Default browser not rendering properly when sliding keyboard - Epic 4G Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I have auto rotate disabled so when I browse the web I slide the keyboard in and out to get to and from landscape view. Sometimes when I slide the keyboard back in, the top half of the screen will be black with the browser rendering only on the bottom half.
Is this a stock browser issue and will it fix itself if I use firefox or dolphin?

I have this issue as well on SRF 1.1.0. I've found that if you go into task manager and end the browser session and then restart the browser this issue goes away.

Yeah, that works until I decide to use the keyboard again. Running srf1.1

Possible Opera Bug??

I just recieved my Tmobile touch pro 2 a couple days ago and i have noticed just now that when i try to download anything with opera it wont bring up the download dialog box it just tries to open them and brings up a web page of garbled text. Now when i change the opera view to mobile view i can then download anything. So is it just me or is this happening for everyone and is there a fix.
On my T-Mo TP2; Opera doesn't like hyperlinked text or icons. About 8 ouf of 10 times it doesn't react to either a finger touch or a stylus tap. I can get it to work better by zooming WAY IN... but then it's a 50/50 chance it will work, and the zooming all the time gets old - quickly.
I visit the same web page with IE and tapping on the text/icon works 9 out of 10 times.
I'd prefer to use Opera, mainly because it uses the TP2 zoom bar well. IE "chokes" on zoom bar input (either doesn't work, or hangs for a few seconds).
Yeah im having the same problem with my tmo tp2 its very annoying is there something we can change or modify?

Browser question?

I listen to yourmuze.fm alot which is radio through the browser. Problem is, is none of the browsers work in the background. Like if I hit home or go to the app drawer the music stops until I bring the browser back up. My main problem is that I can't multitask and even though I lock the phone, the screen stays on. So thats a battery killer too. Is their any way to get this to work in the background?
FYI the other browsers do the same.

Screen brightness.. :x haha

Nothing crazy I was just wondering why I havent realized if you swype your finger horizontally across the top pull down menu to the right (without pulling the menu down) and keep it there for a second it brightens the screen dramtically. Without having to go to the display settings, I'm assuming auto brightness has to be off... it works vise versa- sliding left and holding it dims it..
haha I know this definately sounds dumb.. I'm laughing at myself right now lol.. but I've had this epic for about a year now and just realized this.. guess I was so focused on the whole rom and modding idea that I haven't really figured out all these little tricks yet... are there anymore neat, not obvious, tricks?

This was a little feature developers seem to have added to it, although I sometimes find it a bit more annoying than helpful at times. As for more neat tricks, if u hold volume up button+camera button+power button, that will auto reboot your phone. I should also say the this reboot trick only works on froyo, seems that Sammy must have deactivated it in GB

Some people delete the apk that causes the brightness changes...its called brightness.apk and its in /system/app

I use this a lot. My question is why doesn't it seem to stick when you switch applications. Here is an example. I swipe down the brightness at night and check Facebook while in bed. When I click on a link that opens in the browser the brightness jumps up. Then if I swipe down the brightness in the browser and go back to Facebook and click another link that opens in the browser the brightness jumps up again. I know there is a display setting called "Power saving mode" that adjusts the brightness based on analyzing the image but I have turned that off.

Is autobrightness on? I don't know if that will have anything to do with it but I assume so... and I just tried doing the same things you said you did and it didn't get brighter.. I'm using dolphin browser [its awesome] and sfr 1.2 with autbrightness off.

Nope. Autobrightness is off. I'll try out another browser and see what happens.
I did however notice that opening certain videos from the browser that require the media player brightens up the screen..

Keyboard disappearing lag - when in a message then pressing home

Even before flashing a new ROM I was getting this lag. When you're in a message with the keyboard showing then press home, the messaging app clears but the keyboard stays up for literally like a full second then disappears. Yet, if you are within a message and go back out of the message (press upper left) it has no issue disappearing as it should.
Any way to fix this, it's really annoying.
Had the same thing. No matter which rom

Yep same here...
Its about half a second lag if you actually time it. But it never bothered me at all, i'm surprised it bothers so many people. This issue was posted before too.
I dont think its a lag but more just a transition type effect issue.
It is because the keyboard is its own application. The way android runs is it shuts down the messaging app first then the keyboard second thus the lag. Manually close keyboard before exiting if it bugs you. It bugged me a lot coming from my iPhone where the keyboard is a UI element and closes at the same time. I've just learned to close my keyboard then go home.
I've had it with every Android phone I can remember having. It's not remotely an issue for me.

This. I now always press back, then home or my OCD kicks in.

Yeah, I'm having to do that too. Pretty bootsy if you ask me. Doesn't make sense why the OS can't close both applications at the same time though. Actually pressing back in the upper left closes the message and the keyboard at the same time.

When you hit back in the app it doesn't have to close the messaging app itself and just closes the keyboard app
Also, the way Android is written, is when you hit home it has to draw the launcher which is why it doesn't simultaneously close the two apps. Downside of the way android is programmed.

Chrome white bar

I've had to completely stop using the Chrome browser because it is becoming unusable. Everytime I try and use it, there will be a small little white bar on the bottom (temporarily disappears when I rotate the screen) and this causes a large amount of problems. It makes my touch about 2 cm off and I have to press BELOW where I want to.
Has anyone had this problem and been able to fix it? I thought it was my screen at first, but after going into developer options and turning on screen tracking, it's not the screen.
Disregard, I figured it out, had to install Chrome Beta.
Thanks for the info. I quit using chrome too because of those issues. Going to look for chrome beta now.
