I tried to flash the latest (at that time) Synergy Rom on Sunday. I had been trying out Sense 3.0 Roms since being on Cyanogen for 3 months and low in behold after flashing and rebooting, the phone hung on the splash screen, wouldn't even get to the boot animation. I pulled the battery out to reboot and kept doing the same things. So then i just figured I go through bootloader to get to recovery. When I hit recovery, the phone hung on the splash screen and thus I was forced to report my phone lost because I use it for work and was able to get a new one the next day (had to pull out my old bb 8530). The phone charges, but it will not do anything when powering on, or hitting recovery but go to splash. Once again when i try to go into recovery, it won't get there.
Any Help Please.

You need to reflash your recovery. Is it just hanging at the splash screen, or is it rebooting at the splash screen?
Download this PC36IMG I attatched (it's Amon RA recovery v2.3). Place the file on the main directory of your sd card (you'll probably need to take the SD card and use a card reader to get the file on the card....or put the card in another phone with an sd slot if you have access to one...just get the PC36IMG.zip file on your card). Once it's on the card and card's back in the phone, boot to your bootloader. It should scan and find the PC36IMG then ask you to update...select vol up to say yes. Should finish in 10-15 seconds. Then when it asks you to reboot, say no. Now from the bootloader menu, choose recovery. Do you successfully boot to recovery now, hopefully?
Ok, I got that, I put cyanogens latest release candidate from 5/5 on the card, I have Ra's recovery up, i guess i jumped ahead and the install aborted, tips please.

So what part aborted? When you were flashing the rom? Just to clarify, you did successfully get the recovery flashed, right? Now it's the rom you're having trouble flashing?
If so, I'd be sure that you don't have a corrupted download. Check the md5 checksum, or simply try redownloading it and trying again. Good luck.
It starts to install the ROM, then it all of a sudden aborts after getting 50-75 percent complete. I'm trying RC 7.3 now, wala, it worked, well i have an extra evo now i need to figure out what to do with it. BIG THANKS.

You're welcome, glad you got it squared away.
As far as having two Evo's...just be careful. If I'm not mistaken, when you report a phone lost or stolen to Sprint, they will make the ESN bad. I'd check into that, to make sure that one them doesn't have a bad ESN. I didn't even catch that part of your OP that you had already gotten a new one, lol.
So I guess that will make the phone useless if I give it to my father in-law.

I've been running a Sense ROM the last few days and wit the 3 different Sense Kernels I've flashed, I got stuck on the ROM's Splash Screen, had to do a battery pull and reboot and it was fine.
That could be your problem right there.

I installed a new rom that I ended up not liking as much as I thought I would so I restored to the nandroid backup I had previously made. Now when I turn the phone on it gets stuck at the white "htc Incredible" screen. I have pulled the battery and can get into recovery but when I try to turn it on normally it does not work. Anybody know how I can fix this?
Go into recovery, which you say you can do, and try your nandroid restore again. If that fails, it may be a corrupt nandroid. Worst case, wipe clean and flash the previous ROM that you know works and rebuild your apps and data.

Thank you very much. I could not restore to the backup I had made and I never thought to just go back to the rom I had on the SD card. Thank you.
Not trying to threadjack here but I have mostly the same problem so I thought I would just add it here. I was flashed Ruby 2.02 ROM and was just setting things up when my phone rebooted it would not get past the htc incredible splash screen so I read to pull the battery and try to reboot into recovery. When I tried to reboot into recovery my phone just vibrated 3 times then went dead. Did my phone just get bricked or what? ANY help would be awesome!

Can you still get to recovery now? If so, you are probably ok.
I am able to get into recovery but if I try to reboot from there it is still stuck at the splash screen. I think my sd card is not working right now, so I am not able to flash anything. Is my only solution a factory reset?

You need to boot recovery, wipe and flash a known working rom and start completely over. You really need to get a working card.
Well I flashed one and the problem didn't change so I am now flashing an older one of a different ROM that I hope will work.

complete wipe???
Good news!! The second backup I flashed worked! I think I should be okay for now, thanks for the help userjf.
I flashed the incredibly re-engineered v2.2 rom a week or so ago and it worked great till today it was giving me a force close on a bunch of apps, so i restared it and it still didn't help. Did a *228 and when it restated it just goes to the black screen that says htc incredible Loading then after several seconds it flashes blank for half a second then says same thing. I used rom manager to flash it. I've also used virtuous and skyraider 3.5. I'm good at computers but android is new to me as i've only had this fon 2 months. I have to do a battery pull to restart it. Any Ideas on how to fix this? I can boot into recovery but havn't been able to do anything... Never used it so not sure what to look for but like when i click recovery or factory reset, nothing happens. Oh, and i did a search but didn't come up with similiar problem.
htc incredible s-off
radio 2.15.00.07.28
Flash a different rom.
sent from my Dinc
How do I do that? When I boot in recovery mode I have option of fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock, and factory reset. When I select recovery it goes to bootloader, reboot, reboot bootloader, and power down, with reboot highlighted. Wen I select that it boots like normal than gets stuck on boot up screen.
Try fixing permissions through Rom Manager first, if not I would reinstall the rom. Be sure to do a full wipe, don't just flash over your previous rom.
If neither of those work, I would follow this thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786436
Flash back to stock 2.2 and see if your phone starts acting the same way. If so I would take it back to verizon. If everything seems ok, re-root and flash JUST the rom and apps that you want, no kernel, themes, anything extra yet. See if that fixes the problem.
I made sure I did full wipe when I installed it so that shouldn't b problem. The issue Is i can eve get to rom manager because he Fon wont load past the boot image. And its out of warany so vzw prolly wuldnt be much help.

I would re-download a different ROM (making sure you don't have a corrupt download), check the MD5 SUM's to verify integrity of your download, mount USB Storage in Recovery to transfer the file to your USB card (when phone is off, hold down the Power and Volume Down buttons at the same time), wipe all user data/factory reset and Dalvik, and then reflash the ROM of your choice.

Go to that link in my post, download the PB31IMG from the 2.2 Stock OTA, put it on the root of your SD card, boot into the bootloader and let it update. You will go back to being completely stock and unrooted. Root it and then try installing the rom again.
Hey folk,
My buddy & I both have EVO 4G's, I rooted mine yesterday, downloaded rom manager did a backup and than downloaded a rom and everything went smooth no problems.
Now today I rooted by friends phone the same way I did mine, when It came to doing a backup or downloading a rom, every time it goes to reboot after the rom is downloaded or you do a backup, it will reboot and than all you see is the white screen and it showing the evo 4G logo.
I don't know what I did wrong? the root went successful and everything else is fine.
Any help folks thanks.
How long is it staying on the splash screen? Sometimes it can take a few minutes.
Is it stuck on the splash screen or can you get it up & running?

It stays stuck on the flash screen it won't move, last it was running for 15 min on the splash screen and than the battery died, so I plugged it in to the charger and powered it up and it was still the stock rom but still was rooted.

First thing: don't try to flash anything with a battery lower than 35%. It might be okay at levels lower than 35%, but it's better to be safe. You don't want to be flashing something after a wipe & the phone shut off.
Second: for some reason after rooting my phone, it takes a lot longer to reboot than it used to. This isn't something that always happens but it does some times. The first couple times it would even get stuck on the splash screen & I'd eventually pull the battery. I found that after I switched to amon ra recovery it stopped happening. You could try switching recoveries, but if you do rom manager won't function anymore & you'll have to do everything manually. It's not difficult.
Try again, this time with a full battery, and see what happens. Make sure cwm says that the flash was successful. If it takes a really long time to reboot, pull the battery & power it on normally. Sometimes it takes a while after wiping/flashing because it has to rebuild cache and/or load the rom for the first time, but it shouldn't take 15 minutes.

Every said was correct. But I'd like to add, that its possible that it didn't wipe fully. The screen should never hang on the splash for 15 minutes...five is normal, and sometimes happens after flashing. But like plainjane said, try another wipe. Also, flashing under 35%, it'll flash, but if your phone dies midway, expect to have a fancy paper weight.

Thanks Guys I will give it another try, but I would also like to men-son nothing gets flashed, the phone reboots - black screen than white screen and thats all.
When I did the same thing to my EVO the white screen stayed for about 40 secs and than started flashing.
I will try to remove rom manager and reinstall it.
So I am still having trouble with my friends EVO, it stays on the splash screen and won't change it lasted for an hour and than I pulled the battery.
Nothing happen to phone.
When I try to unrevoke it, it asks me if my version is new and reboots.
Even when I try to go to clockwork it gets stuck on the splash screen.
What am I doing wrong?
does anyone not have an answer for this?

I'm not sure this will help you, but if it were me, I would download unrevoked's s-on zip and flash that. Then get the PC36IMG.zip for the Stock unrooted 3.70 OTA and install that so you will be completely back to stock and unrooted.
Then try to root again. Also, try Amon Ra since clockwork was giving you trouble.

Can you boot into your ROM at all?
^^^^^
No not at all.
If I power down than press volume down and power it will take me to the screen where I can goto to recovery but when I select it and try to go to recovery it will reboot and show the white splash screen that says EVO 4G and thats it, it will just stay there.
If I try to download a ROM or do a Backup and when it reboots to the same white splash screen it will just stay stuck there.
It looks to me the phone is partially rooted cause wireless tether, superusers, rom manager works but when I tried to download titanium so I can do the unroot and wipe the data clean titanium won't work.
At this point I have read a-lot of other posts and tried many other things but they all require me to go into clockworks which I can't. I even tried another method I seen on Youtube but I can't find unrevoked on my EVO anywhere.
I mean can you boot your phone up normally, and from the looks of it you can. You just need to reflash your recovery. Boot your phone up, go into ROM Manager and hit flash clockwork. After doing that, choose the flash alternate recovery option to flash Amon Ra and then do all your ROM flashing through recovery and not through ROM manager from here on out.

I recently rooted my HTC Incredible and flashed Cyanogen 7 on it. There were a few issues with the ROM, so I decided to try to flash it again. I backed everything up, then went into ROM Manager and flashed Clockwork, then selected the option to reboot in Recovery mode. But when I got to the HBoot screen and tried to select "Recovery," the HTC Incredible screen flashed, but then I was brought instead to the "Fastboot" menu. If I select "Bootloader" and try again, I'm brought back to Hboot. It is now stuck on this cycle.
I tried to reboot the phone to get into the ROM Manager, but when I did that, the phone got stuck on the Cyanogen splash screen. It's done this multiple times.
Consulting a friend, I then went on to dougpiston.com and downloaded a recovery .zip (Verzion 3.0.0.8), put it on my SD card via someone else's phone, and put the SD card back in my phone. There was no change.
This is where I am currently. I'm still new to rooting, and I've done the research that I can. But every thread I found that dealt with problems booting into Recovery required you to be able to boot up the phone. Every thread that dealt with problems booting up regularly made use of Recovery mode. I'm stuck here, and I would really appreciate any advice.
So did you actually flash the recovery you downloaded? The recoveries from www.dougpiston.com are PB31IMG.zip files that are flashed in hboot. Put it on the root of the SD card, boot in hboot, it will find the zip and ask you if you want to update, press volume up to confirm. Then try to boot into recovery.
After much sweating and cursing, a friend of mine noticed that my SD card somehow changed its format from FAT32. We moved all of the card's contents off, formatted it, and then put everything back on before reinserting it and booting the phone. Hboot performed its update, then we were able to boot into Clockwork. I wiped the phone clean and re-flashed Cyanogen. That got me back into the phone, where a few small fixes took care of the few minor problems that began this whole nightmare.
Thanks for your help. If you hadn't suggested poking around the card we wouldn't have found the problem!
I'm glad you got it figured out! I totally spaced to tell you to make sure the SD card was fat32, I just kind of assumed.
ok here goes:
I have been wanting to flash my main phone with the http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1425040 (Express ROM), so after backing everything up, I started. I went into recovery but noticed that I had the ra-recovery-2.3 and wanted to update to the recovery-ra-supersonic-3.11-gnm.img, so I connected phone and opened Androir Flasher, and proceeded to flash, I used the same process on the first phone. After finished I exited and went into hboot, in there I selected recovery and it went straight to the HTC splash screen and stayed put, so I pulled the battery and tried again, but got stuck same place. I am able to get back into the phone, and is is working fine, but just cant get into the recovery, to be able to flash the rom.
I did try the PC36IMG.zip method with hboot, and after going thru install, I rebooted and still no luck same screen. If I pull battery and put it back and turn on it will load up phone ok.
Guess I have to wait, anyone have any clues?
Just flash the normal Amon Ra. There's a link to the pc36img in my guide (in my sig)
I had this issue once when running MIUI and it turned out to be an app that wouldn't let me reboot in to recovery I have no idea why, but I just started uninstalling apps then tried to reboot into recovery and it worked just fine.
But since you used the system image I really dont know. sorry :/
