I'm breaking my cherry here. Long time follower, reader, but never signed up for XDA. Now I need you!
VZW Droid Incredible 2. Stock rom. Rooted. Tried to download a short artistic video from an app I got off of Snappz (not sure if the video is going to internal storage or SD.) Anyways, thing keeps saying 'download unsuccessful.' I don't care about the download anymore. It won't stop trying to download this video. I've tried a reboot, I force stopped the process that I got the artistic video from. Out of ideas. Tried searching google and XDA. No luck. How do I stop this thing?
Edit: Deleted the app that was causing the issue. Don't know why I didn't think of that first.

Try going into downloads and cancelling it? Reboot not stopping it is odd, if that doesn't work kill and clear data on the downloads app.

I could reformat my hard drive and reinstall Windows every time I get some malware too but obviously that's a last resort.

Reflashing a ROM is different than formatting a hard drive , but hey if you can find a solution better than a 5 min reflash cuz I dont know what else you can do to stop the download that won't download, wish I could have been more help

Could be server issues with the app or the app itself. It possibly makes a folder with the app name or something on the SD card that it saves to.

The app says that it saves to SD/downloadmanager. The folder was empty. The app didn't have a folder I could easily identify either. Didn't even think to try uninstalling the app (slaps palm against forehead.) So I did that. We'll see.

Application Manager -> All. Select Media Storage, and clear data. Reboot the phone. This will force the system to rescan all media files.

Might I suggest, sadly, the last two options:
Completely delete the entire SD card. If that doesn't work, format your phone. If you're rooted, backup any NECESSARY data, (no options, settings or anything like that, just in case it's related to the settings, but you can make a back up, just don't restore), and then reset device to factory default and see if that eliminates the issue.
Wait, are you rooted? On stock Android Galaxy Note 2? Or do you have any special changes done to your phone?

Are you on CM10?
I believe that this is a bug that has been hitting Samsung phones. It's either, a) a fault in the MMC chip, or b) a CM10 bug. I've had that happen 3 times to me, the 1st time I had no backups and lost over 10GB of media from my External SD Card. The other 2 times I was prevented and lost everything but had a backup. So protip : backup each time you have something new on your phone. Better safe than sorry.
Now, download this program and run it. It'll recover almost all the deleted photos from your SD : http://www.piriform.com/recuva

Hi, I dont know if I have CM10 :S .. i only know that I have anything as brand new (stock rom).
I found a solution but it`s not 100% working.
I downloaded Fish bowl gallery and go in setting>advanced>find missing photos> and than I select the maps where the photos are but are not shown in the stock gallery.
I waited till photos are added and now i have 100 photos (of 117 total) added in my stock gallery (but i still does not have other 17 photos)
Thank you
You should return your phone. If your pictures aren't showing up even after flashing an official rom then something is wrong.

Hi,
I'm using a SGS3 (no root, no custom rom) but got the same problem! I think it's a jelly bean problem..
Complete Edit: Problem is that since I flashed my phone with AOPK's rom and that music and videos will not play. The speaker by the ear will not work during calls and the headphones aren't registering properly (maybe with the headphones). I remember when I opened doubletwist and I got a message that went along the lines of that this is a custom rom and it was missing apis (I forget if that was it or not, I might have gotten it wrong) necessary to run some apps. And I'm thinking that is the real issue.
I have tried a lot of things, please take a look through the thread to see what I've already tried and didn't work.
I'm thinking I need to flash it with a different rom OR would really like it that if someone else who has the normal HTC One V software that isn't customized or anything, if they could leave a Clockwork backup file here so I can get my phone back to what it once was.
Try a full format of the sdcard from the pc or lappy.backup all the contents and format it(the full format, not the quick one)..

Try clearing the media storage as said above.
Move any one music file to internal memory, and then see if it plays.
Maybe because its not able to read the music from the sd

Why wouldnt it let you?what does it say?
Last option in my opinion would be a factory reset and re-install the rom.

It said that it couldn't copy it to that area. I've already done a factory reset and the rom, I'm a bit wary of doing that but it might be an option.
I'll come back on tomorrow and some other days, but as of now it's almost 2:00 am here and I'm so exhausted. Good night!
Ok,try using root explorer, copy the music file, mount system as read/write and go to mnt/emmc and see if it copies there.

Hello, somebody knows if there is way to change how the camera creates the files names??
Ex: It begins with DSC_0001, DSC_0002 and goes on... but when I cut those files to my HD, the counting start over again, DSC_0001 etc etc...
The solution for now is, everytime when I want to clear my phone I have to create a new folder and use some sw on windows to rename the pics/videos by date/time.
On my SII the files are naturally named by date/time, so easy and have no chance to overwrite the old files by accident.
Really, it sucks...
I have the same problem , I never had this problem with my Nokia n8

True... I guess it's a Sony problem, I didn't see other droids (sammy,lg moto etc etc..) doing that.
The only way to preserve the files from overwriting is to use another sw on pc to rename using the EXlF data (date/time).
PS: I'm using an sw called "Ant Renamer", very usefull.
Blow me Sony...

I had Inshot app in my s20+ for 1+ years. Yesterday I have uninstalled to update to new version (mod apk). After uninstalling , I cant install new version as it says signature doesnt match with existing application.
This is really frucked up situation as the same happened to zedge and vanced youtube with me. But these 2 apps was gone when I upgraded the firmware to Android 11 3.1 one UI.

adb
I have exactly the same problem with inshot. I uninstalled it to update a new version, but after install a new version, it says "signature doesnt match with existing application."
What do you mean with adb? Is it an uninstaller, like "Revo Uninstaller" software?
Please can anybody help me?
My problem is solved. I have a better solution then the ADB:
Go to: internal sdcard > android > data > then find the package: com.camerasideas.instashot and just delete this package. After that, you must restart your Smartphone and then you can install the new version of Inshot.
one thing I would like to say here is that whenever you want to install any update of an application you should simply goto the update panel in playstore and simply update from there. You don't need to install the app first and then reinstall to get its updated version. I hope you would get it.
Having this problem myself now. Phone does not have the com.camerasideas.instashot folder. Can't install any version of the app
Did anyone find the fix. I deleted the folder with com.camerasidea... but it didn't help. Please let me know if anyone solved the issue.
Thank you
Is there a way to fix this without resetting the phone?
