[Q] Able to port SMS app from Sensation ? - Galaxy S II Themes and Apps

Hey Guys
i had the Sensation for a week or so before taking it back and getting the mighty S2
i did happen to like the look of the standard sms app on the HTC tho.
Is it possible to port such a thing to the S2 or is there some incompatibility there ?
Sorry, not really up on porting stuff and how it works
Cheers then

i too prefer the sms app and keyboard on sensation, but i think the grey/white color theme will consume more power on amoled+ right?

i guess so, although, once stuff like that works on the s2, i dont think it would be uber difficult to change the colour of stuff
but i have to say, i way prefer the stock gingerbread keyboard tho

you cant port it due to another framework. it's probably easier to get a sensation rom working on sgs 2 than only porting the sms app

If the Sensation's SMS app is reliant on the HTC (Rosie) framework it won't work. Unfortunately this is probably the case.

[Q] Sense call screen replacement

Are there any call screen (dialer and incoming call) replacements for Sense roms? I really hate the call screens in Sense...one of my peeves I guess. I've seen ones that I love and that look real nice in other roms (like MIUI) but I would love a customized, flashable replacement for a Sense rom that fixes the issue with the contact pic or looks identical to the one in MIUI (currently running Myn's Warm 2.2).
You can swap the files between roms, but I forget what files your supposed to swap.....hopefully someone else can help you with that

Agreed! I dislike all the white in the Sense Phone app, its very hard on the eyes during night hours...
EDIT: Spare 5min at work, I pulled the Phone.apk out of 'Nils' Business Sense' ROM and copied it over to my DInc....FAIL! Rebooted and Dialer Storage keeps FC'ing. Looks like it will take a little more thought and an actual dev's attention perhaps. Takers?

As far as call screen goes, Full Screen Caller ID is nice(about $5), but they have a add supported free version as well

Anyone have a clock for AOSP that works like the sense one?

I have been looking for a clock that is like the stock sense one that has alarms and timer and stop watch all included haven't been able to find one for a AOSP rom would like to find a sense based clock that works with AOSP rom that has all the goodies with it. Only thing thats stopping me from wanting to use a AOSP rom all the time. I like the senseless roms but its a pain to find something that may work until it boot loops sucks. Anyone know of any i have checked out the clock forums on here but all they seem to be is fancy clock widgets. So can anyone point me into the right direction. Thanks I am pretty familiar with APK files..

I'm using the Weather & Toggle widget on my hero and using it asa my EVO comes in. It's almost exactly like the stock one and there's skin downloads to match it exactly. I paid for mine because it's worth the couple bux bud, seriously. I don't buy many apps, just help out the devs but this one was a no brainer for AOSP roms.
Post under construction.

Ya i am likeing cm7 tho the keyboard sucks its a pain to use. The clocks out there are not as good sense based one. Hope someone can fix that. The roms to have dried up not to many people are making anything new. I like evo based roms not ports. If your really want a port go get the phone in my opinion. Im like konies rom elite 3 battery life isnt good on stock kernel the clock doesnt suit me trying to replace it.
Fancy widget has the clock your looking for plus a whole lot more..

Sense replacements
I am on ASOP now and have really missed a lot of Sense stuff since switching to Cyanogen 6 a few months ago.
I have used a number of stopwatch apps and don't really like any of them.
I am using TouchPal, beacuse I don't like the stock dialer, but am not crazy about TouchPal.
I am using SwiftKey as a keyboard, which I do really like a lot.
I use Beautiful Widget's: Super Clock. Its the best thing next to sense. Plus you can change up the skins faster than you do your socks!
Also I use Swift Keyboard. It looks similar to the touch input plus its crazy convenient!

Ehh, I just want the time and an alarm lol. W&T widget defaults to the stock clock, which has an alarm so that's cool. The KB is garbage though you're right. Many months ago when I was on Sense roms with my Hero I was using the AOSP-voice keyboard but now I'm on Better Keyboard 8. My EVO should be in tomorrow and I'm guessing that just the meire size of the phone should make ANY keyboard easier to use lol. The Hero landscape is just a little too small for my big fingers.

Check out HD Widgets. It's on app store for a small amount but is well worth it and it looks great. It has lots of clock widget sizes and styles, with or without weather and is highly customisable.

Badass!!! Can't wait to try this! Definitely one of the best LOOKING roms i ever seen!
Working pretty well....
Launcher is a little choppy...but seriously! Cant complain! Love the UI animations though!
Definitely looks spectacular, I'll probably try it out and get back. Hope you get the WiFi and such worked out, will post back after test running
ok - not to be a **** or anything but this begs the question:
Why do you WANT blur on your phone? Everyone i know with a blurred motorola phone struggles to make it blurless and wants to remove that crap as much as possible - it is a serious detriment to performance and battery life.

yea im aware of the many issues, i still have alot of work left with this rom, about landscape mode it should be working just fine even with the keyboard out, also the browser im not sure as i havent fixed wifi so i cant use the internet on the rom. And yes i figured gps was not working again iv got no internet so i have no way of fixing that, i need wifi for that XD. anyways im glad you guys like it.

Because this version of blur is different from the others and better, and well because we on the g2 forums deserve variety, other than the 3 classic roms, sense,cm7 or miui. And no i dont think this rom will drain that much battery or affect performance, our gpu's beats the crap out of the omap that the droids have.
Also found that when calling someone it will restart the phone and it will keep you on the call till the os finishes reloading.

i'm guessing this is based on the Droid X GB leak - the blur is different than the blur on 2.2? My girlfriend was running stock 2.2 on the DX and getitng like 12 hrs of battery life. Then running Liberty 2.1 (blurless 2.2 based) she was getting 24 hours +. I flashed her over to the Liberty GB alphas (has a lot of blur in it) and have yet to see how the batt life is.
What i do know is that if you look @ running services (on the DX Liberty GB) and use an app like autostarts to see the on startup apps - blur has a whole ton of blur stuff that runs in the background from startup on - unrelated to ui changes and widgets.
What i fail to understand is not manufacturer ui (which differentiates) but why it has to be baked in so deep into the OS and kernel that it makes it impossible to remove if - god forbid - you want a more stock experience.
I have a lot of respect for any dev who brings more variety and software choice for our phones and i dont mean to undermine his work. I guess i just get pissed that companies like motorola make it so hard to go stock (particularly mess with that damned bootloader) that they would rather u ruin your device (i soft bricked my gf's droid x once and the only way to get back to stock is a complete SBF flash - a rare turn of events that i've never had the displeasure of running into on an HTC phone).
On a related note to this ROM, i noticed on Liberty GB (but not on Liberty 2.x) you can remove stuff from the notification area because there is a minus button (ie you dont have to clear all notifications or click on the notification itself to clear it - there is a button that enables its removal). Is this part of blur? I'd love to see this ported to AOSP.

Change keyboard to standard ICS

Hi,
Sorry for the newb question. Just converted from the dark side..
I love my HTC One X, but the keyboard is driving me nuts. I had a brief run with a Galaxy Nexus recently and found the standard keyboard on that much better for me and more like what I was used to on iOS.
Is there anyway to replace the standard HTC keyboard with the default ICS one without flashing a new rom? If I can't disable the HTC one has anyone got a recommendation for the replacement from the market? I did try the free ICS keyboard but couldn't seem to get it to activate after selecting it in settings > keyboard.
I do know a couple of people who have installed this and found it to be very good. Its a port of the ICS keyboard.

Let us know how you get on.
Thanks. That one seems to allow me to enable it. First impressions seem good. At least it doesn't take half the screen up as well!

Glad that one worked for you...
I'm using a stock ICS keyboard from the Market. Makes life much easier than the rubbish HTC attempt. Shame about the persistent input switcher in the notifications bar though.

Sabsa Prime 6.0

Hi there,
First place I would like to thank the developer for the time and effort building up this amazing Rom. Everything is working pretty well and smooth. Only thing is about camera that needs to be resized (think that u already pointed that out in the changelog). Also, the keypad in the lockscreen and calculator need to be resized.
Another thing is about the style of the icons when u do long press in the home button (to kill recently opened apps). Is it possible to have it like in the stock ICS?
I'm uploading some screenshots to show exactly what I mean.
Thanks again for the amazing Rom and hope u have time to keep the good work going
Regards
Btw, didn't post at the rom's tread cuz I still don't have permission for that

About calculator you Don't need to be re-sized because the style of the calculator itself is Default.
I know It looks like the numbers are too big but its the HTC default calculator (It was there on gingerbread too with big numbers).
I would recommend you to use RealCalc. It my Best calculator. I loved it so much that I had to purchased the Pro version.
