[REQ] Backlight Notification Mod on kernels

For those unaware it stands for back light notifications, which uses the 4 capacitive led lights on the bottom of phone (just beneath the samsung logo) for notifications.
I have already searched on the epic forums and it seems that none of the kernels have the bln mod. Even though we already have a red led notification at the top of our phones, I think it would be a cool addition to the kernels. Our current led light stops flashing after x amount of time, where as the bln mod is customizable to continue flashing as long as you would like. Also, when you are charging your phone the red led is useless and a constant red.
I really can't do anything but to make a request for the devs to include it in their kernels. You guys can choose to include it or not. If not, why?

What they said that's always been my main gripe when charging. I never know when I have a call or anything always have to turn the screen on. So that would be awesome

This would be great as I hate the annoying red light while charging. I use my phone as a alarm/bedside clock so a bright red led is stupid. I guess there are apps that I might be able to use to change the led but I haven't tried that yet. Using the leds at the bottom would be great.

My girlfriend has the samsung fascinate, since that galaxy s phone doesn't have a regular led, almost all the kernels over in that forum have the bln mod to it. It is supposed to be portable to all galaxy s phones. Bumping to the first page to see if we can get some more people interested enough in the hopes of the devs looking into this and maybe spending some of their time integrating it into the kernels.

Bad Flash? Constant Blue LED

I flashed a Venum Rom and realized I didnt like it as much as the Mijahz? Slim n Trim well I tried going back to that and after abou ten minutes of it just sitting there doing nothing I pulled the battery, probably a bad mistake. Well now all Im getting is a black screen with constant Blue LED. I tried Power-Volume UP/Down. It doesnt show up on my computer. Im pretty this phone is now a sexy paper weight. Does anybody have any insight on how to fix this?

i know when that happen to me it was bricked couldnt get it to go in to odin mode or anything.. even took it to sprint they ended up giving me a new one because i had insurance

congrats, you have a new expensive paper wight, hope you have fancy paper

Did you flash a GB kernel to wipe and reflash the perivous ROM? or did you wipe on an ICS kernel? (Blue light of death)

Sounds like you did a factory reset with the wrong recovery...just go to sprint and say it won't turn on and you don't know why, you'll get another one for free, if you have tep, 35 if you don't...ALWAYS USE ODIN OR MOBILE ODIN TO FLASH EL26 KERNEL BEFORE FLASHING!!! (I bricked once too lol)

Unfortunately it sounds like you are a victim of the EMMC brick. Mijjah's Slim-n-Trim is an AOKP based ROM whereas most Venum ROM's are based on TW. These generally require flashing EL26 CWM then flashing the new ROM.
At this point your best bet is to take it in and see if you can get it replaced/swapped.

I know where I went wrong when i flashed the venum it didnt keep the EL26 CWM instead it added its own and I didnt think anything of it. I called sprint and i sould be getting a new one in the mail on mnday

welcome to brick city... I bricked last week and can't afford the $100 deductible for insurance. I'll be sending mine to Samsung for repair soon.

Did the same thing last week. Brick city! You must pay attention to what recovery you are on or this will happen. Took to sprint since blue light of death would not let me get to anything. I paid the 35 and they exchanged it.

Sonic FreeGS3 R5 NFC/XquiziT SG3 [TMO FreeGS3] Question

i noticed in the mods it lists NFC support with the screen off, and links to the original thread for the mod, which has an option to just enable NFC on the lock screen, and not while the screen is off. is there any way to implement this in the ROM? i did a quick search of the thread, and didnt find any mention of this.
also, looking through the TMO FreeGS3 thread by Wildchild, it shows a bunch of different colors for each different battery icon mod. how do you choose which color you want?

I beleive the colors represent the cycles from full charge to 0 charge and colors while charging.

On the second page (I think)of freegs3 Rom thread there are options for the battery gauge that are available. Just download the one you want and flash it.

oh, well thats... kinda disappointing actually. i like that my battery icon just goes from green to orange at 30%, and then to red at 15%.

so no one has an answer for the NFC question? i guess ill just post in the thread for the ROM... in five minutes -__-

no problem. at least im getting responses here. it seems like im being outright ignored in the freegs3 thread. guess ill putt around on stock rooted until something more suited to me shows up

Okay, so the LED flash is NOT strong enough?

After playing with it for a week now I can more or less confirm that the LED flash in our Note II is not as strong as I had on my S II. The images taken with flash at complete dark is not as bright as before. Say it's decreased by some 20%.
What about you guys? Any workaround or that's how it is?

no, but it shouldn't be a downgrade. a pic taken with the sgs2 in low light will be better than the note 2 due to the note not having a bright enough flash. hell, the note 2 might not even take the photo as it could be too dark to focus properly.
it's not huge, but it is an issue.

So it is an issue then. Hardware most probably? They changed the led unit or something?

or maybe the power supplied to it? who knows. either way it's not huge (for me). in 18 months i never took a photo with my sgs2 where i needed the flash so unlikely to bother me. i used it as a torch tbh since i'm weird and don't change lightbulbs in my house

Okay, but it shouldn't be like this. I mean it's a premium phone after all. It should've been as strong as S2, if not stronger.
Btw- When you use it as torch, is it bright enough like S2, or you notice the dimness there too?

Yup, right. Coming from S3, I can tell that its not as strong as S3 led flash. Not cool at all.. Dont know why Samsung design it this way ? ..

hi when i try to find a solution about my problem and google showed this page so can you help me ? i had the galaxy note 2 and i dropped it first day i have it. then i realised the led flash stopped working. (i don't know if it's working before but it was the day i have it from a foreign land so there's no warranty of it) i hope you to help me to repair it. should i replace the led flash or is it connected to a flex cable ? and where can i get a new one ? i've disassembly galaxy s i9000 before i know how ir's like and i can do it again but it is problem that getting the replacement staff. try to help me if you know something about this please. thanks

You should probably get it to a computer repair shop or if possible, Samsung. With or without warranty.
You don't wanna mess with the hardware so quickly even if you nearly know what you are doing :good:

For some reason, the flash is not full strength with stock samsung widgets (assistive light) Download app called "led light." Night and day difference.

Correction.. The led flash is very strong. Just use any third party app like tiny flashlight & led and see the difference. Samsung have set it at a lower intensity when used with stock torch widget.

Yeah, we all know that by now. I always use the app called Tiny Flashlight + LED. And yes, there is heaven and hell difference.

Nope, it's still weaker than S3 or S2. And I don't think the the bright LED which comes out by using a third party app is same when you use it for camera flash, it's always weaker.

So far, after flashing Hypermod rom based on 4.2, the camera flash certainly seems alot brighter than when on sammy roms, I personally think that samsung did this on purpose for whatever reason

im so sick of stock TW and i want to personalize my phone. basically, i love green, and i want the UI as green as f***ing possible anyone have any suggestions? and i mean green EVERYTHING. maybe like wasabi's soylent green here, but a little darker. with strategik's dialer like the three pictures at the bottom here greened out. and hell, i dont know. make everything on the lockscreen green? its kind of hard to think right now because im running on coffee and an apple fritter from 4 hours ago. oh yeah, i forgot to mention i was trying different versions of wildchild's xquizit xD and none of them would install. if it would have worked and i could have used the kitchen he has in his thread i wouldnt be tweaking out with this flashing itch so bad right now. and i figured this would be the best place for this thread but if the mods feel it would be better somewhere else go ahead and move it (like they need my permission). like i said i can hardly think atm :silly:
