its working for me am using it on CodeRom. now i can send sms to 1000 people (i have tried sending to 100 at a time and its works), the best part is that my long sms doesn't get converted to MMS.

Tried step by step multiple times
even after replacing the original mms.apk it did not appear on the bottom bar of tw3 launcher only 3 icons appeaared viz contact app drawer and dialer.

Sorry for noob question : When i try to overwrite the 2 files you mentioned it says that it can't proceed as it is read-only :/ And all we have to do is replace those 2 files and make up a backup of our existing ones and we done with the process?

nice work mate! it would be great if you enable to send the group sms to send to more that 10 people. It would come handy for sms junkies. you will just have to edit a value in "mms_config" xml. It would be a great addition. just my two cents....

Sounds awesome and would save having to use 3rd party messing apps. Has anybody tried this yet and how is it installed? Is it just simply a case of installing the .apk file or does it need copying into the system/app folder?

I'm using JPY non deodexed. Can't I just delete both Mms.apk and Mms.odex and just copy this Mms.apk without any Mms.odex?
I have changed my TouchWiz launcher manually and now I have only the TouchWiz30Launcher.apk file in my /app folder... Same for the gallery and hacked camera file.

actually i tried to copy the apk only to my non-deodexed jpx and it was working properly, of coz you'll need to rename/remove the existing Mms.apk & .odex

So I can allways install themes for deodexed firmware IF I APPLY them manually with the copy/past action for the .APK files and IF I REMOVE for all the files involved their related .ODEX files???
Can this mod be applied to aosp mms???? Anyone got the time /skill /inclination to do it???

I have installed the MMS MOD in my /system/app in replacement of the original Mms.apk, and after 3 sms it's convert to MMS .

2-Go to Settings, Call Settings, Internet Calls & Accounts to wrote the details of your sip account. In example:
Username: titooo
Password: pepito
Server: sip.nonoh.net
3-On Use Internet Calling choose your prefered option. I selected Ask for each call so every time I make a call to spanish landline numbers I make a free sip call thanks to my nonoh account.
Now you can make sip calls without using any third party software, no matter if you are using Wifi or 3G
Credits to modaco, dfi2k5, ZS6WDL and/or whoever discovered this way to get integrated SIP on our gingerbread roms.
I created the zip file thanks to the info provided here and here（same info in both cases just wanted to credit everyone)

You have to decompile framework-res.apk with apk-manager.
By the way the zip I uploaded already has those modifications, so you can simply flash it and enjoy

I think so... You still can use the file that should be placed on /system/etc/permissions but then you only will have integrated sip calls when connected to wifi networks.

this should work on odexed roms as well since the framework-res is an apk not jar.
for the ppl who don't want to touch the framework due to their custom battery mod, u can remove the apk from zip.
the framework-res.apk patch is only to allow sip calls over 3g as well, not wifi only.

I mean that after installing that first post file we lost fancy battery icons with percentage numbers etc.
I have installed only a file of your reference to "system\etc\permissions\" that sip integration is enabled now only with wifi. Is it possible to enable 3G-support now without battery percentage icon lost?
Can you make a cwm file for that situtation because I am not pro to modify framework.apk.

Did you sign it? Or do you just change file name after rebuild the apk from unsignedframework.apk to framework.apk?
Did you make liket this:
You first pull framework-res.apk from your phone
decompile the apk
make the changes
rebuild the apk
push apk back to phone?
What if there are also framework.odex or other files? Should I not to touch those?

actually, most of the process was handled by the apk manager. it took me 10 minutes overall, I followed strictly after the steps well described at the link.
I have deodexed fw, didn't sign it, was no need.
and yes, I did renamed the apk.

yes, I did. note that after the process of regenerating the apk finish, you still have to zip it but uncompressed, and rename (7zip).
then, I pushed the apk to the theme zip (using 7zip) and flashed it normally like an update.zip with cwm.
btw, I didn't use ADB tools at all.

You probably wont be able to add any, you can change the current ones by editing the apk, signing it then installing it. Once you open up the apk (with 7zip, winrar etc.) look inside the drawable-hdpi folder. Thats probably where the emoticons are kept.

yes i have tried it, but it's useless since the recipient of the emoticon should have the "moded" version too, so that he could see the emoticon

I used 'Formatter' to rename (whatsapp) .apk file into .zip did required changes (replaced one .png smiley file) & again renamed it into .apk
But then, I'm not able to install it (even after uninstalling previous version). An error saying 'Application not installed' shows.
How can I modify .apk files (in terms of replacing only the smiley image files) & repack it into proper .apk file so that I'll be able to install it without any error?
Please help me..

Good idea, but not practical
In order to install an apk, it must be properly signed and with a password that only the developers know. If you own the app though, you will still need to to decompile and recreate the apk structure by turning the directories of the zip into an android structure, since the compiling will change pretty much everything.
Worst part of it all, if you somehow manage to change and install the app, only you will be able to see it since only the apk installed on your phone has those custom emoticons.

after countless FCs from the stock email app, when trying to open new emails, i finally found a better solution for removing sms from call logs.
not the LogsProvider.apk should be modded, but instead the Contacts.apk
i modded the Contacts.apk from OMEGA 11 ICS stock rom
which is a XWLP8 rom

rename or delete your original Contacts.apk, then copy this file to /system/app/ with rootexplorer. thats it

biggest flaw is i can no longer delete the logged SMS sent either

replaced my contacts.apk with this one using root explorer rebooted the phone sent an SMS to test it and it still shows under logs when you select to show SMS messages from then on you can no longer remove it from the log :-/

you dont need to delete the entries.
does anybody know what happens if you have too much log entries??
the problem is already in samsung stock contacts.apk!
stock email app puts entries for new emails in the database of logsprovider.apk (you can check it with sqlite)
but contacs.apk does not show it ever in the call-logs view.
so email can fill up your database, and you have no (normal) way to delete it.
therefore i say it does not matter if the same happens to sms-logs.
i just would like to find out what happens, if you have 2000 smslogs inside your database and 300 emails logs.
will it crash? will it auto purge old entries? what ? what?

I think the 2 ways are good, just like you said it needs to be done correctly.
You try to hide logged sms, and Homam's one try to disable sms logging.
Anyway, good work karl999999, i ported it to my Blue ICS themed lp4, it's working great (with aosp email).
Best point for your mod is that it will hide also all previous received sms .
Get it from attachment, you have to restore stock LP4 LogsProvider.apk (attached too) if you want to test it.
acutally hiding is not really what i wanted
i want the menu to work, only the startup default to be set at "show only calls"
(instead of "all protocols")
but then i have found out, that the stupid phone.apk seems to change the value at random times.
what i will do in the next version, is that the menu will actually work, and you can delete old logs normally.

PS: what would be even better is, if the call log screen could also show those damn emails. the logs ARE in the database. the damn app just does not show them. (as i said before, i wonder what happens if you have 2000 email logs in the database, and you have no way of deleteing them?)
this one seems to fully work now, and save the settings to preference file.
after pushing the file to /system/app you MUST REBOOT, because its not zipaligned yet. (maybe i will fix this later)

I meant was missing 3 xml in layout related to sms showing. Well you are actually hiding sms
I am sure you ll improve your mod, for the moment i ll keep using logsprovider mod, for our rom (Simplistic lite and Disaster) we had no complaint about email client ;-)

Hey there! This mod was missing to our great phone so.. here it is!
If you're new to Samsung and you don't know what this MOD does, read here:
-Removes the annoyng SMS into MMS conversion as you write more than 3 sms together
-Removes the recipient limit (normally set to 10)
-Shows SENT time of received messages, so you know when that message was actually sent
It should work on any JB 4.1.2 ROM out there, even ODEX ones (tested). I need testers to confirm this is working also on 4.1.1
If you're on an ODEX Rom use a root file explorer, browse to /system/app and rename:
- SecMms.apk ---> SecMms.apkold
- SecMms.odex ---> SecMms.odexold
This way you've backed up your old Messages app. Of course if you are lazy you can use Titanium to do that
If you're on a DEODEXED rom just rename your SecMms.apk to SecMms.apkold or again, use Titanium.
You can just delete the old files in case you don't want to backup your SMS app, at your own risk
Once you've done this follow these steps:
Download the attachment and extract the new SecMms.apk from it
Tranfer it to your Phone SD/internal memory

I didn't include an explanation because it's one of the most famous samsung MODs since the first Galaxy S ^^
However, as the title says this mod:
-Removes the annoyng SMS into MMS conversion as you write more than 3 sms together
-Removes the recipient limit (normally set to 10)
-Shows SENT time of received messages, so you know when that message was actually sent

Any way you can post a stock Mms.apk (I don't have a S3mini) so we can see the differences? or at least upload a diff? thanks!!!

I can tell you how to do it!
First of all, removing the MMS conversion:
Decompile the Mms.apk and go to /res/xml/mms_config.xml
and replace this

<int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">4</int> (should be line 19)
with THIS

<int name="smsToMmsTextThreshold">100</int> (even higher if you want but any value in the range 50-100 should be enough)
Then we have to make our Sms app to show sent time instead of received, so go to /smali/com/android/mms/transaction/SMSReceiverService.smali and at line 589 you should find this

invoke-static {}, Ljava/lang/System;->currentTimeMillis()J
Change it to THIS:

invoke-virtual {p1}, Landroid/telephony/SmsMessage;->getTimestampMillis()J
And at line 2383, from

TO

invoke-virtual {v0}, Landroid/telephony/gsm/CbMessage;->getTimestampMillis()J
Finally to increase the contact limit you have to go to again to /res/xml/mms_config.xml , again line 19 , and change from this one:

To any higher value of your choice, like:

Then recompile,push your apk and you're done
P.s. follow this guide only if you're on a DEODEXed ROM

It should work on any JB 4.1.2 ROM out there, even ODEX ones (tested). I need testers to confirm this is working also on 4.1.1
If you're on an ODEX Rom use a root file explorer, browse to /system/app and rename:
- SecMms.apk ---> SecMms.apkold
- SecMms.odex ---> SecMms.odexold
This way you've backed up your old Messages app. Of course if you are lazy you can use Titanium to do that
If you're on a DEODEXED rom just rename your SecMms.apk to SecMms.apkold or again, use Titanium.
You can just delete the old files in case you don't want to backup your SMS app, at your own risk
Once you've done this follow these steps:
Download the attachment and extract the new SecMms.apk from it
Tranfer it to your Phone SD/internal memory
Open a root file manager and move it to /system/app
Set permissions to RW-R-R
Reboot and voilà. you're done :highfive:

I couldnt seem to find an uploades of a secmms.odex file I accidently deleted mine. Can someone please help me out and upload one for me. Thanks

Please any Master that can rebuild the SmcMMS.apk from Dmod v5 whithout the Time modification because this don't work good on this Region...
