Can anyone port the Nexus S Maps to work on the EE03 ROMS? Seems like there's a 3D feature?

This.
And also make sure you turn on the "Latitude" layer.

Download the latest version of Google Maps from the Android Market first...
I have done all of the above and I do not get the view as pictured here. Just the crappy 3D view where everything is flat

What major city are you in? I know I can get the 3d view in downtown Portland, Or

It aint 3D that's just picture taken from an angle even on google maps on desktop it does that unless you go into google earth and check 3d buildings.
the one from here is 3d: http://www.androidcentral.com/google-nexus-s-shows-new-maps-app
Yeah, that's the same thing I'm getting. Didn't mean to imply that it had the satalite layer. But I do have the same 3d buildings on google maps.
I like street view better =P
Related
especially the feature where u "zoom" and it shows u a preview of all your pictures in a card form! just venting

Yep, that's it!
I actually prefer the ICS gallery as it utilizes the screen real estate much better. With it you can see almost 12 larger pictures as opposed to 9 smaller ones on the 3D gallery. Plus it doesn't get all wonky if you don't hold the phone straight. Oh yeah, you also lose the pictures editing option with the 3D gallery.
Hated the old Gallery...I welcome the new one!
It is still in aosp if anyone wants me to build it.
Edit: I lied. Its a different one.

But some people (like me) don't edit our pictures! Plus if we do, we can always go back to the old gallery! I like options! That's why I have an Android phone

Hey guys, just wondering if you guys know how to disable the side zoom in Browser?
I noticed this first on JB roms based on leaks, but I don't remember if it was in ICS.
If you don't know what I mean, basically when you're using browser and navigating horizontally through a webpage, the very side of the device, left or right, will initiate a zoom function. I can only imagine it's a test to get around any possible pinch to zoom lawsuits.
However, it's really annoying! Couldn't find a setting.
hmm, now that I think about it i'll try about::config or one of those. I'll report back, please let me know if you all know how to disable! TY
No, it's on ICS too. It's in the Setting/Emotion.

How odd, I don't see it in the settings motion area.
Just bringing this thread back to see if anyone has a solution. I can't find a way to disable this in Settings/Motion either, and entirely turning motion off doesn't fix it. Really annoying to be happily scrolling around and suddenly have the page start resizing for no reason.
Nope, this is a new "feature"!
Will require decompiling and modding.
Im planning to look into it but not right away. If I get time this weekend ill see what I can do with it.

Was this ever done?
Anyone figure this out yet? This crap started with jellybean. Stock browser and Dolphin both do this stupid side zoom crap. Firefox and Opera don't. It's so annoying I actually might switch to Opera instead. Dolphin was the greatest but this 'feature' is radically annoying.
So I'm running the Wild for the Night CM10.1 build and am getting used to new features in 10.1, and in this case the camera. In previous CM versions there was an icon/preview that would take me directly to the Gallery app from the Camera app. I don't see an obvious way to do this with the 10.1 camera. Am I missing something? It's not a lot of work to go back to my list of apps and select Gallery, but it is something I find myself doing over and over again.

Try swiping to the left. The new camera app is linked to the gallery directly, so treat the camera as if it is the first picture in your gallery; "swipe to see the next picture" if you will.

Then welcome! You'll hear JoCo a lot, as it encompasses all of the many suburbs in the SW corner of KC (OP, Lenexa, Olathe, Shawnee, etc.).

Ya, I've definitely seen that. I pass by Shawnee every day heading back and forth from work at the Downtown Airport.
The few I tried were all jittery and didn't move.

I think your confused as to what I'm referring to. I'm talking about apps to find out where planets are.
the one v does not have a compass so programs like sky maps won't align themselves with the sky automatically and they act all jittery. you need to turn on some sort of manual mode and drag the map around with your finger. i use google sky map this way.

Thanks. I was wondering if there was one with a GPS compass. My GPS apps can tell which way I'm moving when I am. I was reading about 2 or 3 different kind of compass modes. The compass is the one thing I'm regretting buying my One V over. Probably gonna switch up to a OneS. Thank you for the helpful response. Cheers.
Here's a link to check it out. Not sure if it works. If anybody wants to test out the APK, please report back with your results.
Thanks but the app is only installable on the ULTRA, MAXX, Mini, and Moto X.
it installs without problems, but doesn't appear in appdrawer, and playstore says it's incompatible with the One
I have installed the .apk, but can't start it, as it isn't present as an actual app. I think, we also need the settings app directly from the Moto X/Droid Series, in order to be able to set up the actual touchless cotrols app.
Application installed just fine on my Telus Galaxy S3 with CM10.2. Added the activities shortcut through Nova Launcher. Tried to launch each activity but it just crashed.
Rebooted and continuous errors.
There's something unique in Motorola's framework similar to TouchWiz/Sense etc. I know this is the HTC One forums, but I felt like trying it out
lol i like how the OP post an apk wants people to test but it too scared to test it himself
wont work...but
why not try something that really works (touchless gesture that is)

Maybe we can try by changing the build.prop of the phone. We did the same with Facebook Home and it seemed to work. Anyone can try this out?

are you following me from phone to phone over the years? :silly:
i've got the air gestures half working (screen on, scroll through browser etc) gonna try and get the rest working later on...
as for motorola touchless control apk it will never work without the motorola chip inside
Touchless controls is going to require a Motorola Phone. It requires a specific low-core processor that allows the phone to be constantly listening, if we kept the mic in our phones on 24/7 without Motorola's specific hardware, our battery would die in 1 hour.

No luck. I give up. Had a couple of responses earlier, like opening browser when it was already opened and requesting root.
Have you guys tryd using a logcat to see what it keeps looking for before it crashes just saying then we could have a better understanding.

Talking of Tom Cruise, he's like Sense 5. Remember the sense on our desire? Sense 5 looks just like that. I wonder how mimi Rogers looks like standing next to him today.

I was at work and couldn't download it and play with it. I have since tried it (it failed for me too), and have done some more digging. Apparently, the Moto X has a core in it's processor made to do just this. We do not have that core. Looks like this is a lost cause...
Stop saying core! It's a DSP, noting 'core' about that. .
But yes, this is useless without that chip. There is a app on play store that does the same thing and you can even set the wake phrase ('Jarvis!'). Haven't tried it so I cannot comment on battery, but I'm sure it uses quite a bit.

Is this going to be able to work with the nexus 5 because is has the same snapdragon 800 or will it still struggle? So disappointed the nexus 5 doesn't feature some of the moto x impressive features like touchless control and amazing battery. Otherwise it is a great phone!

Didn't anybody tell you? We're obliged to mess around with our phones, edit build.props, you know, stuff that could render our devices as, well.....paperweights really, just so the op can laugh at our expense.
How about OP, you install on your device, if it doesn't work....bad times, if it does work, post a solution. Stick that in your pipe and smoke it!
