[Q] What kernel would work for Liberation Rom? - Droid Incredible Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I'm sorry if this is a already ask question, but I was wondering what kernels would work for this rom? I don't know much about kernels but I tried a ziggy one and my home menu etc buttons wouldn't work. So what be the best one to use and to properly install it?
Thanks

There are three Liberation ROMs. There's Liberation, Enhanced, and Enhanced Beta. The latter, the beta version (2.x) is based off Gingerbread. As stated above, we do not have kernels made for them yet.
However, the first 2 are still on Froyo. If you check the thread for Liberation, there's links to Lou's custom kernels. Those are the kernels that I personally recommend (using #8 myself), though you can certainly use others.

Alright, thank you guys for clearing this up for me love your roms jay hopefully kernels well be made for them!

CM6 is the ONLY ROM without Sense right now.
Can't you just download launcher pro from the market? What about adw launcher? Root your phone and delete the bloat. A lot of stuff can be deleted manually. Message enomther and see if he will port his nexus Rom to evo. It is a great Rom.

There is a Senseless Froyo-Fusion out, but I haven't tried it.
I personally tossed around the idea of a stripped down ROM, but like 2.1 can't get the AOSP dialer working, and the AOSP calendar had some wierd issues.
I know of at least one more established ROM dev that is currently working on a 2.2 version with sense stuff stripped out. I'm guessing we will see it in the next few days.
But other than CM, none of these are true sense-removed roms. They still are Sense at the core (framework level) but have AOSP apps in place of sense apps, and a different launcher. If you want a true AOSP, CM is the only one, and I'm pretty sure for other phones most AOSP builds are based off CM.

[ROM][3/10/11] Vision Sense 1.85.73.2 Untouched (from Orange RUU): Rooted/Deodexed

This is a flashable ROM from generated from Football's RUU_Vision_Orange_FR-B2B_1.85.73.2 release. It includes all applications and original vendor configuration. In other words, it is untouched with the exception of the following:
Rooted with my customized version of Superuser (required until ChainsDD releases a version with my patches).
Deodexed with moderate compression throughout.
Busybox installed in /system/xbin.
Added large APNS list to /system/etc. [Added in r2]
WWE-equivalent language support. [Added in r2]
There are no other changes. Just to be blindingly clear, this is NOT Virtuous; although a future version of Virtuous may be based on this ROM. Anyone building ROMs is welcome to use this as a base. Thanks again to Football for continuing to provide us with the latest RUUs.
Disclaimer: This is a one-time release. Unless a problem can be identified with the changes mentioned above (rooting, deodexing, etc), it will not be updated or supported. Use this as-is or find a ROM which uses this release as its' base if you would like support and/or expect to see changes.
Remember to hit the "Thanks" button if my work ends up being useful to you.

You're kidding right? Read the post man.
well i really dont understand whats the difference between this and vituous, i meant is the GUI the same?
Ok just installed this on my g2 it actually runs pretty smooth...everything works and youtube works with the latest update. My gtalk shortkey works without crashing. Other than that its just like any other sense ui from the desire z.
Great stuff but oc would require for this rom to run faster.

It may work with the virtuous 1.1 kernels. Definitely not the pershoot kernel or our older kernels, as video playback will likely fail.
Orange Maps
Thanks for the ROM.. Works really nice

[Q] Rosies question

I see all these different Rosie set ups and I am confused as to if they are all interchangeable or not. I am currently on Koni's S3 but I do not see much on different Rosies, most post are for Myns or Miks.
Thank you
I asked TommyTomatoe about this recently. He said all of the should world (not the z based roms rosies). I haven't tested them out yet though. He said that the ones for Kings rom will definitely work

Keep in mind that those mods are specific to the rom they were made for. Still, you can use them however, because the framework is involved, you may end up changing more than just the rosie. For example, I flashed a gingerbread rosie made for Myn's RLS5 while I was using a rooted deodexed stock rom and although I did get the gingerbread rosie, my theme had changed among other things to that of RLS5.

S3 is a pretty solid rom, im really surprised there isn't much theme support for it.
Well, I guess my next question is; where do I find the bar to do it myself?

Download the theme or ROM that has the bar that you like. You will find it in system/framework/com.htc.resources.apk/res/drawable-port-hdpi. good luck and may the force be with you.
BTW if your ROM has landscape you will need /drawable-land-hdpi as well.

[Q] Which ROM?

Alright guys I feel like I've flashed like ten different senseless roms by now with no dice... I'm looking for a Rom that has the gingerbread look and feel of OMFGB, salvage mod, or cm 7 but that still incorporates sense features. The sense features I really want are the contact list with Facebook sync and the camera apk..... with the sense camera a user can tap the screen where they want it to focus.... this is a big deal to me and all gingerbread roms so far can't do these things.... the closest thing I've found to my liking is skyraider Athena but unfortunately Athena is froyo...... I want gingerbread. Any help?

I agree, if you're still wanting sense but with a couple cm7 features then skyraider fits the bill.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
The above statements are factual.... Skyraider 4.0 is the way to go
Alright....so Skyraider is a bit too sense-y for my liking....I didn't want full sense but rather sense apps....BUT I actually forgot posted this thread til just now and hadn't seen any replys..I actually ended up flashing Skyraider 4.0 before I even saw recommendations....let me just say this is the best Rom in the world. I didn't like sense because it was laggy but the way that sense is incorporated in this build is beautiful. I flashed chads 12/23 kernel on it and the combination is awesome...and it runs seamlessly while underclocked to 844! Plus my battery life is just beautiful compared to other roms....and no overheating problems! I have found my phones god send lol.thank you guys for the help and to anyone reading this thread that hasn't tried SR 4.0 I really recommend you give it a shot. Thanks guys

Not sure if you have tried it yet but you might want to check out Lou's #8 kernel for your SkyRaider. I had really good results using it, but you millage may vary.
Lous kernels confuse me....I don't understand all the multi touch hocus pocus
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Multitouch is just the ability for the phone to recognize 3-10 separate touch points simultaneously. Only use I know of is for gaming with emulators where you have your controls on screen.
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
Its older but a good senseless rom is skyraider athena. Get it on rom manager.
Edit: I'm dumb.

[Q] sense gingerbread camera kernel

Sorry to ask this but I don't have ready access to a computer to look around and tapatalk doesn't search well.
The screen going white when using cameras on sense gingerbread ROMs with custom kernels: is there a workaround? I want to use an sbc kernel that I can over/under clock and set profiles using setcpu without the goofy camera issue.
Thanks!

there aren't any kernels that are meant for sense gingerbread. AOSP and gingerbread yes but not Sense GB

Yes but is there a workaround?
Is it just the new camera apk being incompatible with the kernel?
Sent from my PC36100 using Tapatalk
There are no workarounds for this.
You have to wait for HTC to release the sourse code. Once they do that then you will start getting custom kernels
From my MikG 2.1 Evo
Thanks for the replies. If it saves anyone any time to know I tried an old camera apk as well as vignette. Boo
