is a PSX emulator that works very well on our phone, it can run somegames a full speed without sound.
http://www.fpsece.net/downloads.htm
Makes me sad when I see a PSX emu running this fast and I cant even get a SNES/GB/GBA emulator running a full speed with sound. We need these emulators to be updated with some better faster code. I know it possible with the hardware in our phone just no one with the skill willing to take the time to do it. Not like I blame them I am sure they have better things to do then make emulators for us.
Awesome to see there there is still some old school FF fans. For the last few months, I've been building a Tetra Master game for WVGA. its at v0.60 "missing the AI still". If your skilled at the game, you could be a beta tester for me. if you know C#, then i would love some help on how to add mp3s into the program.
the game has everything the PS game has, plus more features that SHOULD be included "buying/ selling cards and a non-cryptic tutorial"
Just if people are searching, as far as you're looking to play GB or GBC, I think the registered version of SmartGear is great. Game running, screen orientation and key mapping are ideal.

Best Emulators to use?

So far I can't find a sega genesis emulator or an NES one that doesn't suck.
I've tried a couple NES emulators and NEStolgia is the only "Decent" one I've found but it doesn't support more than 1 player for the xbox 360 gamepads like the SNES one I have does.
Sega I just can't find anything period.
Also has anyone tried playing playstation on this yet?
Edit:Retroarch has multiple player mapping.
Retroarch 1.0.0.2 has a large selection, but can be a little difficult to use.
It has the only known working Sega 32x emulator for android via Picodrive which can run Knuckles Chaotix, but sadly not the prototype builds from Sonic Retro.
The N64 and PS1 emulators within may work fine for you,but not for us keyboard users who lack analog input since there is no analog mapping.
You can enable a touch overlay to access the rewind feature and other features. (stupidly missing input mappings for rewind and forward)
Retroarch needs a complete overhaul of its input mapping by adding all system specific controls including analog as mappable buttons plus rewind/forward.
There is PPSSPP's stable release that can even run the homebrew SRB2PSP at full speed (35/35fps) after enough option tweaking in exception to Deep Sea Zone.
PPSSPP runs DBZ Shin Budokai at a near flawless 60fps after tweaking.
I recently tried the DOS emulator called MagicBox with W95.img and got decent speeds, and internet explorer actually opening, but sadly no internet access.
Someone needs to cut out the middle-man and make Windows run properly on Android WITH internet access and unbeatable speed.
Can someone point me to info for getting Windows CE on Android without replacing the ROM or unlocking the bootloader?
epsxe has no audio on the Kindle Fire HDX no clue if the Fire TV suffers from the same issue or not.
So there isn't a decent Sega Genesis emulator yet?
Whats the best SNES emulator? Would love xbox360 gamepad support but not essential.
Just want these 2, I couldn't personally care for N64 or PSE. After those classic games from my youth .
